catch me if you can! they did!
28-year-old Kendall Leigh Clanton is in
jail for allegedly leading police on a chase
through Lawton on November 21.
When officers caught up to her, they found
drugs in her possession.
Reports state a Lawton officer saw the
woman run a stop sign on 21st and Lee at
approximately 4 a.m. When they tried to stop
her, she wasn’t having it.
The officer turned on his lights and siren
in an attempt to pull her over, but Clanton
just kept on going. She kept on going, in
fact, through several Lawton neighborhoods,
reaching speeds in excess of 80 mph.
The chase eventually came to a stop when
Clanton hit the brakes on her vehicle and tried to take off running on foot. She
didn’t get far, however, before the officer caught up to her and placed her under arrest. The woman had some marijuana in her possession. She also had
a couple needles she told officers she used to shoot up meth.
According to reports, this wasn’t the first time Clanton had tried running
away from the law. She already had several warrants for her arrest in Comanche County at the time of the arrest.
Clanton is being charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police officer, attempted escape from felony arrest or detention,
resisting an officer, possession of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain insurance or security,
driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked and intersection violation.
Her bond was set at $100,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on
January 2, 2020.

Police are searching for a man who walked into a bank in Nebraska this week
and tried to open a checking account with a fake $1 million bill. Staff at the Pinnacle Bank branch in Lincoln reported the incident to police. The Lincoln Journal Star reports that bank employees say the man was adamant that the bill
was real despite tellers’ attempts to convince him otherwise. The man eventually left with the bill, but without a new account. Police are reviewing surveillance
video to try to identify the man. Police say they want to check on his welfare and
make sure he was not the victim of a crime. The largest denomination note ever
issued for public circulation was the $10,000 bill.
A Florida judge got to see more evidence than he expected when an accused
woman flashed her breasts in court. Susan Surrette, 54, was arrested for disorderly intoxication in Fort Lauderdale. She appeared in a Broward County bond
court via a video feed, NBC Miami reports. At one point during the hearing,
Judge John Hurley asked Surrette what she did for a living. She replied that she
worked as an escort and porn star under the name “Kayla Kupcakes.” During
the hearing, Surrette alleged she was the victim of police brutality and lifted up
her shirt to offer proof, according to WPTV. After her visual demonstration, Surrette told the judge she has a mental condition. Her attorney then told the
judge: “She’s somebody that needs help. She’s not going to get the help that
she needs at the jail,” according to WPLG. The judge ordered Surrette to pay
$100 bond and undergo a mental evaluation. Under the name Kayla Kupcakes,
Surrette has appeared in numerous adult films since 1998, including “Private
Stuffers 1,” “Sexcretaries” and “Mature Thunder Buns 1.”
When police in Largo, Florida, arrested Jeffrey Forrest Poole on charges of
violently resisting a police officer, the authorities made sure to list things like
his age, weight and address in his arrest report. Officers also included an alias
that Poole has allegedly used in the past ― and it’s pretty awesome, as well
as NSFW. Police were called to the 37-year-old suspect’s home on a reported domestic disturbance. When the officer arrived, according to the criminal
complaint, Poole exited his home and said, “I will beat every cop’s ass!” Then
Poole “raised his right fist and began to extend it towards my face in an attempt to strike me,” the arresting officer wrote, according to The Smoking Gun.
Since Poole was arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail, it is highly
unlikely he made good on his ass-kicking promise. Poole was charged with
assaulting a police officer and violently resisting a police officer. What makes
this case interesting beyond Pinellas County is one tiny detail: The criminal alias
Poole has previously used, one “Dickface Johnson.” That name showed up
because Poole was either asked if he had any alias or a record on file under that
name, according to brobible.com.
You know when you’re in an art gallery and you decide to steal one of the
paintings off the wall and then you can’t find a way to jam it into your sweatshirt because it’s a painting and large rectangular paintings don’t belong inside
sweatshirts? Hate it when that happens! Well, this art thief ran into a similar
problem. Luckily, the piece was recovered by gallery staff before the suspect
could escape with it. However, the would-be thief is still on the lam. Police in
the U.K. have released surveillance video in the hopes that viewers will be able
to help locate him. Probably won’t be difficult, given his general difficulty with
the concept of hiding.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty 11 | DECEMBER 2019 STEPHENS COUNTY
NOT IN THIS COUNTY
A 26-year-old Duncan man employed at the Grady
County Jail was arrested in Stephens County after he
allegedly impersonated a deputy while trying to get his
uncle’s property on November 1.
According to the affidavit, a Marlow officer was dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of E. Caddo at
approximately 12:22 p.m. A woman said a man came to
her door and identified himself as a deputy. The man told
her that a couple had left some of their belongings inside
the home and he needed to retrieve them.
The woman refused to let him inside.
She said the man showed a badge that was hooked on
his belt next to a gun. He showed her his driver’s license
and a weapons card. The man’s name was Kyle Lee Criss.
He left the residence in a black SUV that also appeared to have a passenger.
The woman explained she and her husband let a couple sublet a room in their
house. When they realized it wasn’t a good situation, they asked the couple to move
out. She said they left behind an outdoor grill and kid’s bike, which were both outside.
The officer spoke to the Stephen’s County Sheriff’s Department, who said they
didn’t have an employee by that name. He was also informed deputies don’t go to
homes to retrieve property without a court order.
Further investigation revealed Criss was a detention officer at the Grady County jail.
The officer spoke to Criss on November 3. He said he went to the residence in his
work uniform trying to help his uncle get back his property. He said he never identified
himself as a deputy or law enforcement officer. He did admit that he had his gun and
badge on him when he went to the door, and he showed the victim his driver’s license
and weapon card. Criss also said he never asked to go inside the residence to retrieve
his uncle’s property.
The man admitted that he understood how things looked since he was wearing his
work uniform, but he said he wasn’t trying to intimidate the woman.
While they were speaking, the victim came to the police station. She positively identified Criss as the man who came to her door.
Criss is being charged with impersonating police officer. His bond was set at $5,000,
and he is scheduled to appear in court on December 19, 2019.

