Joby Tucson Northington, age 34,
of Tahlequah, was charged in federal court in July for Possession of
Unregistered Firearm (Destructive
Device).
The Indictment alleges that on or
about April 12, 2014, Northington
did knowingly possess a destructive
device, which is a firearm, that was
not registered to him in the National
Firearms Registration and Transfer
Record.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Cherokee County
Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms
and Explosives. The charge is punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment and/or up to a $250,000 fine.

A Wagoner man with possible heartburn and a nasty case of congestion was
arrested on July 4 after he was caught shoplifting medicine from Walmart.
It may have been a day to celebrate freedom, but 49-year-old Billy Joe Harris lost his.
According to the affidavit, a Wagoner officer was dispatched to the 400
block of South Dewey in reference to a shoplifter that was being chased
through the parking lot by employees. En route, the officer was advised that
the suspect, Harris, was attempting to escape employees by running south on
U.S. Highway 69.
An officer spotted a man who matched the description of the suspect running east on S.W. Sixth
Street and Highway 69; he made contact with him and sure enough, it was Harris.
The officer detained Harris and transported him back to the store. Employees positively identified him as the shoplifter. An employee told the officer Harris had concealed a bottle of Zantac
before walking past the registers and out the door. The employee said he attempted to approach
Harris in the parking lot, but the man took off running.
If Harris didn’t have heartburn before, he probably does now!
An officer went to the area where police found Harris and located a bottle of Mucinex. Police
were unable to find the bottle of Zantac on Harris’s person.
Harris is being charged with larceny of merchandise from retailer. He is being held in lieu of a
$1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 13, 2014.

The Saline (KANSAS) County
Sheriff’s Office was inolved in a
bizarre, 43-minute chase Saturday
morning.
It began when a deputy clocked
a passing car on Interstate 70,
travelling at over 90 mph. The deputy
began pursuit of the driver as he
traveled west towards Salina. The car
was spraypainted with derogatory
statements about law enforcement.
The suspect was able to drive
around spikes that were set up at
the junction of I-70 and Highway 81.
Eventually, the suspect drove into a
soybean field.
Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says the suspect then drove the car in
circles for 40 minutes while law enforcement set up a perimeter
around the field, blocking off the man’s exits. at times, the suspect
threw blankets, CDs and other items out of the car. At one point,
the vehicle slowed down to around 5 miles per hour and the suspect
climbed out and “surfed” on the car’s roof.
The Sheriff says the man was yelling bible verses at officers, making
faces and even flashed peace signs. Deputies did pepper spray the
driver several times while he was inside the car.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Aaron S. Jansen of Dover,
New Hampshire, eventually surrendered to deputies. He’s being
held on charges of fleeing and eluding, obstruction, reckless driving
and speeding.
At the time of his arrest, Jansen was wearing a cowboy hat, boots
and a woman’s dress. He also has a warrant out of Dickinson County,
where he is accused of spray painting “Help me” on the tailgate
of a pickup and leaving behind his billfold, which included his
identification.

Sallisaw man Donald Teague, 40, was booked into the Sequoyah County
Jail July 1 after a state trooper found drugs and paraphernalia in his truck.
The trooper was traveling on Lancaster Road south of Sallisaw when he
noticed a truck approaching him; the driver wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, according to the affidavit. The trooper pulled the vehicle over and met with
Teague, the driver. Teague agreed that he hadn’t been wearing his seatbelt,
but he seemed to be in a hurry to exit his truck.
The trooper asked him to have a seat in his patrol car. Teague agreed and
shut his truck door quickly. The trooper asked Teague where he was going,
and Teague said he was going home. When the trooper asked him where he had been, Teague
vaguely replied, “around.”
The trooper then asked if Teague had anything illegal in his truck. He said no, and the trooper
asked if he could search it. Teague told him no, then asked, “You wanna search my truck?”
The trooper said yes.
Teague again asked, “You wanna search my truck?”
The trooper again said yes. Teague told him no.
The trooper contacted an officer with a K-9 and asked him to come to the location. The K-9
alerted to Teague’s vehicle. Inside the truck, police found a clear baggie containing a crystallized substance and a glass pipe with a burnt residue inside of it.
No wonder Teague didn’t want them to search his truck!
The trooper handcuffed Teague and transported him to jail.
Teague is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a$6,000 bond, and he is scheduled to
appear in court on August 20, 2014.

The Westville Police Department received a 9-1-1 call on July 7 at
approximately 7 a.m. reporting the death of a woman at the Savannah Park Apartments. There, police found 30-year-old April Meridith deceased inside her apartment.
Westville Police requested OSBI agents assist in the investigation. The medical examiner will determine her cause and manner
of death.
The OSBI investigative agent spent the day in Westville conducting interviews and gathering information. An OSBI crime scene
agent documented the scene and collected possible evidence.
Officials will investigate this death as a homicide until the medical
examiner can determine her cause of death -- standard procedure
for any suspicious death.
Approximately a week later, on July 13, the Adair County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI
investigative and crime scene assistance with a homicide investigation in Watts.
Just before noon that Sunday, a neighbor found Wayne Lee Wennerholm, 71, dead inside
his home at N. 4735 Road. Trauma to the body indicates Wennerholm is a victim of homicide.
OSBI agents gathered information to determine a timeline of events leading up to Wennerholm’s death.

