A 30-year-old Oklahoma City man was taken into custody
after his grandpa reported he had stolen his truck.
Jonathan Daniel Davis was charged Oct. 2 with unauthorized use of a vehicle and arrested a few days later on Oct. 5.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Sept. 20,
Oklahoma City Police Officer J. Richardson was flagged
down by an OHP along North Morgan Rd. and said the
owner of a stolen 1991 Ford F750 truck needed to talk to
him.
The stolen truck’s owner told Richardson that his truck
was stolen from his place of business in Jones. He added
he saw on video someone driving away from the business in
the truck and believed it was his grandson, Davis. He was
later contacted by the OHP who told him it was along side Morgan Road in Piedmont
broken down, and he met the OHP immediately at the scene.
After a short investigation, it was determined that the suspect was indeed the victim’s
grandson, Jonathan Davis.
A warrant for Davis’ arrest was issued, along with a $5000 bond, and he faces a sentence of imprisonment for one to five years, a fine of up to $5000, or both.

STOLEN PROPERTY
An Edmond landlord was
charged Sept. 12 with misdemeanor larceny of a dog after
he picked up his tenant’s children’s puppy and walked off
with it, all while the children
were hollering the puppy was
theirs.
Frederick Lydick, 35, was
booked into the Canadian
County Jail on the complaint
that stemmed from the May 24,
2012 incident.
According to the police affidavit, Officer Penick was dispatched to the El Reno police
station that day in reference in a theft report. Upon arrival, he
made contact with the owner of the puppy and she said she received a phone call saying someone had taken her puppy. When
she arrived home, she learned her kids were playing with the puppy and it escaped into the pool area.
The pool gates were locked so her children were trying to call
the puppy out of the pool area. While they were calling it, Lydick
picked up the puppy and left. She said the children told her they
were telling him the puppy belonged to them, but he ignored them.
The victim said she went and told the manager of the property
about the theft. The manager called Lydick and Lydick said the
dog was in the pool area so he took the dog to Wal-Mart and gave
it away.
He was booked into jail Sept. 24.

Batman Busted
Michigan police busted Mark Wayne Williams, known as “The
Petoskey Batman,” after he showed up at a car accident Sept. 29
The 33-year-old wanted to help, but police said he only got in
their way.
“Troopers were securing a large area for the search of a subject
for leaving the scene of a personal injury crash when Williams
took it upon himself to search the area in his Batman persona,”
the state police said in a statement.
The Caped Crusader wanna-be insisted he could help police
find the driver involved in the wreck, who had wandered off.
“He wouldn’t clear the scene and we had a canine out there
and he kept screwing up the scent,” Sgt. Jeff Gorno.
Since Williams wouldn’t leave, officers arrested him. He was charged with obstructing police
in an investigation and resisting.
Authorities also confiscated his Batman attire. He is due back in court Oct. 18.
This isn’t the first time “The Petoskey Batman” has run afoul of the law.
Last year Williams was arrested while dangling from the side of a building. During that bust
he was found with “a baton type striking weapon, a can of chemical irritant spray, and a pair of
lead-lined gloves.”
He was later sentenced to six months probation, during which time he was forbidden to wear
his Batman costume.

A Weatherford man was taken into custody Sept. 17 after
a routine traffic stop next to the university busted him with
a joint.
It wasn’t the first time Donald Two Babies, III, 34, had
been busted for drugs. In 2004, he was convicted of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, according to the
police affidavit.
Patrolman Bryce White was called to a routine traffic stop
next to Southwestern Oklahoma State University as backup
for Patrolman Joseph Cox. When he arrived, Cox told him
that he had stopped the driver because her center brake
light was out. He soon learned that her driver’s license had
been suspended. White stood close as Cox placed her under
arrest.
The passenger, Two Babies, got out of the car so it could
be inventoried for impound. On the passenger’s side dash in a Marlboro 72’s cigarette box,
White found a marijuana joint. Two Babies denied knowing about the joint, but the driver
said she believed it was his.
Two Babies was taken to the Custer County Jail and faces charges of unlawful possession
of marijuana within 1000 feet of a university.

