LIFE SENTENCE
A Pottawatomie County man was sentenced to
life in prison last month for soliciting and distributing child pornography.
On March 7, 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a
cybertip regarding suspected child sexual abuse
material. That information was then provided to
the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
OSBI ICAC special agents began their comprehensive investigation and identified the online suspect as 24-year-old Chance Ballard. On December 19, 2023,
a search warrant was conducted at Ballard’s residence in Shawnee. Ballard was
interviewed and admitted to downloading and possessing child pornography
on multiple online accounts, as well as selling child pornography. During the
investigation, it was also determined that Ballard previously had physical contact
with a victim.
Ballard was arrested and booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail on
charges of Distribution of Obscene Material, Aggravated Possession of Child
Pornography, First-Degree Rape, Soliciting Sexual Conduct or Communication
with a Minor by Use of Technology, and Pattern of Criminal Offenses.
Ballard pled guilty to the alleged charges and on August 7, 2024, was sentenced to life in prison by the Pottawatomie County District Court, with additional
terms of imprisonment to run concurrently with the life sentence.

AROUND THE NATION
A 39-year-old is charged with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant, following an officer-involved shooting in East Lubbock.
Lubbock Police were called to the 300 block of
East 37th Street at 9:00 a.m. on August 11th for
a report of a domestic disturbance. Initial information conveyed to dispatch indicated Eliseo Padilla
III was armed with a gun and had destroyed property at the residence.
The responding officer arrived on scene at 9:07 a.m. and found Padilla in front
of the house. Padilla, who was verbally combative, ignored multiple instructions
by the officer to place his hands on a nearby vehicle in order for the officer to pat
him down. After giving multiple commands, and with the knowledge Padilla was
armed with a weapon, the officer deployed less lethal force with his department
issued Taser. Despite the deployment of the Taser, Padilla produced a firearm
and began shooting at the responding officer. In response, the officer drew his
duty weapon and returned fire at Padilla at 9:09 a.m.
The responding officer, who suffered no injuries, immediately notified dispatch
shots were fired and requested EMS. Additional officers arrived on scene and
began dispensing life-saving measures in order to treat Padilla. Upon arrival, EMS transported Padilla to University Medical Center via ambulance with
life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is currently underway by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special
Crimes Unit, LPD’s Office of Professional
Standards and LPD’s forensic unit.
The officer who fired at Padilla was
employed by the Lubbock Police Department beginning in January of 2015.
He is currently on routine administrative
leave per department policy.
Padilla, who remains in critical condition at UMC, was served a warrant for
Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant. His bond is $300,000.

AROUND THE STATE
On August 4, around 3:50 p.m., Officers were
called out to a burglary at Kultivation Kingz near
Pine and 169 in Tulsa. When Officers arrived, they
found the business had been burglarized and a
large amount of marijuana was stolen.
The owners of the business reported they had
multiple tracking devices inside some of the stolen product.
Officers tracked down some of the stolen goods
at a home near Edison and Gilcrease Museum
Road. When Officers arrived, several individuals were seen unloading plastic
tubs full of marijuana from a U-Haul truck. When the individuals spotted the Officers, they took off running.
At the home, Officers recovered 283 lbs. of marijuana, believed to all be stolen,
a Glock pistol, and $13,000 in counterfeit $20 bills.
Kym Mayberry was arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary, Trafficking Marijuana,
and Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
At this time, we know that the stolen marijuana came from at least four dispensaries that were burglarized. One of the dispensaries was able to recover more
than $50,000 in product after the bust.
Detectives are continuing to investigate this case. Anyone with information
about potential suspects related to the burglaries is asked to call Tulsa Crime
Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. You can remain anonymous when calling.
Please reference case 2024-039644.
FYI, please do not contact us and tell us you’ve recently lost 283 pounds of
marijuana and can identify it in person. TPD
We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

