Two fun-loving Duncan women were arrested after one of them
drove off during a red light.
According to the affidavit, a Duncan police officer was on patrol
July 26 around 1:35 a.m. when he stopped at the red light at Highway 81 and Main. Across the way, he noticed a vehicle pull up
to the red light. It stopped, but then proceeded to drive into the
intersection while the light was still red. The officer pulled over
the vehicle and asked the driver and passenger for identification.
The driver, Jennifer Pollock Evans, 37, handed the officer an
insurance card and asked, “What is this?” She had thick slurred
speech and seemed confused while trying to find her I.D. and insurance card. She denied drinking or taking drugs.
The officer asked her to exit the vehicle, and he administered
standard field sobriety tests. She had a hard time following instructions and completing the tests.
The officer placed her under arrest and put her in the patrol
vehicle. Another officer retrieved an item Evans dropped when
exiting her vehicle — it was a small bag containing an assortment
of pills.
The officer asked the passenger, Hannah Leah Brown, 33, to
exit the vehicle so he could administer sobriety tests to see if she
could drive the vehicle home. To make things short, she couldn’t.
An officer asked if he could search her purse, and when he did,
he found a container that had two pills inside of it. He then placed
her under arrest and asked if she had anything illegal on her.
Brown admitted that she had some baggies stuffed down the front of her pants. Police
found two baggies containing a white crystal-like substance. In the vehicle, police found
pipes and more baggies containing a white crystal-like substance.
The women were transported to jail. The officer checked the backseat of his patrol car and
found rolling papers and a small pipe under the seat where Evans had been sitting,
Evans is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs
and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She was released on a $1,500 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on September 12, 2014.
Brown is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. She was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 5, 2014.

unsolved Cases
On June 17, 2007, 73-year-old Rosemary Wolfe was found shot
to death inside her Langley home by her husband. The Medical
Examiner’s Offi ce ruled she died of several gunshot wounds.
The Mayes County Sheriff ’s Offi ce requested OSBI help investigate
the death. Since then, agents have conducted numerous interviews
and collected evidence in the case.
Investigators believe they know what happened to Ms.
Wolfe. However, they need a few more pieces of evidence/
information in order to resolve the case. OSBI hopes someone with that information will come
forward to help solve the case and allow her family some peace. Since her death happened on
Father’s Day – that day is an especially diffi cult one.
Wolfe’s family is off ering up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of
the person responsible for her death.
If anyone has any information on this case, please call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.

Forty-nine-year-old Melissa Ranah Hancock was arrested
after police found her stumbling down the road and asking
random people to use their phone.
According to the affidavit, Stephens County police received
several calls the morning of August 2 about Hancock drunkenly wandering down Tucker Road in Duncan. One caller
told police Hancock walked onto his porch and asked to use
his phone. When he told her he only had a police radio, Hancock started to cry.
Another caller said the Duncan woman walked onto her
porch and asked her for a ride to town. One caller said Hancock appeared to be drunk or assaulted.
Police found Hancock on Second Street and Tucker.
A deputy asked her where she was going, and she said she
was walking home. She then immediately added that she
didn’t want to go to jail and for them to please not take her to jail.
She said she was walking home from a friend’s house, but didn’t know where the house was
located.
Hancock had cuts on her arms and legs and dirt and thorns all over her body. She couldn’t
remember if she had fallen or if she was assaulted. When the deputies asked her if she had
been drinking, she told them she had been drinking beer, tequila, Kahlua and more, and that
she couldn’t remember since the evening before. Hancock said she had been walking through
fields and streets for a while, knocking on doors and asking people for rides.
She continued to ask police not to take her to jail. She gave them reasons why they shouldn’t
take her to jail for being drunk in public, although much of what she said didn’t make sense.
Her plea for freedom didn’t help her cause, and the deputies placed her under arrest. On
the way to jail, Hancock kept slurring her speech and made angry comments about not wanting to go to jail.
She said she wanted to see a doctor and take a blood test to prove she wasn’t drunk. That
didn’t work either.
Hancock is being charged with public intoxication. She was released on an OR bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on September 5, 2014.

