Come down to the corner of Cherokee and Keetoowah in
Tahlequah for a Free Consultation.
The Bible does
not prohibit the
consumption of alcohol
but leaves that choice up
to the individual.
Opponents argue
against drinking by citing
the destructive effects
of alcohol addiction,
such as divorce, job
loss, traffic accidents,
breakup of families, and destruction of the addict’s health.
One of the most dangerous elements of drinking alcohol is setting
a bad example for other believers or leading them astray. The
Apostle Paul, especially, cautions Christians to act responsibly so as
not to be a bad influence on less mature believers:
Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be
blameless-not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to
drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. (Titus 1:7,
NIV)
As with other issues not specifically spelled out in Scripture, the
decision whether to drink alcohol is something each person must
wrestle with on their own, consulting the Bible and taking the
matter to God in prayer.
In 1 Corinithians 10:23-24, Paul sets down the principle we should
use in such cases:
“Everything is permissible”-but not everything is beneficial.
“Everything is permissible”-but not everything is constructive.
Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. (NIV).

Last of three Tahlequah residents
was sentenced Dec. 12 to 168 months
for manufacture of methamphetamine where children are present or
reside.
Brenda Vann, age 54, Andrew Braddock, age 20, and Lisa Creech, age 23,
all of Tahlequah, were convicted in
the case of a toddler who was burned
in a methamphetamine lab.
On October 8, 2013, Braddock was
sentenced to 120 months imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for Endangering Human Life While Illegally Manufacturing Methamphetamine.
On September 20, 2013, Vann was sentenced to a total of 235
months imprisonment, followed by 8 years of supervised release
for to Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Manufacture of Methamphetamine, and Manufacture of Methamphetamine on Premises Where Children are Present or Reside.
On December 12, 2013, Creech was sentenced to 168 months
imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release for
Manufacture of Methamphetamine on Premise Where Children
are Present or Reside.
The charges are a result from an investigation by the District
27 District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, the Cherokee Nation
Indian Child Welfare, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The defendants were indicted in March, 2013.
Braddock and Creech purchased pseudoephedrine which they
provided to Vann, Creech’s mother. Vann used the pseudoephedrine to manufacture methamphetamine in a home shared
by Creech and Creech’s child, who was at the time a toddler. The
toddler received burns from the chemicals used to manufacture
the methamphetamine. The child was treated at W.W. Hastings
Hospital, an Indian Health Services Facility, in Tahlequah. As
a result of the injuries to the child, each defendant received an
enhanced sentence.
Mark Green, United States Attorney noted, “Having a child
in a methamphetamine lab is reprehensible, those who harm a
child in those circumstances will be held accountable”.
The defendants will remain in the custody of the United States
Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated federal facility at which they will serve their nonparolable sentences.

Michael Wilson
The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole
Board rejected clemency on Dec. 16 for
death row inmate Michael Wilson, 38,
who is scheduled to be executed next
month for the beating death of a Tulsa
convenience store manager in 1995.
The board voted 4-1 against commuting
the death sentence of Michael Lee
Wilson.
Wilson was convicted of fi rst-degree
murder in the death of Richard Yost,
who was killed during a robbery at the
convenience store where he worked
as the night clerk on Feb. 26, 1995.
Prosecutors alleged that Wilson, who
also worked at the convenience store,
planned the robbery. He was among four
people convicted in the case.
Wilson’s execution is set for Jan. 9, 2014.
The board declined to reduce Wilson’s sentence to life in prison without
parole after Wilson apologized to members of the victim’s family and
acknowledged the harm he had caused them.

A Tahlequah man faces assault charges after he
shoved the middle school basketball coach during
a basketball game in November.
Billy Simpson, 52, is charged with misdemeanor
counts of assault and battery upon a school employee and assault upon an athletic official.
According to the police affidavit, Simpson, the
grandfather of one of the students, got upset and
came down out of the stands and onto the court
during a 5th and 6th grade basketball game on
Nov. 15. He began to yell at the coach and then
shoved him in the chest. He then told the coach he
would “whip his ass.”
The school’s superintendent then intervened and escorted Simpson out of
the gymnasium, still screaming at and threatening the coach.
A warrant was later issued for Simpson’s arrest and he was taken into
custody and booked. Bond was set at $4000 and he was ordered to return
to court Jan. 15, 2014.

