Kevin Cobbs, a former school principal and
boys’ basketball coach at Southwest Covenant
High School in Yukon, pleaded guilty to child
pornography and peeping Tom charges.
Cobbs was arrested in March 2025 after a cyber tip was sent to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Investigators discovered that Cobbs had secretly recorded videos of boys
in a locker room from the chest down. A probable cause affidavit revealed
that Cobbs had also admitted to sharing those photos on Snapchat. It’s
worth noting that Cobbs had been employed at the school for 15 years.
Cobbs entered his blind pleas on January 16, and his sentencing is scheduled for April 23. THOMAS

AROUND THE STATE
“Just the Facts Ma’am”:
- Someone steals a unique tool from victim’s
vehicle
- Victim found the stolen tool for sale on Facebook Marketplace
- Officers arranged to buy the tool from the seller
- The suspect arrived with the tool and was arrested
The Rest of the Story:
On January 8th, 2026, around 5:30 p.m., Tulsa Police Officers took a report
from a man who said someone broke into his work truck at Urban Oak Apartments near 51st and Lewis.
The victim stated that someone sifted through his toolboxes and stole a
$1,500 Ridgid NaviTrack Scout locator tool. The victim then showed Officers
multiple Facebook Marketplace posts showing what he believed to be his tool
listed for half, and sometimes, a quarter of the value.
Officers reached out to the listing parties and agreed to meet to buy the item in
a parking lot near 62nd and Peoria. The seller, identified as 29-year-old Shavonn
Byllups, arrived carrying the case with the tool inside.
Byllups claimed she met a “friend” on the street who asked her if she wanted
to make some quick cash selling something on Facebook. She was unable to
give Officers much information about who gave her the stolen item.
The victim had his name and other unique markings on the case for the tool,
making it easy for Officers to identify it as the
stolen item as Byllups arrived.
Byllups was arrested and booked into the
Tulsa County Jail for Knowingly Concealing
Stolen Property.
Facebook Marketplace shoppers should know that if the
price seems “too good to be
true,” it probably is.

RECKLESS BEHAVIOR
A 36-year-old Elk City man was arrested after
he allegedly led police officers on a pursuit near
Sayre on January 4.
According to reports, authorities received reports that a red Ford SUV was driving recklessly
on I-40 as the driver drove into Beckham County
from Texas. The reckless driving was first reported
near mile marker 173 in Texas.
After the driver crossed the state line, officers tried to stop the vehicle near
mile marker 14. The driver, later identified as Kevin Lanell Scott, just kept driving
despite the emergency lights and sirens on police vehicles.
During the pursuit, Scott turned on his hazard lights and waved for officers to
pass, driving approximately 60 mph. He eventually turned off of I-40 at Exit 20
near Highway 283 and came to a stop, but refused to exit the vehicle and follow
officer commands.
While officers tried to place Scott under arrest, they stopped traffic on Highway 283, just in case. Officers eventually removed the man from the vehicle and
took him to the ground before placing him under arrest.
Officers discovered the SUV Scott was driving had a Virginia license plate that
was apparently registered to another vehicle.
Scott is being charged with eluding/attempting to elude a police officer and
resisting an officer. His bond was set at $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on February 23, 2026.

A man is locked up in a Franklin County, Ohio, jail in
January after Hilliard Police said he threatened to shoot
at people in traffic.
25-year-old Chase Osborne is now in custody.
At around 2:56 p.m., the Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center began receiving numerous phone calls saying there was a white man walking
eastbound on Cemetery Rd, and he was possibly on
drugs. These calls also said the man was “waving a
gun” and “pretending like he was going to shoot traffic.”
This man was later identified as Osborne.
Court documents reveal that Osborne was captured on city surveillance cameras waving a firearm.
Officers from Hilliard Police, Ohio, began running lights and sirens to the area. Osborne
was seen on video surveillance at the front of the gas station before retreating to the
bathroom.
“And as he came out of the bathroom after being in there for a minute, the cops came
in with their guns drawn and arrested him,” Coleman said. “Shocking that it happened.”
Police found a gun stashed in a trash can in the men’s bathroom, covered by paper
towels.
Coleman shared that his manager and parents have been checking in on him since
the incident.
“They wanted to make sure I was okay,” he said.
Osborne admitted to police that he purchased the gun and was an avid drug user,
experiencing a mental health episode at the time. He has been charged with tampering
with evidence, weapons under disability, and a misdemeanor charge for inducing panic.

A woman is accused of twisting a loss prevention
officer in a sensitive area to escape with Hershey’s
chocolate and feminine pads.
According to KFDM, 40-year-old Keri Aultz stole
two bags of Hershey’s chocolate and feminine pads
Tuesday night at a store in Beaumont, Texas.
Beaumont police said a loss prevention officer attempted to stop Aultz on her way to her car, but she pushed the officer and grabbed
him. She also allegedly lunged at a store manager.
“Afterward, Aultz exited the vehicle and grabbed the asset protection personnel’s
left nipple and twisted it causing him to feel pain,” the arrest report obtained by KFDM
said.
Aultz was charged with robbery. She also had outstanding warrants for previous
theft offenses.
Aultz’s bond is set at $75,000.
The items Aultz allegedly stole cost $16.21.

