4 | JULY 2019 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty LEFLORE COUNTY
two Defendants Plead Guilty To Cattle Rustling
Anthony Whittley, 28, of Parsons, Kansas, and
Jasmine Boone, a/k/a Jasmine Thomas, 28, of Wister, have pleaded guilty to cattle rustling, announced
United States Attorney Timothy J. Downing.
On March 19, 2019, a federal grand jury returned
a two-count indictment that charged Whittley and
Boone with transporting seventeen stolen cattle in
interstate commerce on December 11, 2018, by
moving them from Cherokee County, Kansas, to the
Oklahoma National Stockyards Company in Oklahoma City.
Agents arrested the pair when the sale was complete. They have been in the custody of the U.S.
Marshals Service since early April.
On June 5, both Whittley and Boone pleaded guilty
to transporting cattle in interstate commerce. They
acknowledged in a written plea agreement that they
committed similar thefts in Crawford County, Kansas,
and LeFlore County, Oklahoma, in the second half of
2018. They admitted they sold these cattle in Tulsa
and Springfield, Missouri, respectively. They also
admitted they sold cattle stolen in Cherokee County,
Kansas, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Whittley has agreed to pay more than $43,000 in restitution, including more
than $15,000 to the Farm Service Agency, part of the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, for the sale of mortgaged cattle without the lender’s authorization.
Boone has agreed to pay more than $28,000 in restitution.
Each defendant could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison,
in addition to three years of supervised release, and fined up to $250,000.
Sentencing will take place in approximately 90 days.

A South Carolina man was caught rubbing buttered toast all over his neighbor’s SUV
window. Seems like a foolproof plan, how did he get caught? According to MSN, He
just dropped the toast a few feet away from the car and made his departure, causing
a nearby woman to notice and call the police. The police charged the now hungry man
with “malicious damage to property” and estimated the cost of damage to be about $1.
What’s the hottest you’ve ever been? Temperature-wise of course, because if it was
in physical terms, we all know we were the hottest at our 5th grade, bowl-cut, chubs
stage. But really, to what extent would you go to cool off?
Hopefully not so far you’d get arrested, but this is exactly what a group of four young
men in Germany did. On a hot day, they decided to make their own pool in a car.
In a BMW no less. A policeman noticed a very strange convertible driving down the
road. Upon closer viewing, it appeared that the bathing-suit clad men were splashing
around in the water-filled car, clearly intoxicated. Though there was no law against driving around with a pool in someone’s car, they were probably charged for driving without
a permit. Talk about hot water.
What do you guys think about sausage? I suppose it’s better than a hot dog, which
in turn is better than bologna (which is basically giant hot dog slices?). And no matter
what, it has to be better than Lunchables *shudder*.
No matter your opinion, sausage was a huge disappointment for this Phoenix man.
He attempted to rob two large businesses, first an Ace Hardware and then a Safeway.
He put his hand under his shirt to look like a gun, but the cashier was not fooled and
calmly said “no” to his request for money. Equally unsuccessful was his attempt to rob
a Safeway, which resulted in him being escorted out of the building. He waited a few
minutes before returning into the store to snag a small breakfast sausage and was
therefore charged with shoplifting. I guess all that failing worked up an appetite.
Sometimes people don’t want their babies. Throughout history, these people have
found convenient ways to get rid of them. In the middle ages, a popular solution was
to leave a swaddled infant on the doorstep of a misfortunate new parent. Worse for the
child, another option was an orphanage. In later times, parents could even put their kid
in the circus for life. The last one, I’m actually jealous of.
It might not have been this Florida woman’s goal to give away her child, but that’s
sure what it looked like. She had gone shopping at Dillard’s, and tried to shoplift $260
worth of clothing using her baby stroller. When a police officer followed her out to her
car, she flipped out and eventually threw her baby in its little carseat at him. The baby
was not injured. The shoplifter received three charges, including “resisting a police officer without violence”. Um. What would be violent, throwing her entire family?

8 | JULY 2019 Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty LATIMER COUNTY
A Red Oak man was put behind bars after he allegedly stole an ATV.
According to the affidavit, a Latimer County deputy was advised that a 4-wheeler had been stolen on
June 1. A man reported that his gray ATV was missing. Someone told him that 25-year-old Deven Ray
Derryberry, of Red Oak, had taken the 4-wheeler and
was supposed to return it, but he never did.
The man gave the deputy pictures of the vehicle
with the title and VIN number.
One June 3, the deputy spoke to Derryberry, who
admitted to taking the ATV from the victim’s residence. The man said he was walking by the home when he saw the ATV,
so he decided to take it.
Derryberry told police they could find the stolen vehicle at a residence on
Turkey Creek Road. Officers went to the location and found the 4-wheeler
sitting behind a storage building near the house. The VIN number matched
the one the victim gave police. The property owner said Derryberry had
brought the ATV to her home a couple days prior.
Derryberry is being charged with grand larceny. His bond was set at
$5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 2, 2019.