Road trip:
interrupted
A road trip to Chicago was interrupted after police found drugs
aboard a traveling trio’s vehicle.
On Nov. 29, a Wagoner sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic
stop when he observed an SUV fail to use a turn signal when
turning, the affidavit states.
A male exited the suspect vehicle and started walking toward
the patrol car.
The deputy met the man and asked him for his license. The
man handed him his driver’s license and identified himself as
Tony James Hutson. The deputy asked the man to get in the patrol car. The 48-year-old Houston, Texas, man appeared to have
trouble answering simple questions and seemed very nervous.
The deputy checked the license and found that it was canceled.
He asked Hutson where he was going. Hutson said he was going
to Chicago to hangout with a girl for about a week.
The deputy spoke with the front passenger, Kyle Cox, 25, of
Bagtown, Tenn. Cox told the officer that he and his uncle were
going to Illinois. When the deputy asked what part, Cox hesitated and said Spring Valley. He said that they were going to be
there for two to three days.
The deputy then spoke with the back seat passenger, Jordan
Lee Roberts, 20, of Houston, Texas. She said that she was going
to Chicago with her boyfriend (Hutson) and they were going to
visit friends and family for a few days.
The deputy asked Hutson for permission to search the vehicle
and Huston said no.
The deputy conducted an open-air search with his K9 partner.
There was a positive alert on the vehicle and the deputy informed
Hutson that he was going to search the vehicle.
The deputy found a bottle of Xanax bars, vials of testosterone,
syringes and marijuana that had been hidden in the console.
All three individuals were transported to jail.
Roberts is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of a
controlled dangerous substance.
Hutson is being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, maintaining a vehicle for keeping/selling a controlled substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Cox is being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled
dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of
a controlled dangerous substance.
All three subjects were released on $6,000 bonds and are
scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 15, 2014.

AG Discussed Best Practices to
Reduce Violent Crime in Oklahoma
Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt on
Dec. 10 met with more than 40 law enforcement
officials from across the state to discuss new research and evidence-based policing programs
that have delivered lower crime rates in cities in
Oklahoma and nationwide.
The AG’s Best Practices in Public Safety seminar held at the State Capitol featured presentations by one of the nation’s leading crime science
researchers from the University of Cincinnati,
Robin Engel, as well as Oklahoma City Police
Chief Bill Citty and Norman Police Chief Keith
Humphrey.
“Resources matter. You’ve got to have resources to go out and make your community safe, but
what we learned today is strategy matters,” Pruitt said. “Our goal should be
about making people safe. I want you to know that we are here to be a partner
with you to achieve that. We’re here to serve you and to walk with you to ultimately see citizens served across the State of Oklahoma.”
The seminar is part of public safety training provided by the AG’s Safe Oklahoma Grant program, which is administered by the AG’s Office with targeted
appropriations from the state Legislature. Attorney General Pruitt awarded the
first grants in August to six law enforcement agencies. The second round of
grants will be awarded in the spring.
“The Safe Oklahoma Grant will help local law enforcement agencies combat
violent crime and create a safe environment for our families and children,”
Pruitt said. “Violent crime is at near record levels in some cities in Oklahoma,
and that is simply unacceptable. We must embrace an attitude of intolerance to
any violent crime in Oklahoma and an attitude that we are going to be the safest
state in America; to set that goal and pursue it.”
Among the issues discussed included results from multi-city research studies
on new targeted policing strategies that are reducing not only violent crime, but
all crime.
“Evidence based policing is the future of law enforcement,” Engel said. “We’re
moving toward targeting, testing and tracking. We’re getting there. If we focus
on strategies that are evidence-based and focus on transparency, legitimacy
and partnerships to produce a structure that works, you can have effectiveness
and equity in policing.”

