SWEET DREAMS
A 31-year-old Ponca City man allegedly
kicked a Stillwater Medical Center ER nurse
in the chest just hours after being combative
with other medical personnel on July 2. Officers placed Ashton William Gates under arrest as soon as he was discharged from the
hospital.
According to reports, a Stillwater officer arrested the man at approximately 11:09 p.m.
The officer had dealt with the man on a previous call earlier that day. The officer stated
Gates had been combative with nurses on
that previous call.
A registered nurse said officers left the man
at approximately 8:52 p.m. as he was sleeping. Around 10 p.m., the nurse tried to wake
up Gates so she could discharge him. She
tapped his leg and told him it was time to leave. The man allegedly told her
that he was going to “f------ kick her.”
The nurse stepped away from the man and walked around to the other side
of the bed. Gates closed his eyes and went back to sleep. When the nurse
tried to wake him up a second time, Gates opened his eyes and kicked her in
the chest with his right foot.
The force of the blow caused the nurse fall backward and hit a container
that was mounted on the wall, causing it to break. She was left with visible
injuries on her back.
Other medical personnel witnessed the assault.
Security waited with the man until a police officer arrived. Due to the man’s
combative nature, the officer waited to inform Gates that he was under arrest
until they walked outside the hospital.
Gates is being charged with assault and battery upon an emergency medical care provider. His bond was set at $7,500, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on August 2, 2021.

GUILTY PLEA ENTERED IN CHILD
PORNOGRAPHY INVESTIGATION
OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Okla. – One of the suspects in a 2020 child pornography case pleads guilty
in Oklahoma County Court. Joseph Allan Rogers II
(29) plead guilty to the following charges: 3 counts
of Lewd, Indecent or Lewd Acts with a Child Under
Sixteen (16), 3 counts of Manufacturing Child Pornography, 1 count of Distributing Child Pornography,
1 count of Aggravated Possession of Obscene Materials involving the Participation of Minors Under the
Age of Eighteen (18), and 1 count of Beastiality. He
received a sentence of Life plus 20 years. Rogers’
wife, 27-year-old Cherokee White is also facing multiple charges in this case.
This investigation began in January 2020 after a Virginia ICAC unit forwarded images that were tracked
to the Jones, Okla., area. During the investigation,
OSBI Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit
agents determined the images were of a 14-monthold child and were taken in November 2018. That
led to arrest Joseph Rogers on May 29, 2020, the
child’s father. A forensic investigation of electronics
seized after Rogers’ arrest revealed additional sexual
assault crimes committed by both parents against
the same child as the one from the 2018 pictures.
Additionally, it was discovered the pair were violating a pet.
White was arrested on June 4, 2020, and is facing 1 charge of Lewd, Indecent or Lewd Acts with a Child Under Sixteen (16), 1 count of Manufacturing
Child Pornography and 1 count of Beastiality. Her court date is set for later
this year.
The children of Rogers and White were removed from the home at the time
of their arrest.

august is back to school
safety month
As summer draws to a close and
children start heading back to school,
family life can get pretty hectic. It’s
important to remember – and share
with your children – some key tips that
will help keep them safe and healthy
throughout the school year.
Getting to School
Whether children walk, ride their bicycle or take the bus to school, it is vitally
important that they – and the motorists around them – take proper safety precautions.
Walkers:
• Walk on the sidewalk; if there is no sidewalk and you must walk in the street,
walk facing traffic
• Before crossing the street, stop and look left, right and left again to see if cars
are coming
• Never dart out in front of a parked car
• Parents: Practice walking to school with your child, crossing streets at cros
walks when available
• Never walk while texting or talking on the phone
• Do not walk while using headphones
Bike Riders:
• Always wear a helmet that is fitted and secured properly
• Children need to know the rules of the road: Ride single file on the right side
of the road, come to a complete stop before crossing the street and walk the
bike across
• Watch for opening car doors and other hazards
• Use hand signals when turning
• Wear bright-colored clothing
Bus Riders:
• Teach children the proper way to get on and off the bus
• Line up 6 feet away from the curb as the bus approaches
• If seat belts are available, buckle up
• Wait for the bus to stop completely before standing
• Do not cross in front of the bus if possible, or walk at least 10 feet ahead until
you can see the other drivers
Drivers, Share the Road:
• Don’t block crosswalks
• Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, and take extra care in school zones
• Never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians
• Never pass a bus loading or unloading children
• The area 10 feet around a school bus is the most dangerous for children; stop
far enough back to allow them to safely enter and exit the bus

A Tulsa man was sentenced on August 4 in federal court for inappropriately touching a 17-yearold customer at a Sapulpa convenience store,
announced Acting U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell sentenced Sajjad Ali Khan, 51, of Tulsa, to five years
of probation with six months on home detention.
The defendant is also required to register as a
sex offender.
On Feb. 2, 2021, Kahn pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact in Indian Country. In the blind
plea, Khan admitted that he engaged in abusive
sexual contact by intentionally touching the victim’s breasts without her
permission on Sept. 15, 2020. The crime occurred at a convenience store
owned and operated by Khan, which is across the street from a public park
and swimming pool.
The FBI, Sapulpa Police Department, and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marianne
Hardcastle prosecuted the case.