LARCENY of AUTO/AIRCRAFT/
OTHER MOTOR VEHicle
The Bryan County DA’s Office is actively seeking the arrest of Jessica Beth Taylor, AKA Jessica Beth Decastro. She
is a white female, 34 years old, 5 feet tall, weighing 125 lbs.
Taylor is wanted in Bryan County for Forgery, after former conviction of felony, and in Garfield County for Forgery and false declaration of ownership in Pawn.
Taylor’s current charges stem from an incident where
she attempted to pass a check stolen from a local church.
Both counties have entered Taylor/Decastro into NCIC.
Taylor is likely in the company of a 42 year-old 6 foot
white male with a prosthetic leg. He is not wanted at this
time.
Bryan County investigators have reason to believe that
the pair have fled into North Texas to evade arrest here in
Oklahoma. Both are known to frequent Casinos.
Neither Taylor nor her friend are known to have a vehicle
and are dependent on others for a ride from place to place.
Officers coming in contact with the pair should be alert for
narcotics violations, both have history of illegal drug sales and use.
If you have information on this person’s location please contact your local law enforcement
agency, or contact me, Investigator David Cathey, directly at 580-924-2987.

One of the things that is becoming
more prevalent, and with the
passing of the new open carry law,
will only continue to rise, is the number of people walking and driving
around armed. For law enforcement, this obviously creates some
challenges in our dealings with the public. I am going to attempt to
explain what we would like from the citizens who choose to go armed,
and what they can expect from us.
First, all people who wish to carry a gun on their person are
required to attend an approved concealed carry class. This goes for
those who wish to carry concealed or open. Upon completion of the
course and the requirements needed, you will be issued a Concealed
Carry License, or CCL. Let me point out, that having a CCL is a
privilege, not a right. It is issued by the state, and with it come some
responsibilities.
One of those responsibilities, and the one that is most important
to us law enforcement professionals, is the obligation to notify us
IMMEDIATELY upon contact. Lets say you get stopped for speeding
and you are a CCL holder and are armed, whether it is on your person
or just in your vehicle. The Trooper gets out of their car and asks
you to step back to them with your driver’s license and proof of
insurance. You should, before anything else, declare that you have
a CCL and are armed. Don’t wait until we see the CCL in your wallet
to tell us....that’s too late! They will then instruct you on what they
would like you to do to address this situation. There are several
things we may do at this point to accomplish this.
We may ask you to say (not reach for or move towards) where
the weapon is. Simply say the location, keeping your hands on the
steering wheel or where they can be seen. If its on your person, we
may wish to disarm you for the duration of the traffic stop, and will
give instructions accordingly. We may simply separate the weapon
from the ammunition and make the weapon safe, and then leave it
in your vehicle. Each officer will handle this in the way that he or
she chooses in order to maintain their own safety. None of these
methods are meant to infer that we feel threatened by a CCL holder,
or that we think you are a criminal or bad person. They are simply
ways that we can deal with the issue of a gun being present in order
to maintain our safety and the safety of others.
Hopefully, this will give you some guidelines on what we are
expecting when you come in contact with us while carrying a
firearm. With respect and understanding, we can all feel safe with an
armed citizen, while respecting that citizen’s right to carry. Thanks
for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Anthony Banks
A federal appeals court has rejected the
appeal of an Oklahoma death row inmate
convicted of fi rst-degree murder for the
slaying of a woman more than 30 years ago.
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
ruled in the case of Anthony Banks, who
was convicted of the June 6, 1979, killing of
24-year-old Sun Travis.
Travis was abducted and raped and her
partially clad body was found near a trash
heap. She had been shot in the head.
Banks was convicted largely on the basis of DNA evidence found on
Travis.
Banks is also serving a life sentence for the 1978 murder of a Tulsa
convenience store clerk. He wasn’t in custody when Travis was slain.

Prison Pooch
“Pep, The Cat-Murdering Dog” was a black
Labrador Retriever admitted to Eastern
State Penitentiary on August 12, 1924. Prison
folklore tells us that Pennsylvania Governor
Gifford Pinchot used his executive powers
to sentence Pep to Life Without Parole for
killing his wife’s cherished cat. Prison records
support this story: Pep’s inmate number (C2559) is skipped in prison intake logs and
inmate records.