RINGLING, Okla. — Special Ranger John Bradshaw of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) is seeking information on
78 yearling steers stolen from a ranch in Jefferson
County, Oklahoma. The cattle went missing between 5 p.m. Nov. 24 and 6:30 a.m. Nov. 25.
According to Bradshaw, the mixed-breed steers
weigh approximately 600 pounds and carry a 7
brand on the left hip. They were stolen from cattle
pens off FM 89, south of Ringling.
Operation Cow Thief, an anti-theft initiative led
by TSCRA, is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or persons responsible for the
crime.
Anyone with information that could help identify the perpetrator or perpetrators is asked to call TSCRA’s Operation Cow Thief hotline at (888)
830-2333, or Special John Bradshaw at (940) 389-6123.
All information is kept confidential, and tips may be provided anonymously.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

A New Jersey man pleaded guilty in
federal court to conspiring with others
to purchase, transport and sell more
than 1,000 box turtles that were unlawfully collected from the state of Oklahoma, announced U.S. Attorney Trent
Shores.
From May 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018,
William T. Gangemi, 26, of Freehold, New Jersey, knowingly facilitated the
purchase and transport of unlawfully collected three-toed and western (ornate) box turtles from Oklahoma to New Jersey in order to sell them for
profit. Gangemi was part of a syndicate of wildlife smugglers where protected turtles were exchanged back and forth between the United States
and China.
By smuggling the turtles, Gangemi violated the Lacey Act, a federal law
which makes it a felony to engage in the sale or purchase of protected
wildlife with a market value in excess of $350 knowing that the wildlife was
taken, possessed, transported or sold in violation of laws or regulations of
any state. In Oklahoma, the collection of both types of box turtles for commercial purposes is against the law. Box turtles reach sexual maturity at
approximately 10 years of age and have a high nest and juvenile mortality
rate. Due to these factors, the harvest of the turtles can have highly detrimental effects on populations.
“Oklahomans respect and value wildlife, and we don’t appreciate those
who would seek to exploit our vulnerable wildlife populations for their corrupt greed. Laws created by Congress to protect wildlife, like the box
turtle, will be enforced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Defendant Gangemi
flagrantly violated state and federal laws by illegally collecting and exporting box turtles to the black market,” said U.S. Attorney Trent Shores. “As a
result of the diligent investigative work undertaken by agents from the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service and Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, Mr. Gangemi must now face the consequences.”
“This case is an excellent example of how state and federal law enforcement agencies work together to combat the illegal wildlife trade,” said Phillip Land, a Special Agent in Charge for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
“We would like to thank the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and the U. S. Attorney’s Office for their assistance with this case. Together, we can hold traffickers accountable and protect imperiled species
for future generations.”
As part of his plea agreement, Gangemi agreed to pay $250,000 in
restitution to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and a
$100,000 fine to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for violation of the Lacey Act. The final restitution and fine amounts will be determined by the
Court at the time of sentencing, which is scheduled for Jan. 27, 2020.
Gangemi also pleaded guilty to additional federal charges for trafficking
wildlife in South Carolina and New Jersey.

