A husband
and wife team
of Glencoe residents can add
a felony theft
charge to their
rap sheets as
of Aug. 17.
Payne
County sheriff’s deputy
Brandon Myers was called
to a home on the 8500 block of Ripley Road. The caller said her home
and outbuildings burned in the recent wildfires, adding that she was
cleaning the area with some friends and noticed some missing items.
The woman said someone stole three mowers. One was brokendown, one worked properly and another was used for parts, she said.
Myers then discovered a white Chevrolet Blazer was hauling burned
items in the area. The officer then received a call from 108 Recyclers,
who reported the Blazer and items. While Myers was at the recycling
area, Tylor Brown, 19, and Jenna Clinton Brown, 18, showed up to
get money on the stolen goods.
Tylor first said he got the lawn mowers from his parents’ burn pit
in Glencoe, but his companion sung like a canary under the Miranda
warning and admitted the two stole the mowers. The owner of the
stolen items identified them as hers, according to the affidavit.
Tylor admitted to stealing the mowers but did not elaborate on
how, Myers said.
Both were transported to county jail. Tylor posted a $5,000 bond
and his wife posted a $1,000 bond.
Tylor will appear in court at 1:45 p.m. Sept. 21. Jenna has a court
date set for 1:45 p.m. Sept. 26.

Three Stillwater natives face grand larceny charges after attempting to steal more
than $2,000 of merchandise from a local retail store.
Stillwater police officer Newly McSpadden
received a dispatch from the Walmart on
6th, where he spoke with an asset protection
manager. The employee was walking next to
Kristin McEachern, 32, who helped in the
thefts, she said.
Also, a tan SUV with Xavier Martin, 25,
as the driver and Jobea McEachern, 27, as
the passenger, stole items and made off in a
tan getaway van. McSpadden pulled the pair
over at the intersection of 9th and Country
Club Road and put both in investigative detention.
The employee identified Martin and Kristin as stealing two televisions and various
other electronics from Walmart. The tag of
the getaway van matched the one provided
by the manager, according to the affidavit.
The women stole the merchandise and
loaded it in the van with Martin’s assistance,
earning the group a one-way ticket to county
lockup.
Martin and Jobea posted $2,500 bonds
each Aug. 23. Kristen posted a $10,000
bond the next day.
If convicted, each faces up to five years in
prison.
Kristin pleaded guilty to felony larceny in
Oklahoma County court in Oct. 2003. She
received a two-year deferred sentence.
Martin and Jobea will appear in court at
1:45 p.m. Sept. 27. Kristin will appear at 1:45 p.m. Sept. 5.

PUBLIC DRUNK
By Lt. Jeff James
Oklahoma Highway Patrol
As the summer heat rages on,
and rain seems to be a distant
memory for much of the state, fires
are becoming an everyday occurrence across Oklahoma. Many of
these could be prevented, and this month I’ll talk about a few ways to
cut down on the possibility of inadvertently starting a fire that may
destroy lives and property.
One of the things Trooper’s see almost every day is the cigarette toss
out the window. For some reason, people don’t want to extinguish
their cigarettes and put them in an ashtray in their car; they just flick
them out the window. What you are saying when you do that is, you
don’t care about the people in that area, or their property. Every time
you throw one of those out, you take a chance of starting a fire that
can devastate a community. If you smoke, use an ashtray or some
type of container in your car to keep your butts in, don’t throw it
out. If a Trooper sees you throw one out, expect the very expensive
citation that comes with that charge!
Another thing that has started fires are things like safety chains on
trailers being too long, and dragging on the pavement. This causes
sparks, which is all it takes to get our drought-stricken grass to burn.
Also, keep bearings greased, as a seized bearing has been known to
spark and cause fires. Be careful driving a car through tall grass, as
the catalytic converter on cars gets hot enough to catch grass on fire.
OBEY THE BURN BAN! Yes, this means you! No reason that you
can justify burning trash, brush piles, having a campfire, or open
grill will be adequate to the people who lose a home when it gets
out of control. If you are violating a burn ban, you are telling your
neighbors that you just don’t care about them or their property.
Also, be alert and aware of what is going on around you. Arson is
certainly a cause of several wildfires across our state. Alert motorists
can help catch an arsonist before they do too much damage, but only
if you are a good witness. Try to get a good description of the person,
their vehicle, a tag if possible, clothing they are wearing, etc, and try
to get that info to law enforcement as soon as you can! You could be
the difference between someone losing a home or just having a close
call.
Lastly, go and thank a firefighter or law enforcement officer for
the work they have been doing recently. These men and women
are battling every day to save lives and property, and getting people
out of harm’s way, in extreme conditions. I know that many of you
donate water and food, and on behalf of all of us in the Emergency
Response community, we thank you for that! Thanks for reading,
buckle up, and be safe!
Tips from a Trooper

unsolved cases
Fifteen years ago, on July 26, 1997, 19-year-old
Tiff any Johnston was abducted from the Sunshine
Car Wash at 7709 N. W. 23rd in Bethany. Her
vehicle was found abandoned at the car wash. Her
body was found the next day on Gregory Road in
Canadian County two-tenths of a mile south of
Interstate 40.
Bethany Police Department requested OSBI assist with the
homicide investigation. The medical examiner’s offi ce ruled the
Bethany resident died of strangulation.
OSBI agents and Bethany detectives have conducted numerous
interviews concerning the disappearance and murder of Johnston.
In late 2005, the case became inactive with no more leads to follow.

