A gang sign-throwing burglar is in jail after he was disrupting customers at Wal-Mart in Stillwater, and trying to steal items from the
retailer.
On Dec. 28, Stillwater police officers were dispatched to the store
in reference to three “Mexican shoplifting suspects” that were attempting to steal electronics and were cussing and throwing gang
signs in the store.
When police arrived, they were met by some theft apprehension
employees who were waiting at the south door with an angry Michael Christopher Gomez, 25.
Police spoke to the employees who said that Gomez had been acting suspicious in the OSU apparel department. An employee said
that he saw Gomez hide a box security wrap behind some merchandise.
They advised police that Gomez had been banned from the store in June.
From the OSU apparel department, employees watched as Gomez walked to the jewelry
department with an Xbox One in his grocery cart.
The Xbox was missing it’s security wrap, and Gomez had put some clothing on top of the
game console in an attempt to steal it.
He then began walking around the store nervously toward the exit doors, until he noticed
an employee following him. He then shoved the cart down an aisle and walked out of the
store, threatening to beat up an employee.
Police placed Gomez in handcuffs. An employee informed police that the two other suspects were near the exit doors.
An officer made contact with the two surprised males, who did not know Gomez and seemed
very surprised about being stopped. When the officer explained the situation to them, they
told him that they were Indian, not Mexican.
One of the men told police that Gomez had approached him in the store and asked if he
knew where he could “score” some drugs.
The man said he told Gomez no, but Gomez told him that he could get some money because he was about to steal an Xbox.
Police transported Gomez to jail; on the way, Gomez became belligerent toward officers
and smelled like alcohol. He was kicking doors and banging his head against the cage in the
patrol car.
Gomez is being charged with larceny of merchandise from retailer, trespassing after being
forbidden and public intoxication. He is being held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on Jan. 8, 2014.

If you know the tests used by police to check the sobriety
of drivers by heart, it’s probably time to either put down the
bottle or surrender your driver’s license.
Brandon Michael Hughes, 37, was arrested Dec. 29, after
he was caught driving while drunk in Yale. Although the
Terelton man did not do well on the initial standard field
sobriety tests, he seemed upset when the officer didn’t instruct him to do the last test.
According to the affidavit, a Payne County deputy was on
patrol when he saw a yellow truck driving all over Highway
51. The driver of the truck kept crossing over the median
line and couldn’t seem to drive in a straight line.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact
with the driver, identified as Hughes. Hughes immediately
admitted to drinking four beers and told the officer that he
had just left a local strip club.
The deputy told Hughes that he appreciated his honesty,
and after checking the man’s documents, asked him to step out of his vehicle to participate in
the standard field sobriety tests.
Hughes agreed to take the tests and stepped out of his vehicle. During the one leg stand test,
Hughes stopped counting at 12 seconds and put his foot down. The deputy asked him if he
was done, and Hughes replied, “I don’t think so.”
After failing to complete the test, the deputy once again asked him if he was done.
Hughes said, “Isn’t there one more?”
The deputy gave him instruction for the last test, but Hughes was unable to complete that
as well.
The deputy placed Hughes under arrest and conducted a search of his vehicle. He found an
18-pack of beer that was missing five beers. The beers were cold to the touch.
Hughes is being charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating
liquor, second and subsequent. He was released on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 30, 2013.
Wait, there’s
one more!

The Bible does not
prohibit the consumption
of alcohol but leaves that
choice up to the individual.
Opponents argue against
drinking by citing the
destructive effects of alcohol
addiction, such as divorce,
job loss, traffic accidents,
breakup of families, and
destruction of the addict’s
health.
One of the most dangerous elements of drinking alcohol is setting
a bad example for other believers or leading them astray. The
Apostle Paul, especially, cautions Christians to act responsibly so as
not to be a bad influence on less mature believers:
Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be
blameless-not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to
drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. (Titus 1:7,
NIV)
As with other issues not specifically spelled out in Scripture, the
decision whether to drink alcohol is something each person must
wrestle with on their own, consulting the Bible and taking the matter
to God in prayer.
In 1 Corinithians 10:23-24, Paul sets down the principle we should
use in such cases:
“Everything is permissible”-but not everything is beneficial.
“Everything is permissible”-but not everything is constructive.
Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. (NIV)
Bible Says:

