Douglas
A Carter County man was arrested May 4 after it was discovered he was giving himself and
his family members a five-finger
discount
Joshua Douglas, 21, of Ardmore,
was charged in Carter County
District Court with embezzlement.
His bond was set at $2500.
According to information filed
in the case, Douglas, who was
an assistant manager at Hibbett
Sports, is accused of taking almost
$2700 worth of merchandise from
the store between February 4 and
April 28. Reports say he allowed
family members to take items out
of the store without paying for them first.
He was ordered back to court June 5 for his preliminary hearing.
If convicted, Douglas could face 10 years in prison and a fine not
to exceed $10,000, and restitution.

Keithan Moore, of Wilmer, Texas, wrapped
a towel around his hands to make it appear
he was carrying a gun. He then walked into
a building, walked up to the counter and demanded money. Unfortunately for him, the
building he walked into was the Wilmer Police
Department. After offi cers wrestled him to the
ground, he told the cops it was all a joke. They
took it a little more seriously. He’s under arrest.
Christopher Stone, of Launceston, Tasmania,
wanted some chicken schnitzel... really wanted
some chicken schnitzel. However, he was a
little short of funds. So, he did what any bozo
would do, he stuffed the schnitzel in question
down his pants, threatened the cashier at the
supermarket with a gun and walked to his car.
One thing he didn’t plan on, however, was how
diffi cult it would be to drive with a large schnitzel in his pants. Police offi cers say he was attempting to adjust the schnitzel when he lost
control of his vehicle and rolled the car. He’s
busted!
From Newton Township, Pennsylvania
comes the story of an unidentifi ed pervert who
exposed himself to a woman. But it would seem
that he didn’t really want her to see what he was
showing. The place he chose for his crime was
the Bucks County Association for the Blind. Police are still looking for the suspect.
Joseph Wilkins, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, spotted a stereo in a parked car that he just
had to have. Seeing no one anywhere around,
he broke in but quickly found it was going to be
more diffi cult than he thought. After struggling
to remove the stereo he found it was locked
into the dash and the only thing he could pry
loose was the faceplate, which he took with
him. It was what he left behind that caused all
the problems. Apparently while wrestling with
the stereo, his wallet slipped out of his pocket.

Daiquiri Miller, a 34-year-old Tulsa woman, was jailed after a seventh
child was removed from her care after
the child tested positive for cocaine.
According to Tulsa Police, Miller’s
latest child (born on March 31st)
tested positive for cocaine after she
admitted to using marijuana, cocaine
and alcohol every single day during
her pregnancy.
She also asked health officials
“what took you so long” when they
arrived to take the child into protective custody.
Investigators say seven children have been removed from Miller’s custody over the years because of her continued drug use.
In 2000, 2009, and 2010, Miller gave birth to children who
tested positive for cocaine and marijuana when they were born. In
2009, she asked a health services worker “So are you taking him or
what” during an investigation.
On three other occasions, Miller had children taken away by the
Department of Human Services on accusations of abuse. In 1997,
a three month old was taken because of a suspicious broken leg.
In 1999, a child was taken after police became aware of her drug
use and feared neglect. In 2006, officers caught Miller smoking
cocaine next to her four-month-old daughter in a vehicle.
Miller has also been been arrested several times on prostitution
charges. Investigators say she solicited an undercover officer in
February while pregnant.
Miller was booked into the Tulsa City Jail and charged with child
abuse and two counts of prostitution. Her bail was set at $250,500.

Death row
Sterling Williams
Williams was convicted of
stabbing to death 22-yearold LeAnna Hand and
assaulting her roommate,
Elizabeth Hill, in 1997 in
their Tulsa apartment.
Williams was a doorto-door meat salesman
and had sold Hand and
Hill meat on a previous
occasion. Williams stabbed
Hand with a butcher knife
and then kicked open Hill’s
bedroom door and attacked and battered her.
He received the death sentence for Hand’s murder
and a 99-year sentence for Hill’s attack.
A Kansas City psychiatrist testifi ed that he
diagnosed Williams with bipolar disorder. The
psychiatrist said Williams had fi xated on four
women and had intended to rape Hand, not kill her.
Williams had fi ve prior felony convictions in 1993
in Jefferson County, Ark. -- two for rape and one
each for kidnapping, burglary and battery. He
received a 10-year-sentence and 10 years’ probation
and was paroled in January 1996.