Carnegie Man Charged with Premeditated
Murder in Indian Country
A federal grand jury has charged Isaiah
Whitefox Rebird, 34, of Carnegie, with premeditated murder and assault with the intent
to commit murder, announced U.S. Attorney
Timothy J. Downing.
According to an indictment returned by a
federal grand jury, Redbird deliberately killed
a person by striking him on the head with
a blunt force instrument on September 11,
2018, in Indian Country. He is charged in a
separate count with assaulting a person identified as K.R. on the same day with the intent
to commit murder.
An affidavit filed in federal court on November 28, 2018, alleges the Chief of the Carnegie Police Department discovered K.R. walking on a street in Carnegie on the morning of
September 12, 2018, with severe head injuries. K.R. could not remember
how she sustained her injuries. According to the affidavit, law enforcement
discovered the body of K.R.’s boyfriend, Byron Tongeamah Jr., also known as
“Subee,” later that morning in the carport of an abandoned residence in which
they had been sleeping. The abandoned residence is in Indian Country, and
Tongeamah and K.R. are both Indians.
Two witnesses reported they had seen Redbird near the abandoned residence on the night of September 11. Further investigation by the Bureau of
Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led to a residence at
which Redbird allegedly attempted to burn and then buried his clothing soon
after Tongeamah’s death.
Redbird was arrested in Arizona on September 26, 2018, for an unrelated
probation violation. He has been in federal custody since that time.
If found guilty of premeditated murder, Redbird faces a mandatory punishment of life in prison. If convicted of assault with intent to commit murder,
he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and up to five years of
supervised release. He could also be fined up to $250,000 on each count.

SHOOTING SUSPECT IDENTIFIED
A suspect has been identified and police
are searching for a man in connection to at
least one of the recent shooting investigations being conducted by Altus Police.
Investigators have obtained a felony arrest
warrant through the Jackson County District
Court in the amount of $250,000 for 26-yearold Manuel Kevin Dutra on a charge of Discharging a Firearm Into an Occupied Dwelling.
Dutra was identified as the person responsible for shooting into a home in the 700 block
of North Willard on November 3rd and originally went unreported by the homeowner.
Dutra is described a Hispanic male, 6ft tall,
weighing approx. 170 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. Dutra has a tattoo
under his right eye which says “LIL ENE”, a tattoo above his left eye of the
roman numeral “XIV” (#14), tattoos of four small dots under his left eye, along
with numerous tattoos on both arms. Dutra should be considered armed and
dangerous.
Police are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Manuel
Kevin Dutra to contact your local law enforcement, the Altus Police Department at (580) 482-4121 or the Altus / Jackson County Crime Stoppers at
(580) 482-8477. You can remain anonymous and you could be eligible for a
cash reward.

DECEMBER IS NATIONAL DRUNK AND
DRUGGED DRIVING PREVENTION MONTH
Deaths in crashes involving
drunk drivers with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08+
dropped in 2010, but despite this
decrease, there were still 10,228
lives lost – that’s one person every
51 minutes. That makes it everyone’s problem.
It seems that many people were
doing their part to put a stop to
this completely preventable epidemic. Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low point in the late 1990s.
Research also indicates that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk campaign have personally intervened
to stop someone from driving drunk, no doubt saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90’s, alcohol-related driving deaths have been
steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was very successful, it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many
thought the messages to be targeted at overtly drunk drivers, and not them.
When decision time came, they would consider themselves merely “buzzed”
and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December
2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition of the dangers of
“buzzed” driving and subsequently, to motivate people to stop driving buzzed.
The next installment expands on this message, equating buzzed driving and
drunk driving and demonstrating the devastating consequences that can occur as a result of buzzed driving. The overall campaign hopes to educate
people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that Buzzed
Driving is Drunk Driving.