What you’re saying
about this on...
DeVocha H: People are sick
Cheryl T: eww
Cheyenna H: Out on
bond???????
Mary C: should have made his
bond higher
Eddie J: oh hell yea thats sexy
Bobby A: If they would just
hang one of these sick individuals
that are in to child porn, it might
stop that sh**t.
Aline L: Sick ass people wonder
how many camera’s they haven’t
found not much telling with a
perv...
Annie B: Love he has federal
charges. The federal courts don’t
mess around and im sure in a federal prison he will be passed around.
Bill F: I hope this guy rots in hell
if he is convicted. He can say good
by high paying federal job with excellent benefits.
Todd M: Sounds like he needs
to be taken on a hunting trip!!
Shaina B: He also looks like he
could b one of those people that
may b hiding a dead body n his
basement JS! Lol creepy!!!
Mary C: Of all the things to spy
on, and he spies on that? Sounds
like he was targeting people to
me.... Creepy creepy stuff...
Carolyn H: Doesn’t deserve
bond
Heather G: Letting people out
on bond is so scary and in this case
disgusting. It’s basically letting him
free to hide and destroy as much
evidence as he can...
Mariette W: Yeah...there is an
idea...lets put a man that has pedophilia images on his computer and
a sick mind back in the public while
he waits for a prison sentence...just
to give him a chance to act on his
feelings before it is too late. Making
sense to you? No, me neither
Jana S: He did this at the navy
base to my mom and great aunt
who work there so everyone who
is saying “my hero and that’s sexy”
are sick. He did this for months.
How would you like it if some perv
was looking at your mom or aunt?
Tuff H: They need to send him
down to boggy bottom.. Let us have
about 30 mins with him I can guarantee he won’t do it again
Mary S: Lovely..gets off on
women using the restroom. Like we
don’t look for cameras these days!!!
Jeez, you can’t get away with that
anymore weirdo!
Belinda M: Considering this
same thing happened close to my
home of a store manager setting
up a hidden camara in the dollar
general bathroom I am very skeptical to use public restrooms !!! This
jackass don’t need to be out with
society wow talk about rewarding
him for his behavior
Sherri C: Creeper. That is just
gross. Why would he get his jollies
watching people pee? Weirdo.
Aundria F: Sad on so many
levels..it happened and will continue to happen. So much for the
law “protecting” us! By releasing
him they have put so many more in
danger of being violated. He is a sick
sick man.
Brian M: Dude! I have walked
into the bathroom AFTER a woman
has used it, and based on that over
stimulating sensory horror I would
NOT ever want to see the events
leading up to that.
HIDDEN CAMERAS IN WOMEN’S RESTROOM
A McAlester man was arrested and faces federal and state
charges after investigators say he put a hidden camera inside
the women’s restroom at the McAlester Army Ammunition
Plant.
Kenneth Elkins, 55, was an employee at the plant.
Elkins is charged with three counts of federal video voyeurism, two counts of recording/transmitting obscenity. The
state is also charging him with two counts of using electronic
equipment in clandestine manner.
Investigators say women were videotaped using the restroom at the plant between July and August. They say Elkins captured very revealing
pictures of least three of the women.
When investigators searched Elkins home they found child pornography on his
computer and evidence he was recording inside a 16-year-old relative’s room.
Elkins is out on bond.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A Bristow couple was taken into custody after police found illegal
items in their home during the execution of a search warrant.
According to the affidavit, Bristow police executed the search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of E. 10th Street on Dec. 18.
Shortly before arriving at the residence, police were informed that
the front door of the residence was blocked and no longer in use.
Due to that information, police knocked on the back door of the residence.
They made contact with two of the house’s residents, James Loy
Hampshire, 39, and Mindy Michelle Sharpe, 33. The third resident
was a minor.
While speaking to Hampshire and Sharpe, the police heard several
other subjects inside a camper trailer that was attached to the house.
After police spoke to everyone present on the property, they escorted
them to the back porch and asked for their cooperation in the location of illegal substances.
The residents denied knowledge of anything illegal. An officer and
a K9 were asked to come to the residence to assist.
When the K9 officer arrived, he took the dog inside the residence
and conducted a search for illegal items. The K9 alerted in several
rooms. Police found a large amount of marijuana and paraphernalia
in several rooms of the home. A wireless camera kit was also found
in one of the bedrooms.
Police transported Hampshire, Sharpe and the minor, who was
Sharpe’s son, to jail.
The minor denied selling marijuana, which is what a witness had told police before they
obtained the search warrant, but did admit that some of the marijuana and paraphernalia
found was his.
Sharpe admitted that the marijuana found in her bedroom was hers, but she denied selling
it.
Hampshire told police that he hadn’t used marijuana in about a month.
The residence was located near a city park.
Sharpe and Hampshire are both being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous
substance within 2,000 feet of a park, maintaining a place for keeping/ selling a controlled
dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia. They are being held on $26,000
bonds and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10, 2014.

