NOT A HERO
A Stillwater man is facing several felony charges
for some very serious crimes after investigators discovered he was using an app depicting child sexual
abuse material.
Alexander Micheal Stephenson, 28, was charged
May 18 for possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and violation of computer crimes act in Payne County District Court.
According to a press release by the Stillwater Police Department, on May 11, an arrest warrant was issued for Stephenson for Possession of Child Pornography and Distribution of Child Pornography. Stephenson was arrested on his warrant
in El Paso, Texas, and had an arraignment hearing in Payne County on Thursday, May
18. Stephenson was set to deploy with the Oklahoma National Guard to Africa prior
to his arrest.
Stillwater Police Department Detective Wheeler received a cyber tip on September
29, 2022, from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). The
cyber tip received from NCMEC indicated a suspect using social media app Kik uploaded/shared apparent child sexual abuse material.
Detective Wheeler, member of the Criminal Investigations Unit and cross-commissioned member of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes
Against Children Task Force (ICAC), began a thorough investigation to identify the
suspect.
Detective Wheeler worked alongside investigators with the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division to secure the identity and arrest of Stephenson.
Bond for Stephenson was set at $100,000 and he pleaded not guilty at his preliminary hearing.

AROUND THE STATE
I WANNA ROCK!
Two suspects arrested after claiming they inherited the guitar.
On May 9, we received a report about a burglary from a car where a guitar, amp, and other
sound equipment were stolen from a vehicle near
81st and Yale in Tulsa.
On May 10 around 6:00 p.m., Officers were
called out to a guitar store near 71st and Mingo.
The store reported that two men, identified as
Scott Hill and Matthew Prior, brought the stolen
equipment to the store and tried to sell them.
The store employees recognized the equipment
from social media posts. Employees also said the
two suspects appeared to have little to no knowledge about the items they were selling or their value. The employees at the store were dialed into
the local music world and immediately recognized the stolen equipment from a
social media post. It was also apparent that the two suspects weren’t musicians
and had no idea of the value of the equipment nor what it was they were actually
trying to sell.
The two suspects told employees they inherited the guitar and equipment.
They later changed their story and told Officers they received the property from
someone else in exchange for a debt being paid.
The victim was contacted and his equipment was returned. The recovered
property has a total value of around $3200.
Scott Hill and Matthew Prior were both arrested for Knowingly Concealing
Stolen Property. The burglary from vehicle is still under investigation.

A Elk City woman was charged with arson after lighting up motel last month.
Elk City woman Fallon Tia Borzea, 40, allegedly set the Kings Inn motel on fire April 21.
According to reports, she was caught on
film at the scene of the crime earlier that morning. The surveillance footage
showed her walking from a room at the motel shortly before 1:30 a.m.
She then walked to some dumpsters close to Third Street. Shortly after, a
fire was caught on film as she walked away from the area and headed toward
the motel’s laundry room.
After a visit to the laundry room, Borzea went back to her room. There was
smoke coming from the laundry room.
When officers arrested the woman later that afternoon at her home in the
900 block of West Second Street, she admitted that she had burned some
papers in the dumpster.
Borzea is being charged with arson in the first degree. Her bond was set at
$100,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on July 10, 2023.

A Sapulpa couple was put behind bars after police
officers found a bruised and malnourished 11-year-old
hiding behind a dumpster at a gas station.
Police arrested the boy’s mother, 35-year-old Stephanie Fay Denton, and his stepfather, 37-year-old Shawn
Thomas Deatherage on May 23.
According to reports, a Sapulpa police officer found
the child behind the dumpster at approximately 2 a.m.
The boy was only wearing a pair of shorts - he didn’t
have a shirt or any shoes on. The boy was very skinny and weighed a mere 58 pounds. He had multiple
bruises, including a black eye, and scars from what appeared to be cigarette burns on his body.
Denton filed a missing persons report when she discovered the boy wasn’t home when it was time for him
to get ready for school.
When officers asked her about the boy’s injuries,
Denton said he had the scars from rubbing his arms
on the carpet. She didn’t know how he got the bruises.
She allowed police officers to search her home. Officers found Deatherage smoking a cigarette in the garage.
Reports state that in the boy’s bedroom, there was just a mattress with a sheet, blanket, and pillow. There were no doorknobs.
Officers also saw a magnetic plate drilled into the crown molding, possibly to mount a
surveillance camera. They later found a surveillance camera on the couple’s bed with a
magnetic backing.
When investigators talked to the boy, he said he had to stay in his bedroom and sleep
in his closet. He also had to pee into a two-liter bottle.
Investigators also determined that his injuries were from his stepfather punching him
and burning him with cigarettes. The child also had carpet burns on his body from Deatherage dragging him across the carpet.
Both Denton and Deatherage are being charged with cause/procure/permit injury or
sex abuse and child neglect. They are both scheduled to appear in court on June 21,
2023. DANNY

TOO FAST FOR THE
FESTIVAL
A 21-year-old from Denton, Texas, was arrested in
Prague after he led an officer on a high-speed pursuit
on May 5.
According to the affidavit, a Prague officer was
parked near the intersection of Highway 62 and
Babek Avenue monitoring traffic for the Kolache Festival. Around 10 p.m., he saw a red car drive by. The
driver was tapping the accelerator and making loud engine noises while speeding up
and slowing down.
The driver then sped past the officer, driving 40 mph in a 30 mph zone.
The officer tried to stop the driver, but the driver accelerated and drove through a
red light at the intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 99.
The driver then took off heading north on Highway 99, reaching speeds in excess
of 100 mph with no headlights or taillights. He also began passing other motorists in
a no passing zone.
The driver, identified as Sam Lee Wheeler, eventually pulled over onto the side of
the highway at E 1025 Road.
The officer told the driver to turn off the vehicle and drop the keys out of the window.
Wheeler complied.
The officer placed him under arrest. A passenger was released at the scene.
Wheeler is being charged with aggravated eluding of a police officer. His bond was
set at $3,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 20, 2023.

BEYOND SKIN DEEP
