An 18-year-old Claremore man was arrested after he allegedly threatened the lives of
the families of police officers on social media
following an incident on August 16.
According to a press release by the Claremore PD, Claremore officers were dispatched
to a home on the southside of Claremore to
investigate a disturbance. When they arrived,
two people were arguing and a third party
was hitting himself in the head with a shovel.
As officers approached the scene, two pit
bulls came running out of the house toward
them and the officers had to use lethal force
to protect themselves.
One of the dogs was later euthanized by
a veterinarian. The other pit escaped the scene and was later brought in for
treatment.
No arrests were made that day.
The man who was hitting himself was treated on scene for his injuries.
The next day, however, one of the men involved in the incident decided
to take to social media to share his account of what had happened the day
before. One of the comments on the post threatened the lives of the police
officers’ families who had responded to the disturbance.
While investigating the post, officers identified Mark Anthony Dietrich as the
person who wrote the death threat as a comment on social media.
Dietrich was arrested for making the threat against police officers and violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
Bond and court information were unavailable at time of print.

Florida woman farts, pulls knife on man who
complained, police say
A Florida woman faces an aggravated assault
charge after authorities say she passed gas in line
at a dollar store and pulled a knife on a man who
complained about it.
Citing a Broward Sheriff’s Office report, the Miami Herald reports 37-year-old Shanetta Yvette
Wilson passed gas while waiting in line at a Dollar
General and upset a nearby customer. The report
says the offended customer and Wilson then got
into an argument “in reference to the defendant
farting loudly.” It says Wilson then pulled a small
folding knife out of her purse and told the victim she was going to “gut”
him while moving as if to attack him.
Wilson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly
weapon without intent to kill.

Former Narcotics Supervisor Sentenced for
Stealing Drug Evidence for his Personal Use
A former narcotics supervisor from the
Mayes County Sheriff’s Office was sentenced
August 2 for stealing methamphetamine that
had been seized as evidence during multiple
law enforcement investigations, announced
U.S. Attorney Trent Shores.
U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell
sentenced Brett Alan Mull, 48, of Pryor, to
six months in federal prison followed by six
months home detention for tampering with
or destruction of evidence and for acquiring
methamphetamine through deception. Following imprisonment, Mull will serve two years
on supervised release. Mull pleaded guilty to
the felony charges on April 3, 2019.
The defendant used his position as a supervisor of the Criminal Interdiction
Unit to gain access to methamphetamine in order to support his addiction.
In 2017, Mull began removing OSBI evidence submittal envelopes containing
the illicit drug before the evidence was booked into the property room. On
July 3, 2018, investigators discovered altered evidence submittal envelopes,
drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine during searches of Mull’s residence and workplace.
“There is a social contract between the public and the police that is built on
mutual trust, respect and accountability. Brett Mull violated that contract, and
for that, there must be consequences,” said U.S. Attorney Shores. “Mull fell
into the clutches of addiction and then repeatedly broke the law. He altered
evidence. He confiscated methamphetamine from suspects and then used
that same meth to get high. Today, he faced the consequences for his actions. I am proud of the integrity of the entire prosecution team to bring these
offenses to light and pursue justice.”
The FBI and investigators from Mayes County District Attorney Matt Ballard’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan M.
Roberts prosecuted the case.

THE TOWN OF SOUTH COFFEYVILLE WOULD LIKE TO KEEP YOU OUT OF JAIL!
If you have a warrant with the Town of South Coffeyville, Okla., and would like to get rid of
that warrant once and for all, you can contact the Court Clerk at 1-918-255-6045, option 1.
When a warrant is issued, the amount is sent to a collection agency. At that time, the collection agency will have an additional fee of 25% of the amount of the warrant added onto the
amount due. The town is offering two options at this time. If you would like a pay order, you
will need to pay 35% down of the amount due and sign a pay order. After 35% is paid and
a pay order is signed, the warrant will be recalled and the collection agency will be paid. If
you want to pay the warrant and collection fee, a discount on the warrant will be given for a
total that is over $500. No discounts will be given for pay orders. This will not apply to new
arrests. (Partial list, more to come)

South Coffeyville man Nicholas Wayne Wright
was charged August 9 with two counts of burglary, in addition to other charges, for his role in
some burglaries that occurred at two different
Nowata County farms.
According to reports, Nowata County deputies
were dispatched to investigate some alarms going off at the district two barn in Lenapah. They
were also advised that alarms were sounding at
the district three barn in Delaware.
During the investigation, South Coffeyville officers stopped a vehicle and questioned the occupants. This led to Wright being arrested on July
23.
Wright is being charged with two counts of burglary in the second degree, grand larceny and knowingly concealing stolen property. His bond
was set at $75,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 2,

