lost and found
A Maysville man was put behind bars after
he allegedly broke into a residence and stole
some stuff on November 4.
50-year-old Byron Dean Hartshorn claimed
he found the items on the side of the road.
According to the affidavit, a Garvin County
deputy was dispatched to a residence on
North CR 3180 shortly after 3 p.m. to investigate a burglary. The victim said he and his
wife left their residence around 11 a.m. While
they were gone, someone pried open their
entrance gate and broke into their home. The
suspect took several items from the house, a
storage building and the barn. The items included a dark green safe containing cash and
personal papers, chainsaws, power tools,
jewelry and some handmade knives.
On November 21, deputies went to Hartshorn’s home to speak to him about
the burglary. They searched his truck and found a dark green box. Inside the
box was multiple knives. Some of the knives were stamped with the victim’s
initials. The knives were also identical to the ones the victim reported stolen.
Hartshorn told police he found a tool box containing some knives and
a grinder in a ditch near East CR 1510 and North CR 3190. He grabbed the
tool box and took them home.
Some birth certificates belonging to the victims were also found in Hartshorn’s truck – he said he found those in the tool box. There were a total of 21
knives found in the tool box. The victim reported 38 knives missing.
Other items found in Hartshorn’s possession belonging to the victims included Medicare cards, Social Security cards, a voter identification card and
some family photos.
Hartshorn is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property. His
bond was set at $2,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January
4, 2019.

THREE IN TROUBLE AFTER MOM
SNEAKS PILLS INTO COURT
AROUND THE AREA
A mom, her inmate son, and another inmate
are all facing charges of bringing contraband
into a jail after the woman tried to sneak some
pills to her son during court on December 6.
Reports state 37-year-old Durant man Robert Dale Gibson went before a judge that morning.
Before he was put back into his cell, he was
allowed to give his mother, 67-year-old Mavis
Marie Gibson of Durant, a hug.
A deputy who was monitoring the incident
saw something strange happen when mother
and son embraced. He watched as Mavis Gibson handed her son some pills. The pills were
later identified as Xanax.
When the deputy confronted the man and
seized the pills, Robert Gibson told him, “Those
pills weren’t mine.” The deputy told him that
they came out of the man’s hand – Robert Gibson replied, “No, they didn’t.”
The pills were placed on a table, where they
caught the attention of Gibson’s fellow inmate,
Kingston man Vincent Michael Young, 25.
Young grabbed the pills and tried to shove
them into Robert Gibson’s mouth, but the
meds fell to the floor. Young then tried to step
on the pills to crush them, but a detention officer pushed him back.
Mavis Gibson is being charged with brining
contraband into jail/penal institution and distribution of controlled substance. Her bond was
set at $3,500, and she is scheduled to appear
in court on December 20, 2018.
Robert Gibson is being charged with bringing contraband into jail/penal institution. Bond
was set at $15,000.
Young is being charged with brining contraband into jail/penal institution and distribution
of controlled substance. His bond was set at
$25,000, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on January 7, 2019.

A woman in Florida got so excited after stealing a family’s Apple technology that she decided to take some selfies of her own. She had stolen
an iPad and an iPod Touch out of their car while they were visiting one of
Florida’s regional parks. Apparently not realizing that photos taken on an
Apple device will show up on the computer, her selfies surfaced on the
family’s iCloud account two weeks later. All of these pictures are able to
be located geographically.
A middle-aged man was stopped by police as he rode his horse down
the streets of Colorado. Why? He was seen hitting the horse, but told the
police there was a fly on his head. Further investigation revealed that he
had a small gun, a pug (yes, you understood correctly), and beer cans in
tow. Not surprisingly, he failed an intoxication test and was charged with
animal cruelty, possession of weapons, and drunk riding.
Have you ever accidentally gotten high? Like, you thought it was a
normal brownie, or normal mushrooms. But nope, turns out you’re absolutely tripping. Good luck explaining that one to the police. The only
thing less convincing than that is…”accidentally” growing marijuana on
your property. This is exactly what happened to a 73 year old man, who
claims he found the seeds in a random box and decided to plant them.
Lo and behold, up grows some weed. The man showed no sign of being
a pot smoker, yet paid the $200 dollar ticket without argument anyway.
Hopefully he’ll stay away from mystery seeds from now on.
How impatient do you get when waiting for your food to microwave?
Worse yet is when you finally think it’s done, but the plate is a burning
fire disc from the sun’s core and your food could have been found in the
fur of a frozen wooly mammoth from the arctic. How mad would you
get? Hopefully not angry enough to use the microwave as a weapon,
like a guy in St. Louis. A 43 year old man and a 36 year old man got into
a heated argument over “personal matters”, resulting in a knife being
pulled and a microwave oven being thrown. Both were admitted to the
hospital with serious forehead wounds. I don’t remember these being
part of the Easy Mac directions???
We’ve all seen those movies about crazy people who believe demons
live in their house, right? Terrifying stuff, but the demons are probably
more scared of you than you are of them. Just…grab a big shoe. And kill
all the flies so they have nothing to eat. Oh. Maybe I’m thinking of something else, something scarier. One guy in Arizona was so freaked out he
almost burnt down the house. With his roommates still home, he started
a fire in his bedroom closet where he believed they were hiding. He used
paint thinner, and is reported to have been reciting Bible verses. He said
he had planned to tell the police but forgot, and he was admitted to the
hospital with burns on his feet. The important thing is, the house is now
100% demon free.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

38-year-old Davis woman Brandi Jeannine Bolton
is in jail after an alleged stabbing that left her boyfriend dead during a weekend camping trip.
Reports state a Murray County deputy was dispatched to a private area off of Classen Road on the
afternoon of December 2. He was advised that two
people were trespassing on some private property –
on the way to the scene, he was also advised that a
man had been stabbed at the location.
When the deputy arrived, he found Bolton giving
a man CPR. Bolton was apparently the person who
had called 911 to report the stabbing. The victim was
pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputy detained Bolton and interviewed her about the stabbing. The
couple had been camping near a rock quarry on the private land. While at
the scene, officers found alcohol, marijuana and prescription pills.
They’re still not sure what the motive was in the stabbing – the incident
is still under investigation.
Bolton is being charged with murder in the first degree. Her bond was set
at $2M, and she is scheduled to appear in court on December 27, 2018.

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty MCCLAIN COUNTY 21 | JANUARY 2019
A man from Peoria, Illinois, is facing drug charges
after a traffic stop on December 4.
The District 21 Drug Task Force seized $165,000 of
drug proceeds from 27-year-old Rogelio ReteguinGuerrero during the stop.
According to reports, a drug task force member
stopped a white Jeep speeding near mile marker 81
on I-35. While speaking to the driver, the agent noticed
the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. He asked all
four occupants in the Jeep to step outside.
The agent asked if he could search the vehicle. The
occupants said yes. During the search, the agent recovered 18 bundles of
cash in a compartment under the front seat.
When questioned about the money, Reteguin-Guerrero told the officer
he was transporting the cash from Illinois to Fort Worth. He admitted that
the money was from selling drugs. The man also told the agent that the
other three occupants were riding with him so it would appear they were
all on a work trip.
Reteguin-Guerrero is being charged with acquiring proceeds from drug
activity. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in
court on January 16, 2019.