WARRANT ISSUED
FOR ARSON SUSPECT
Weatherford woman Halie Emberlyn Short, 25, has a
felony warrant for her arrest for a fire that took place at
a trailer in November 2025.
According to reports, Weatherford police officers
were sent to the University Drive trailer park at approximately 12:30 a.m. after they received a 911 call about
a kid screaming at an adult to stop.
Not long after that call, dispatch received another call
that a trailer was on fire.
When officers arrived at the location, they saw that the south side of a trailer had flames
coming out of a window. Short lying on the ground outside. Officers kept the woman
outside while officers from Southwestern Oklahoma State University tried to use a fire
extinguisher to put out the flames.
Authorities with the fire department investigated and determined that the fire was started inside the residence.
Short’s fiancé told police that he was sleeping when she woke him up, yelling about
a fire. The man made sure the kids were out of the trailer before he tried to put out the
flames with a hose. He told police he saw a paper towel roll that was completely on fire.
He also said a propane tank inside an office area exploded and blew out a window. The
man later said that he thinks the fire was accidentally started in the office area where
Short had been drinking while he was asleep. He said he was trying to leave the relationship and was worried about safety.
Short’s sister and sister-in-law told police that Short’s story of what happened had
changed. They said they thought she could have started the fire.
Short is being charged with arson in the first degree after a judge found probable cause
to support that she was responsible for the fire, A warrant was issued for her arrest on
January 27, 2026, with a $50,000 bond. TASHA

THROW THE
BOOK AT HIM
A Cordell man is facing a felony assault charge
after he assaulted a jail deputy with an unusual
weapon.
Christian Lane Worcester, 25, was charged
January 16 with assault and battery on a police
officer, in Washita County District Court.
According to court records, Worcester, an inmate at the jail, allegedly threw a book at a female jailer, but, in her best Wonder Woman move, she was able to block the
book before it struck her.
Bond for Worcester was set at $10,000. The crime, if found guilty, is punishable by a fine of up to $500 or imprisonment for up to 5 years, or both.

UNSOLVED COLD CASE
Janice Marie Buono was twenty-nine years old
when she was last seen alive on January 1st,
2002.
At the time that she went missing, Janice had
been living a rough life. Janice had moved to Lawton after losing two of her children in a fire but
what she thought was a fresh start was a path to
addiction. She had been recently staying at a local
Lawton motel with another woman. Both had been fighting substance abuse
disorder, often engaging in sex work to pay for their addiction. It seems though,
that Janice was on her way to turning her life around when she went missing.
She had recently called home, saying she wanted to come back and get herself
together. Unfortunately, she never got to do so.
According to the woman she roomed with at the motel, Janice walked one
way that New Year’s Day, and she walked another. The next time anyone would
see Janice was February 23rd, 2002. A farmer was repairing a fence when he
discovered Janice’s body floating under a bridge one mile east of State Hwy 65
off of Townley Rd. Her body was found within miles of where Mandy Raite’s body
was found less than two years earlier. Janice’s cause of death remains unknown,
though it is believed she fell victim to a serial killer, likely the Lawton serial murderer, that was preying on sex workers within the area at that time
Janice was unfortunately described in the media as just another prostitute
who was killed. She was also described as being a white woman. She was not
just either of these things. Janice was a proud mother of three children. All of
whom were very young when they lost their mother. All of whom just want justice
for her now. Janice was not a white woman- she was proudly Comanche. And
she deserves for someone to come forward about what happened to her- because make no mistake- someone knows something.
If you have any information about the murder of Janice Buono, please contact
the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017. You may also message us here if you wish to
remain anonymous.

THAT'S METHED UP!
Everyone is familiar with the phrase “New Year, new
me” but for law enforcement, it’s a new year, but our
mottos aren’t changing!! Especially when we say…”you
can run, but you’re only going to jail tired”, cause that
one ain’t never gonna change!!
Deputies were in the area of Minna Lane in Merritt Island, Florida, when they observed
Mario Thomas conducting a hand-to-hand transaction before leaving the area on his
scooter. That’s right folks, I said scooter!!
Well anyways, deputies initiated a traffic stop and Thomas decided to try and flee or
“scoot” if you will, to avoid arrest!! As you might imagine, Thomas fell off the scooter
and decided to continue trying to flee on foot!! Apparently, Thomas thought he would
outrun deputies, but just in case he got caught, while he was running, he tossed a bag
which deputies were able to recover and also catch up
to Thomas!!
Well, as you can see from the picture, Thomas definitely looks like he went to jail tired, but to show you
what good sports we are, we gave him a ride in our
Courtesy Shuttle so that he could rest before arriving
at the jail and meeting all his new
friend!!
Thomas was ultimately charged
with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, and resisting
without violence.
