An Enid man faces felony charges after police busted his pipe-making business May 25.
Around 10 p.m. that day, officer Sean
Dyer was on patrol near North 16th
Street when he saw a maroon GMC Sierra with its high beams on. Dyer initiated a traffic stop and confronted Ronney Yoder, 52, to learn more about the
situation.
Yoder said he was having issues with
his lights since his low beams aren’t
bright enough, adding that he was just
leaving the Pressure Cooker bar. After
checking Yoder and his passenger’s licenses for warrants and finding none, another officer with a K-9 dog
arrived for backup.
Yoder and his passenger got out of the car so the dog could sniff
around, and sure enough, the dog alerted the officers to drugs inside.
Both men said there was nothing illegal, but police decided to search
it due to the K9 alert.
Inside the SUV, officers found a clear glass pipe with methamphetamine inside, a tube in an ashtray and two long swords.
Yoder initially denied ownership of the pipe, saying “I don’t know
what you’re talking about.” His passenger, who was not arrested,
also said the pipe didn’t belong to him, adding he had just gotten
into the SUV a few minutes before the stop.
When asked about the tube, Yoder said he makes dope pipes out
of tubes to sell for around $15 each. He also admitted the swords belonged to him. Despite this, Yoder insisted the pipe wasn’t his.
Eventually, after repeated questioning from Dyer, Yoder said, “I
guess it’s mine,” which landed him a seat in the back of Dyer’s patrol
car.
Yoder has court set for 9 a.m. June 19. He remains in custody on a
$15,000 bond.
In business no more

A welfare check resulted in eight criminal charges for a Hennessey man May 15 after he crashed into electrical equipment
earlier in the week.
Around 4:30 p.m. May 11, Enid police officer Anthony Aebi
received a call about a man lying near a drainage ditch west
of a home on the 4200 block of Pin Oak. Aebi arrived to see a
woman and her husband, who said they heard banging coming from the area of the ditch. While they were on their way
to Lowe’s they saw Joseph Stribel, 47, in a nearby yard on his
hands and knees.
When they got back from Lowe’s, they saw Stribel lying face
down in the yard, so they went to check on him. He said he
didn’t know where he was, told them “good night” and passed
out, so they called 911, they said.
Aebi walked around the house and found Stribel lying on the ground. A check of the scene
revealed the electrical meter on the side of the house was broken, with pieces of the meter on
the ground. The phone box was also knocked off the side of the house and lying near a green
T-post driver, Aebi said.
Realizing Stribel smelled like alcohol, Aebi took a look around the scene, where he saw
blood on a curtain in the house. Stribel was bleeding from a cut on his hand, Aebi said.
A little later, a woman pulled into the driveway to get in the house. She told officers she
lived there, but he lived with his parents in Hennessey, saying he wasn’t supposed to be in the
house when she wasn’t there.
Once Aebi started talking to the woman, Stribel came to his senses. The officer tried to arrest him for the damages and public intoxication, but he said, “No” loudly, jerking his arm
away repeatedly. Stribel was then taken to the emergency room, where he tried to kick multiple nurses and officers on the scene.
When Stribel was medically cleared, the officers took him to the county jail, where he
threatened them during booking. He said, “You better tell your loved ones goodbye” and “I’m
going to make your daughter s--- your d---” to the officers, adding he would kill one of them
when he got out of jail.
Stribel posted a $15,000 bond May 29. He has court set for 1:15 p.m. June 24.
An electrifying situation

Remember catching
fireflies in jars? Taking a
nature walk? Watching a
huge thunderstorm roll in?
Hearing the bubbling of a
stream you could not see?
God’s creation speaks of His
majesty and our hearts learn
to sing of His praise.
In an age when a click of a
finger can open up hours of
media entertainment for our children, it can be tempting to tune
out. Pulling away from the television and taking your children
on a walk may put you behind on housework, but it can prepare
them to praise the Most High!
Take the time to share the joy of nature with your children, and
tell them of His wonders.
Psalm 9:1, 2 NLT
“I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the
marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because
of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.”