A Sallisaw man was arrested after
his erratic driving revealed that he
had consumed one too many adult
beverages.
On Nov. 29, a Sallisaw police officer was on patrol when a vehicle in
front of him came to an almost complete stop, causing him to slam on
his breaks to avoid a collision.
According to the affidavit, the
driver pulled into a nearby housing complex and the officer turned
on his emergency lights and followed the vehicle. When he
turned in behind the vehicle, the driver nearly backed into
the police car. The driver of the suspect vehicle eventually
put the vehicle into park.
When the officer made contact with the driver, he could
smell a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming
from inside the cab of the vehicle. The officer asked the man
what had caused him to come to a complete stop in the middle of the road. The man said that he had run out of gas.
While the driver was speaking, the officer noticed that his
speech was slurred, and he could smell the odor of alcohol
on the man’s person and breath.
The officer asked the man for his license and insurance,
and as he looked for them, the officer asked him how much
he had had to drink. The man replied that he was just trying
to get home.
The man’s license identified him as Thomas Jones, Jr.,
53.
The officer asked Jones to step out of the vehicle. Jones
had trouble standing and the officer had to help him walk
to the patrol car.
The officer read Jones the implied consent test. Jones
asked what level aggravated DUI was. The officer told him
.16.
Jones told the officer that there was no reason for him to
take the test, because he was way past that level.
Jones is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while
under the influence of alcohol. He was released on a $3,000
bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18, 2013.

Can a phone dial 911?
A Muldrow man was taken to
jail after he was found to be in
possession of a stolen vehicle,
even though he appeared to believe that he was doing the right
thing.
On Nov. 25, a Sequoyah Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to
the District One County Barn in
Muldrow. According to the affidavit, he was advised that Muldrow police officers were with a
semi-truck that had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
An officer told the deputy that he had seen a man he recognized as Lewis Ray Love, 55, driving the stolen truck toward Roland.
The officer said he drove to Roland in an attempt to catch
the truck, but couldn’t find it. He had received a call that
the truck was on old Highway 64 between Muldrow and
Roland. He finally located the semi in front of the county
barn.
The deputy spoke to Love, who told him that he had
found the truck and thought he was doing the right thing
by taking it to the county barn. The deputy asked why he
didn’t call the sheriff’s office; Love said he didn’t have the
number. The deputy asked why he didn’t call 911. Love said
he didn’t know if his phone would dial 911. The deputy told
Love that the right thing to do was call the police.
The owner of the truck gave police permission to search
the stolen vehicle. Inside the truck, police found a light
bulb with a burnt residue and two straws sticking out of
the light bulb. The residue field-tested positive for meth.
At the sheriff’s office, Love agreed to speak to police. He
continued to insist that he had found the truck on the side
of the road and was taking it to the county barn. When an
investigator asked him how he knew that the truck didn’t
belong to a farmer, Love said he didn’t know if it did or not.
Love is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen
property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance
and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on an $11,000 bond and was scheduled to appear
in court on Dec. 18, 2013.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Hallmark Pleads Guilty
An Adair County man is possibly
facing a long prison sentence if a federal judge throws the book at him.
Willie Hallmark, 37, pleaded guilty
to two counts of Assault with Intent
to Commit Murder in Indian Country.
These charges arose from an investigation by the Cherokee Nation
Marshal Service and the FBI. Hallmark was indicted in June 2013.
The indictment alleged that on or
about June 6, 2013, Hallmark, an Indian, did knowingly and
intentionally assault two individuals causing injury by stabbing with a knife with the intent to commit a murder, while
on land held in Trust, for an individual member of the Cherokee Nation, by the United States of America.
“Violent crimes in Indian country continue to be a priority
to the Department of Justice and my office here in the Eastern District of Oklahoma and I commend the excellent work
of the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in this case”, commented United States
Attorney Mark Green.
District Judge Ronald A. White, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the
Hallmark’s guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Sentencing will be scheduled following its
completion. The defendant will remain in the custody of the
United States Marshal Service pending sentencing.
The statutory range of punishment is not more than 20
years imprisonment and/or up to $250,000 in fines on each
count.