ARRESTS MADE IN CONNECTION WITH MURDER OF CREEK COUNTY MAN
Two men are in custody after an investigation by
the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI)
and the Creek County Sheriff’s Office connected
them to the murder of 37-year-old Sean Michael
Henderson of Creek County.
Henderson’s body was found floating in floodwater outside of Mannford, Okla., on May 30. The
Creek County Sheriff’s Office requested that the
OSBI assist with the investigation after deputies
discovered evidence that Henderson’s death was a
result of foul play.
An anonymous tip called into CrimeStoppers on
June 2 led investigators to a residence in the 4600
block of 65th West Avenue in Tulsa. Agents say
Henderson went to the residence where 63-yearold Paul Edward Carrier was living and got into an
argument with him. Carrier then shot Henderson in
the backyard of the residence, killing him. Carrier
and 45-year-old David W. Davidson then disposed
of Henderson’s body in a flooded-area outside of
Mannford.
On June 4, Davidson was arrested at his home
in Tulsa without incident. He was booked into the
Creek County jail and charged with First Degree Murder and Desecration of
a Human Corpse. On June 5, an arrest warrant was issued for Carrier. At approximately 6:30 that evening, Carrier was arrested in Tulsa without incident.
He is also in the Creek County jail facing charges of First Degree Murder and
Desecration of a Human Corpse.
This investigation, and subsequent arrests, was a collaborative effort between the Creek County Sheriff’s Office and the OSBI.

A man and woman were taken into custody after
deputies responded to a call involving two people
squabbling; they found the pair… and the drugs they
had in their possession.
Catheryn Bucher, 43, of Savanna, was booked in jail
for possession of controlled dangerous substance with
intent to distribute, possession of controlled dangerous
substance within 1000 ft of a park, and possession of
controlled drug without a prescription.
Kaylon Gates, 25, of McAlester, was booked in jail
for possession of controlled dangerous substance, and
possession of controlled dangerous substance within
1000 ft of a park.
According to the Pittsburg County Sheriff Chris Morris, on June 8, Deputy Jeremy James and Sargent Micah Stites responded to Lake McAlester in reference
to a man and a woman arguing in and around their vehicle. Deputies conducted their investigation and found
what appeared to be methamphetamine, pills, and
drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were then arrested
and transported to the Pittsburg County Jail.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Man allegedly hiding drugs in butt accidentally shoots himself in testicles
A bungling felon from Washington state
made a series of blunders when he shot
himself in the testicles and tried to hide the
weapon — all while storing drugs in his anus,
according to a report.
Cameron Jeffrey Wilson, 27, was carrying a pistol in his front pocket while in his
Cashmere, Wash., apartment on April 5
when the firearm accidentally discharged and
pierced his groin and thigh, according to the
Wenatchee World News.
Wilson, who is a 13-time convicted felon,
told his girlfriend to dispose of the weapon
before heading to the hospital, the paper said.
When the ex-con finally went to the hospital, a balloon of marijuana slipped out of his anus while a doctor was operating on the gunshot wound, court records show.
Cops also arrived at the hospital when alerted of the gunshot wound and
searched Wilson’s car where they discovered a bag of meth in the bloodstained jeans he was wearing when he shot himself.
The officers issued an arrest warrant for Wilson and he turned himself in to
police on April 18.
As he was being processed at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center,
Wilson was strip-searched and another balloon of marijuana slipped from his
anus, the paper said.
While in jail, Wilson made a number of calls to his girlfriend and asked her
not to cooperate with investigators working on his case. Authorities were listening in on the calls.
The convicted felon was charged with possession of a firearm, unlawful
possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance in a correctional
facility, and four counts of tampering with a witness.
Wilson was being held on $110,000 bail and is due in court on June 18.

standoff ends peacefully
A standoff between several law enforcement agencies and a Quinton man ended
peacefully after he was eventually coaxed out
of the wooded area where he was hiding.
Donnie DeWayne Ary, 54, was charged
June 10 with shooting with intent to kill, two
counts of feloniously pointing firearm, prisoner placing bodily fluid on government employee, possession of a firearm after former
felony conviction, and obstructing an officer,
in Haskell County District Court.
According to the Haskell County Sheriff’s
Office, on May 31, deputies were dispatched
to a residence near Lewisville in reference to
a person being shot at. While speaking with
the victim, they learned Ary was involved.
A short time later, several deputies with the Haskell County Sheriff’s Department located Ary in a deeply wooded area near the Haskell/Latimer county
line, and he was still armed. Sheriff Turner was able to make contact with Ary
and arranged for him to come out of the woods peacefully. At first, Ary did not
want to comply, but was eventually taken into custody and transported to the
Haskell County jail.
Assisting the Haskell County Sheriff’s Office was Oklahoma Highway Patrol,
Keota Police Department, McCurtian Police Department, Quinton Police Department, McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office and the District 18 and 25 Drug
and Violent Crimes Task Force.
Ary is being held on a $250,000 bond. His preliminary hearing conference
is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on July 30, 2019.