stupid criminals
A Phoenix man attempted to rob two large businesses, first
an Ace Hardware and then a Safeway. He put his hand under
his shirt to look like a gun, but the cashier was not fooled and
calmly said “no” to his request for money. Equally unsuccessful was his attempt to rob a Safeway, which resulted in him
being escorted out of the building. According to Phoenix New
Times, he waited a few minutes before returning into the store
to snag a small breakfast sausage and was therefore charged
with shoplifting. I guess all that failing worked up an appetite.
A man in Riverfront was busted for buying some heroin and
a prostitute for the night. Doesn’t sound that unusual, right?
He used money he had stolen from his 4 year old nephew’s piggy bank. According to River front Times, the man was staying
with his sister and asked if he could borrow some of her son’s
money. She told him he could have two dollars, but he took all
$500. I’m thinking next Thanksgiving dinner could be tense.
In Seattle, a young man and woman attempted to steal six
beers from a gas station. Malt-liquor (what?) beers, to be exact. The male accomplished this by hitting the store clerk over
the head with a ukulele, breaking the instrument and cutting
the victims scalp. According to Seattle Weekly, the suspects
had fled by the time the police arrived on the scene. Silently,
unfortunately.
A man in Chicago was feeling hungry, so he decided to rob a
Subway franchise. Of course, the plan wasn’t complete without
added complications. This one came in the form of a Halloween disguise—a ghost costume, to be exact. According to Huffington Post, he almost succeeded in holding up the restaurant,
until another employee threw hot soup at him. I didn’t even
know Subway offered that as a menu item, but thank goodness
they do.
If there’s one thing rarer than common sense, it’s common
courtesy. Luckily this guy at least has the latter. A man supposedly the age of thirty decided to rob a bank inside of Kroger (as
politely as possible). A security camera took an exceptionally
clear picture of him tipping his baseball cap to the teller who
was being “so kind as to help him rip off the place”. According to Houston Press, he was able to finish the robbery and
escape. But probably not before wishing everyone in line a
splendidly jolly day.

Duncan man Antonio Garcia Jr., 26, was
arrested for kidnapping on August 6 after he
tricked his wife’s alleged lover into coming
to his home.
According to the affidavit, Duncan officers
were dispatched to a residence in the 400
block of West Ash around 4 a.m. for a disturbance. When they arrived, they saw Garcia
holding a rifle. An officer told him to put the
gun down.
Garcia set the rifle against the wall and
told the officer, “It took everything I had to
keep from pulling the trigger.”
A man with an “intense look of fear on his face” was sitting on the
couch. He told police he had been messaging Garcia’s wife, and they
were planning on having a drink date in the future. He said he received a reply from the woman earlier that day, and she invited him
to come to her home to have intercourse. But it wasn’t the wife.
When the victim arrived at the residence, he followed “her” instructions and walked toward the bedroom.
Garcia then jumped out of the kitchen with a rifle; the victim said
he and Garcia stood facing each other for what seemed like 10 or 15
minutes.
The victim told police Garcia would ask him questions, then get
angry and tell him to shut up when he tried to answer. He said Garcia
kept pointing the rifle at him and questioned him for about an hour
before Garcia finally called the police.
Garcia told the officers his wife left her phone at home and the victim sent her a message. Garcia pretended to be his wife and invited
the man over.
He admitted to holding the victim at gunpoint and said he eventually called police to let them handle the situation.
Garcia is being charged with kidnapping. His bond was set at
$100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2014.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

