After a two-day search for missing Athena Strand, she has been found dead.
In connection with Strand’s disappearance, Tanner Lynn Horner (31) of Fort Worth was arrested. Horner allegedly made contact with Strand while delivering a FedEx package at the victim’s father and stepmom’s home in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
Suspect Horner confessed to murdering Strand and was arrested on aggravated kidnapping and capital murder charges. During his confession, the FedEx driver revealed to Wise County authorities the location of the missing child’s body.
Investigators were able to track down Horner based on a tip. The suspect had dropped off a package at Strand’s home prior to her disappearance.
According to the FBI, Strand may have been murdered approximately an hour post-abduction. (WFAA)