A Midwest City man was arrested after he was pulled over on
I-40 and the trooper found a whole slew of drugs and paraphernalia.
Jarrod Fanning, 32, was charged Oct. 2 with distribution of
CDS- including possession with intent to distribute in Beckham
County District Court.
OHP Trooper Vern Roland stopped a Pontiac speeding along at
78 mph on I-40 in between Sayre and Erick at Mile Marker 15, according to the affidavit. When Roland approached the driver, later
identified as Fanning, he could smell the reek of marijuana coming
from inside the car. He also noticed Fanning was sweating profusely and was “tweaking around in circles.”
Fanning admitted to the trooper that he had smoked some pot
earlier and he had a meth pipe in the car. When Roland searched his vehicle, he found several
burnt marijuana roaches and the glass meth pipe in the driver’s door.
In Fanning’s glove box, he also found a bank bag with two more glass meth pipes in it,
along with a false “D” size battery with two bags of crystal meth inside.
But that wasn’t all...
There were also 100 empty bags with residue in some, a digital scale, and two bags of marijuana. Fanning admitted he sold marijuana and meth at the state fair and at other fairs in
other states where he works.
Fanning was transported to the Beckham County Jail where he was booked in.

An Okeene man was arrested Sept. 24 after he attempted to kill
his girlfriend by trying to run over her with his truck.
Officer Craig Smith received a call around 10:30 p.m. that night
from the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office about an ongoing domestic that was taking place out by the Okeene airport. When he arrived at the airport, he drove to the south end to the hanger where
he saw a woman climbing out of the trash dumpster. The woman
ran to the officer’s truck and jumped into the back seat crying and
shaking, according to the police affidavit.
Smith asked the woman what was going on and she said Iven
was going to kill her and throw her body in the shale pit east of
town. When she got free and jumped out of the truck, Iven tried to
run her over with his truck, hitting her in the back of the right leg.
She then ran out into the field and called Blaine County Sheriff’s Department and gave the
truck’s description.
Deputy Lonnie Spiva and Deputy Brian Prichett spotted the truck in Okeene and pulled it
over. They arrested Iven and he was then transported to the Blaine County Jail and booked in
for domestic assault and battery and domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Iven was officially charged Oct. 3 with kidnapping, endeavoring to commit an act of violence, assault with a dangerous weapon, and domestic abuse. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 18. Bond was set at $25,000, but the judge gave him the option of $10,000 if he
would agree to wear a GPS device. Iven chose the $25,000 bond.

Domestic violence and
abuse can happen to
anyone, yet the problem
is often overlooked, excused, or denied. This is
especially true when the
abuse is psychological,
rather than physical. Noticing and acknowledging the signs of an abusive relationship is the
first step to ending it. No
one should live in fear of
the person they love. If
you recognize yourself
or someone you know in the following warning signs and descriptions of abuse, reach out.
There is help available.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Guy E: You gave permission to give swats. What
did you think they were gonna do give him a little
tap?
Lavender B: I say let the parents paddle that
administrator!
Shawn H: Boy is 13, why would parents allow
the school to punish? If they did and it was not excessive, it is on them for handing the responsibility of
raising their children off to someone else.
Rosemary L: I thought government schools
couldn’t spank anymore. When I was in 7th grade
they couldn’t. (I’m 31 now)
Kim P: I swear, this is what’s wrong with kids
nowadays. They are such pansies, along with
their parents. When we got “swats” or punished
by our parents we did not want to call DHS, or go
to the ER..... geez suck it up parents!! YOU GAVE
PERMISSION!!
Kimberly D: If this happened at home that
mother would be facing charges, the school has
no right to put bruises on any child. What makes a
school better than a parent?
Mark C: Oh that poor poor kid, how terrible that
he got a spanking for committing an act of violence
against another kid... Boo (beep) hoo, and people
wonder why kids are so spoiled and think they can do
whatever they want these days... I can’t believe this is
all over the news...
Rick S: Seriously. It’s a punishment. It’s not
supposed to feel good. What’s wrong with people.
Jailbird magazine may not be so full if more kids had
their backsides paddled. I got them every day just
like a one a day vitamin! Probably kept me out of jail.
Get swats at school and get them for getting them at
school when you get home. Parents loving their kids
straight to jail !
Chelsea D: Just because u gave them permission
doesn’t mean they can leave bruises like that! That
was uncalled for! No child should have to be taken to
the er from swats
Brittany P: i thought society today look at
spanking as child abuse? But their doing it in school?
Im all for a butt whoopin if my children are not
acting right, these days if you spank your child in
public its abuse and will scar the child for life with
embarrassment and could get dhs involved, beating
and disciplining the child is two diff things! I know
my children will not grow up acting like fools,
that’s what’s wrong with this world kids get away
with anything, have no boundaries or rules plus no
guidance, i for one will not let the school do my job in
disciplining my child, they can get suspended and get
their punishment when they get home, whether it is a
spanking, grounding or sentence writing.
Tina: I chose my kids not to be spanked and here
is why...... The DHS steps in if they hear we are
spanking our kids, so why should the school be able
to? As for this case, Had that been the parents who
spanked that kid and left a bruise and someone at
school seen it, you bet your bottom that the DHS
would be involved and the parents investigated so
it is not “ O, they chose for their kid to be spanked
so it is what it is” Those parents and that kid trusted
that person enough to believe he would be spanked
the right way, and that does not include bruises folks.
Christina A: some of you people are completely
ignorant. giving verbal permission to “swat” your kid
is a big difference between hitting them hard enough
to leave marks and bruises. he was being punished
for violence but lets turn around and punish with
more violence?
Joseph B: Detention never helped me, but a
spanking set my a** straight
Jeffrey L: Wow. How times have changed. I
got my butt busted plenty. Always got butt busted
when i got home after getting busted at school. I
turned out great. Definitely knew right from wrong.
I had bruises on top of bruises n never cried like a
lil b**ch. Suck it up n get tough. This is what i call
the wimpification of America. I, in NO way condone
child abuse. However, there has to be punishment of
some sort. Oh and not everyone gets a blue ribbon.
Somebody’s got to lose to teach n learn a lesson. Life
will go on.
April H: To all the parents out there that do not
believe in spanking, you need to bend over and
grab the chair yourselves. You are the reason this
generation is so delinquent and misbehaved. If your
mother was like mine, I got my a** beat, I spanked
all 4 of my kids and if I do say so, they are very well
behaved and good honorable young adults!!
Be happy someone is trying to mold your kids into
people you obviously are not!!!!!
Richard W: the parent gave permission to
discipline the child, not to abuse the child!
Cordell Police said they are looking into a
school punishment that left a mark.
The mother of an Oklahoma elementary
student said her son was left bruised in a
recent paddling last week.
Linda Drew said her 6th grade son was caught
fighting at Cordell Elementary.
She and her husband were given the option of
suspension or swats.
They gave the school permission to spank
their child because they thought suspension
or detention would have hurt his grades and
football practice.
Hours later, their son was being checked out in the emergency room with
severe bruising.