What you’re saying about this on...
Brian G: Legalize steroids, same amount of deaths as weed and steroids won’t make
you sound like a half asleep pothead
Toni L: Brian maybe you need to do some research steroids do hurt and kill people.
They have very dangerous side effects unlike weed.
Brandi W: I think it really wouldn’t matter which drugs are legalized or not, people
will find a way to abuse, take, sell, make or even trade drugs if they want to! I for one don’t
think I’m in charge of anybody else’s actions or wants.. I say to each their own just don’t
bring others down for your own actions! Be responsible..
Becky P: they use to use it for medical reasons in the old days...legalize it and get the
tax from it...steroids will kill you eventually...go after the meth heads
Brandon H: Legalize bud it never hurt a soul
Jon W: Legalize weed
Sha’Meka M: Steroids can kill you n make you do things ... Legalize Mary Jane..
She’s cool ppl
Gary H: Maybe synthetic weed. Steroids claimed a whole family in Chris Benoit’s
case. If you don’t mind disappearing testicles and the end to your sex life, enjoy......
Andrea G: They gotta get to Rehab, But they say No No No!
Mike B: Tighten control of Prescription drugs . They cause more problems.
Jason H: Free the weed. !!! Unburden the prison industrial complex
Tamara T: Concentrate on where the drugs are coming from. I know in Garvin Co a
lot of the same people that were dealing 18 years ago when I was in high school are still the
main dealers around. Quit making deals with them.
Mallori D: Marijuana should be legalized. Others drugs like cocaine or meth should
not be. I don’t agree with throwing these people in jail and them serving time longer than
people who have killed/rape. These people should be given help. There a lot of people who
use marijuana and don’t go out and kill, rob or lose their job because of it. It’s time the baby
boomers start letting my generation make these choices. It will happen eventually.
Renee M: You get more time for marijuana than drunk driving or being a cook or
tweek. A little backwards. Oh yeah and all because they thought they could win the war on
drugs. Which will never happen..
Alissa W: I have Fibromyalgia. We have very low options to control our pain. It just
so happens marijuana does great things for our pain, and coming off of it is a lot easier
than coming off of narcotics where it all of a sudden wears off and you are in more pain
than before. I think medical marijuana would do great things in our state. Also I think that
if you are a first time offender of drugs and alcohol you should go to involuntary rehab. If
you have kids you shouldn’t get “special treatment” by no means. I believe narcotics and
meth and heroine are more of an issue than pot. Narcotics cause more harm to yourself
and others.
Merrenda L: Colorado is a debt free state and has been. No one has broke out and
caused riots and crime has actually went down. When it comes to pot, make it legal and
follow colorado. Get our state debt free and tax the hell out of it. Use the money for schools
and roads.
Molly E: There is a definite drug problem in Oklahoma, but I believe incarceration is
not the only solution. Jail time will punish drug users/abusers, but it will NOT address the
underlying problem. As soon as they are released, they will go right back to using. We need
to invest more in rehabilitation than punishment. Addiction should be treated as an illness,
not a crime. These people are mothers, fathers, siblings, friends. They’re not monsters because they lost control. They just need help.
David T: Legalize marijuana it hasn’t killed anybody unlike prescription drugs, meth,
alcohol, or any other man made drugs. They need to be more strict on these meth heads
and drunks who take ppls lives on a daily basis instead of a slap on the wrist and send them
on their way. I’ve had to many family members and friends killed by a drunk driver or
somebody under the influence of meth
Lisa H: There are many benefits to making pot legal. Not only for medicinal issues,
but tax dollars added in to our economy as well. No, the judicial system has been messed
up for years. People caught with pot get more time than kiddy rapists! No one comes out of
the womb saying they want to become an addict. Meth has destroyed millions of lives. But
until we as a society, can accept the fact that some people are simply broken and looking
for a way to relieve their pain, drugs, alcohol, etc. will be abused. Send the first timers to
drug rehab. After that, jail time.
Jason S: Alcohol is already legal, now pot should be. Ive seen more problems though
through presciption drugs by far.
Maria E: Well unfair if the pot heads can have mary jane give the dope heads cocain
and ice ... get my point not fair to give some what they want and not others what they want..
if you legalize one legalize all. I’m against any including pain meds because ameicans have
learned to say there back hurts get oxy and instead of fixing the “problem” they claim to
have they keep popping there pills or better yet sell to the pill poppers and buy there weed,
meth ect..
Joel R: the biggest problem i see is corruption in the police and sheriff”s departments/
offices.
Dillen G: I’d say the problem isn’t the drugs. Now bear with me, I don’t condone the
use or cultivation of any drug. The PROBLEM, however, is these gun toting punk kids and
the wars they wage for the people who supply them. Did you know on the black market,
the “product” that flows the most, is laundry detergent. Something completely legal is being sold in underground markets just like these drugs. Why? Because the drugs aren’t the
problem, but they are contributing factors nonetheless. Legalizing won’t get rid of these
organizations underground. It may dampen them, and make it harder for them to make
money, but it won’t stop them. When you get down to brass tax, it’s lazy people trying to
make a paycheck. These “gangsters” are pawns for individuals who go unnoticed or unfound because of the loyalty these pawns have for them. They just reel in the cash.
Chuck C: Alcohol does need attention but again it’s effects are scientifically measurable and marijuana doesn’t since it has different levels THC but I’m sure that will change.
Preston S: That whole question as to whether they should be more lenient on women
than men, is just simple minded. An “abuser” is just that, an “abuser.” Whoever runs this
page, should probably have their questions examined by a panel of people before posting.
Okjailbirds: Preston S: It is Senate Bill 1278, so I guess the question was examined before we posted. Men are left out of this bill. http://www.oksenate.gov/.../press.../
pr20140312a.htm
Tucker W: Too many prescription drugs. Every time I go to a doctor they want to
fix it with a pill. What happened to curing something rather than masking the pain?????
Jesse C: As simple as we would like to make the solution to our state’s drug issues
sound, they are extremely complicated. No simple one liner answer will work. Drugs are
a temporary answer to a long term problem. Until we as a society decide to face the issues
instead of escape, we will have a drug issue, legal or illegal.
Here’s a question for you...
How do think the current drug problem in Oklahoma should be solved?
Things to ponder:
• Is there a drug problem at all?
• Do drugs need to be legalized? Which drugs?
• Do all drug abusers need to go to jail? What about recreational drug users?
• Do drug abusers/users need help instead of jail time? What about those who
don’t want help?
• Should judges be more lenient with women
and harsher on men? What about those who
have children (women and men)?
• Do you think our system is fair and just? If
not, what seems to be the problem?

