A Soble man was arrested after he was accused of setting a hunting cabin, a camping trailer, and a four-wheeler on fire.
Clint Provence, 43, was charged Nov. 6 with first-degree arson,
third-degree arson, domestic assault and battery, and threatening
to perform an act of violence in McCurtain County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, the co-owner of the hunting
cabin called the McCurtain County Sheriff’s office complaining
that his cabin had been set on fire by the other co-owner, Provence.
A camping trailer and a four-wheeler were also set on fire.
The cabin, located outside Rufe, had been occupied for several
months by Provence and his girlfriend, according to the affidavit.
The girlfriend later told police she and Provence allegedly got into
a physical fight and he set the bed on fire while she was lying on it,
and then left. She said she tried to put the fire out, but there wasn’t any running water in the
cabin. When she tried to leave through the front door, it was blocked, so she had to escape
out the back.
Later, as officers were about to leave, Provence returned to the scene of the crime. He was
questioned and then arrested. On the way to jail, Provence complained his cuffs were too
tight- they weren’t, and he wanted a cigarette. When he didn’t get his smoke, he threatened
to kill the officer and dropped several f-bombs and several choice names.
At the station, Provence continued his profanity and threatened to sue. After much ado, he
was booked into the McCurtain County Jail. Bond was set at $30,000 and he was ordered
back to court Dec. 4 with an attorney.

An Idabel man was arrested after deputies received a call from a woman stating
she held a valid protective order on him
and he had just made contact with her.
Gary Stipe, 26, was charged with stalking
and possession of drug paraphernalia Oct.
26 in McCurtain County District Court.
Detective Taylor Skieens with the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Department
stepped out of the Sheriffs Department and
immediately saw Stipe walking in front of
the Money Services building on Central.
He was told that was where the woman worked and that she did indeed have a protective order against Stipe.
Skieens got into his patrol vehicle and headed south on Central
Street where he found Stipe in front of the Grand Central Station
building. Stipe said he was looking for work and claimed he didn’t
know the woman worked at Money Services. Skieens detained Stipe
until he could figure out what was going on.
While performing a pat-down, Stipe admitted he had a crack pipe
in his back left pocket, so Skieens relieved him of it and put it in his
patrol car.
Skieens spoke with the woman and she said Stipe walked in front of
the business numerous times before eventually entering. She added
he went to the front counter and looked directly at her and asked for
a lighter. She told him she did not have one and he then grabbed a
handful of candy and started toward the door. When he got to the
door, he turned around and looked directly at her. He then left the
building but continued to walk by the business several more times.
Stipe was then transported to the Idabel Police Department without incident.

A Dallas man gave officers a run for their money after
he refused to be taken into custody.
Rico Calixio, 29, was charged with six felonies Oct. 31
after a chase that began in Caney and ending in Tushka.
Charges include endangering others while eluding police,
running a roadblock, assault with a dangerous weapon,
two counts of assault and battery upon a police officer,
and prisoner placing body fluid on a government employee.
According to the police affidavit, around 5:15 p.m. on
Oct. 29, Caney Patrolman Brandon Gerard noticed a pickup traveling north that seemed to be traveling faster than
the posted limit, which was 70 mph. He activated his radar and checked the truck’s speed and saw it was going 81
mph. He turned on his emergency lights and tried to stop
the truck, but it kept on going. He then activated his siren,
but it still did not stop.
Gerard pulled up beside the truck and pointed at the driver, later identified as Calixio, to pull over. Calixio instead sped up to 90 mph for about a half a mile and then
slowed down to 40 mph and continued at that speed.
Tushka Police Officer Troy Binnabose radioed he was going to set a roadblock up at
U.S 69 and Lain Lake Road. When Calixio approached the road block, he refused to
stop and went on through. Binnabose caught up to them, and when Binnabose tried to
pull up beside Calixio, Calixio jerked his vehicle toward Binnabose, almost ramming
his police unit. After much ado, the pursuit came to a stop at the south end of Tushka.
Binnabose and Gerard ordered Calixio out of the vehicle, but he refused. Gerard
opened the driver’s door and again ordered Calixio out of the vehicle. He still refused,
gripping the steering wheel. Gerard then grabbed Calixio and tried to restrain him, but
he uppercut Gerard on the chin. Binnabose pepper sprayed Calixio and he jumped over
to the passenger side of the vehicle threw several f-bombs at the officers.
Fed up with the shenanigans, Gerard pulled Calixto out of the vehicle and onto the
ground. Calixio began resisting again and Deputy Jason Smith and Atoka Police Officer
Mark Finch arrived just in time to assist.
Calixio was finally handcuffed, but kept spitting and kicking until his feet had to be
tied down to restrain him. He was then transported to the Atoka County Jail.
Just give it up

