NEWS FROM THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE
During the middle of last month, we a had
saturation patrol in the St. Louis and Pearson
area.
During this saturation Deputy Doe got into a
pursuit of a stolen Mustang, which was driven by Nathan Dorsey of Shawnee. Dorsey was
taken into custody and the Mustang was recovered.
Dorsey is currently in the Safety Center on
a $12,000 bond for Eluding, Possession of
stolen vehicle, Driving Under Suspension, and
Speeding.
We also performed around twenty traffic
stops, which yielded in one impound of a vehicle for having a stolen tag and an arrest for two
felony warrants.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
In other news, The Fugitive Task Force, Night
Shift Deputies, and Maud Police Department
served a warrant in St. Louis on a Jacob Brauning, who had outstanding warrants out of
Ponotoc and Pittsburg Counties. Brauning refused to exit the residence, hid in the attic, then
attempted to flee on the roof, but was unsuccessful. Brauning was taken into custody and
booked on his warrants and Obstruction. He is
being held on a $2000.00 bond.

Our office is seeking public assistance in
identifying a suspect(s) involved in a shooting on Interstate 40 and the
Earlsboro Ext 192 on the Eastbound side late between Saturday night
8/6/2022 11:30 pm and early Sunday morning 8/7/2022 12 am.
The victims were driving a white 4-door Ford pickup Eastbound in the
area of the Grand Casino when they first encountered a dark color small
SUV with a roof rack believed to have Texas plates. The victims believe the
vehicle might be a Toyota Rav4 purple in color.
The suspect(s) vehicle encountered the victims by tailgating them and
flashing bright lights at them twice between the Grand Casino and the
Earlsboro exit before shooting at them. The victims exited Interstate 40 at
exit 192 and the suspect(s) continued East on the interstate.
If you were a witness to the incident, we encourage you to call (405)
273-1727 and speak to Lt. Steven Sample or email him at [email protected]

SAVE A LIFE, REPORT ABUSE
On August 10, the Johnston County Sheriff’s
Office received a call of a possible medical situation in the Town of Mannsville. The caller stated
his wife was hard to wake up and he found her
unconscious. The caller stated he was driving her
to the hospital in Ardmore. The call was transferred
to Carter County dispatch, in hopes they could intercept and provide aid.
The vehicle pulled into the Dickson City Hall,
where Dickson Police began life saving measures.
The female was then transported to Mercy Ardmore by ambulance.
JCSO was contacted by the hospital in Ardmore
stating the female had injuries that appeared to be
from physical abuse, and she was in grave condition. Prior to Johnston County Deputies arriving
at the Ardmore hospital, the victim was flown to
Oklahoma City for higher level of care.
Deputy Ty Richeson arrived at the hospital in OKC and learned through the investigation the victim was on life support with a very low percentage of survival.
The victim had severe physical injuries consistent with being physically beaten. The
husband, Cecil Browning Higginbotham, was also at the hospital and was interviewed.
Based upon evidence of physical domestic abuse, Deputy Richeson arrested Higginbotham for violation of domestic abuse, transporting him back to Johnston County
where he was booked into jail.
Sadly, the next day, the victim died, succumbing to her injuries. Johnston County
Deputies conducted a search warrant of the residence in Mannsville, photographing
the scene and collecting evidence. The charges presented to the District Attorney’s
Office against Higginbotham will now include Murder in the first degree.
“Please keep this victim, her children and her family in your prayers. This is a senseless, sickening and evil crime, my deputies and I will do everything in our power to
ensure justice for the victim and her family. If you know anyone suffering from domestic
violence please say something, you may just save someone’s life.”