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Oklahoma has a lot of rural
areas, and is crisscrossed with
county roads. In those rural areas,
these county roads are traveled extensively, and as a result, around
50% of all accidents occur on them. The majority of those are due to
unsafe speeds. Most of these roads don’t have a posted speed limit,
so how is a driver to even know what the legal speed is? I’m going
to try and give some insight into that.
First, by state law, the speed limit on all county roads in the
state that aren’t otherwise posted is 55 miles per hour. Wait, you
might say...I heard the speed limit in my county on county roads
is 35, or 45. You are probably correct. The reason some counties
have a speed limit that is different on their county roads is because
the Board of County Commissioners for that county can set by
resolution a maximum speed limit for their roads. So how do you
know what the speed limit is for each county?
Posted on the county line marker, wherever a state highway
enters a county, and at all off-ramps where Interstates or Turnpikes
enter a county, there is a sign advising the driver of the speed limit
for non-posted county roads which will read as follows: ENTERING
________ COUNTY, COUNTY ROAD SPEED LIMIT _____MPH
UNLESS POSTED OTHERWISE.
Keep your eyes out next time you cross a county line, and see if
you see a sign like this, because they are out there. Now, if you don’t
see the signs, that means that in that particular county, the County
Commissioners did not change the speed limit on those county
roads, and the speed limit is 55 MPH as set by state law. For those
of you that would like to see this information, you can find it in the
Oklahoma State Statutes, Title 47-11-801F.
Now that we know the speed limit on these roads, lets talk about
the unsafe speeds that usually result in accidents. Most are due to
driving too fast on the type or roadway, specifically gravel, or on a
curve or turn. Just because the speed limit is 55, doesn’t mean that
you have to go that fast, and you should adjust your speed to the
conditions...if its gravel, and you are sliding around, you are going
too fast. Gravel is tricky, it doesn’t have the same grip as pavement,
and the depth and type of gravel all play a role in the traction you
have, which affects your stopping ability. If you are unfamiliar with
the road, be aware that it could be a T intersection, or a 90 degree
turn on the back side of a hill... adjust your speed to your abilities,
the conditions present, and potential conditions you may not know
about!
I hope this clears some things up on those county roads! Thanks
for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children

Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Davis & DeRosa Execution Dates Set
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals set June
18 as the execution date for LeFlore County death row
inmate James Lewis DeRosa, 36, and June 25 as the
execution date for Kay County death row inmate Brian
Darrell Davis, 38.
In October 2001, DeRosa was found guilty and
sentenced to death for the fi rst-degree murders of
Curtis Plummer, 73, and Gloria Plummer, 70, both of
Poteau.
DeRosa was briefl y employed by the Plummers and
told several friends on multiple occasions he thought
the elderly couple would be an easy target to rob.
DeRosa’s friend Eric Castleberry, 21, agreed to help
with the robbery and Castleberry’s friend, Scotty White,
18, agreed to drive.
After being welcomed into the Plummers’ home,
DeRosa and Castleberry brandished knives. While the
couple begged and struggled for their lives, DeRosa
proceeded to stab the Plummers multiple times and
slit their throats. DeRosa and Castleberry left the scene
with $73 and the couple’s pickup truck. The truck was
ditched in a nearby lake.
Castleberry testifi ed at DeRosa’s trial in exchange for a
sentence of life without the possibility of parole. White
was charged with accessory after the fact to murder and
received two 25-year sentences with the last seven years on probation.
Davis was found guilty by a jury in January 2003 for the November 2001 fi rstdegree murder and rape of his girlfriend’s mother, Jody Sanford, 52, of Ponca
City. He was sentenced to death for the murder and 100 years for rape.
In November 2001, Davis was living with his girlfriend, Stacey Sanford. They
had ended the relationship, but he refused to move out.
The night of the murder, Stacey stayed at a hotel after Davis had been
drinking. Davis called Stacey’s parents looking for her and Jody Sanford
became concerned. Unable to locate her daughter, Jody Sanford went to
Stacey’s apartment.
While at the apartment, there was an altercation between Davis and Jody
Sanford. The next morning, Stacey found her mother’s body. She had been
beaten and stabbed six times. DNA evidence also showed Jody Sanford had
been raped.

