trio arrested in home invasion
Three Enid residents were put behind bars after police say they broke into a home and held a
woman and her infant son hostage on November
6.
According to reports, 38-year-old Darnell Kelly,
32-year-old James Saunders, and Tamara Reed,
25, went to the residence to get back some stolen
marijuana. They found a woman and her 1-dayold baby at the apartment in the 800 block of E.
Oklahoma. They questioned her about her husband until her husband, a 3-year-old, and two
other men came to the residence.
The suspects allegedly beat the husband. The
victims were eventually able to get out of the
apartment.
As they were running away, one of the suspects
fired multiple shots at the husband. Fortunately,
the person missed.
Officers were informed of the incident when a
caller reported hearing gunshots, then seeing a
man with a bloody face. Police found the man at a
gas station near 10th and Owen K. Garriott Road.
Saunders and Reed were arrested several hours
later at approximately 2 a.m. during a traffic stop.
Kelly was arrested on November 8 while he was
working at a local restaurant. Police searched the
man’s car and found a large amount of cocaine
and marijuana. They also found some weapons
and clothing they believed were involved in the
home invasion, as well as more cocaine, marijuana and some cash.
Saunders is being charged with shooting with
intent to kill, assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon, burglary in the first degree, possession
of firearm after former felony conviction and five
counts of kidnapping.
Kelly is being charged with shooting with intent to kill, burglary in the first
degree and five counts of kidnapping.
Reed is being charged with burglary in the first degree and five counts
of kidnapping.
All bonds were $500,000, and they are all scheduled to appear in court
on December 17, 2018.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Police out helping keep the streets clean arrested a man suspected of
stealing a street sweeper.
According to Sacramento Police, officers out on patrol near Truxel
Road and Brewerton Drive saw a street sweeper truck peel out of a
parking lot and onto the street.
The truck promptly ran a red light – and didn’t have its headlights on –
prompting the officers to try and pull the street sweeper over. However,
police note, the driver pushed on and didn’t stop until he had hit three
parked cars. The driver then bolted from the truck.
A police perimeter was set up in the area, but the suspected driver –
18-year-old Lavonn Dill – eventually surrendered himself to a K-9 officer.
Dill now faces charges of fleeing, possession of a stolen vehicle and
hit-and-run charges.
A Florida man who was doing a mean-spirited Santa Claus impression
might be spending Christmas behind bars after getting caught in the
chimney of a Naples, Fla., home during an attempted burglary.
Richard Tyler Brandon, 25, got trapped in a chimney after running out
of cash during a night out. His friend, Derek Grenfell, alerted two Naples
police officers about the situation after it became apparent Brandon was
stuck.
A team of police officers and local fire department officials broke into
the home and saw Brandon’s foot hanging in the fireplace.
“I said, ‘Dude, you’re not Santa Claus, what are you doing?’” Grenfell
reportedly said to the police.
It took two hours, but Brandon was freed from the chimney and taken to the hospital for treatment of issues including leg pain and trouble
breathing. It could have been worse.
“There is a chance he could have died,” said Naples Detective Robert
Young. “That space he was jammed into was really tight. He couldn’t
move.”
Brandon was hit with two burglary charges and Grenfell was charged
as an accessory to the crime after the fact.
A Vero Beach, Fla., man who was angry with his wife left a phony bomb
on a kitchen counter, an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Randolph Smith, 51, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault
with a deadly weapon, planting a hoax bomb and resisting arrest without
violence.
Deputies received a call from a woman who said her husband left a
gray pipe with a wire protruding from one end on the kitchen counter.
There were several hand-written notes on the counter, including one that
read, “This is (an) explosive. (It’s) a bomb.”
Smith’s wife told deputies she is in the process of getting a divorce.
The bomb squad was called and determined that the device didn’t
contain any explosives.
Deputies tracked Smith down at a Burger King and arrested him.
During questioning, Smith tried to leave the interview room and had to
be handcuffed, according to the arrest report.
Smith told detectives that he left the hoax bomb on the counter because his wife “pissed him off.”

