An Elmore City man allegedly stole
his grandma’s vehicle while she was
sleeping on July 20.
Grandma wasn’t about to take that
crap -- she called the police and told
them to take him in!
According to the police report, a
Garvin County deputy was dispatched
to a residence on Highway 74 to investigate the stolen car shortly after 3 a.m.
The victim told the deputy that her grandson, 20-year-old Jordan
Jackson, had stolen her car.
She said Jackson had asked her several times the day before if he
could use her car to go see her girlfriend. She told him no.
The victim said she went to sleep around 11 a.m., and she woke up
at 2 a.m. to find her car gone. She believed Jackson sneaked into her
room and took her keys while she was sleeping.
The victim told the deputy her grandson’s girlfriend lived at some
apartments in Pauls Valley; she asked him to check the apartments
for her vehicle.
Granny was right -- the deputy found her vehicle parked in the
apartment complex. And guess who was sitting in the driver’s seat?
The deputy ordered Jackson out of the vehicle. The man immediately told the deputy that he had just spoken to his grandmother,
everything was fine, and there was no reason for the deputy to be
there. The deputy just needed to “get out of his way and let him be.”
The deputy spoke to the victim. She told him her grandson told
her he was in Elmore City and was going to bring her car back, but
he was nowhere near Elmore City. It was obvious Jackson had no
intention of taking the vehicle back to his grandma.
The deputy placed the man under arrest and took him to jail.
Jackson is being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. He
was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on August 28, 2015.

When a mugger tried to rob her friend, 92-year-old Eileen Mason just
had her mobility scooter – and her no-nonsense attitude.
Eileen and 75-year-old Margaret Seabrook, both from Swindon, Wiltshire, England, were returning home from a lunch club meeting when a
thief appeared from behind a fence and eyed up the contents of Margaret’s basket.
But the robber didn’t know who he was dealing with.
‘Oh no you don’t!’ was Eileen’s battle cry as she accelerated on her
scooter.
The would-be thief ‘went flying’, said Eileen, who has four children, 10
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
‘We went through the war and all the bombings. We won’t let a weasel
like that hold us back.’
Crocs plastic shoes left tread marks that helped link a 22-year-old
Fairbanks man to downtown burglaries, authorities said.
The owner of a building where some break-ins occurred provided surveillance footage to police, who posted it on the department’s Facebook
page. Roland Huntington Grace name was among several mentioned by
tipsters, according to authorities.
According to the court documents, Grace wore Crocs during a police
interview and the shoes matched the tread pattern found at the scene.
Grace faces charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the burglaries reported earlier this month, the Fairbanks Daily
News-Miner newspaper reported.
Online court records don’t have an attorney listed for him. Charging
documents say Grace admitted to the burglaries.
The owner of The Crepery reported on April 1 that someone stole about
$400 from a cash register after breaking into the restaurant. A minister
at the Church of Christ reported April 2 that someone stole about $30
after prying open several locked doors. Another burglary at The Crepery
was reported April 3, with $5 in change taken. A worker at the art gallery
across the hall told responding police that there was a burglary at that
shop as well, and that $1,000 of artists’ jewelry was taken.
According to authorities, two necklaces matching the description of
jewelry taken from the gallery were recovered from Grace.