PETIT LARCENY
Answer: The first
thing to understand in this discussion is that there is
only one race—the
human race. Caucasians, Africans,
Asians, Indians, Arabs, and Jews are
not different races.
Rather, they are different ethnicities of the human race. All human
beings have the same physical characteristics (with minor variations, of course). More importantly, all human beings are created
in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27). God loved the
world so much that He sent Jesus to lay down His life for us (John
3:16). The “world” obviously includes all ethnic groups.
God does not show partiality or favoritism (Deuteronomy 10:17;
Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11; Ephesians 6:9), and neither should
we. James 2:4 describes those who discriminate as “judges with
evil thoughts.” Instead, we are to love our neighbors as ourselves
(James 2:8). All forms of racism, prejudice, and discrimination are
affronts to the work of Christ on the cross.
Jesus commands us to love one another as He loves us (John
13:34). If God is impartial and loves us with impartiality, then we
need to love others with that same high standard. Jesus teaches in
Matthew 25 that whatever we do to the least of His brothers, we
do to Him. If we treat a person with contempt, we are mistreating
a person created in God’s image; we are hurting somebody whom
God loves and for whom Jesus died.
Racism, in varying forms and to various degrees, has been a
plague on humanity for thousands of years. Brothers and sisters of
all ethnicities, this should not be. Victims of racism, prejudice, and
discrimination need to forgive. Ephesians 4:32 declares, “Be kind
and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in
Christ God forgave you.” Racists may not deserve your forgiveness,
but we deserved God’s forgiveness far less.
What does the Bible say about Anger?

Computer interconnectivity has produced enormous
benefits, but has also enabled criminal activity that exploits
this interconnectivity for financial gain and other malicious
purposes, such as internet fraud, child exploitation, identity
theft, and terrorism. The Internet can give identity thieves,
hackers, and scammers online access to your computer, financial and personal information and more. Additionally,
today’s mobile devices are well integrated with the internet
and have far more functionality than mobile phones of the
past. They are increasingly used in the same way as personal computers, potentially making
them susceptible to similar threats affecting computers connected to the Internet.
For youths, the internet often serves as a positive and powerful arena for socializing and
learning. However, the use of the internet also brings about risks to their safety, including
the dangers of sexual solicitation, online harassment and bullying, and exposure to illegal
content. By discussing responsible socializing and communicating, parents -- regardless of
whether they are technologically savvy -- can help their kids make better decisions about
online behavior.
Efforts to address cybercrime include activities associated with protecting networks and
information, detecting criminal activity, investigating crime, and prosecuting criminals,
. The Administration has taken significant steps to better protect America against cyber
threats and has developed a pragmatic and focused cyber-security legislative proposal for
Congress to consider. The proposed legislation is focused on improving cyber-security for
the American people, our Nation’s critical infrastructure, and the Federal Government’s own
networks and computers.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Almost a year after police found Glen
Brownlee lying dead in a pool of blood
in his home, the Garvin County DA’s Office was presented with enough evidence
to charge a suspect with murder in the
crime.
Martin High, 41, of Wynnnewood, is
being held in the Garvin County Jail on a
$1 million bond.
The Wynnewood Police Department
requested OSBI assistance last September 29 for the murder Brownlee, 84, who
was found by officers dead inside his
home at 708 S. Long Street about 8 p.m.
Brownlee’s family called police requesting a welfare check because
they had not heard from the victim in several days.
OSBI agents have conducted interviews with neighbors in that
rural area. OSBI crime scene agents spent the night and early morning hours collecting evidence from the scene for analysis at the OSBI
Forensic Science Center.
Less than a month later, police responded to a home invasion
in the 900 block of N. Garner in which the victim was beaten and
robbed. The victim claimed he knew who robbed him and named
High as the culprit.
In an interview with High the next day, High denied being at the
victim’s residence. Because of the similarities between the home invasion and the Brownlee case, investigators questioned High about
his knowledge in the later case. He adamantly denied knowing anything about Brownlee’s death except from what he heard around
town.
High’s prints were taken and they matched the prints found at
Brownlee’s home. Even with the evidence against him, High still
maintains he is innocent.