Tulsa Police say serial rape suspect Desmond
Campbell is dead
Campbell had been in intensive care since being
badly hurt in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 44
early on the morning of Sunday, June 29, 2014.
The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office had
called a news conference about the case for 2 p.m.
July 8, but that was before news of Campbell’s death
broke.
Documents released detailed the evidence Tulsa
Police had against Campbell.
The documents also contained details of the attacks which the victims gave police.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Campbell wrecked a car just
before 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Troopers said he hit a large sign
post near Sheridan and listed the possible cause as sleepiness. The wreck
happened just minutes after the last sexual assault police have attributed to
Campbell.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District
of Oklahoma, announced on July 10 that Marcus Wayne Hall,
age 42, of Muskogee, was sentenced to 108 months imprisonment, followed by 5 years of supervised release for Possession of Certain Material Involving the Sexual Exploitation of
Minors. Hall was also ordered to pay $5,590 in restitution.
Charges arose from an investigation by the Colorado
Springs Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Hall was indicted in June 2013 and pled guilty in
February 2014.
The Indictment alleged that between in or about November
2011 and March 1, 2012, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma,
Hall did knowingly possess and attempt to possess matters
which contained visual depictions. The production of said visual depictions involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and said visual depictions were of such sexually explicit conduct, and
had been transported in interstate commerce by computer.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the
Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over the hearing. Hall will remain in
the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated
federal prison at which he will serve his non-parolable sentence.

A concerned citizen of Six Mile, South Carolina, contacted police after
spotting Tracy Nadine Ellenburg erratically drunk-riding a stolen stallion down the middle of Main Street (the citizen’s ability to distinguish
between drunken and sober horseback riding should have been immediately commended). Ellenburg had parked her horse before police
arrived, but the officer on scene was able to locate it anyway, because
it was the only horse tied to a bench outside a convenience store. The
officer confronted Ellenburg, who stank of alcohol, swayed and slurred
her defiant insistence that she was sober, which you may recognize as a
level of drunkenness so spectacular that people mimic it when they are
pretending to be drunk. Regardless, not only did Ellenburg deny any
wrongdoing, she actually blamed the horse, which, if you remember
from before, was stolen. She declared that the horse was drunk, not
her, and therefore the horse was at fault for the erratic riding. The police, not appreciating having witnessed one of the seven wonders of the
drunken excuse world, cited Ellenburg for disorderly conduct.
A woman in St. Paul, Minnesota, was tucking her children into bed
when she heard a noise somewhere in her house. Going downstairs to
investigate, she spotted a man and a woman running full-tilt out the
back door. The woman chased after the intruders and found them loading bags of her stuff onto their bicycles. They were thwarted hilariously
when a neighbor blocked them in with his car and called the police.
The thieves, Charles and Pernella Bull, had attempted to make off with
a laptop, a desktop computer, a toolbox, the woman’s purse and a few
other odds and ends. On their bicycles. We cannot stress this enough.
When questioned, Mrs. Bull said that a friend had told her that the address was listed as a “free house” on Craigslist, which meant that the
owners were moving out in a hurry, so anyone was free to just show
up and take whatever they wanted. Mrs. Bull said she had called out
to ask if anyone was there when she walked into the house (you know,
the house with all the lights on and a purse sitting on the counter), but
when no one answered, she figured it was vacant and starting loading
up the bicycles. The police weren’t able to find the alleged “free house”
listing on Craigslist, most likely because at no point in the course of human history had it ever existed, so the Bulls were arrested.
As Lee Solarski was tooling along one day, he crashed his car into
both a mailbox and a pickup truck, as one does. Being a responsible
citizen, he immediately drove away, not realizing that a witness had
written down his license plate number. When the police tracked him
down, Solarski explained that he’d crashed because his passenger had a
tarantula in the car with them. The tarantula had gotten loose and was
biting Solarski, causing him to lose control of the car during the attack.
To his credit, we admit a rampaging tarantula would be enough of a
reason to crash anything. The police searched the car but didn’t find
the offending spider, which we figure came as a relief to whichever officer drew search-the-car-for-a-secret-tarantula duty. After a similarly
thorough search of Solarski failed to produce any spider bites, he was
arrested.

The Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office has requested OSBI agents investigate an officer-involved shooting that
occurred just before 6 a.m. on July 3 at
a home in the area of N310 Road and
Smith Road near Morris.
A county deputy responded to a domestic disturbance call at the home. A
woman there had called 9-1-1 when
her son became enraged. She feared he
would become violent and did, in fact,
ram her vehicle with her inside during
the altercation.
When the deputy made contact with Teddy James Bearden, 26,
he refused to obey officer commands and struggled with the deputy
and two Creek Nation Lighthorse Police officers who had arrived as
backup. Bearden was able to get inside his vehicle and rammed one
of the officers’ vehicles. Bearden then turned his vehicle toward the
officers. The three peace officers fired their weapons at Bearden.
Bearden continued to drive north on N310 Road. Officers pursued
until the suspect crashed his vehicle approximately one half mile
from the scene. Bearden was flown to a Tulsa-area hospital with
multiple gunshot wounds. His condition is unknown at this time.
OSBI investigative agents and crime scene agents are on the scene
collecting evidence and information. The investigative case agent
will compile a report and deliver it to the district attorney. The D.A.
will determine if the shooting was justified.
Bearden has spent several years in prison for assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a controlled drug with
intent to distribute.
