FORMER SHERIFF'S DEPUTY PLEADS
GUILTY TO FALSIFYING RECORDS TO
OBSTRUCT A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Wesley
Wayne Hunter, Jr. 28, of Yukon, pleaded guilty to
destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in
a federal investigation.
The Government’s Superseding Indictment alleged that on July 20, 2023, while on duty in his
official capacity as a Canadian County Sheriff’s
Deputy, Hunter purposefully deactivated the mobile tracking system on his work
phone, altering and falsifying the official record of his activities.
As part of his plea, Hunter admitted to deactivating the mobile tracking system
while transporting a female pretrial detainee from Bryan County to Canadian
County before pulling his patrol car off the transport route. Hunter further admitted he did this to conceal and impede any future investigation into his subsequent criminal misconduct.
Hunter will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending a presentence investigation.

AROUND THE STATE
Trail-blazing
On June 4, around 7:45 p.m., an Officer attempted to stop a red Chevy sedan near 5100
S. Riverside. The sedan ran a red light and was
driving on the rim of the front passenger tire.
Instead of stopping, the Chevy drove onto the
River Parks pedestrian trails and continued driving south. The suspect put numerous pedestrians and cyclists in danger on the trail, forcing
some of them to jump out of the way to avoid being
hit.
Officers quickly mobilized in the area and set up
stop sticks ahead of the pursuit, successfully deflating the driver side tires. The Chevy stopped near
7100 S. Riverside on the trail.
Officers gave the driver, identified as Wayne
Seward, numerous commands to exit the vehicle,
but he refused. Pepper balls were deployed in a
attempt to coerce the suspect out of the car. Ultimately with the help of a K9 Officer, Seward was
taken into custody.
Wayne Seward was arrested for Eluding and Obstructing Justice.

STRAIGHT OUT OF LA
A 60-year-old man from Los Angeles was allegedly caught with some illegal drugs during a
traffic stop in Elk City on June 20.
According to reports, an Oklahoma Highway
Patrol trooper stopped Eric Tucker for a traffic
violation on Interstate 40 near mile marker 38.
During the stop, the trooper noticed the smell
of marijuana. He also noticed that Tucker appeared to be nervous, even though the trooper
just gave him a written warning.
A K9 was dispatched to the scene. The dog alerted to the presence of
drugs. Troopers searched Tucker’s vehicle and found a 20-pound bag of
meth, a 2.42-pound bag of heroin, and a bag containing 1.33 pounds of
cocaine.
Tucker is being charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in illegal
drugs. His bond was set at $250,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on August 26, 2024.

MULTIPLE CHOICE
Elk City man Robert Eugene Neely, 45, is
being charged with embezzlement after he allegedly embezzled from two different employers.
According to reports, Neely allegedly embezzled just under $5,000 worth of items from
one employer and approximately $200 worth of
items from a second employer. He reportedly
committed the embezzlement between April 24
and June 1 of this year.
During an investigation, authorities discovered 15 pawn tickets that linked
the stolen items to the man. Investigators spoke to Neely about the allegations - he confessed that he had committed the crimes.
Neely is being charged with two counts of embezzlement, false declaration
of ownership in pawn, and a pattern of criminal offenses. His bond was set at
$5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 12, 2024.

AROUND THE NATION
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- Boxer Ryan Garcia is
speaking out on social media following his arrest for felony
vandalism at a Beverly Hills hotel.
In a series of posts to X on Saturday and Sunday, Garcia compared himself to Britney Spears and Donald Trump
and spoke about medical issues as well as his religious
beliefs.
Police say the boxer caused about $15,000 in damage
to the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills on Saturday.
After being booked, the fighter complained of a medical issue and was taken to Cedars
Sinai Medical Center.
He’s now out on bail.
“I feel like I’m Ryan Spears Aka Britney Spears,” he wrote in one post.
An attorney representing Garcia issued a statement that the boxer is going through some
mental health and family struggles.
“This comes at an extraordinarily challenging time for
Ryan, as he has been grappling with devastating news regarding his mother’s health,” said attorney Darin T. Chavez
with Tricarico Chavez LLP.
“First and foremost, we urge everyone to respect Ryan’s privacy during this difficult period. Ryan has been
open about his struggles with mental health over the years
and at this time he is dealing with an immense emotional burden. The support and understanding from fans and
the public are crucial as he navigates these personal challenges. We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the
resources he needs. Our team is committed to ensuring
that he receives the appropriate help and care to address
both his immediate and long-term well-being. We ask for
continued support and compassion as Ryan focuses on
his family and his health at this time.”
Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) faces suspension from the New
York Athletic Commission after he tested positive for the
banned substance ostarine in the lead-up to his majority
decision victory over Devin Haney in April in a major upset.
Garcia floored Haney three times but was ineligible to
win the WBC junior welterweight title after he was 3.2
pounds overweight.
A decision is forthcoming from the commission, and his
victory could be overturned.

I WANT CANDY
An 18-year-old Sentinel man and a trio of underage delinquents allegedly broke into a grocery store on June 13 and stole some candy,
booze, and cash.
According to court documents, Dathyn Scott
threw a 5-pound weight through the glass door
of the store, located in the 600 block of South
Third Street in Sentinel. His accomplices, a
10-year-old, 12-year-old, and 17-year-old, also
joined in on the candy heist.
When the four suspects went into the store, they reportedly took seven
packages of Lifesaver gummies, four packages of Starburst Swirlers, two
packs of Twisted Tea, and approximately $525 in cash.
Scott is being charged with burglary in the second degree, contributing
to the delinquency of minors, and petit larceny. He is scheduled to appear
in court on July 16, 2024. Bond information was unavailable at the time of
publication.

DUI: SECOND OFFENSE IN 10
YEARS
Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty BLAINE COUNTY 17 | JULY 2024
FROM THE SHERIFF
At 10:30 on June 21, a Blaine County deputy
conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. After speaking with the driver, the deputy had sufficient cause
to request a K9. The deputy requested a K9. A
Blaine County Sheriff’s Office K9, K9 Neo, alerted
to the trunk of the vehicle. A search of the trunk
revealed a safe that had been bolted to the frame
of the car. Deputies were able to gain access to the safe and located approximately two pounds of methamphetamine. Deputies arrested the driver for Aggravated Trafficking of Methamphetamine. Deputies believe the illegal narcotics
were being taken to Woodward.
The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to the interdiction of illegal narcotics that are transiting our roads and poisoning our communities.
This is just an arrest and not a conviction.