A 30 year-old Wynnewood man was taken into custody May 10
after he tried to set his friend’s house on fire via a flannel shirt.
Kenneth Preast was charged May 11 with first-degree arson in
Garvin County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Preast and a woman
were traveling in her car when they began arguing about she not
letting him drive because he was extremely drunk. They ended up
at the victim’s house where the argue intensified. Preast became
violent and began throwing things around the house. The woman
then hit Preast to get away from him and ran to another residence
nearby.
A witness told police he saw Preast walk out of the back door of
the house, lock it behind him, and leave. A few minutes later, he heard the smoke detectors
go off and flames and smoke in the house. The witness then said he was let in by the victim,
grabbed the flaming flannel shirt, and threw it in the yard. The fire department was called
and put the shirt out of its misery.
Preast was apprehended a few minutes later, his face covered in blood from the woman’s
defensive whack. He refused treatment and was taken to Garvin County Jail.
During an investigation conducted by the Garvin County Sheriff’s Department and the
fire inspector, it was concluded that Preast allegedly set a shirt hanging on a wooden rack
next to the door on fire with a cigarette lighter as he left the house.
Preast’s preliminary hearing conference is scheduled for June 15 and bond was set at
$50,000.

Legislation aimed at closing
legal loopholes in deaths resulting from designer drugs has
been signed into law. Senate Bill
987 expands the definition of
murder in the first degree to include deaths resulting from the
manufacture or distribution of
a synthetic, or “designer drug”
as well as the manufacturing of
drugs that result in a death, as in a meth lab explosion. Gov. Mary
Fallin signed the bill into law.
Senator Susan Paddack said she filed the legislation after East
Central University students Stacey Jewell and Andrew Ackerman
died last year after using “2-Bromo Dragonfly,” a designer drug
still available on the Internet that can cause hallucinations, vomiting, seizures and rapid heartbeat. Prosecutors said because of how
the current law was written, the individual responsible could not be
charged with first degree murder.
“Designer drugs can be just as lethal as heroin or cocaine, but because our statutes did not specifically address them, prosecutors had
their hands tied when seeking justice,” said Paddack, D-Ada. “With
this new law, deaths resulting from the sale or manufacture of these
new drugs can be prosecuted as first degree murder cases.”
The legislation also expands the first degree murder definition to
include deaths from the manufacturing of drugs, such as meth lab
explosions.
“This new law will allow prosecutors to go after the dealers and
manufacturers of synthetic drugs and meth cooks when their product or manufacturing process leads to someone’s death,” said Senator Tom Newell, R-Seminole. “This legislation was long overdue and
had this sort of a law been in place, we may have seen fewer deaths
caused by synthetic drugs in Oklahoma communities last year.”
The new law becomes effective November 1, 2012.