Blanchard man David Shaun Caton, 37, was caught
creeping around a Newcastle business on July 10. The
man allegedly broke into a car dealership and took
some keys and a laptop.
According to the police report, a Newcastle officer was
on patrolling N. Meridian when he saw a truck parked
along the fence by the business shortly after 3 a.m. He
stopped to investigate and noticed that the passenger
front and back windows were rolled down a little bit.
The door was locked, but the officer saw a pistol lying
on the passenger side front seat. The keys were still in
the ignition.
None of the cars in the lot seemed to be damaged, but a link on a gate on the
property had been cut.
Officers approached the business and found that the sliding door was open.
They entered the building, but there was no one inside. They went back to the
parking lot. While they were talking, they saw a man walking toward N. Meridian
from NW 36 Street.
The man, later identified as Caton, was soaked and covered in grass and
scratches. He told the officers his name and birthdate, but police were unable to
locate any information about him.
An officer asked for the man’s date of birth again. After Caton gave it to him, the
officer asked, “That’s your birthday?” Caton said, “No, it’s my daughter’s.”
The officer asked if it was his daughter’s birthday. Caton then replied, “No, it’s
my friend’s.”
The officer placed the man in handcuffs and put him in the patrol car.
Officers walked back to the suspect’s truck, and they saw tracks in the grass.
They followed the tracks and found where Caton had been lying in some tall grass.
When the owner of the business arrived, he discovered that his laptop and
three sets of keys were missing from inside the building. Police found the laptop
in Caton’s vehicle.
While the door to the man’s vehicle was open, an officer spotted a second gun
in the driver’s side floorboard.
Caton is being charged with burglary in the second degree, obstructing officer,
identity theft, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of paraphernalia, three
counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance, possession of burglary
tools and knowingly concealing stolen property. His bond was set at $31,500, and
he is scheduled to appear in court on August 5, 2015.

Well, it took long enough, and
I’m not complaining about that,
but the heat has finally arrived!
Whether its at the lake, pool, or any of the numerous other
activities to be found throughout this great state, there are plenty of
ways to beat the heat! Since summertime travel is a big part of this
I thought I would touch on the way heat can affect your traveling
plans, and some tips to help you!
First, be prepared. Cars suffer in the heat just like we do. If
and when they break down, you’ll want to be ready. Be familiar
with your emergency equipment in your vehicle. This means learn
where your jack, spare tire, and tire tool are. Learn how to use
them. Figuring that out on the side of the road at 102 degrees is
no fun at all. The owner’s manual of your vehicle has a section
on roadside emergencies that can help you figure out where the
emergency equipment is stored, and tips on how to use it. Learn
the steps to change a flat! Although we will be happy to help you
if you are broken down, we aren’t always close, and may not be
able to get to you for a long period of time. If you know how to get
yourself out of a roadside emergency, that’s less time you’ll spend
in the heat.
Take lots of water with you if you are going on a trip, especially
if it’s a long one. Have a cell phone with you so you can call for
help if you need it. Be aware of your surroundings when driving,
so you can give the person you call for help an accurate location for
where you are. Also, if you can get your car to a place of shade, do
so. Temperatures can be up to 20 degrees cooler in a place of shade
such as an overpass or large trees.
Lastly, make sure your car is maintained properly. Ever notice
how many pieces of tires you see on the roadway during the
summer? The heat is hard on tires, so make sure they are properly
inflated and have good tread. If your tread is worn, get them
replaced! The pavement those tires are rolling on is even hotter
than the thermometer is showing! Visually check your belts, and
make sure all your fluids are filled up. That ounce of prevention
can keep you from being stuck on the side of the road in 100 plus
temperatures.
Preparing for roadside emergencies in the heat is just as important
as it is in the winter, but it seems like we just don’t prepare the
same for it. Just a few minutes of learning how to change a flat,
packing in a case of water, and being aware of your surroundings
can keep a bad day from being a whole lot worse!

someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
we hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. we feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

Mandy I: Ok first off as a citizen you have the right to refuse and officer to enter
your home until he provides the paper work staying he has that right! So she was not in the
wrong as she closed “HER” door! The officer also did not state what he was arresting her
for? Hmm some bs right there! It isn’t a right to arrest there has to be a reason stating while
in the process of cuffing someone! Talk about literally stepping on her rights just because
he has a badge!!
Jerry P: They can enter for probable cause, but this may not have been

Cassi G: I wasn’t naked but this reminds me of when I had my second child and an
officer came into my room 3 hours after I had a c-section, yelling at me, and telling me if
I wasn’t laying in a hospital bed, I would be arrested. He kept saying he had court papers
signed by a judge that my first child was to be with his father at that time, when those
papers were never signed. When I asked to see the signed papers, he told me they were evidence and I wasn’t allowed to see them. My heart was pounding on the monitor. The other
officer with him didn’t say anything during the incident, but confronted him when they left
the room. He checked the papers and saw they weren’t signed. Came back the next day to
apologize and told their boss about the incident. I filed a report but nothing ever happened
to the officer. That was a horrible situation! A moment that should have been filled with
joy, completely shattered by nonsense.
Lonny F: Charge him with felony trespass.....( Handcuff and restrained and with
a firearm) no different than someone else that entered and did the same thing....if its true
Bridgett S: I believe they were in the wrong for entering. However if cops show
up and enter my house while I am naked. I believe I would ask them to hold on until i get
clothes on, not, hey wait and let me grab my phone. I would also be nice about it. Lol

is consider B&E or forcible entry. Meaning that if you are in fear for your life you can shot