Registered Sex Offenders In Adair County
Due to technical problems with the Adair County booking system, this
month’s Adair County arrests were not available at press time. We apologize for the inconvenience to our readers. OK Jailbirds will include January’s booking report for Adair County with its February issue.
We would like to thank the Adair County Sheriff’s Department for doing everything in their power to get the data to us, but their system just
wouldn’t allow it.
Thank you!
Make a resolution that will not only benefit you, but your family as well – resolve to support
your children in 2014! By paying your child support and being there for your children, you can
help ensure their future is bright.
Child Support Services (CSS) offers a variety of ways for noncustodial parents (NCP) to make
their court ordered child support payments. The most common method is through income withholding which is a wage deduction. Many employers comply with income withholding via web
payment or electronic funds transfer. NCPs have other methods available to make child support
payments directly including web payment, mailed payments, pay-by-phone, walk-in at any BancFirst location, MoneyGram, and US Payments kiosks.
All of these payment methods come at no cost to Oklahoma taxpayers.
“We’re very pleased to offer so many different ways for child support customers to make their
monthly payments. With so many different payment options, every noncustodial parent should
have the opportunity to support his or her children,” said Catina Drywater, a spokesperson for
the Claremore CSS office.
“It’s essential that we make paying child support as easy and convenient as possible for our
customers. We want to ensure that all Oklahoma children have the support of both parents.”
Each month, the Claremore CSS office collects about $870,000 in child support on behalf of
children and families.
To learn more about ways to make your child support payment, or for more information about
Child Support Services, call 1-800-522-2922, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or visit
www.okdhs.org and select “Child Support”.
Child Support Services is a program of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. To promote healthy families, CSS establishes, monitors and enforces reliable support while encouraging self-sufficiency and strengthening relationships. The program is responsible for more than
205,000 active child support cases, collecting more than $350 million in the last year on behalf
of children and families.

What you’re saying

DeVocha H: People are sick
Cheryl T: eww
Cheyenna H: Out on bond???????
Mary C: should have made his
bond higher
Eddie J: oh hell yea thats sexy
Bobby A: If they would just hang
one of these sick individuals that are
in to child porn, it might stop that
sh**t.
Aline L: Sick ass people wonder
how many camera’s they haven’t
found not much telling with a perv...
Annie B: Love he has federal
charges. The federal courts don’t
mess around and im sure in a federal
prison he will be passed around.
Bill F: I hope this guy rots in hell
if he is convicted. He can say good by
high paying federal job with excellent
benefits.
Todd M: Sounds like he needs to
be taken on a hunting trip!!
Shaina B: He also looks like he
could b one of those people that may
b hiding a dead body n his basement
JS! Lol creepy!!!
Mary C: Of all the things to spy on,
and he spies on that? Sounds like he
was targeting people to me.... Creepy
creepy stuff...
Carolyn H: Doesn’t deserve bond
Heather G: Letting people out on
bond is so scary and in this case disgusting. It’s basically letting him free
to hide and destroy as much evidence
as he can...
Mariette W: Yeah...there is an
idea...lets put a man that has pedophilia images on his computer and a
sick mind back in the public while he
waits for a prison sentence...just to
give him a chance to act on his feelings before it is too late. Making sense
to you? No, me neither
Jana S: He did this at the navy
base to my mom and great aunt who
work there so everyone who is saying
“my hero and that’s sexy” are sick.
He did this for months. How would
you like it if some perv was looking at
your mom or aunt?
Tuff H: They need to send him
down to boggy bottom.. Let us have
about 30 mins with him I can guarantee he won’t do it again
Mary S: Lovely..gets off on women using the restroom. Like we don’t
look for cameras these days!!! Jeez,
you can’t get away with that anymore
weirdo!
Belinda M: Considering this same
thing happened close to my home of
a store manager setting up a hidden
camara in the dollar general bathroom I am very skeptical to use public
restrooms !!! This jackass don’t need
to be out with society wow talk about
rewarding him for his behavior
Sherri C: Creeper. That is just
gross. Why would he get his jollies
watching people pee? Weirdo.
Aundria F: Sad on so many levels..it happened and will continue to
happen. So much for the law “protecting” us! By releasing him they have
put so many more in danger of being
violated. He is a sick sick man.
Brian M: Dude! I have walked into
the bathroom AFTER a woman has
used it, and based on that over stimulating sensory horror I would NOT
ever want to see the events leading up
to that.
HIDDEN CAMERAS IN WOMEN’S RESTROO M
A McAlester man was arrested and faces federal and state charges after investigators say he put a hidden camera inside the women’s restroom at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.
Kenneth Elkins, 55, was an employee at the plant.
Elkins is charged with three counts of federal video voyeurism,
two counts of recording/transmitting obscenity. The state is also
charging him with two counts of using electronic equipment in
clandestine manner.
Investigators say women were videotaped using the restroom at
the plant between July and August. They say Elkins captured very revealing pictures
of least three of the women.
When investigators searched Elkins home they found child pornography on his
computer and evidence he was recording inside a 16-year-old relative’s room.
Elkins is out on bond.