Computer interconnectivity
has produced enormous
benefits, but has also enabled
criminal activity that exploits
this interconnectivity for
financial gain and other
malicious purposes, such
as internet fraud, child
exploitation, identity theft,
and terrorism. The Internet
can give identity thieves,
hackers, and scammers online
access to your computer, financial and personal information and
more. Additionally, today’s mobile devices are well integrated with
the internet and have far more functionality than mobile phones of
the past. They are increasingly used in the same way as personal
computers, potentially making them susceptible to similar threats
affecting computers connected to the Internet.
For youths, the internet often serves as a positive and powerful
arena for socializing and learning. However, the use of the internet
also brings about risks to their safety, including the dangers of sexual
solicitation, online harassment and bullying, and exposure to illegal
content. By discussing responsible socializing and communicating,
parents -- regardless of whether they are technologically savvy --
can help their kids make better decisions about online behavior.
Efforts to address cybercrime include activities associated
with protecting networks and information, detecting criminal
activity, investigating crime, and prosecuting criminals, . The
Administration has taken significant steps to better protect America
against cyber threats and has developed a pragmatic and focused
cyber-security legislative proposal for Congress to consider. The
proposed legislation is focused on improving cyber-security for
the American people, our Nation’s critical infrastructure, and the
Federal Government’s own networks and computers.

What you’re saying
about this on...
MrsCathy T: the phrase legal limit for drunk
driving scares me no matter what the percentage is.
Brittany W: Yes! I wish the legal limit was anything
over 0.0 . And so many people drink and drive. Makes
me sick!
Clay A: The plan is great, but why isn’t there any
system in place to cut down on drunk driving? Bars can
stay open til 2:00AM, so how are people supposed to
get home? I’m not advocating drinking and driving in
any way, but shouldn’t the point be implement a way to
get people home safely?
Dylan G: So if I drink two beers I still can’t drive an
hour later? World is crazy
Sandy H: Great News
Jason C: Next thing you know if you had a beer this
WEEK, ..... going to jail ....
Jessie C: Drunk driving is still drunk driving
regardless of what your BAC percentage is.
Jason S: So now we’re drunk after a sip? I didnt
know cabbies had the money/power to use as lobbyist,
to get their way here
Jarrod M: Love it
Ronda W: I don’t think its going to make any
difference people are going to drive drunk regardless
of what the “legal limit” is so how is it going to save
more lives
Mike W: Think it’s a good idea
Mary Jane G: What about sleepy drivers and cell
phone users,they are more dangerous.
Karen F: Great idea! If it can save lives why not?
Those that oppose it, must be the ones that drink and
drive. Lets just put all that drink and drive on a island
with vehicles & with all the booze they want and let
them have at.
Damon M: Just another way to make money...is not
gonna deter someone from driving drunk!!!
Bryan H: So I cant have one beer at dinner because
I’m too drunk.....give me a break. If people are going to
drink and drive they are going to do it no matter what.
I have a cdl so it doesnt matter.......if I wipe my butt the
wrong way they will tell me they can take my license
away. Lets get it straight.....its not about safety, its all
about the $$$$#
Inez L: i think it os a great idea but i if they stop u and
can smell i been drinking to u should be took to jail and
lose ur license for 30 days amd then it should cost i a
fine to get them back
Bobbi W: DUI-ers gonna DUI
Amy B: drink at home, its safer.
Wes H: if weed is illegal so shud acohal b i neur heard
of any one smoken a joint ant kiln anyone
Chad S: That’s ridiculous. Just trying to make more
money not reduce drinking and driving....
Misty L: If it saves one life it is worth it. I lost two
cousins and have one that has never been able to walk
on her own, can’t really talk much, must be taken care
of 24/7....all due to one drunk driver.
Jackie S: I think any amount of alcohol is drunk
driving, but lowering the limit will not STOP people
from drinking and driving. Or even deter them from
doing so. However, getting caught, may teach them a
very pricey lesson.
Dustin F: If you have had anything to drink you
shouldn’t be driving. Go with the military standard of
0.01.
MT S: There shouldn’t have to be a level. If you drink
or do drugs or any kind of thing then that is your
choice. But as soon as you get behind the wheel then
you are endangering others. If you want to have a drink
with dinner then eat dinner at home or have someone
else drive.
Kristin H: They can already arrest you for driving at
.05. It’s called driving while impaired (dwi) apparently
none of you know this.
Tyler B: If you are a cdl holder like me its already low
as hell so go ahead. I’ve always said all drivers should
have to follow the same dot rules i have to follow. Make
shit safer for all of us
Michael S: I think we should just raise the fine,
because the are going to drink and drive anyways.
Casey S: I believe it might work IF every town that
has a bar enforces a taxi service for the patrons of the
bar
Aaron Y: More government telling us what to do and
what we are allowed to drink
Brent W: No it will raise revenue! If is about saving
lives then have no fines just rehab. I didn’t think so...
It’s about money
Kristina R: Just install breathalyzers in every
vehicle. Problem solved. Costly, yes, but overall it
would be cheaper because there’d be a dramatic
decrease in accidents and many lives would be saved.
Ladonna H: There is not room in the jails for the
people that are there and need to be there. They keep
having early release programs. This is about like trying
to outlaw guns. People don’t pay attention to the laws
we have now. One drink at dinner, does not make you
a drunk driver.
Robin B: Alcohol should be eliminated, no
alcohol=no drunk drivers=no DEATH
Christan M: Breathalyzers in every vehicle really???
Not hardly, ill be damned if i pay nor get punished for
so called “adults” drinking and driving however this
does look like another way to make more money bc
im pretty sure drinking less than 1 beer is not going to
classify u “DRUNK” !!!!
Tommy P: I bet if they really looked at these 10,000
deaths caused by alcohol then they would see that
nearly all of the drivers were well over 0.08 so no I
don’t think lowering it is gonna change anything but
the amount of revenue the states bring in! Hell you
could probably blow 0.05 after using mouth wash.
The NTSB (National Transportation Safety
Board) is looking into lowering the legal limit
for drunk driving from its current BAC .08 to a
lower tolerance of BAC .05 They say this move
could save many lives each year. Tell us what
you think of this plan!

