An intoxicated guest of the Pocola Casino
was generously given a get out of jail for free
card by a Choctaw Nation tribal police officer. Instead of accepting the officer’s generosity, the Van Buren, Ark., man thought he
could trick police; instead of heading back
east, the man ended up behind bars.
On Dec. 28, the officer was dispatched to
the casino because an intoxicated guest was
urinating in the parking garage, according
to the affidavit.
When the officer arrived, casino security
told him the man, later identified as John McCurley Plash, 30, had
been stumbling around and was getting ready to leave.
The officer made contact with Plash and noticed that the gamblin’
man was very unsteady on his feet and smelled strongly of alcohol.
Since Plash was being cooperative, the officer asked him if he
wanted to call a cab to take him home.
Apparently Plash agreed to the offer, but he didn’t exactly follow
through with it.
Instead of heading home in the cab, he decided that he would have
the cab driver circle the parking lot until the officer was out of sight
so that he could drive his own vehicle.
Security stopped the man, and the officer was called back to the
scene.
When the officer arrived, he saw Plash getting out of his vehicle.
He told Plash that he was under arrest, and he had been given the
chance to go home and not to jail, but he screwed up.
Plash is being charged with public intoxication. He was released
on a $500 bond and pled no contest to the charges. He is scheduled
to appear in court on Feb. 10, 2014.

All sorts of craziness seemed to be going
on at a residence in the 3000 block of Southeast Cravens Road in Wilburton on Jan. 3.
A Latimer County deputy was dispatched to
a residence on report of domestic violence,
but he was met by one sloshed reveler that
apparently didn’t want him to do his job.
An intoxicated McAlester woman released
a stream of expletives on the responding officer. Despite her insistence that she didn’t
do anything wrong and he couldn’t do anything to her, she ended up behind bars for
obstructing an officer.
When the deputy arrived at the residence, he attempted to conduct
an investigation, but 29-year-old Ashley Michelle Hill wasn’t having
that. As the officer attempted to speak to one of the men at the residence, Hill told the man, “Don’t tell that man a f------ thing!”
Every time the deputy attempted to ask the man a question, Hill
would unleash an expletive-filled tirade full of f-bombs, the affidavit
states.
The deputy repeatedly asked her to be quiet, but she told him, “F-
-- you, you can’t tell me what to do.”
When the deputy told her she was under arrest for obstructing his
investigation, she began to back away from the deputy and told him,
“F--- you, I ain’t done nothing wrong so you can’t arrest me.”
The deputy deployed his Taser just as a Wilburton police officer
walked up to the location.
Although Hill continued to actively resist being arrested, police
were eventually able to place her in handcuffs. According to the affidavit, Hill smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared to be very intoxicated.
Hill is being charged with obstructing an officer. She was released
on a personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on Jan. 21, 2014.

A McAlester man with an apparent death wish lived up to
his name when he went crazy while in a patrol car after his
arrest for drunk driving. In an apparent attempt to commandeer the vehicle from the officer, Erik Riley Bonebrake, 26,
put himself and the officer in danger of breaking bones.
On Jan. 4, a Pittsburg County deputy was dispatched to a
residence near West Chambers Road in reference to a possible burglary in progress. The deputy called a McAlester police officer to assist since he was closer to the residence.
When the officer arrived at the residence, the homeowner
told him that the suspect, later identified as Bonebrake, was
possibly trying to break into the house.
The officer met with Bonebrake and told him that he would
need to be detained until the deputy arrived, but Bonebrake
wasn’t having any of that.
When the deputy arrived, he saw the officer on top of Bonebrake trying to put him in
handcuffs. He helped the officer put Bonebrake in cuffs and he placed him in the patrol car.
Bonebrake wasn’t done yet — the fun was just beginning.
On the way to the jail, Bonebrake attacked the deputy. He allegedly jumped across the
center console and head butt the deputy. The deranged man then put his foot on top of
the deputy’s on the gas pedal, forcing the deputy to drive all over the road at a high rate of
speed.
The deputy was eventually able to bring the vehicle to a stop. The officer had been following, and he ran up to the car to assist. Bonebrake finally stopped being combative when the
deputy deployed his Taser in Bonebrake’s shoulder.
When they arrived at the jail, Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that they had found Bonebrake’s vehicle near the residence where he had been arrested. Apparently, Bonebrake had
run into a mailbox and left his vehicle at the scene of the accident.
Bonebrake is being charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of
alcohol, aggravated, assault and battery on a police officer and leaving scene of accident
involving damage. He is being held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court
on Jan. 17, 2014.