The signs are
all there
Two men were arrested after a failure
to stop at a stop sign revealed that they
were toting some illegal items in their
vehicle.
According to the affidavit, on Dec. 11,
a Muskogee police officer pulled the vehicle over after he saw the vehicle stop in
front of the stop sign instead of behind
it.
The officer made contact with the
driver, 30-year-old Michael Len Weiher,
and asked the Muskogee man for his
driver’s license. The officer also asked
both of the passengers for their IDs. The
back seat passenger was identified as
Robert Paul Landry, Jr., 36, of Warner.
All three occupants of the vehicle
seemed to be very nervous, and the officer noticed a wooden baseball bat next
to the driver’s seat.
The officer asked Weiher to step out of
the car, and he patted down the driver.
During the search, Landry opened his
door. Another officer that had arrived to
assist spoke to Landry and placed him
in handcuffs.
An officer walked his K9 around the
vehicle and said that there was a positive alert on the car.
Police searched the vehicle and found a set of digital scales and
a container that had three pills in it. Landry asserted that he had
a prescription for the pills.
The black scales tested positive for methamphetamine.
Both men were placed under arrest and were transported to
jail.
Landry is being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute. He is being held on a
$20,000 bond.
Weiher is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $10,000 bond. Both men are scheduled
to appear in court on Jan. 3, 2014.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Well, winter is here! With this
most recent ice and snow storm
that gripped Oklahoma, there obviously were some significant
obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed, that doesn’t really
get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is obstructed by iced over
windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to touch on some
of that, to try to raise some awareness about it, and give some tips
to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to go
out 10 minutes before you leave and simply start your car up, and
get the defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good
to go! Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical deicing sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out our
back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different, no one
wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they pull into
an intersection. After you finish with those side windows, go ahead
and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!

Suspect in assault found in OKC
A Nowata man faces several charges after he tried to
run over a woman with his car during a domestic dispute.
Jamie English, 31, was charged Dec. 12 with felony assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor domestic abuse/assault and battery, in Okmulgee County District Court.
According to reports, the Creek Nation Lighthorse Police and Okmulgee County deputies were called to the
14000 block of Eisenhower Road near Hectorville in
reference to a domestic dispute. A witness said a man
and woman were engaged in a physical altercation and
he tried to run over the woman.
English refused to come out of the house when police
arrived, so Okmulgee County deputies with the Special
Operation Team were called in an attempt to get English
out of the residence. After a brief standoff, the team entered the home, but English was gone.
English was located in a mental facility in Oklahoma City a few days later, according to reports.
Bond was set at $15,000.

Brian Hounslow, a 37-year-old Tulsa man, was jailed after he
was allegedly caught masturbating inside a women’s restroom.
According to police, a woman shopping at a Tulsa Walmart
was unpleasantly surprised when she walked into the women’s
restroom to find Hounslow masturbating in front of a mirror.
Investigators say Hounslow’s pants were down around his
ankles and he was masturbating his “fully exposed turgid
penis” when the woman walked in.
Hounslow reportedly got dressed and began walking toward
the store’s exit while the woman attempted to get help. When
the woman was unable to find someone who could address the
situation, she pulled out her cell phone and began recording
the man as he continued to walk toward the exit.
The video shows a man walking away from the woman as she proceeds to make
a public spectacle of him. At one point in the video, the man runs from the woman
when she begins shouting “stop that man, stop that man.”
Although the man succeeded in fleeing the scene, another shopper managed to get
Hounslow’s license plate number. He was arrested later the same day.
During a subsequent interview with police, Hounslow reportedly confessed to the
masturbation explaining that he thought that he was inside the men’s restroom.
Hounslow was booked into jail and charged with indecent exposure.