A Crescent man was arrested after a concerned citizen called police after the man
was seen lying facedown on the grass outside of his residence.
According to the affidavit, a Crescent police officer was dispatched to the residence
on Dec. 24, to check on the man.
When he arrived, he saw the man, later
identified as Gary Donald Long, 62, lying
facedown in the icy grass.
The officer asked the man if he was OK and
if he needed any medical attention.
Long attempted to get on his hands and knees several times, but he
was unable to get up off of the grass.
He finally was able to get up while bracing himself on the side of
the house.
The officer asked him if he had taken anything that could affect his
lack of stability.
Long initially said no, but after the officer told him that he needed
to be honest with him, Long admitted that he had smoked K2 (synthetic marijuana).
The officer conducted a pat-down search of the man and found a
bag of K2 in his pocket.
The officer asked Long how long the K2 had been in his system.
Long said that he used a soda can to smoke the drug “through the
top.”
The officer searched the area where Long had been lying and found
an aluminum can with small holes in the top next to a lighter.
He placed long under arrest and transported him to jail.
Long is being charged with unlawful possession of a synthetic controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on Feb. 13, 2014.

FALSE DECLARATION OF

By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Well, winter is here! With this
most recent ice and snow storm
that gripped Oklahoma, there obviously were some significant
obstacles to safe driving. One that I have noticed, that doesn’t
really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is obstructed by
iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to touch
on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about it, and give
some tips to help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a
small hole scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the
road. Every time I see it, I cringe! The law that governs this is
Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which states: “No person
shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow,
ice, or frost upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side
or rear windows......which obstructs, obscures, or impairs the
driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or to either side or of any
intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday driver is
that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances
of an accident drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why
limit our vision to just a small hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both
mechanically and chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the
preferred method for as long as most people can remember. They
are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another method is simply to go
out 10 minutes before you leave and simply start your car up, and
get the defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good
to go! Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical deicing sprays that are available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water
on your windows, as the change in temperatures can cause your
window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and
rear widows. A significant percentage of accidents happen while
backing, so it stands to reason that we need to be able to see out
our back glass as well as the front. Side windows are no different,
no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when they
pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows,
go ahead and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and
sometimes money, but the time and money pale in comparison to
the impact on time and money that an accident will have on you, or
others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe it to yourself and your
fellow drivers! Thanks for reading, buckle up and be safe!

Police apprehended a Pryor couple as they were allegedly en route
to deliver a big black trash bag full of drugs to an inmate at Boley.
On Dec. 18, a Stroud police officer was on patrol when he observed
a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 99. The license plate
showed that it had expired in November 2013, the affidavit states.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the
driver, later identified as Keelan Therese Rybacki, 26. Rybacki acted
very nervous as she searched for her driver’s license and her hands
were shaking uncontrollably.
In the backseat of the car, the officer noticed a black trash bag.
Police asked Rybacki about the trash bag in the backseat, but she
said that the bag belonged to the passenger and she didn’t know
what was in it.
The passenger, John Joe C. Silva, 31, told police he didn’t know
what they were talking about. He repeatedly insisted that he didn’t
see the trash bag that was in the car.
Silva was acting nervous and wouldn’t keep his hands out of his
pockets, ignoring commands from police.
After an officer noticed a pocketknife clipped to Silva’s jeans, he
conducted a pat-down search of the man to check for other weapons. The officer found a baggy full of white pills that Silva said were
oxycodone. An officer again asked Silva what was in the black trash
bag in the car, and he said the bag wasn’t his. He was asked once
more and he finally told them that there was a half-pound of marijuana and six pounds of
tobacco in the bag.
Police placed Silva and Rybacki under arrest and opened the trash bag. They found three
bags that contained a green leafy substance that later field-tested positive for marijuana and
a small box that contained a crystal substance that later tested positive for meth.
Police also found more methamphetamine in a duffel bag in the car.
Once at the jail, Rybacki gave police a baggy of meth that was in her bra. She also said that
they had been driving to Boley to deliver drugs to an inmate.
Both Silva and Rybacki are being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, maintain vehicle where a controlled dangerous substance
is kept and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects are being held on a
$50,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6, 2014.