On July 8, Brandon Allen McNeill, 40, of Wellston, pleaded
guilty to a “lie and buy” by making a false statement on a
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)
firearms transaction record when purchasing a firearm from
licensed gun dealer, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Robert
J. Troester.
On March 2, 2021, a federal grand jury returned a twocount Indictment against McNeill, charging him with making
a false statement in acquisition of a firearm, and possessing
a firearm after a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction.
According to the Indictment, on January 8, 2021, McNeill entered a federally
licensed firearm dealer to purchase a firearm. During the process, McNeill made a
false and fictitious written statement on a federal ATF firearms transaction record
indicating that he had not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic
violence, when in fact, he had been convicted of such an offense in 2019.
Federal law prohibits a person who has previously been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence from possessing a firearm. McNeill was found
in possession of the firearm on January 14, 2021, as alleged in the Indictment.
At the hearing, McNeill pleaded guilty to making a false statement in acquisition
of a firearm. At sentencing, McNeill faces up to ten years in prison, a $250,000
fine, and up to three years of supervised release. As part of his plea agreement,
the government will dismiss at sentencing the second count, charging him with illegally possessing the firearm after a domestic violence conviction.

Man Charged with dumping poop water near
stream in Sierra County, CA
On July 5th, an off-duty Sierra County Sheriff’s Office detective driving on Highway 49 noticed a GMC
pickup with a gray and yellow Attitude trailer parked
on Highway 49 near the Forest Service Road 9 at
mile-post-marker 40.19. The off-duty detective saw
a white male, later identified through a California
State driver’s license as Peter Cate, standing next
to the trailer dumping the black tank into the ditch
along Highway 49. The license plate on the vehicle
was noted and reported to Sierra County Sheriff’s
Office dispatch, and an illegal dumping case was
opened.
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office detective could see brown water discharging from the trailer. The detective turned around and parked across from the
truck and trailer. He observed Cate discharging sewage from the black tank.
The sewage ran down the road and into an adjacent ditch that drained into a
nearby creek. Cate then closed the black tank, got back into his truck, and
drove away.
Photographs were taken of the raw sewage which ran approximately 30 yards
from dump site. The detective reported a strong smell of sewage and could see
toilet paper and human waste. The sewage was about 12 inches from a stream
in which the detective could see trout.
Local Fish and Wildlife Warden, Steve Ulrich responded to the scene and
assisted the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office in charging the suspect with felony
discharge of pollutants into a waterbody. Warden Ulrich notified Fish and Wildlife officers in Cate’s jurisdiction and asked them to contact and interview Cate.
Sierra County Sheriff’s Office wrote an arrest warrant that was served that
evening by the Livermore Police Department. Cate was booked into Alameda
County Sheriff’s Office on a felony charge of the California Water and a misdemeanor charge of Fish and Game Code, Disposal of Trash into or within 150
feet of a waterbody.

JUST CAN’T STOP
Guthrie man Calvin Kyle Sears, 24, was arrested after he led deputies on a high-speed
pursuit on July 2.
Police also found drugs and paraphernalia in
his vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a Logan County
deputy stopped a vehicle at approximately
10:38 a.m. at the corner of College and Division because a blacked-out tag was covering
the vehicle’s tag. The driver, later identified as
Sears, pulled over and stopped, but when the
deputy approached his vehicle, the man took
off driving westbound on College Avenue.
Sears ran several stop signs and reached
speeds up to 80 mph. He turned south on Kelly, then swerved around and
headed south to Highway 33, where he turned west.
The pursuit continued through the stop sign at Highway 74 and Highway
33.
As Sears drove westbound and around the curve at MacArthur, he
swerved into the oncoming lane, causing vehicles to pull off the road to
avoid being hit head-on. A deputy successfully conducted a PIT maneuver
on Sears’s vehicle, causing it to spin out in the grassy area north of the
entrance to Beaver Lake Manor.
Sears apologized to deputies and said he was an idiot and couldn’t
stop. He also asked if his life was over because of the chase.
A deputy put Sears in his patrol vehicle and took him to the hospital for
evaluation.
Some of the items a deputy found in the man’s vehicle included clothes,
knives, tattoo needles and supplies, fishing poles, hand tools, a car tire,
survival food, bolt cutters, approximately 410 grams of a green leafy
substance that tested positive for marijuana, a cracker box filled with 87
grams of a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana, insulin
needles, a makeshift pipe with residue that field-tested positive for meth, a
large vape and oil canisters, and some broken cell phones.
During the investigation, deputies were advised that the man had a warrant for his arrest.
At the hospital, an ER nurse advised that Sears had tested positive for
meth.
Sears is being charged with attempting to elude an officer and endangering another, operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license has been
suspended, operating a motor vehicle with taxes due to the state, unlawful possession of controlled dangerous substance methamphetamine and
marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was
set at $75,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 20,
2021.
