MISERY LOVES COMPANY
A Ponca City man is facing several felony
charges after he allegedly punched a deer in the
face.
According to a press release by the Ponca City
Police Department, on October 7, PCPD officers
were called to the 2100 block of Lake Road be
cause someone had been seen punching a deer
that had been hit by a car. When the officers got
there, they found the man punching at cars and the injured deer. When they
talked to the man, he had blood on his hands and said he was trying to help the
deer by putting it out of its misery, and was punching the cars because no one
would give him a ride.
Eventually, the officers took 38-year-old Johnny Calvin Seal into custody for
Public Intoxication and for lying to the police about his identity. While they were
taking Seal to jail, he started trying to break windows out of a patrol car. Once
they got to the jail, Seal started fighting with the officers. Besides the charges
they already had, Seal has been charged with Cruelty to Animals, Assault and
Battery on a Police Officer, and Placing Bodily Fluids on a Law Enforcement
Officer. Seal’s past arrests include charges for Robbery, Assault and Battery with
a Dangerous Weapon, Domestic Strangulation, Knowingly Concealing Stolen
Property, Endangering Others While Eluding Law Enforcement, Possession of
CDS with Intent to Distribute, and Bail Jumping.
Seal was then booked into the Kay County Detention Center for his new
charges. The injured deer was put down by the PCPD officers who were there.

The founder of a Texas megachurch pleaded
guilty to five counts of lewd or indecent acts with
a child stemming from incidents that date back to
the 1980s. Robert Preston Morris, 64, appeared
in court today in front of Osage County District
Special Judge Cindy Pickerill.
Morris, who resigned last summer as senior
pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas,
was indicted by a Multi-County Grand Jury earlier this year. The abuse began in
December 1982 when Morris was a traveling evangelist visiting the family of the
victim in Hominy. The victim was 12 years old at the time, and the abuse contin
ued over the next four years.
Under the plea agreement, Morris received a 10-year suspended sentence
with the first six months to be served in the Osage County Jail. He must register
as a sex offender and will be supervised by Texas authorities via interstate com
pact. Morris was also ordered to pay his costs of incarceration, including any
medical expenses, and restitution to the victim.
“There can be no tolerance for those who sexually prey on children,” said
Attorney General Gentner Drummond. “This case is all the more despicable be
cause the perpetrator was a pastor who exploited his position of trust and au
thority. The victim in this case has waited far too many years for this day.”
The victim, now an adult, Cindy Clemishire, addressed the impact of today’s
plea.
“Today justice has finally been served, and the man who manipulated, groomed
and abused me as a 12-year-old innocent girl is finally going to be behind bars,”
she said. “My hope is that many victims hear my story, and it can help lift their
shame and allow them to speak up. I hope that laws continue to change and
new ones are written so children and victims’ rights are better protected. I hope
that people understand the only way to stop child sexual abuse is to speak up
when it happens or is suspected.”
“Today is a new beginning for me, my family and friends who have been by my
side through this horrendous journey,” Clemishire said. “I leave this courtroom
today not as a victim, but a survivor.”

A Whitley County, Kentucky, woman is facing charges
after allegedly biting two sheriff’s deputies and breaking
one deputy’s nose with his own baton on October 13.
Amy Mabes, 37, was arrested after a deputy respond
ed to a disturbance call on U.S. Highway 25 in Williams
burg, where someone was allegedly breaking windows at
a home.
According to an arrest citation, the deputy found Mabes
in the backyard with a large metal tool in her hand. When
ordered to drop the tool, Mabes initially refused and tried to get away when the deputy tried
to detain her.
A foot chase began when Mabes ran across U.S. Highway 25 into a heavily wooded area.
The deputy tried to use his Taser, but it was not effective. After taking Mabes to the ground
and putting her in handcuffs, the citation says she continued to resist arrest as they made their
way out of the woods.
Mabes slipped one handcuff and attempted to escape by striking and kicking the deputy.
During the physical confrontation, the deputy used his baton to get Mabes to stop resisting,
but he dropped the baton during the struggle.
Mabes picked it up and struck the deputy in the face with it, breaking his nose and causing
a laceration above his left eye that required stitches.
A second deputy arrived on scene to assist, but Mabes bit both deputies during the arrest.
Both deputies received medical treatment at Baptist Health in Corbin. After being taken into
custody, Mabes told authorities she has AIDS and hepatitis.
Mabes was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center on charges of criminal mischief
first degree, disorderly conduct second degree, fleeing or evading police first degree on foot,
resisting arrest, assault third degree on a police officer and assault first degree on a police
officer.

A Randolph County, West Virginia, woman is behind
bars after drugs were allegedly found in her personal
space during a traffic stop.
Michelle Lea Hawkins, 28, of Elkins, WV, is charged with
possession with intent — methamphetamine, and false
evidences, forgery of title and registration, both felonies.
She is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond set by
Randolph County Magistrate Mike Dyer.
According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Trooper H.J. Bonetti of the West
Virginia State Police, the officer noticed a black 2001 Volkswagen Jetta driving without a
right mirror in Beverly.
Bonetti conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Hawkins, who said she did
not have her license with her, and that she did not have insurance on the vehicle, the
complaint states.
Running the vehicle’s registration through the State Police database, the officer learned
the registration had been expired since 2001, although the vehicle’s registration sticker
showed a “colored in black square with a white in color ‘2025’ writing,” according to the
complaint.
The officer placed Hawkins under arrest, the complaint states, and she said she “had
dope in her bra.” She removed a blue container from her bra and
handed it to the officer. It held two yellow baggies which contained
a white powder suspected to be methamphetamine.
The officer also searched Hawkins’ purse, finding $3,300 in
cash, a silver container and multiple-size baggies. Inside the sil
ver container was a measuring scale, according to the complaint.
The officer asked Hawkins where the drugs came from, and she
allegedly said she was given the blue container in Beverly and was
delivering it to Mill Creek.