Reports of crime in the neighborhood
can make one feel uneasy. The affected
community may work to rebuild
its sense of security by hiring more

To end criminal behavior, we need to reach the heart of people with
the healing touch of divine Love.
Jesus’ life, recorded in the Bible, shows us how to love as God
loves. This spiritual love changes people’s hearts. Knowing that
God is only good and is the true Father and Mother, the governing
Principle, of all humanity, Jesus looked beyond the erring human
personality to discern the pure and perfect spiritual identity of an
individual. Jesus loved – deeply appreciated and acknowledged –
this true identity. When he met Zacchaeus, a corrupt tax collector,
Jesus loved him as God had created him, looking beyond his corrupt
behavior to perceive reality – Zacchaeus’ honesty and uprightness
(see Luke 19:2-8). This perfect love reached the heart of Zacchaeus
and changed his behavior. He pledged to return the money he had
taken unlawfully, recompense for the wrong he had done, and
reestablish his life on an honest foundation.

Michael Wilson
Michael Lee Wilson was
pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. on
Jan. 9, 2014, by lethal injection,
for the murder of his co-worker,
Richard Yost.
Michael Lee Wilson and Richard
Kevin Yost were employees at the
local Quik Trip together. Wilson
planned to rob the store with Billy
Alverson, Darwin Brown and
Richard Harjo two weeks prior to
the murder. Shortly after Yost began
his shift on Feb. 25, 1995, Yost was
surrounded by Wilson, Alverson,
Brown and Harjo. Yost was dragged
to the back room where he was beaten to death by an aluminum
baseball bat. Following the beating, Wilson took money from the
store’s safe and cash registers while helping several customers
check out. All of these actions were seen by Quik Trip’s surveillance
tapes.
Shortly after Wilson’s arrest, Wilson’s mother called the police
and directed them to evidence of the robbery that was located at
her home. Police also found the safe and other materials from the
robbery at Alverson’s house.
Prior to this case, Wilson was an accessory to murder in 1995.
While Wilson was in custody, he committed assault and battery
upon another inmate and got into several fi ghts with inmates.
“Michael Lee Wilson was sentenced to death by a jury of his peers
for the heinous beating of Richard Yost, who was simply doing his
job,” Attorney General Scott Pruitt said. “My thoughts and prayers
are with Richard’s family and friends.”

February Is Teen Dating Violence
Awareness and Prevention Month
During this month, and at all times, parents need to be aware of
the issue of teen dating violence. For as much as domestic violence
among adults is an issue that is too often not discussed -- and too often kept a secret by the victim -- teen dating violence is even less discussed, and even less reported by victims. Nevertheless, in a recent
survey of over 4,000 9th through 12th graders, one in five reported
being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.
The sad fact is that two out of three teens in an abusive relationship
don’t ever tell anyone about the abuse. For girls, when they experience serious sexual abuse they only report it to an authority figure six
percent of the time. This makes it very difficult to know when your
teen has become a victim of dating violence.
Still, there are warning signs that every parent and teacher can and
should look for. Because teenage years are difficult (and secretive)
enough as it is, it’s important to be aware of these warning signs, and
to approach your teen in a way that will make them feel comfortable
talking with you.

A former Rogers County Commissioner who spent time in prison is in
trouble with the law again.
Deputies arrested Randy Baldridge
on Jan. 7.
Tulsa police say a witness has accused Baldridge of picking up runaway
boys and giving them drugs, sometimes
in exchange for sexual favors.
Someone else told police that Baldridge had given him methamphetamine and he later woke up naked in a
field.
TPD turned over the investigation
to Rogers County since the allegations
were centered there.
The Rogers County THUG task force
took him into custody. They say he had
a 16-year-old runaway from Tulsa with
him at the time.
The two were at a Rogers County
home where deputies say they found syringes in the boy’s backpack that tested
positive for containing methamphetamine.
Deputies say they got permission to
search Baldridge’s vehicle and found a
glass smoking device, several syringes
and a silver spoon, all with a white,
powdery substance on them that also
tested positive for meth.
They say all this was found less than
200 feet from the Tiawah Elementary
School.
An affidavit says
Baldridge admitted
supplying teenage
boys with meth, but
he first claimed he
bought it as a way to
keep the boys from
going into those
kinds of places.
It says he originally denied using
meth himself, but later admitted, with
tears in his eyes, that he did use it.
This appears to be a long downward
spiral from where Baldridge was when
voters elected him to be a Rogers County commissioner.
However, in 2007, a federal jury
found him guilty of money laundering,
mail fraud, obtaining money by fraud
and other counts and a judge sentenced
Baldridge to 37 months in federal prison.
The sheriff says when Baldridge was
released from prison, he came back to
Rogers County, got a job and things
were quiet until his office received these
recent complaints.
The affidavit says a second teenage