Marshall County, Alabama, Sheriff Scott Walls said a
burglary suspect got more than he bargained for when
he attempted to flee deputies across a field belonging to
a particularly ornery bull on July 8.
Walls said it started around 8 a.m. at a residence on
Baldwin Drive in Arab, Ala. The owner of a home on
that street came home and found a truck in his yard belonging to two people who were burglarizing his home.
The homeowner immediately called the Sheriff’s Office
and chased the suspects as they ran away.
A short time later, Sheriff Walls said deputies and
Arab Police located the suspect’s vehicle and pursued it
to the Union Grove area, where the truck crashed.
“The driver, Brad Lynn Hemby, 26, of Boaz, fled across a cow pasture and grabbed
the attention of a bull roaming the field. The bull also gave chase along with deputies,”
Walls said.
With more on his mind than jail at that moment, Hemby continued to run. Bad
turned to worse for him when he fell into a barbed wire fence. He immediately surrendered to deputies, Walls said.
The female passenger in Hemby’s truck ran into a wooded area not occupied by a
bull and has not been located at this time.
After the arrest, deputies recovered stolen property from Hemby’s truck, Walls
said. Hemby is charged with burglary, theft, and attempting to elude. Deputies continue to search for the passenger.

Madill woman Shanna Gail Rue, 44, was arrested June
28 for allegedly beating up her ex-girlfriend with a baseball bat.
According to the police report, the victim called police
shortly after midnight and said she had just been attacked by four people with a bat. Marshall County deputies went to the residence in the 18800 block of JH Nance
to speak to the victim.
The victim’s lip was “very swollen,” and she had a
bruise on her arm. She told police it felt like her jaw was
broken.
A deputy asked her what happened.
She said she picked up her ex-girlfriend, identified as Rue, and a man to go to
the casino. After the casino, Rue took the victim’s car to go get some food. After a
while, the victim called Rue and asked her where she was. Rue started cussing out
the victim, and when she returned to the house, she was irate. The victim said Rue
beat her car with a hammer and threw her food all over the vehicle.
Pretty soon, some more people showed up, and Rue’s daughter walked up to the
scene with a bat. Rue yelled at the victim, “You better run, bitch!”
The victim said she was unable to get away, and the people began to hit her with
the bat. She said she asked them, “Why are you doing this to me?”
Rue replied by kicking her in the mouth.
They eventually stopped beating her, but the victim said they “ransacked her
house,” stealing blankets and $45.
Rue was placed under arrest and taken to jail. The other suspects have not yet
been arrested.
Rue is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Her
bond was set at $40,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on July 30, 2015.

A Moore man and his juvenile accomplice
allegedly robbed a convenience store with a
gun on July 1.
Emilio Carlos Chavez, 18, and the juvenile,
took money, cigarettes and cigars from the
business. Chavez told an officer he robbed the
store because he needed money to pay bills.
He didn’t mention why they took the cigs.
According to the affidavit, Moore police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of NW
27th due to a robbery with a firearm. When they arrived, they were advised two suspects
walked into the store and approached the counter. Chavez was wearing a beanie and bandana over his face. The other suspect was wearing a ski mask.
The suspects pointed a gun at the clerk and threatened him with the firearm. He demanded
the clerk hand over money, cigarettes and cigars. After the suspects were given their loot,
they ran out of the store and left the area.
When police found Chavez, he admitted to the robbery. He said he and the juvenile went
into the store so they could rob it and get some money. Chavez said the other suspect was
the one who pointed a gun at the store clerk. He told the officer he committed the robbery
because he needed to get some money to pay his bills.
Chavez is being charged with robbery with a weapon in concert and together with a juvenile
male. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 28, 2015.