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Fall is finally here, and with the
arrival of cooler temperatures and
the turning of the leaves, a lot of
people in Oklahoma head to the
woods to enjoy the fall hunting seasons. Every year, thousands of
people enjoy a safe and enjoyable hunting season, and proper safe
firearms handling is a big reason why. I’m going to touch on some of
these safe firearms handling tips, and hopefully, this will help insure
that we all have a safe hunting
season.
First, lets cover the four basic safety rules for firearms handling.
1: Always treat a firearm as if it were loaded! Never make the
assumption that a gun is unloaded, even if you just saw someone
unload it. Many unintentional discharges of firearms are usually
followed by someone saying, “I didn’t think it was loaded”. 2: Never
point a firearm at anyone or anything that you are not willing to kill
or destroy. Good muzzle discipline is a cornerstone of safe firearms
handling. 3: Always keep your finger (primary safety) off the trigger
and outside the trigger guard until you have made a conscious
decision to shoot. It only takes a fraction of a second to get that finger
on the trigger from outside the trigger guard when you have decided
to make a shot, so there is no reason to have your finger on the trigger
until then. 4: Always make positive target identification, be sure of
your backstop and the area around and beyond your target. This
one is pretty is pretty common sense...you shouldn’t be shooting at
anything that you don’t know what it is! Knowing what is around and
behind what you are shooting at is critical, because bullets can travel
a long, long ways, even after hitting your target in some situations. In
addition to these, I would add to keep all mechanical safeties engaged
until ready to shoot, and re-engage them when done.
A common occurrence in the field while hunting is crossing fences.
This can be done safely by handing your weapon to a partner,
crossing the fence, and having him hand both your’s and their’s over
to you before they cross. If alone, simply unload the gun, set it on the
ground, cross the fence, then retrieve the gun...and make sure you
keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction! Speaking of unloading a
gun, it is very important to do so correctly. Once you think you have
all the cartridges out of the weapon, physically and visually check
both the chamber and the magazine to make sure! When loading,
again, make sure your barrel is pointed in a safe direction! Also, if
you are hunting in an elevated stand, don’t climb up or down with a
loaded weapon!
Following these simple steps can be the difference between a
safe, enjoyable hunting experience, or a trip to the hospital or
worse! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

PUBLIC DRUNK
A Cartwright man was taken into custody after a store
clerk noticed an odd bulge in his pants.
Allen Drost, 21, was charged Nov. 6 with public intoxication, resisting arrest, larceny of merchandise from a retailer, and assault and battery on a police officer.
According to the police affidavit, Calera Officer David
Boes was radioed Oct. 30 about a suspicious person walking around the inside of the Colbert Dollar General. When
he arrived, a clerk told him about a guy, Drost, walking
around the store acting very suspicious. She also saw him
putting something down his pants and he appeared to be
intoxicated.
While speaking with Drost in the store, Boes could
smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming him.
He asked Drost if he had drank any alcoholic beverages
before coming into the store.
“Yes, I have. I did a few shots earlier,” Drost replied.
Boes also noticed Drost’s clothing bulging from the waistline and pocket area of his red
hoodie. Drost then got agitated and started throwing the items into a basket. Boes informed
him he was under arrest for public intoxication and larceny of merchandise from a retailer and to turn around and place his hands behind his back. Drost turned around, but was
moving his hands around and tightening up as to prevent Boes from placing the handcuffs
around his wrist. After a short struggle, Boes finally got the cuffs on.
Drost was escorted to Boes’ patrol unit and he leaned Drost against the passenger door.
While using his radio to call for backup, Drost did a flip in the air, getting the handcuffs in
front of his body. Drost then took off running, but only made it a few strides before being
caught again.
Boes placed him again in the same position as before and the real struggle began. Drost
kicked the back of Boes’ left leg, and both went to the ground again. A citizen asked if Boes
needed some help, and he asked her to radio in that he was struggling with Drost and needed
assistance as soon as possible.
Calera Officer Wilson arrived just in time. He placed Drost in his unit and transported him
the Bryan County Jail where the jail staff had to place him in leg shackles and handcuffs.

Smith
A Drumright man was taken into custody after he robbed
an adult store in Stillwater and took off with two magazines,
$150, and a new rubber girlfriend.
Jesse Allen Smith, 27, was charged Oct. 15 with robbery with
a dangerous weapon and attempting to elude police in Payne
County District Court.
According to information in the case, Smith went into the
Christy’s Toy Box on N. Perkins Rd. late Oct. 11 and threatened
the clerk with a knife. He then took the blow-up doll, the
magazines and the cash and fled.
Authorities caught up with Smith in his 1999 Ford truck at
the corner of 3rd and Perkins Rd. Smith refused to pull over
and a high-speed chase ensued. At the intersection of Jardot
and Sixth, he blew through the signal light and narrowly missed a patrol car. The chase
ended when Smith crashed his truck into a telephone pole at the end of a dead-end
street and had to be tased into submission.
A knife was recovered from the truck.
Smith was transported to the Payne County Jail and booked in. Bail was set at
$100,000.