three of a kind
A three people were arrested at an Alva motel after officers found drugs, paraphernalia and
stolen items in a room on November 8.
According to reports, a Woods County deputy was advised that Alva man Taylor Cole Cunningham, 22, had a Beretta 9mm gun that had
been stolen from an Alva residence. The deputy
spoke with the man’s probation and parole officer the next day, who said that Cunningham
had tested positive for meth in a drug analysis.
The man had also admitted to using the drug.
Around 12:15 p.m., officers went to Cunningham’s residence at a local motel. When they
walked into the man’s room, they saw him loading a pistol with ammunition.
Waynoka man Dillon Von Nethercutt, 27, and
22-year-old Brittany Ann Womack, of Alva, were
also in Cunningham’s room.
While in the room, officers saw a line of a white
substance, that was later identified as meth, on
a mirror that was on the desk. Nethercutt had a
baggy containing marijuana on his person. Cunningham had some meth in the pocket of his
jeans.
While searching the room, police found some
stuff that matched items that had previously
been reported stolen.
A search warrant was executed for the room.
During the search, officers seized money, marijuana, meth, some pills, cellphones, drug paraphernalia and some ammunition.
Cunningham is being charged with distribution of controlled dangerous substance (meth),
possession of a firearm during the commission
of a felony, knowingly concealing stolen property
and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $77,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on December 11, 2018.
Nethercutt is being charged with unlawful
possession of controlled dangerous substance
(marijuana) with intent to distribute. His bond
was set at $10,000.
Womack is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at
$2,000.
They are all scheduled to appear in court on December 11, 2018.

Driver of SUV with 11 Illegal Immigrants Pleads
Guilty to Federal Charge
A Mexican citizen pleaded guilty November 6
to unlawfully driving himself and 10 other illegal
aliens from Arizona to Kansas, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said.
Alex They Maya-Dimas, 37, a citizen of Mexico,
pleaded guilty to one count of transporting illegal aliens. In his plea, he admitted he was driving
a 2002 GMC Yukon when a Ford County deputy
stopped him. Maya-Dimas and 10 other occupants of the vehicle were Mexican citizens who
were in the United States illegally. The passengers
told investigators Maya-Dimas drove them from Arizona to Kansas City
through Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 24. He faces up to five years in federal prison
and a fine up to $250,000. McAllister commended the Ford County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations and Assistant U.S. Attorney
David Lind for their work on the case.

cash cow
An Edmond man was taken into custody after he allegedly wrote a bogus check for cattle
at the Noble County Livestock Market.
According to a Texas and Southwestern
Cattle Raisers Association press release, Jason Andrew Daniels, 39, was arrested Nov. 29,
on an outstanding warrant from Noble County.
The warrant stems from a 2016 incident in
which Daniels purchased cattle from the Noble County Livestock Market using a bogus
check. The arrest is the result of an investigation led by Texas and Southwestern Cattle
Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Ranger
Brett Wellden.
In October 2016, Daniels purchased 16
head of cattle at the Noble County Livestock
Market. He paid with a check for more than $12,000 that was later returned
for insufficient funds. According to his statement, the owner of the livestock
market contacted Daniels repeatedly over the next three months to try to arrange for payment. Daniels allegedly strung along the livestock market until
early 2017 when he stopped responding altogether.
At that time, the owner contacted Wellden who initiated an investigation.
Wellden provided another opportunity for Daniels to make payment, but he
failed to do so. The case was then presented to the Noble County District Attorney, who issued the arrest warrant.
Daniels was arrested and booked into the Noble County Jail and held in lieu
of bond. He is charged with one felony count of obtaining property by bogus
check. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
“Far too often we run across cases where individuals write a bogus check
to buy cattle,” said Wellden. “Most sellers are not set up to finance loans so it
can be a big financial hit.”
Wellden noted that the Daniels case is an especially poignant example. The
Noble County Livestock Market burned down earlier in the year, putting the
owner in the tough position of trying to rebuild despite the outstanding debt.

DECEMBER IS NATIONAL DRUNK AND
DRUGGED DRIVING PREVENTION MONTH
Deaths in crashes involving
drunk drivers with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08+
dropped in 2010, but despite
this decrease, there were still
10,228 lives lost – that’s one
person every 51 minutes. That
makes it everyone’s problem.
It seems that many people
were doing their part to put a stop to this completely preventable epidemic.
Alcohol-related traffic fatalities reached a low point in the late 1990s. Research
also indicates that 62% of Americans exposed to the now-iconic Friends
Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk campaign have personally intervened to stop
someone from driving drunk, no doubt saving countless lives.
However, since the late 90’s, alcohol-related driving deaths have been
steadily increasing. It seems that though the campaign was very successful, it did not change the behavior of many potential impaired drivers. Many
thought the messages to be targeted at overtly drunk drivers, and not them.
When decision time came, they would consider themselves merely “buzzed”
and get behind the wheel.
The new PSAs created to address this gap were released in December
2005 with the objective to inspire dialogue and recognition of the dangers of
“buzzed” driving and subsequently, to motivate people to stop driving buzzed.
The next installment expands on this message, equating buzzed driving and
drunk driving and demonstrating the devastating consequences that can occur as a result of buzzed driving. The overall campaign hopes to educate
people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that Buzzed
Driving is Drunk Driving.