Drugs and alcohol continue to be
big issues around
the world. While
the Bible doesn’t
say much about
cocaine, heroin or
marijuana, we can
assume that drugs
are not a good
choice for anyone.
The Bible does talk
about alcohol and
has some pretty
clear thoughts about it. Let me just say this as a side
note. If you live in a country that has an age limit for
alcohol consumption, you need to abide by the laws of
your country. Thus, any alcohol consumption for anyone
underage is breaking the law. This is black and white.
Where it gets gray is when you become of age and have
to make choices about alcohol. Read the following passages of scripture. Listen to the Spirit of God in you and
begin today to decide how you are going to navigate the
world of alcohol.
Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your
life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, (Ephesians
5:18 NLT)

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A Logan County couple faces drug charges after
a family outing at the lake Aug. 8.
Guthrie police officer Anthony Gibbs was patrolling the Liberty Lake park area near a local boat
ramp. Gibbs reported seeing Anthony Ramage, 43,
Linda Glisson, 41 and a nine-year-old child near
the water.
A box of beer and empty beer cans surrounded
the pair, Gibbs said. The child was also in the lake
without a life jacket, prompting Gibbs to confront
the pair.
When he spoke with Ramage, the man was slurring his words and had extremely small pupils.
When Gibbs said alcohol was not allowed in the
area, Ramage started digging a hole in the sand to
pour his beer into, according to the affidavit. Gibbs
said he did not understand Ramage’s “strange” behavior.
Gibbs told Glisson he believed Ramage was
drunk and high, so he asked to search their car.
Glisson gave permission, but she started acting
nervous after she pulled something out of her purse and tried to shove it
down her swimsuit bottoms, Gibbs said.
Knowing she likely had drugs on her, Gibbs asked to see her hand, but
the woman refused. Eventually, the officer placed her on the hood of her
car, where she put a bag of white tablets on the grill.
Inside the bag were eight hydrocodone tablets, the affidavit says. Gibbs
then arrested Ramage and Glisson for public intoxication and possession
of controlled substances, respectively. Glisson then told her companion
that she “had been arrested for having Lortabs”, which upset the child
after he heard the news.
When Ramage was at the Guthrie Police Department, he started speaking in constantly changing accents from British to southern American,
was extremely energetic and kept asking, “Would you be able to blow
me?” to everyone in the room.
Glisson was booked at the county jail, where she was later released.
She has a court appearance set for 2 p.m. Sept. 27. Ramage will show up
in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 13.

A Stroud man wanted on an outstanding warrant piled more
charges on himself after he fled from police and nearly ran
over an officer.
Joshua Lane Gordon, 22, was charged with battery with a
dangerous weapon, endangering others while eluding police,
and use of a motor vehicle without required ignition interlock
device in Lincoln County District Court August 23.
According to the police affidavit, an off-duty reserve officer called Stroud Police Officer Jimmie Ahrend and told him
that he spotted Gordon, who he knew to have an outstanding
warrant, traveling in his pickup eastbound on West 7th Street
along the turnpike. He also saw Gordon driving recklessly and
all over the road.
Ahrend found the truck soon after and tried to initiate a traffic stop. Gordon accelerated for short while, but his girlfriend was in the truck with him, so
he pulled over, let her out, and the chase began.
Ahrend called for backup as Gordon reached speeds of almost 100 mph in town. He zigzagged around the business district and headed for Highway 99, weaving in and out of traffic. One time, Ahrend thought Gordon was going to smash into the back of a semi, but at
the last second he went around it. Gordon blew through stop signs and the intersection of
Highway 66 and 99.
Gordon finally got off the main highway and turned onto Key West Rd. On the dirt road
Ahrend had to slow down because of all the flying dust and rocks. At one point, Ahrend
had Gordon blocked in at the end of a dead-end road, but Gordon, like a trapped animal,
charged the officer with his truck, nearly running over him. Ahrend had his gun drawn and
shot out the front and back driver’s side tires of Gordon’s truck. Gordon kept going and
ditched his truck a short distance away. He slipped under a barbed-wire fence and was gone.
A couple of hours later, Gordon grew a brain and turned himself in to officers without any
further incident.
Gordon has been charged three times in the last two years with DUI- two for alcohol and
one time for drugs. The warrant he was running from was from a DUI charge filed August 8,
of which he was a no-show.

A Chandler woman at the county jail will probably get more
time tacked on her visit after she fought with a detention officer
and lost.
Danielle Sutton, 18, was charged with assault and battery upon
a corrections officer August 3 in Lincoln County District Court.
According to the police affidavit, Detention Officer Lavina Vandusen was returning the female inmates to the women’s unit
from kitchen detail at the Lincoln County Jail when she noticed
Sutton on another inmate’s bunk. Sutton was asked to get off the
bunk, but she didn’t respond, even after being told about eight
times to move. Vandusen shook Sutton’s shoulder two or three
times to get her attention so she would move, but she still refused
to get off the bunk.
Vandusen then took Sutton by the sleeve and forced her up into
a sitting position, but she still refused to move off the bunk. The officer pulled her up again,
but Sutton just moved to the next bunk, which was not hers. When the inmate asked Sutton
to move from her bunk, Vandusen lifted Sutton up by the arm and pointed her to her bunk.
Sutton suddenly got a second wind and began fighting with the officer. Vandusen grabbed
Sutton’s right hand to try and keep Sutton from hitting her. The two struggled for a few
seconds until Sutton waylaid Vandusen on the nose. Vandusen yelled for help and when Sergeant Joshua Darty arrived, he placed Sutton in handcuffs and escorted her to the control
area of the jail. She was placed in the restraint chair until she calmed down.
Sutton’s bond was set at $15,000.