Proverbs 22:6 says “Train
up a child in the way he
should go: and when he is
old, he will not depart from
it.”
Children have a wonderful
capacity for trust. The faith
they put in adults is unqualified, and that should humble us; we
often don’t deserve it.
Sometimes kids suffer from intentional betrayal by a trusted
adult, like former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, recently
convicted of sexually abusing underprivileged young boys. Other
times, they are neglected by society at large, as are the 1.7 million
children with a parent behind bars. Many of these kids face enormous
obstacles, but get little notice.
The Bible affirms that children are a central focus of God.
Our national problem is not that we somehow undervalue children;
it’s that we don’t always know where to look to find the children most
in need of our help. Inmates’ children in particular get placed on
the back burner. They grow up in single-parent homes, or they get
shuffled into foster care. They are five times more likely than their
peers to live in poverty. They often endure confusion, loneliness,
depression, abandonment, social ostracism, and profound anger.
Should we be surprised if they often follow their parents to prison?
It doesn’t take much to ease the burden of an inmate’s family.
Churches—and other people of good will—can incorporate prisoners’
children into their existing programs, like VBS, youth mentoring
programs, or summer camps. They can make sure kids have the
supplies they need to succeed in school, or gifts to celebrate the
holidays; the opportunities are boundless.
If we take seriously the notion that every child has inherent worth
and deserves our society’s nurture and protection, we cannot afford
to ignore children with an incarcerated parent. Like Jesus, we must
reach out to them, and their trust will for once not be betrayed. In
turn we will discover that the blessing goes both ways: They will
teach us what it means to have faith that pleases God, faith that
presses in close, believing everything will be okay.
The Bible says

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

What you’re saying
about this on...
Kerri J: What an idiot. He does have rights.
Keep it in his pants, that is his right. Dumbass
Lori S: Its absurd that someone actually
listened to his argument.
Dee D: get some one ur own age dude and
lucky it wasn’t my kid
Megan Q: Y’all are ridiculous. Just because
he’s a teacher it’s against the law because it
was consensual. She was the age of consent.
A 16 year old can have sex with whatever age
they want now?? Seriously y’all are totally
missing the point!!
Lori B: For real?? If I were the Judge... Boot
his but out of the court room: instantly!
Stay away from my daughter!
Chris S: Seems now schools r not getting to b
a place to educate
William B: If it was my daughter he wouldn’t
have to worry about a trial or prison!
Jennifer C: What they NEED to do to solve
this is RAISE the legal age again!!! Things
weren’t so grey when WE were kids - the age
was 18, all in black and white. Didn’t matter
WHO you were, the minimum age of consent
was 18 - NO IF’s, AND’s, or BUT’s about it!!!
Kids are too irresponsible nowadays anyway
to be allowed to make that choice that young...
Coleman R: I dunno, its actually a good
argument to be made. It’s sick, yes, but a good
legal argument.
Charles B: yeah let’s break laws knowingly
and then when we get caught say they are
unconstitutional.
Jamie D: If they made that legal could you
imagine how school would be!? teachers and
students would be (beep) nonstop. Schools
would just be whorehouses. more than they
are now!! teachers would be handin out A’s
For B*’s
Lacy F: lol you guys kill me with the “if it
was my daughter” hello! people your 16 year
old daughter is having sex...Stop blaming the
guys all the time, this girl is just as guilty.
Tabitha C: We don’t want to send our
16 year old daughters to school with old
perverted men knowing it’s ok to have sex
with them! Can you imagine every naive, low
self esteemed teenage girl dating a teacher? I
want to send them to school knowing they are
safe and there to learn not to get hit on, or we
might as well send them to clubs! Ridiculous!
It’s unprofessional and sick!
Angela D: I agree the age should be raised.
Here in Oregon it is mandated that you
become a sex offender if caught and if you’re
over 18 seeing someone under 18. I think It’s
a great law.
Tena S: He KNEW it was illegal for a school
employee to have sex with a student and did it
anyway...PERIOD!
Jessica E: ...its never the child’s fault.
They are young, naive, immature and
full of hormones. Incapable of making an
informed decision. The adult should be held
accountable for taking advantage. Even if the
teen is flirting. A teacher should be able to say
no
Brittany B: YAll say to protect ur kids
from them old perverts.... So what about
when u send them to work.. or to the store...
Anywhere u go you will have them certain ppl

A former high school coach accused of having sex with a
female student fights to have his case dismissed.
The suspect’s attorney said the state’s age of consent law
is unconstitutional.
The controversial legal fight centers on a state law
banning sexual relationships between students and
school employees.
The former educator accused of breaking that law,
Tyrone Nash, allegedly carried on a sexual relationship
with a female student at Western Heights high school.
Nash asked the court to overturn state law.
Under the current law, it would legal for the judge in the case to have consensual
sex with a 16-year-old girl, but Nash, as a former school employee, may not
have the same right.
That’s why the defense said the law should be unconstitutional.
What do you think?

