IN TROUBLE AGAIN
A 31-year-old Tahlequah woman who was accused of killing her husband is back in jail after she
was caught driving a stolen vehicle.
According to reports, Keia Marie Beaver was
released from jail in July. Her bond was set at
$10,000. She was also ordered to weekly drug
testing and wearing a GPS monitor.
Cherokee County deputies were dispatched to
McDonald’s on February 27 to investigate a stolen
vehicle. The deputies didn’t see the vehicle, which
was a black Toyota. A blue Toyota drove by, and
the tag on it came back to a Ford.
A deputy noticed a man named Sammy Duvall
was in the front passenger seat. The driver was
identified as Beaver. A man and woman were also sitting in the backseat.
Deputies approached the vehicle and asked Beaver whose vehicle she was
driving – she said it belonged to a friend. The deputy checked the vehicle’s
VIN – it came back as stolen out of Stilwell.
Beaver was detained and Duvall was arrested for public intoxication. Beaver said she didn’t know the vehicle was stolen. She said she drove the passengers to McDonald’s because they had been drinking and she didn’t want
them to get hurt. She told the deputy Duvall and the other man told her to
drive away when they saw the deputies. She refused and instead pulled into
a parking spot. She was arrested on a complaint of a stolen vehicle.
Beaver was first arrested back in October 2017. She allegedly told police
that she accidentally shot her husband while loading a .22-caliber rifle at their
home in Hulbert. She said her husband woke up that morning and saw that
their truck window was broken. He told her to load the rifle in case the perpetrator was still outside.
Beaver later told investigators that the man had abused her that morning.
She said he threatened her with a gun, so she grabbed the rifle and fired at
him, trying to scare him.
Formal charges for this incident, bond information and court date were
unavailable at the time of publication.

4 | APRIL 2021 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty CHEROKEE COUNTY
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

OKTAHA RESIDENT FOUND GUILTY OF
ABUSIVE SEXUAL CONTACT WITH A CHILD
Robert Dale Ogden, 45, of Oktaha, was
found guilty by a federal jury of Count Two -
Abusive Sexual Contact with a Child Age 12
to 16 Years. The jury trial began with testimony on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 and concluded
on Thursday, March 4, 2021 with the guilty
verdict on Count Two. The jury returned a not
guilty verdict on Count One - Abusive Sexual
Contact with a Child Age 12 to 16 Years.
Evidence presented at trial proved that on
or about June 26, 2019, Ogden, an Indian,
did knowingly engage in and cause sexual
contact with A.P., a person who had attained
the age of 12 years but had not attained the
age of 16 years and is at least four years
younger than the person so engaging, to wit: intentionally touching, directly
and not through the clothing, of the inner thigh, with an intent to abuse, humiliate, harass, degrade, arouse, and gratify the sexual desire of any person.
The verdict was the result of an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal
Bureau of Investigation.
The Honorable John F. Heil, III, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over
the trial and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Sentencing will
be scheduled following its completion. Ogden was remanded to the custody
of the United States Marshal pending the imposition of sentencing.

APRIL IS NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE
PREVENTION MONTH
April is National Child Abuse Prevention
Month, a time to recognize that we each can
play a part in promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families in communities.
Parenting is one of the toughest and most
important jobs in America, and we all have a
stake in ensuring that parents have access to
the resources and support they need to be successful. Entire communities play a role in helping families find the strength they need to raise
safe, healthy, and productive children.
Here are some things you can do:
Get to know your neighbors. Problems seem less overwhelming when
support is nearby.
Help a family under stress. Offer to babysit, help with chores and errands,
or suggest resources in the community that can help.
Reach out to children in your community. A smile or a word of encouragement can mean a lot, whether it comes from a parent or a passing stranger.
Be an active community member. Lend a hand at local schools, community or faith-based organizations, children’s hospitals, social service agencies,
or other places where families and children are supported.
Keep your neighborhood safe. Start a Neighborhood Watch or plan a
local “National Night Out” community event. You will get to know your neighbors while helping to keep your neighborhood and children safe.
Learn how to recognize and report signs of child abuse and neglect.
Reporting your concerns may protect a child and get help for a family who
needs it.