Perry man William Cody Warner,
27, learned that drinking, driving and
gun possession just don’t mix.
A Perry police officer pulled Warner
over on May 11 for driving 81 mph in
a 40 mph speed zone. Before the officer could say anything, Warner blurted
out, “Good evening, sir. I apologize for
speeding back there. My house is just
right there.”
According to the police report, the
officer smelled “an odor commonly associated with someone who had been
consuming alcoholic beverages.” He
asked Warner what was going on and
the officer said Warner stated, “I was just trying to speed. I know I’ve
been drinking.”
In addition to his admission, Warner’s red, watery eyes and slurred
speech were also a dead giveaway that he had been drinking. Warner
told the officer that he had been in Stillwater playing golf.
After checking his license, the officer asked Warner why he had
been speeding. Warner explained that he wanted to get home because the next day was Mother’s Day and he just lived two blocks
away.
Warner told the officer he had consumed five beers. After failing
field sobriety tests, Warner was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. As he placed him into handcuffs, the officer asked
him if he had any weapons or drugs on his person. Warned told the
officer he had a gun carry license and that there was a gun under the
driver’s seat.
The officer located the gun and, unfortunately, Warner did not
make it home for Mother’s Day. He was booked into jail for the
charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving
and possession of firearm while intoxicated.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 13, 2013.
Another round?

A Stillwater woman and two accomplices were arrested for conspiracy, aggravated assault and battery, trespassing
and public intoxication after a fight ensued over a measly $100.
According to the affidavit, Sally Ann
Kane, 49, Elijah Kit Shadowen, 32, and
Stephanie Kane-Shadowen, 27, drove
to Noble County from Stillwater on May
14 to collect $100 from the male victim,
which was supposedly owed to Shadowen.
When they arrived at the residence
of the victim, a fight broke out over the
money. The male victim told Noble County police he and a female victim were assaulted by the troublesome threesome.
He said Kane-Shadowen grabbed the
female victim, pulled her hair and pushed
her to the ground. The male victim stated
that he tried to help the female victim,
but Shadowen hit him in the face and
knocked his teeth out.
The officer observed that the male victim’s gums were bleeding, both of the victims had fresh scratched that were bleeding and there was a wad of hair in the
yard that matched the female victim. The
male victim said both Kane-Shadowen
and Kane had attacked the female victim.
Shadowen and Kane-Shadowen admitted they had been drinking. The officer
found evidence of their alcohol-fueled
altercation by the open container of Keystone Light in the center console of their vehicle.
Another man told police Shadowen had asked him to help collect
money from the male victim, but he told him to “let it go,” which is
exactly what the others should have done.
The trio was booked into jail on $5,000 bonds. They are scheduled
to appear in court on June 13, 2013.

Registered Sex Offenders for The Area
FACT:
It is common for both child and adult
victims of sexual assault to wait some
time before telling someone about the
abuse.
True. It is common for victims of sexual
assault to wait some time before telling someone.
When the person was assaulted as a child, he or
she may wait years or decades. The reasons for
this are numerous: victims may want to deny the
fact that someone they trusted could do this to
them; they may want to just put it behind them;
they may believe the myth that they caused the
assault by their behavior; or they may fear how
other people will react to the truth.