Abuse can happen in many forms. Physical, emotional and
sexual are common expressions of abuse and many people
just don’t know how to handle it. If you are an
abuser, stop it. If you are the victim of abuse,
let the words of the Bible guide you as you
decide how to handle the relationship with the
abuser. If you’re in danger, you need to get
away immediately. If your abuse is not life
threatening or is something in your past
that you still struggle with, take some time
to meditate on God’s Word on this subject.
The LORD rescues the godly;
he is their fortress in times of trouble.
The LORD helps them,
rescuing them from the wicked.
He saves them,
and they find shelter in him.

A Burns Flat teen was taken into custody after he was seen with a shotgun at a high school
football game.
According to the police affidavit, Burns Flat
Police Officer Kris Wilhight was on regular patrol at the Burns Flat High School football game
Sept. 21 when he was approached by a visitor
who said a man parked along the chain link
fence at the west end zone had taken a black
pump shotgun from the trunk and was playing
with it in the front seat of his car. The visitor
pointed out the vehicle and added he was in fear for the children.
The visitor also said he knew the man and as 18-year-old Nathaniel
North.
Officers Pierce and Wilhight drove over to North and parked behind
his vehicle. Wilhight noticed North talking with several other people
parked along the fence watching the football game.
Wilhight asked North to speak with him. Officer Pierce looked inside
North’s vehicle and then signaled to his partner that he had found the
firearm. Wilhight asked North if he had a weapon and he stated that
he had a shotgun. Wilhight then placed hand restraints on North for
safety and told North he was not under arrest but was being detained.
Wilhight looked inside the vehicle and saw the black pump shotgun
laying against the front passenger seat with the butt stock facing upward. Six shotgun shells were in the cup holder in the center console
next to the shotgun.
“Is there any reason why you would have a shotgun at the high school
football game?” Wilhight asked North.
“I was going to meet up with someone later tonight and try to sell it,”
North replied.
Officer Pierce found five more shotgun shells in the glove box and a
Blackhawk holster, but no pistol.
The officers advised North it was a crime to possess a firearm on
school grounds and transported him to the Washita County Justice
Center for booking. He was later charged with felony possession of a
weapon on school property. Bond was set at $150,000.
No guns allowed, ever!