A Checotah man tried to avoid being arrested
by taking the illegal items out of his car; unfortunately for him, he wasn’t being as sneaky as
he thought and police saw him drop his meth
outside of his door.
On Jan. 6, a McIntosh County deputy was on
patrol when he saw a car turn onto Highway 266
without using a turn signal, the affidavit states.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made
contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified
as Melissa Ray Reynolds, 44. When the deputy asked the Checotah
woman for her license, she told him that her license was suspended.
He asked her for her date of birth and asked the passenger for his
name. The passenger said his name was William Loyde Murray, 44.
The deputy went back to his vehicle to check the status of Reynolds’s license when he saw the passenger door of the vehicle open
and close.
Dispatch advised that Reynolds’s license was indeed suspended
and that Murray had felony warrants out of Muskogee County.
The deputy placed both subjects in handcuffs and began to inventory the vehicle.
When he looked under the vehicle where Murray had been sitting,
he found a blue container that contained a baggie with a white crystal looking substance in it. In the vehicle, the deputy found part of a
glass pipe with a white residue.
Reynolds is being charged for driving under suspension. She was
released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April
25, 2014.
Murray is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
March 5, 2014.

James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI), is providing the following public service announcement:
The public is advised there is currently a fraudulent
phone and e-mail scam targeting Oklahoma utility customers. Customers have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be with the utility company’s billing
department. The caller advises the customers they have a
past-due balance, and if they do not provide credit card or
bank account information, their service will be remotely
terminated.
Customers have also received e-mails stating their bill is
now available and that the amount owed is past due. The
e-mail instructs customers to click on an embedded link to pay the past-due bill. The public
is advised this is a fraudulent phone and e-mail phishing scam.
This type of fraudulent solicitation is not unique to utility companies, and similar scams
have been attempted using banks, government agencies, and numerous other legitimate
businesses. Individuals should not provide any information or click on the embedded links.
Individuals who receive suspicious or unsolicited phone calls or e-mails should contact their
service provider or the involved business directly to verify the validity of the request.

Two Stigler men and a juvenile were taken to jail on Dec.
27, after they admitted to smoking meth. Police found evidence of drug use in their residence.
According to the affidavit, drug task force agents, Stigler
police officers and Haskell County deputies went to a residence in the 500 block of Northwest Sixth Street in Stigler
due to information they had received about one of the residents selling methamphetamine.
When police arrived, Tanner Edward Wise, 32, answered
the door. The police explained why they were there and
Wise invited the officers inside the residence.
When police entered the home, they heard a loud noise
coming from one of the rooms. They asked Wise who was
in the residence, and Wise told them just him and his girlfriend. Police told Wise to tell the girlfriend, who was a juvenile, to come to the living room.
Police asked for consent to search the residence. Wise
asked why they wanted to, and police told him they had
received reports that he was selling meth and was a large
meth supplier for Stigler. Wise denied the accusations.
While police were speaking to Wise, an agent saw a small
clear bag lying next to the coffee table. Due to his experience, he recognized it as a type of packaging commonly
used in the distribution of meth.
Wise eventually granted police permission to search his
house, but it was soon clear why he was so hesitant.
Police found many items consistent with the use of meth including straws and syringes, white residue that appeared to be meth and a bag that contained what appeared
to be marijuana.
They also found Scott Brandon Nicholson, 30, hiding under a bed in one of the rooms.
Wise admitted to smoking meth with his girlfriend and Nicholson a couple of hours
prior to the police arriving.
All three subjects were placed under arrest.
Nicholson is being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $20,000
bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14, 2014.
Wise is being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, maintaining a dwelling for keeping and selling controlled dangerous substances
and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $10,000 bond and
is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 21, 2014.