A Chickasha pervert was arrested for
child pornography July 30 after an agent
with the Oklahoma Attorney General’s
Officer was tipped off by technology of his
illicit activities.
According to the affidavit, the agent received cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on
May 12 that a Microsoft user was uploading images containing child pornography.
She was able to track the IP address and
email address to Chickasha. The user’s
name was Laurence F. Thompson, 59.
According to the affidavit, Thompson
had previous convictions for rape, sodomy, lewd or indecent proposals/acts to a child and soliciting a minor for indecent photos. Thompson was also on parole when the images of child pornography were
found.
In June, the agent obtained a search warrant for Thompson’s account and found more than 2,000 images and a few videos of child
pornography.
On July 28, the agent saw Thompson drive to the public library
with his computer.
On July 30, police served a search warrant of the residence where
Thompson was staying. Thompson signed consent forms for agents
to search his car, cellphone and computer. He admitted to using the
Internet at the library to search and download child pornography on
his computer. Thompson said he had more than 1,000 child pornographic images and videos saved on his computer. His cellphone also
contained multiple videos of child pornography.
Thompson is being charged with two counts of possession of child
pornography, aggravated possession of child pornography, three
counts of possession of obscene materials and four counts of downloading obscene materials. His bond was set at $110,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on September 3, 2014.

It’s hard to believe that this is
the 37th installment of Tips From
a Trooper! The 4th of July holiday always makes me thankful for
our service men and women, who fight for the freedoms we enjoy
in the greatest country on Earth!. On that note, I thought I would
just give some thoughts about the people who are out there serving
the public.
First of all, please thank a veteran. If you see one, just go up,
shake their hand, and thank them for their service. Regardless of
politics, those men and women did and still do sacrifice a lot for
their country, and each and every one of us. They didn’t ask to be
sent to war, they didn’t get to pick or chose which war they were
sent to fight in, but they did their duty. They deserve our respect.
Next, lets move on to the men and women who are serving the
public on a daily basis. Emergency first responders are by and
large some of the finest men and women there are. None of us
got into our professions to get rich, we are here because it was a
calling. That calling may have been law enforcement, firefighter,
EMT, Paramedic, dispatcher, or any of the numerous medical
fields. All of these people are driven by the need to serve, to help,
to do their part in making the world a better place. In exchange
for the privilege to serve, we are rewarded with long days, call
outs in the middle of the night, a ton of interrupted meals, and
the real possibility of missing some of our family’s very important
events. This is not a gripe, this is reality for us. To be quite honest,
we wouldn’t have it any other way!
We also get lumped in with the bad apples when one of our
profession makes the media in a bad way. Please remember that the
media only runs the sensational news. “Trooper Changes Flat Tire
for Elderly Couple” or “Fire Department holds free Child Restraint
Inspections” are not ever going to make it into the news, although
it happens every day. I make no excuses for the men and women in
our profession who do make the news in a bad way, they made their
choices, and there are some bad apples in every profession. Please
remember that, and know that the 99% of us that are doing the
right thing every day, are just as upset about those headlines as you
are, and don’t want or deserve to be lumped in with them.
For my part, I would like to thank each and every one of the men
and women who I work with on crash scenes, DUI arrests, agency
assists, and all the other calls we go on every day. It is my privilege
to not only get to serve the public, but to work with each and every
one of you! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