A domestic violence call to police was only the first legal problem for
a Fort Towson man Nov. 3.
Choctaw County sheriff’s deputy Jody King went to a home on Tucker
Road that day to take a report of someone violating a protective order.
Her day at the residence would not be that easy, however.
A woman said Jeremie Goodwin, 32, was harassing her at the home,
which belonged to her uncle. She also said she had an active protective order against Goodwin, adding that he had a sawed-off .410 gauge
shotgun on him at the time.
The woman told King at the scene that Goodwin was threatening her
and her boyfriend and also said Goodwin was already arrested for violating the protective order she filed. Her cousin corroborated her story
and told King that Goodwin had the gun, with the words “Cuz Killer” written on it, in the back of
his truck, according to the affidavit.
At around 6:40 p.m. that day, King found Goodwin and interviewed him at his home. Goodwin
admitted visiting the home on Tucker Road despite knowing about the protective order, King
said.
King then arrested Goodwin for stalking. During a pat-down search, she found a barrel of a
white Security First National Bank pen in his pocket. The barrel had methamphetamine residue
inside and Goodwin used it as a smoking pipe, according to the affidavit. Also, a jailer found a
bag of marijuana during Goodwin’s booking.
Goodwin posted a $10,000 bond for the charges Nov. 6. He has court set for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 18.

Investigators need
help with cold case
Judith Elwell, 5, vanished from her parents’ northwest Oklahoma City home sometime before 9 p.m. July
6, 1967. One of her shoes was found the next day beside
an abandoned house half a block from the Elwell home,
leading police to theorize she lost the shoe while struggling with her kidnapper. No other trace of her turned up.
In the hours and days after her disappearance, hundreds of searchers swept across the area. Individual volunteers mingled with police, firefighters and Civil Air
Patrol workers, and a command post grew outside the
Elwell’s house. After three days the hunt was called off. At
some point over the past four decades, the police case file
was misplaced or destroyed.
Another little girl named Brenda White, 6, from Midwest City, went missing a month after Judith. Unfortunately, hunters found Brenda’s body in November 1967
about 11 miles east of her home in a shallow grave. Judith has never been found. Police believe
on person could be responsible for both disappearances, as they happened so close together.
If you have any information on this case, please call your local police department or contact
Thiessen Detective Agency at 580-284-1616 or [email protected].

A 23-year-old man was arrested at a Walmart
Nov. 5 after flashing his breast implants at fellow
shoppers before spitting blood at police.
Jeremy Owens, from Pennsylvania, was arrested
for his alleged bizarre behavior at the Lackawanna
County store.
Police found him on a local bus which he then
refused to get off.
After he was arrested and put into a police car,
Owens, who calls himself ‘Jamie’ banged his head
against the window and cut himself, which allowed
him to spit blood at officers.
The 23-year-old was jailed for aggravated
assault, drug possession, and making terrorist threats.
He was not charged for indecent exposure.
Owens was arrested two weeks ago for lying to police about the abduction of a friend
and previously in March following a disturbance at a doughnut shop when he allegedly
spat on two female customers.

An Antlers ex-con has a new set of
felony charges after police searched
his residence Nov. 4.
Pushmataha County sheriff’s deputies reported arresting Chris Dial,
36, for having two syringes and two
bags of marijuana. However, what
the deputies found after Dial’s arrest
would be nothing good.
Acting on a search warrant Dial
signed, the deputies found a hydrochloric acid generator, salt, a cold
pack, lye, drain cleaner, coffee filters
and jars with methamphetamine residue. A relative of Dial’s told police
he was learning how to make shake
and bake methamphetamine labs, adding she caught him using her
Pyrex plates to make the drug recently and kicked him out of the
house.
To make matters worse for Dial, his home is across the street from
Antlers High School.
He was charged with endeavoring to manufacture controlled substances, possession of controlled substances and possession of paraphernalia Nov. 5. Dial was previously convicted of two counts of
possession of controlled substances in 2003 and 2009, spending one
year in custody for the 2009 charge. He also has two convictions of
marijuana possession and another of failing to provide for a child on
his record, which earned him a five-year suspended prison sentence.
He faces between seven years to life in prison for the manufacturing
charge. This year alone, Dial faced five uttering forged instrument
charges and was a defendant in a protective order. Both were eventually dismissed after the respective parties declined to proceed with
prosecution.
Dial remains in custody on a $100,000 bond. He has court set for
9:30 a.m. Dec. 5.
