We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

hidden in plain sight
A 22-year-old Marlow woman was taken to
jail after officers found her driving a stolen SUV
on May 3.
The police report states that a Duncan officer was driving in the 1300 block of West
Cypress Avenue when he saw a black Chevy
Tahoe traveling along with him. Aware that
the same vehicle had been reported stolen,
the officer asked dispatch to check the tags.
When he was informed that the SUV was indeed the one that had been reported stolen,
he stopped the vehicle.
The officer approached the SUV, but he
couldn’t see inside because the tint was so
dark. He knocked on the window and told the
driver to roll down the window, but nothing
happened. The officer then tried to open up some of the doors, but they were
locked.
Another officer arrived on scene to assist, and he noticed that someone
was crouched down in front of the driver’s seat.
After again asking the suspect to exit the vehicle, the driver rolled down the
window and said she would get out if the officers holstered their weapons.
The driver still didn’t open the door until an officer hit the window with his baton. She held tightly to the steering wheel, however, and she refused to let go.
An officer grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the SUV before placing her
in handcuffs. After she was detained, the woman identified herself as Haley
Hensley.
While checking the woman’s information, the officer was advised that Hensley had warrants for her arrest out of Stephens County and Marlow. She told
the officer that she didn’t know the vehicle was stolen and had just borrowed
it from a friend.
Hensley is being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. Her bond was
set at $15,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on June 19, 2019.

54-year-old Gary Lee Branson was put behind bars and his whiskey-making business
was shutdown after officers found an illegal
distillery at his Eagletown home in January
2019.
He was arrested in April for the crime.
According to the affidavit, ABLE officers
were advised by a McCurtain County deputy in early January that there was an illegal
moonshine operation going on somewhere in
Eagletown.
The deputy said they learned during an investigation that Branson was allegedly making the booze at his home in the 3300 block
of Union Valley. The man was then taking the
moonshine to a nearby convenience store,
Short’s Beer To Go, who would sell it to customers.
Undercover officers bought some moonshine from the business on two
separate occasions.
In late January, officers went to Branson’s home.
As officers approached his property, they smelled an odor associated with
the manufacture of illegal moonshine.
They obtained a search warrant and returned to the man’s residence a
short time later.
During the search, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies seized a
variety of items, including collection pots, cookers, burners, thumpers, glass
containers (some were filled with liquid), bags of sugar, containers of yeast,
mash barrels and other items that were marked with Branson’s name.
The suspect was not home at the time of the search.
Branson is being charged with operation of whiskey still or distillery without
distiller’s license. His bond was set at $2,500, and he is scheduled to appear
in court on August 2, 2019.

Casino Employee Sentenced to 10 Yrs in Federal
Prison for Distributing Child Pornography
Brandon Lee Pruitt, 27, of Anadarko, has
been sentenced to ten years in federal prison
for distributing child pornography, announced
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
A federal grand jury indicted Pruitt on July
17, 2018, on one count of distributing and
one count of accessing child pornography. According to Count 2, he used a cell
phone to access child pornography stored
on an Internet-based cloud storage service
between August 20, 2015, and March 13,
2018. Count 1 alleged he distributed child
pornography through the Internet between
those same dates.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated
the case because Pruitt worked at the Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, on land
held in trust for the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, and committed the offense
in Indian Country.
Pruitt pleaded guilty to Count 1—the distribution count—on October 2,
2018. Pursuant to a plea agreement, the government has dismissed Count
2.
On May 21, U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti sentenced Pruitt to
120 months, or ten years, in prison. After release from prison, he will serve
eight years on supervised release.
Pruitt has been in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service since September 4, 2018, when he was removed from a halfway house program that the
court had imposed as a condition of pre-trial release.
This case is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Indian Affairs,
with the assistance of the City of Anadarko Police Department and the U.S.
Secret Service’s Oklahoma Financial and Electronic Crimes Task Force.

20 | JUNE 2019 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty JACKSON COUNTY
June is Internet Safety Month
Computer interconnectivity has produced
enormous benefits, but has also enabled
criminal activity that exploits this interconnectivity for financial gain and other malicious purposes, such as internet fraud, child
exploitation, identity theft, and terrorism. The
Internet can give identity thieves, hackers,
and scammers online access to your computer, financial and personal information and
more. Additionally, today’s mobile devices are well integrated with the internet
and have far more functionality than mobile phones of the past. They are
increasingly used in the same way as personal computers, potentially making them susceptible to similar threats affecting computers connected to the
Internet.
For youths, the internet often serves as a positive and powerful arena for
socializing and learning. However, the use of the internet also brings about
risks to their safety, including the dangers of sexual solicitation, online harassment and bullying, and exposure to illegal content. By discussing responsible socializing and communicating, parents -- regardless of whether they
are technologically savvy -- can help their kids make better decisions about
online behavior.
Efforts to address cybercrime include activities associated with protecting
networks and information, detecting criminal activity, investigating crime, and
prosecuting criminals, . The Administration has taken significant steps to better protect America against cyber threats and has developed a pragmatic
and focused cyber-security legislative proposal for Congress to consider. The
proposed legislation is focused on improving cyber-security for the American
people, our Nation’s critical infrastructure, and the Federal Government’s own
networks and computers.

Alfredo Roblez, 42, was charged May 29 with
sexual battery, in Jackson County District Court.
The Altus Police Department stated that on
May 17, Roblez allegedly groped a 19-year-old
female while the two were in a local restaurant.
Another female at the scene told investigators she
witnessed the suspect place the victim in a “bear
hug” along with touching the victim in an inappropriate manner.
Roblez was interviewed and later transported to
the Jackson County Jail.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty GRADY COUNTY 25 | JUNE 2019
Chickasha Bank Robber Arr ested
Dwayne Edward Rasmussen, 65, has been
charged with robbing the Community Bank of
Oklahoma in Chickasha, announced First Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
According to an affidavit in support of a
criminal complaint, a man entered the Chickasha branch of Community Bank of Oklahoma at approximately 9:15 a.m. on April 30,
2019, and told a bank employee, “Give me all
your 50’s and 100’s.”
After the employee complied, he allegedly
said, “That’s not enough. Give me all your
money.” He is alleged to have taken virtually
all the money from the three tellers’ drawers,
for a total reported loss of $10,474. The affidavit states that while he did this, he brandished what appeared to be a pistol with a
green grip. When he entered the bank, the affidavit explains, he placed a
large sponge at the base of the inside door of the “mantrap” at the bank’s
entrance so the door would not close.
Based on video surveillance from the bank and a church across the street,
eyewitness accounts, and interviews of his acquaintances, FBI agents determined Rasmussen was the primary suspect. He was arrested on May 6 in
downtown Oklahoma City.
Rasmussen made his initial appearance during the afternoon of May 6 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Gary M. Purcell. A preliminary and detention hearing took place before Judge Purcell on May 9.
If found guilty of bank robbery, Rasmussen faces a maximum potential penalty of twenty years in prison, three years of supervised release, a fine of
$250,000, and mandatory restitution.
This case is a result of an investigation by the FBI Oklahoma City Division
and the Chickasha Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Wilson McGarry and Mary E. Walters are prosecuting the case.