YOU CAN’T UNSEE THAT
A 51-year-old Grove man was arrested for indecent exposure after he allegedly walked around McDonald’s with his junk hanging out on February 26.
According to the police report, a Grove officer
was dispatched to the restaurant in the 200 block
of W. Third Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. to
investigate a man tapping on the building windows.
When the officer arrived, he saw a man standing in
the line for the drive-thru window. The man had his
arms raised and upper body pressed up against the
glass. He seemed to be trying to get an employee’s
attention.
The officer recognized the man from previous interactions. The man was identified as David Paul Jackson.
As the man walked toward the officer, the officer noticed something hanging
out from under the man’s shirt. He turned on his flashlight to investigate – he
probably wishes he hadn’t. There were Jackson’s genitals, just fully exposed.
The officer asked Jackson why his penis was out. Jackson said that his
pants were falling. The officer said that didn’t make sense, because only the
front of his pants was down.
Jackson replied, “I didn’t know. I just used the bathroom in McDonald’s.”
The officer noted that it was 41 degrees. He asked the man how he didn’t
notice that his scrotum was uncovered since it was so cold.
Jackson didn’t reply to that, but he did tell the officer, “I was just trying to
get a cup of water. I have walked from the hospital to here.”
The officer spoke to an employee who told him said he tried to walk behind
the counter after he used the bathroom, but she told him to leave. He then
started banging on the window, so she called the police.
While the employee was fortunate enough not to see Jackson’s twig and
berries, she did say she was worried about that, so that’s why she walked
away from the window and called.
Jackson is being charged with indecent exposure. His bond was set at
$3,000. He failed to appear at his court date on March 1, 2021, and a warrant
was issued for his arrest.

THE TOWN OF SOUTH COFFEYVILLE WOULD LIKE TO KEEP YOU OUT OF JAIL!
If you have a warrant with the Town of South Coffeyville, Okla., and would like to get rid of
that warrant once and for all, you can contact the Court Clerk at 1-918-255-6045, option 1.
When a warrant is issued, the amount is sent to a collection agency. At that time, the collection agency will have an additional fee of 25% of the amount of the warrant added onto the
amount due. The town is offering two options at this time. If you would like a pay order, you
will need to pay 35% down of the amount due and sign a pay order. After 35% is paid and
a pay order is signed, the warrant will be recalled and the collection agency will be paid. If
you want to pay the warrant and collection fee, a discount on the warrant will be given for a
total that is over $500. No discounts will be given for pay orders. This will not apply to new
arrests. (Partial list, more to come)

CHEESEBURGER TIME!
40-year-old Lee Ann Mahurin decided to ignored an officer who caught her with drugs and paraphernalia during an
investigation on February 20; she wanted to eat a cheeseburger instead.
According to the affidavit, a Wyandotte Nation Police officer saw a woman sitting in a parked vehicle in a parking
lot at the Riverbend Casino around 4 a.m. He watched as a
man got into the passenger side of the vehicle before getting out and walking to another vehicle.
The officer exited his patrol vehicle and headed toward
the vehicle. The woman, later identified as Mahurin, ducked
down.
The officer approached the vehicle and shined his flashlight into the driver’s side window. He noticed that Mahurin
was holding a large bag. The bag contained multiple items, including a scale and assorted baggies.
Mahurin threw the bag down and started reaching around in the center console.
The officer told her to open her door and show him her hands. She refused and yelled,
“No, I ain’t done s---!”
The officer noticed a holster for a handgun beside the center console. Mahurin
reached into the console, but she didn’t pull out a gun. Instead, she pulled out a
cheeseburger and started eating it, all the while ignoring the officer’s commands.
The officer opened the woman’s door and pulled her out of the vehicle. After he put
the woman in handcuffs, she told him, “Alright, you caught me redhanded. What can
I tell you to not take me to jail?”
In the bag she had been holding, the officer found a meth pipe, 12 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and a large number of baggies.
In the vehicle, he found a handgun that was confirmed stolen out of Arkansas. The
gun and a badge had both been stolen out of a truck belonging to a Carroll County
deputy. Mahurin told the officer she was on parole and shouldn’t have crossed state
lines. She also said that she and the man inside her vehicle were “trading for dope.”
On the way to jail, she added that she had half an ounce of meth in her pants.
Mahurin is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, possession of controlled
dangerous substance without tax stamp affixed, possession of a firearm during the
commission of a felony, knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property and obstructing an officer. Her bond was set at $41,000, and she is scheduled to appear in
court on March 29, 2021.