A Kingfisher woman’s decision to take advantage of government assistance earned her a felony charge May 15.
Ray Barnes, an investigator from the Oklahoma Department
of Human Services, said Shayla Johnson, 27, received nearly
$5,000 worth of extra food stamps illegally from May 1, 2012
to Feb. 28, 2013.
Barnes, in his investigation, said he concluded Johnson misrepresented her income by not reporting her employment and
earned income. Johnson did not say she was working at the
Countrywood Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in any
of her applications or interviews with social workers, he said.
She wasn’t eligible to receive food stamp benefits because of
her employment, records show.
On April 23, Johnson admitted fraudulently getting the food
stamp money during an administrative disqualification hearing, Barnes said.
Johnson faces a charge of obtaining food stamps by fraud. She was arrested on a warrant
May 17 and posted a $1,500 bond the next day. If convicted, Johnson faces up to two years in
prison and up to a $5,000 fine, which is just enough to cover restitution costs.
On May 22, Johnson pleaded not guilty to the charge. She has court set for 2 p.m. June 6.

A Cashion couple was arrested May
18 after police caught them keeping
drugs in their home with children.
On April 15 and 21, as well as May
12, the Cashion Police Department
conducted trash pulls at a home on
the 120 block of Comanche Street,
which belongs to Anthony Kinner, 52.
Each trash pull had evidence suggesting the existence of marijuana and
methamphetamine in the home, including homemade and store-bought
paraphernalia, remains of marijuana
blunts and rolling papers.
On May 18, Cashion officers executed a search warrant on the home, where they found Anthony Kinner
and another relative who wasn’t charged, as well as a juvenile. They
said Deidre Kinner, Anthony’s wife, lived there but she was job hunting in Oklahoma City during the time police served the warrant.
Inside the home, they found a bag of marijuana, a package of rolling papers, a straw with methamphetamine, a small glass vial with
methamphetamine, a blue pipe and a burned marijuana cigarette.
Also, police found a box of marijuana by a box of Wheaties in one
of the bedrooms. When police were in the house, Deidre called her
husband, and the officers talked to her to tell her to come back to her
home.
When Deidre arrived, she admitted ownership of one of the pipes
and said they smoke marijuana in the house. The last time they
smoked was two weeks before, she said. However, Deidre said her
husband was the methamphetamine user and told the officers he had
been acting weird recently.
Anthony and Deidre posted $5,000 bonds each May 23. They face
charges of possession of controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a
school.
Both will appear in court at 2 p.m. July 11.

On May 7, an officer with the Major County
Sheriff’s Office was contacted to speak to a manager of a company about possible drug activity
involving one of his employees. According to
the police report, the manager told police that
he had seen the employee, Michael Koehn, 23,
of Ames, playing on his company cell phone instead of working. Since the phone belonged to
the company, the manager took the phone away
from Koehn.
The manager said he read the text messages
and found several messages pertaining to drugs
and the sale of drugs between several contacts,
including Koehn’s live-in girlfriend.
The manager gave the phone to the officer.
The officer reviewed the text messages and
found several messages that clearly referred to
the purchase of drugs.
On May 9, police searched Koehn’s residence.
The police found Mariha Kennedy, 19, of Bison,
and Clancy York, 23, of Ames, in the house and
placed them in handcuffs while they searched
the residence.
Police found pipes, marijuana and marijuana
plants in the house. Kennedy and York were
placed under arrest. Koehn was also placed under arrest at his place of employment.
Both York and Kennedy were interviewed at
the sheriff’s office. The officer told York that he
was charging him with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and cultivation of marijuana. He asked York if he knew
what the charge “cultivation of marijuana” meant.
York told the officer, “Yeah, I have a plant growing in my closet.”
York explained that he had a light in his closet where they placed the
marijuana plants. York told the officer that all three of them were
growing marijuana and regularly smoked marijuana in the house.
Kennedy repeatedly denied that she smoked marijuana. After
showing her text messages on the phone that alluded to Kennedy
smoking marijuana with Koehn, she admitted that she does smoke
marijuana due to depression. She denied knowing anything about
the marijuana plants.
After showing her more messages that referred to her growing
marijuana, she tried to convince the officer that she didn’t live at the
residence. The officer showed her a job application where she had
listed her address as the residence.
Koehn refused to speak with the officer.
The three were charged with possession of marijuana, possession
of paraphernalia and cultivation of marijuana. The bond for each
member of the marijuana-growing trio was set at $15,000. They are
scheduled to appear in court on June 20, 2013.
