RETURNING TO THE SCENE
OF THE CRIME
After 18 months on the lamb, a wanted fugitive has been returned to LeFlore County to
face charges associated with the murder of
another man.
Tyriq Eastling, 23, was charged February 24,
2023, with murder in the first degree-malice aforethought and conspiracy to commit assault & battery, in LeFlore County District Court.
According to Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), on February 21,
2023, the Pocola Police Department requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation to assist with a homicide.
Around 1:30 p.m. that afternoon, officers responded to a shooting call near
Butler Avenue and Clark Avenue in Pocola. When they arrived on scene, they
discovered 26-year-old Barry Lemont Richardson, who had suffered from an
apparent gunshot wound.
Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on the evidence obtained, OSBI special agents identified the suspect
as Eastling. On July 24, 2024, the United States Marshals Service arrested Eastling in Michigan City, Indiana. He was booked into the LaPorte County, Indiana
Jail on a First-Degree Murder charge. He was expedited back to LeFlore County
and arraigned in LeFlore County District Court on August 7.

NO ROOM AT THE INN
A McAlester man with an extensive criminal
history is facing a felony charge after he allegedly robbed a hotel clerk back in June.
William Otis Beeler, 27, was charged July 17
with robbery first degree in Pittsburg County
District Court.
According to court documents, on June 18,
Beeler allegedly brandish a firearm and “asked”
the Comfort Suites employee on duty to give him the keys to the cash box.
The employee complied, fearing he would harm her. Beeler took $160 and
fled the hotel.
The following investigation identified Beeler as the robber and he was arrested and booked into the Pittsburg County jail. Bond was set at $5000 and
he pleaded not guilty at his preliminary hearing. His next court appearance is
scheduled for August 23.
AROUND THE STATE
On August 4, around 3:50 p.m., Officers were
called out to a burglary at Kultivation Kingz near
Pine and 169 in Tulsa. When Officers arrived, they
found the business had been burglarized and a
large amount of marijuana was stolen.
The owners of the business reported they had
multiple tracking devices inside some of the stolen product.
Officers tracked down some of the stolen goods
at a home near Edison and Gilcrease Museum
Road. When Officers arrived, several individuals were seen unloading plastic
tubs full of marijuana from a U-Haul truck. When the individuals spotted the Officers, they took off running.
At the home, Officers recovered 283 lbs. of marijuana, believed to all be stolen,
a Glock pistol, and $13,000 in counterfeit $20 bills.
Kym Mayberry was arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary, Trafficking Marijuana,
and Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
At this time, we know that the stolen marijuana came from at least four dispensaries that were burglarized. One of the dispensaries was able to recover more
than $50,000 in product after the bust.
Detectives are continuing to investigate this case. Anyone with information
about potential suspects related to the burglaries is asked to call Tulsa Crime
Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. You can remain anonymous when calling.
Please reference case 2024-039644.
FYI, please do not contact us and tell us you’ve recently lost 283 pounds of
marijuana and can identify it in person. TPD

TIME TO THINK AND REFLECT
A McAlester man will have plenty of time to think and reflect
back on his life of crime after a judge sentenced him to 17 and
a half years in federal prison.17.5
Richard Allen Rollings, 57, of McAlester, was sentenced to
210 months each for two counts of Possession with Intent
to Distribute Methamphetamine, and 180 months for one
count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, to
be served concurrently. Rollings was also sentenced to an
additional 60 months for one count of Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime, which will be served consecutive to his other
sentences.
On January 10, 2024, Rollings pleaded guilty to two counts of Possession with Intent to
Distribute Methamphetamine, two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and one count
of Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.
According to investigators, in January of 2023, the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office executed
a search warrant at Rollings’ residence south of McAlester. Deputies found over 400 grams of
pure methamphetamine and multiple firearms, along with numerous rounds of ammunition. In
June of 2023, DEA agents returned to Rollings’ residence to serve a federal arrest warrant,
observed evidence of additional narcotics violations, and obtained another search warrant.
Agents found over 2.8 kilograms of pure methamphetamine, eleven additional firearms,
numerous rounds of ammunition, and over $1,800 in cash.
Rollings was previously convicted and served time for multiple felony charges. In 1988,
the State of Oklahoma convicted Rollings of Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to
Distribute Amphetamine and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. In 1999, the
United States convicted Rollings in federal district court on charges of Attempt to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, and Felon in
Possession of a Firearm.
“The lengthy prison sentence handed down against Mr. Rollings is the unapologetic consequence of criminals who choose to traffic drugs in rural, eastern Oklahoma,” said Eduardo A.
Chavez, DEA Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas Field Division, whose area of responsibility
covers the State of Oklahoma. “This accountability and success was the result of a joint investigation with our local law enforcement partners, specifically targeting dangerous criminal
offenders involved in both methamphetamine and firearms trafficking. The men and women of
DEA McAlester will continue to work closely with Oklahoma law enforcement to hold the line
and keep our communities safe.”
“Targeting suspected drug dealers for investigation and prosecution, especially repeat offenders like Rollings, continues to be a priority,” said United States Attorney Christopher J.
Wilson. “Rollings refused to stop dealing in illegal narcotics and possessing firearms. Thanks
to the cooperative work of law enforcement, he will be in federal prison well into his seventies
and no longer a threat to the peace and safety of our communities.”
Rollings will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.