A South Carolina man was caught rubbing buttered toast all over his neighbor’s SUV
window. Seems like a foolproof plan, how did he get caught? According to MSN, He
just dropped the toast a few feet away from the car and made his departure, causing
a nearby woman to notice and call the police. The police charged the now hungry man
with “malicious damage to property” and estimated the cost of damage to be about $1.
What’s the hottest you’ve ever been? Temperature-wise of course, because if it was
in physical terms, we all know we were the hottest at our 5th grade, bowl-cut, chubs
stage. But really, to what extent would you go to cool off?
Hopefully not so far you’d get arrested, but this is exactly what a group of four young
men in Germany did. On a hot day, they decided to make their own pool in a car.
In a BMW no less. A policeman noticed a very strange convertible driving down the
road. Upon closer viewing, it appeared that the bathing-suit clad men were splashing
around in the water-filled car, clearly intoxicated. Though there was no law against driving around with a pool in someone’s car, they were probably charged for driving without
a permit. Talk about hot water.
What do you guys think about sausage? I suppose it’s better than a hot dog, which
in turn is better than bologna (which is basically giant hot dog slices?). And no matter
what, it has to be better than Lunchables *shudder*.
No matter your opinion, sausage was a huge disappointment for this Phoenix man.
He attempted to rob two large businesses, first an Ace Hardware and then a Safeway.
He put his hand under his shirt to look like a gun, but the cashier was not fooled and
calmly said “no” to his request for money. Equally unsuccessful was his attempt to rob
a Safeway, which resulted in him being escorted out of the building. He waited a few
minutes before returning into the store to snag a small breakfast sausage and was
therefore charged with shoplifting. I guess all that failing worked up an appetite.
Sometimes people don’t want their babies. Throughout history, these people have
found convenient ways to get rid of them. In the middle ages, a popular solution was
to leave a swaddled infant on the doorstep of a misfortunate new parent. Worse for the
child, another option was an orphanage. In later times, parents could even put their kid
in the circus for life. The last one, I’m actually jealous of.
It might not have been this Florida woman’s goal to give away her child, but that’s
sure what it looked like. She had gone shopping at Dillard’s, and tried to shoplift $260
worth of clothing using her baby stroller. When a police officer followed her out to her
car, she flipped out and eventually threw her baby in its little carseat at him. The baby
was not injured. The shoplifter received three charges, including “resisting a police officer without violence”. Um. What would be violent, throwing her entire family?
STUPID CRIMINALS
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

ARREST MADE IN MURDER
INVESTIGATION OF ADA MAN
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has a suspect in custody after
the murder of 63-year-old Robert Whiteley of
Ada.
Drew Derrick Davis, 27, was arrested by the
Tulsa Police Department (TPD) on August 25
on a felony warrant for First Degree Murder.
The investigation was initiated on August
21 after the Tulsa Police Department (TPD)
received information that an individual was
attempting to sell the deceased’s truck at the
River Spirit Casino in Tulsa.
TPD contacted the Ada Police Department
to conduct a welfare check at 915 Summer
Tree in Ada, where Whiteley lived.
On August 22, an Ada police officer spoke with a family member of Whiteley’s who said he was missing. The family member went with Ada police to
Whiteley’s house, and just before 2 p.m., entered the home. It was clear that
foul play had occurred and upon searching the house, Whiteley was found in
a back bedroom. He had been stabbed to death.
The Ada Police Department requested assistance from the OSBI at that
point. At 4 p.m., TPD contacted the OSBI and said the victim’s vehicle had
been located and impounded and the individuals with the truck at the time
were detained. Based on the evidence and interviews, Davis was identified as
the suspect. He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail and then transported
by OSBI Special Agents to the Pontotoc County Jail where he remains.

PROVERBS 21:15
A slain pastor’s wife received a life sentence after
she pleaded guilty to having him murdered last year
by her lover.
According to OSBI, the investigation began on
March 22, 2021 when the Ada Police Department
requested OSBI assistance with a homicide.
Just after 1 a.m., Kristie Dawnell Evans placed a
9-1-1 call stating an intruder had entered her home
at 1420 Northcrest Drive and shot her husband.
When officers arrived at the residence, they found
50-year-old Pastor David Evans with a gunshot
wound. He died at the scene.
The Ada Police Department requested a full investigation by the OSBI.
Based on evidence collected and interviews
conducted, Kristie and Kahlil Deamie Square were
identified as suspects in David’s murder. Kristie met
agents at the Ada Police Department where she
confessed and was immediately placed into custody.
Law enforcement was able to locate Square at a
residence on South Harrah Road in Newalla where
he was taken into custody without incident.
Evans entered a plea of guilty without a plea
agreement on August 10 on the charge of murder first degree. She was sentenced to a term of life imprisonment in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections with time served since March 25, 2021.
Square is scheduled to appear in court on September 22 for his plea date.
Sentencing is scheduled for November 15.

FORMER COMANCHE COUNTY DETENTION OFFICER
ARRESTED FOR 2ND DEGREE RAPE
Special Agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) arrested Kevin Warren
Buttler, 49, after a female inmate reported being
sexually violated by the former detention officer.
The OSBI investigation began at the request of
the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office on July 25
after the inmate reported the incident to jail staff
the day before. The inmate stated that Buttler
came into her cell to deliver lunch. While inside
her cell, he unzipped his pants, pulled out his genitals and motioned for her to come over to him
and perform a sexual act. She was performing the sexual act for about five
seconds when Buttler heard a noise and zipped up his pants. The inmate’s
cellmate was present during the incident.
Buttler was questioned by OSBI Special Agents on August 4 at the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office. After being interviewed, he was arrested
and booked into the jail. He is facing a charge of Second Degree Rape.