Buzzards facing murder charges
Three men are facing first-degree murder charges after they allegedly shot and killed a man as an
act of revenge on August 1.
The men were identified as James Buzzard, 46,
Cody Buzzard, 25, and 18-year-old Dakota Buzzard.
According to the affidavit, officers were dispatched to the South 685 Road in Jay and found
a deceased man in the front yard. A woman at the
scene, who had been shot in the arm, said she
thought the victim had forgotten his keys, so she
went to let him in. When she opened the door,
someone shot at her. She saw the victim’s vehicle
and a white car.
At the scene, investigators found 12 spent .22
caliber casings.
Officers located the white car around 9:30 a.m.
Dakota was behind the wheel. He admitted to
shooting the victims. He described the scene, as
well as the type of gun used.
Dakota told officers where they could find the
firearm. They found the gun with a man who said
James and Dakota came to his house and asked
him to keep the gun. He said James told him someone had been killed.
On August 2, officers saw Cody driving a silver
truck. They were unable to stop him, and later
found the vehicle stuck on an embankment.
On August 5, officers searched the vehicle driven
by Dakota. They found four spent.22 caliber casings inside the car.
On August 6, officers looked through Cody’s
Facebook messages and saw that he and Dakota
had talked about a vehicle. Dakota told Cody, “They
found a shell.”
Officers later spoke to Dakota again. This time, Dakota said he, James,
and Cody were all involved in the shooting. He said they went to the victim’s residence and waited for him to arrive. When the victim came home,
they watched as he exited his vehicle. James then fired using a .22 caliber
rifle. The victim fell to the ground.
Cody jumped in the victim’s truck.
James started shooting at the front door.
Dakota told police that the victim had shot his sister a few years prior.
All three men are being charged with murder in the first degree and
shooting with intent to kill. They are being held without bond.

making money at a new job
Miami man Gregory James Matlock, 34, allegedly
made fake money and ID cards that he both used and
sold by using a printer at his wife’s home.
According to the affidavit, Miami officers were advised that someone had used counterfeit money at
several Walmart stores in June and July 2019. One of
those suspects was identified as Matlock.
On August 7, they learned that two men had a large
amount of counterfeit money and drove a silver van.
They stayed at a residence in the 600 block of A Street
Southeast. Officers located the suspect van at the residence. It came back registered to Matlock.
On August 8, officers searched the trash from the
residence. They found clear laminate photocopies of
ID cards and a used bottle of gray paint.
Officers confirmed that one of the names listed on
the ID card copy belonged to a man who had been
incarcerated since July 2, 2019, leading them to believe he didn’t have his ID card.
On August 9, officers went back to the residence with a search warrant. They spoke
to a woman who said she was Matlock’s wife. She told them there were printers inside
the home used to make fake money. She also said her husband had given her some
of those counterfeit bills. She added Matlock was staying at a nearby motel and had
recently made her a counterfeit ID with another woman’s info.
Officers searched the home and found the printers, counterfeit bills, and the license
the woman told them about.
Later that day, officers received a search warrant for the motel room and the suspect vehicle. They found the van and made contact with Matlock. Matlock admitted
that he had lost his job and was addicted to meth, so he started making his own
money in May 2019.
Matlock was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
He later explained that he had learned to make the money from a friend.
An officer showed him the ID card that had the picture of Matlock’s wife on it with
another woman’s name. He asked the man if he made it. Matlock said yes, but he
didn’t think the quality was good enough for it to be used.
Matlock is being charged with unlawful use of identification card and possession of
forged notes. His bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on September 9, 2019.

OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty OTTAWA COUNTY 31 | SEPTEMBER 2019
Police receive many calls for assistance, but this one was quite unusual. Douglas
Kelly, 49, from Hawthorne, Florida, called the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office asking
them to test the drugs he bought a week earlier because he wanted to press charges
against the person who sold them to him. Kelly’s public defender did not immediately
respond to a request for comment. Police said Kelly told them he had a bad reaction
after he smoked what he believed to be meth and thought he was sold another illegal
substance.
“In an effort to ensure the quality of the drug the suspect purchased, detectives told
Kelly if he came to the sheriff’s office they could test the narcotic he purchased,” the
Putnam County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook.
Kelly drove down to the police station and handed over the clear, crystallized substance for offices to test, and tests showed it was meth, according to the Facebook
post. He was arrested and charged with possession and booked into the Putnam
County Jail. Officers used this incident to let others know on that they are always here
to help test any illegal drugs.
“If you believe you were sold bad drugs, we are offering a free service to test them for
you,” the Facebook post says. “Remember, our detectives are always ready to assist
anyone who believes they were misled in their illegal drug purchase.”
Police in Rhode Island say a man taunted officers, yelling “you’ll never catch me,”
minutes before crashing his all-terrain vehicle in Rhode Island and getting caught by
police. Authorities say 25-year-old Ruddy Rodriguez was among a group of 10 to 15
people driving ATVs and other vehicles erratically on Providence streets. Police say Rodriguez drove through a red light before driving onto a sidewalk, causing pedestrians to
run out of the way. His attempt to escape officers was cut short when he crashed into a
large cement potted plant on the sidewalk. Police arrested Rodriguez, and he is facing
charges of reckless driving, eluding police and property damage.
A woman pulled over by Crossville, Tennessee, officers while riding an electric shopping cart stolen from Walmart, claimed she was just on her way to get a cup of coffee,
investigators say. Police responded around 5 a.m. to a report of a woman driving an
electric scooter in the slow lane on Highway 127. When officers were able to get her
to stop, they said the driver, identified as Sally Selby, claimed she took the cart from
Walmart and was driving it to Waffle House to get a cup of coffee. Police watched
surveillance footage from Walmart and said Selby was observed entering the store at
4:15 a.m. and driving the electric scooter as she shopped. Around 4:40 a.m., officers
advised she exited the business, drove around the Walmart parking lot and then rode
the shopping cart onto Highway 127. Crossville police have not said what charge or
charges Selby will face.
A group of teenagers who used a stolen van to smash their way into a medical marijuana dispensary in Colorado would be better off sprinkling what they stole on pasta
than smoking it. Witnesses said the teens stole containers of what appeared to be
marijuana at Native Roots Dispensary at 3660 Austin Bluffs Parkway in northeastern
Colorado Springs. Except what’s on display isn’t marijuana… It’s oregano, which probably would make you cough if you smoked it but won’t get you high.