Police arrested a Chickasha man July
31 after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend because she didn’t come home early
enough.
According to the affidavit, a Chickasha
officer was dispatched to the 700 block
of Fifth Street in reference to a domestic
assault on July 29. When she arrived, she
made contact with the victim, who said
her boyfriend, Brandon Lee Pool, 25, hit
her in the face after she stayed the night
with a friend. She said Pool picked her up
from the friend’s house and was mad at
her because she didn’t go home earlier. The victim added she got out
of Pool’s truck after he hit her, but he also exited the truck and forced
her back into the vehicle.
Once they arrived at her residence, the victim said she walked
back to her friend’s house. Pool drove by the residence and yelled at
the victim to “get back in the car.” He then sped off, almost hitting
the victim with his truck.
On July 31 around 1 a.m., police arrived at Pool’s residence in the
600 block of W. Washington Avenue. While knocking on the door,
they saw Pool asleep in his room; he then got off the mattress and
met the officers at the front door. When an officer told him he was
under arrest for domestic abuse, Pool muttered, “Her sister told me
she wasn’t going to press charges.”
While searching the residence to see if Pool’s young daughter was
in the house, police found what appeared to be a marijuana joint
on Pool’s mattress. There was also a pipe with burnt residue and
a baggy containing a green leafy substance on the floor beside the
mattress. The joint field-tested positive for marijuana.
Pool is being charged with domestic abuse-assault and battery,
possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $10,000 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on September 5, 2014.

A traffic stop for a defective taillight resulted in the arrest of two men after
an officer found drugs in the vehicle.
On August 2, a Grady County deputy was driving eastbound on Choctaw Avenue around 10:50 p.m. when he saw a vehicle turn onto Choctaw from Fourth
Street — the driver’s side taillight wasn’t working, according to the affidavit.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over and asked the very nervous driver for
her information. He also asked the passengers, Chickasha man Ester Thomas
Knight, 25, and Shaun Allen Dickson, 36, for their identification.
While he was checking their information, the deputy noticed Dickson kept
moving around nervously. Dispatch advised Dickson had a warrant out of Caddo County.
The deputy placed Dickson under arrest and asked the driver if there was
anything illegal in her vehicle.
She told him, “No, but you can check if you want.”
The deputy found a sunglasses case that contained a small baggy of a white
crystal substance, a small baggy containing a green leafy substance, a glass
pipe and a pair of sunglasses. The substances tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana.
The driver became upset when she saw the items in the case. The deputy asked her if she had
seen the sunglasses before; she told him Knight had been wearing them earlier.
The officer asked Knight if the sunglasses case belonged to him; he said no. He also denied
knowing about the drugs found inside the case. But when the officer said the driver was going to
be arrested for the meth and weed since it was found inside of her vehicle, Knight admitted that
the drugs were his.
The officer transported Dickson and Knight to jail. When they arrived, Dickson told the officer
that something had fallen out of his pocket. The officer found a cigarette lighter in the back of the
patrol car. While Dickson was changing, a baggy of methamphetamine and a glass pipe fell out of
his underwear.
Dickson is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear
in court on September 3, 2014.
Knight is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $4,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on August 21, 2014.