In the past few months, there have been many stories of high school teachers being arrested for having
sexual relationships with their students. Give us your
opinion: should teachers who have a sexual relationship with a student who is 17 or older be prosecuted?
Poll
Scarlet T: Yes they should be prosecuted, they are there to teach not have
sex with the kids, if they are still in school
teachers should have more control.
Mike M: YES, its not about the age
but the morality
Samantha W: not in the legal way
like registering as a sex offender.. but
definitely a professional way such as being fired. they ALL (teachers & students)
know what they’re doing is inappropriate
& far from professional, so some action
should be taken.. but when its consentual it should be taken sooooooo extreme.
Jackilyn P: hell yes!! they should be
prosecuted!! they’re there to teach not
have sex.
Dakota M: Its supposed to be a professional business of teaching students,
not teaching students to have sex with
them and disobeying the law. If the student was done and graduated then that’s
their business but not while in school.
Coby P: If they’re the age of consent
and it’s not taking place in a school then
it’s not anybody’s business.
Adrian B: Yes, there is a huge differential in power between a teacher and
a student. Teachers who take advantage
of students are violating the teacher/
student relationship. Its never okay for a
teacher to date their students, even if the
students are college age.
Bobbie A: When you keep God out of
places the devil tends to get in and take
over!
JoAnn S:I know one of these teachers and it’s really a hard question to
answer. He is a really nice person and
has a family. He was really involved in
his sons lives and in sports with them.
Just to know him, you wouldn’t think he
would do something like that. But on the
other hand, it is against the law and anyone that breaks the law should be punished. However, it is a sin and I believe
that is between him and his God. AND
then there is the girl. She was 17. I was
also told it takes two. So if one is going
to be punished then both parties should
be punished.
Kari H: Of course. The question is
“Should the teacher who has sex with the
student be prosecuted”. Turn the question around “Should the student who
had sex with the teacher be prosecuted”
and most would say “yes”.
Maria H: hell yes!! they should be
prosecuted!! they’re there to teach not
have sex.
Robert F: Most of you are talking
about two different things 1) criminality
(2nd degree rape) and 2) morality. It is
legal for a 60 year old man to sleep with
a 16 year old girl. Why is that any better
than a 23 year old teacher and a 17 year
old? I don’t see a meaningful difference.
HOWEVER, it should be a fireable offense.
Christina G: Yes so it can show
ppl how serious this is. First of all, how
dumb can a teacher b to even think about
getting w a student?Parents & caretakers
have trusted the school system by sending their kids to school based on EDUCATION, not to form a ‘special’ relationship
with a teacher. And imagine how things
will b for the student, as he or she gets
older, the memory of the ‘relationship’
with the teacher will b forever branded n their mind....not Jen the school
cheerleader or Jon from band class but
a freakin’ teacher. BTW.....a teacher n
the Okemah school system resigned a
couple of weeks ago due to an inappropriate relationship with a student. The
mother showed text messages between
the teacher & student. But it was all
hush-hush because the teacher is related
to somebody from the local newspaper
office. My nieces who knew this teacher
said she always got back massages from
the guys....now this should not b something you should hear about a teacher.
What happened to comments such as,
‘Mrs. Smith was a great math tutor’ or
‘Mr. Smith made biology so much more
simple with his methods.’ Maybe yearly
psychological tests should b done to
teachers to avoid any more mishaps.

Mooneyham
Daniel Leslie Mooneyham, 33, of
Oklahoma City, was sentenced to 240
months in prison May 15 by United
States District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti for receipt of child pornography
depicting a 15-year-old boy.
According to court records, Mooneyham, using a fake Facebook profile,
pretended to be an attractive, 18-yearold blonde female named “Terri Smith.”
Posing as Terri Smith, Mooneyham
would send Facebook “friend requests”
to teenage boys, some of whom he knew
through a Lexington church youth
group and a youth camp where he volunteered. After establishing
a Facebook “friendship” with teenage boys while posing as Terri
Smith, Mooneyham would solicit pictures of the boys’ genitalia in
exchange for sexually explicit photos of Terri Smith. Mooneyham
would direct the boys to text or e-mail their nude pictures to a Yahoo! e-mail account that he had created for his Terri Smith Facebook profile. Mooneyham received nude pictures via e-mail from at
least three minors and solicited others. The pictures of Terri Smith
that Mooneyham sent to the boys depicted an unknown female that
Mooneyham had found on the Internet. During the investigation,
Mooneyham, posing as Terri Smith, also solicited a sexually explicit
photo from an undercover FBI agent, who was posing as a 15-yearold boy on Facebook.
When fashioning his sentence, Judge DeGiusti took into consideration evidence that, while pending sentencing, Mooneyham
conspired to hire a third party to murder his wife, a plot which was
ultimately foiled. His wife had reported Mooneyham’s Facebook
activities to the FBI, which led to his arrest.
Mooneyham pled guilty on August 5, 2011. Upon release from
prison, Mooneyham will be on supervised release for five years and
will have to register as a sex offender.