AROUND THE NATION
A 39-year-old is charged with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant, following an officer-involved shooting in East Lubbock.
Lubbock Police were called to the 300 block of
East 37th Street at 9:00 a.m. on August 11th for
a report of a domestic disturbance. Initial information conveyed to dispatch indicated Eliseo Padilla
III was armed with a gun and had destroyed property at the residence.
The responding officer arrived on scene at 9:07 a.m. and found Padilla in front
of the house. Padilla, who was verbally combative, ignored multiple instructions
by the officer to place his hands on a nearby vehicle in order for the officer to pat
him down. After giving multiple commands, and with the knowledge Padilla was
armed with a weapon, the officer deployed less lethal force with his department
issued Taser. Despite the deployment of the Taser, Padilla produced a firearm
and began shooting at the responding officer. In response, the officer drew his
duty weapon and returned fire at Padilla at 9:09 a.m.
The responding officer, who suffered no injuries, immediately notified dispatch
shots were fired and requested EMS. Additional officers arrived on scene and
began dispensing life-saving measures in order to treat Padilla. Upon arrival, EMS transported Padilla to University Medical Center via ambulance with
life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is currently underway by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special
Crimes Unit, LPD’s Office of Professional
Standards and LPD’s forensic unit.
The officer who fired at Padilla was
employed by the Lubbock Police Department beginning in January of 2015.
He is currently on routine administrative
leave per department policy.
Padilla, who remains in critical condition at UMC, was served a warrant for
Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant. His bond is $300,000.

THAT'S METHED UP!
In today’s episode of “Methed Up” we discuss
once again that if you do meth and run from the
law you will end up exactly like this!! Apparently,
David Helms didn’t get the memo though so he
“Methed Up” and learned pretty quick what happens when you have drugs on you and try to run from Deputies in Brevard
County (Florida)!!
Helms, who by the way could play John Goodman’s stunt double in the movie
“John Goodman Goes Back To High School,” fell asleep at the wheel of his truck
while sitting at the gas pumps at the Merritt Island 7-11 for about an hour, so the
store clerk called to report the suspicious activity!!
After the store clerk called the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies Alec Brannon and
Matthew McCarley arrived on scene and made contact with Helms who exited
the vehicle and took off running on foot!! While I’m pretty sure even “Junny”
could have ran him down, Deputies Brannon and McCarly ran him down themselves and tackled him for fleeing from the traffic stop!! Of course, the real reason Helms was running was because he had a bag of meth and a glass pipe in
his pocket and knew that he was just seconds away from taking the ride to jail!!
My favorite part of this story though is that once he was in cuffs, Helm started
screaming and whining like a little baby and continued to be non-compliant, so
he got handcuffed to the stretcher and transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital
where he was medically cleared for priority check-in at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge,
aka jail!!
Helms subsequently got booked into the Brevard County Jail on a total bond
of $4,000 for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting Arrest Without Violence. Of
course Helms also got a free “I Messed Around
And Found Out In Brevard County” T-Shirt so he
can show all his friends that he “Methed Up!!”

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless
