American Horror Story actor Evan Peters portrays serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the new series co-created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.
The series came available on September 21st, starring actors such as Niecy Nash, Richard Jenkins, Molly Ringwald, Michael Learned, Penelope Ann Miller, and more.
Without providing too many spoilers, this series offers a glimpse of the atrocities humanity can commit. Moreover, this haunting series, based on the actual actions of a cannibal killer, illustrates how more proactive action by police could have decreased the number of Dahmer’s 17 victims. The series might leave you with the frustration of the criminal justice system. Niecy Nash’s character Glenda Cleveland illustrates this well. Nash stars as the next-door neighbor of Dahmer, Glenda, taking you on this frustrating journey of a woman who is not taken seriously by law enforcement.
Evan Peter’s portrayal of Dahmer paints a chilling, believable reflection of the man behind this cannibalistic case. Murphy and Brennan’s reflection and focus on victims’ backgrounds offer the viewer a humanized, stomach-turning reality of what went on.
In essence, the audience gets to follow victims’ stories more candidly, a perspective that is often forgotten, or less reflected upon when serial killers tend to be sensationalized and nearly uplifted on film for the viewer’s pure entertainment.
You can now find this binge-worthy, 10-part series ‘DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’ on Netflix.