head hanging out of the window. He looked further inside the car
and saw two children, a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old, sitting in the
back seat, according to the probable cause affidavit.
After several attempts, Bristol finally was able to get Pauley to
wake up. He asked if he was okay, but Pauley mumbled something
and passed out again. Bristol tried two more times to wake Pauley
up, and on the third try, he awoke just long enough to tell the officer that he had taken Somas and Percocets a few hours earlier.
Bristol asked Pauley to get out of the car. He obeyed, but nearly
fell getting out and had to grab onto the car door for support. Bristol helped him get steady and then placed hand restraints on him.
Very carefully, they made their way to the patrol unit and Bristol
placed Pauley in the back seat where he passed out again.
Bristol checked on the children, who were scared, but unharmed.
He let them stay in the back seat while he searched the vehicle. He
also advised dispatch of the children in the back and a pit bull dog
in the front floorboard.
Pauley’s fiancé showed up shortly thereafter to pick up Pauley’s
passengers.
When Bristol ran the tags on Pauley’s car, dispatch told him the
the tags had been out since December. The decal on the tag belonged to a 1984 Yamaha X70 motorcycle.
Pauley was taken to St. Anthony South Hospital where blood was
drawn and then transported to Newscatle Jail and booked on complaints of actual physical control while under the influence of drugs
and an altered tag.

Summer is upon us, school is
out, and the time for recreation
and fun in the sun is here! With
summertime comes traffic to
and from the lakes, as well as numerous other endeavors that
you can enjoy across the state, including camping, riding horses,
motorcycles, and ATVs, and other activities too numerous to list
here. One thing that a lot of these activities have in common is
towing something to and from these locations. I am going to try and
touch on some of the basic safety issues to keep in
mind when towing a trailer.
One of the most important safety features that trailers come
equipped with are the safety chains or cables. These are required,
and must be in use when towing. These chains keep the trailer
attached to the vehicle should the coupling device break or otherwise
become disengaged. These chains or cables shall be of sufficient
size and strength to prevent parting from the towing vehicle. A
helpful hint when connecting your stay chains or cables is to cross
them under the tongue of the trailer. The stay chains or cables must
be attached in a manner to prevent the tongue from falling to the
ground, and crossing them allows the chains to catch it if it should
come off the coupling device.
Some larger trailers come equipped with an emergency breakaway
device. This device has a cable coming from it that must be attached
to the vehicle. If the trailer becomes disconnected from the vehicle,
when the cable is pulled tight, it automatically applies the trailer
brakes, preventing it from free-rolling. This device is required on
all trailers with a GVWR of 3000 lbs or more. Speaking of brakes,
state law requires that all brakes be maintained and in good working
order!
If you are breaking out this trailer for the first time since winter,
it’s a good idea to check the tires. Tires that sit for a long time
develop dry rot, flat spots, and lose pressure. Make sure that your
tires are in good working order, still have sufficient tread, and check
the pressure. Run the tires at the manufacturer’s suggested psi for
optimal performance.
Last but not least, we come to trailer lights. Make sure that all
your lights are functional. Plug them into the towing vehicle, and
check them all! Don’t assume that if they work in the daylight,
they will work at night, go ahead and check them with the towing
vehicle’s headlight switch turned on as well. If you are towing more
than one thing; in other words, towing in combination, only the
rearmost trailer’s lights must be operational.
Summertime is recreation time, and getting our toys to our
destination and back safely is the responsibility of every safe,
courteous driver. Lets all do our part to enjoy summer safely.
As always, thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!