UNFAVORABLE
FAVORS
A Wetumka man is facing felony charges after he allegedly solicited sexual favors from what he thought was
an minor boy.
According to District Attorney Erik Johnson, on August
19, Willis Wayne McGarrah, 75, of Wetumka, was taken
into custody by the District 22 Drug and Violent Crimes
Task Force on felony charges related to the solicitation of
sexual conduct and engaging in sexual communication
with a person believed to be a minor and indecent proposals to a minor.
The investigation into McGarrah began on June 26, 2024, when the Wetumka Police Department responded to a report from the Oklahoma Predator Prevention Group. This organization uses decoy accounts posing as minors on various social media platforms to detect and
confront individuals engaging in inappropriate and illegal activities involving minors.
Upon receiving the report, the Wetumka Police Department sought assistance from the District 22 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force. The task force executed multiple search warrants
on McGarrah’s social media accounts and seized evidence that confirmed the accusations
made by the Oklahoma Predator Prevention Group.
During an interview with District 22 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force Agents, McGarrah
admitted to communicating with someone he believed to be a minor. He also confessed to
requesting and sending explicit images to the individual he thought was a 15-year-old boy.
McGarrah was apprehended in Seminole, on August 19, with the assistance of the Seminole
Police Department. He is currently being held at the Seminole County Detention Center on a
$100,000 bond on felony charges of Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Proposals to a Minor.
District Attorney Erik Johnson expressed his gratitude to the Oklahoma Predator Prevention
Group and to the local law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
“I want to thank the District 22 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, the Wetumka Police
Department, and the Seminole Police Department for their dedicated work on this case,” said
District Attorney Johnson. “Their commitment to protecting our community and ensuring the
safety of our children is deeply appreciated.”

CLEANING UP
WEWOKA
A Wewoka man, who had admittedly been selling
drugs out of his home for years, was busted August 15
after a sting operation by multiple agencies.
District 22 District Attorney Erik Johnson announced
a successful operation executed by the District 22
Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, with vital support
from the Wewoka Police Department and the Seminole
Nation Lighthorse Police. The collective agencies successfully executed a narcotics search warrant on August 15, at 1304 South Okfuskee
Avenue in Wewoka.
During the search, agents discovered and seized methamphetamine, as well as scales,
baggies, and other items commonly used in the distribution of narcotics. During an interview agents obtained a full confession from Raymond Lester Madron Jr., who stated he
had been distributing methamphetamine from his residence for years.
Raymond Lester Madron Jr. faces pending charges of Distribution of a Controlled and
Dangerous Substance and Possessing with Intent to Distribute a Controlled and Dangerous Substance near a School, due to the proximity of his residence to Wewoka High
School, which is within 2,000 feet of the residence.
District Attorney Erik Johnson expressed gratitude for the effective collaboration among
the involved agencies, stating, “The successful outcome of today’s operation highlights
the strength of our partnerships and the dedication of our law enforcement agencies.
Removing another drug dealer from our streets is a significant step towards safeguarding
our community. I commend the efforts of the District 22 Drug and Violent Crimes Task
Force, Wewoka Police Department, and Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police Department

DRUG DISCOVERY
Drugs and stolen items were discovered after
police were called to a home in Ada on a domestic situation.
According to District Attorney Erik Johnson,
on August 12, the District 22 Drug and Violent
Crimes Task Force, with the assistance of the Ada
Police Department, executed a narcotics search
warrant at 2405 E. Timber Terrace in Ada.
The Ada Police Department initially responded to the residence for a domestic
violence incident, which eventually led them to suspect the presence of narcotics at the location.
Investigators then requested the assistance of Agents with the District 22 Drug
and Violent Crimes Task Force to secure a search warrant for the residence.
During the search, law enforcement officials seized cocaine, scales, baggies,
and other items associated with narcotic distribution. Additionally, several items
reported stolen in the Ada area were found, along with a ledger documenting
these stolen goods.
Jeffrey Tyler Crosby has been booked into the Pontotoc County Justice Center on charges of Domestic Violence-Kidnapping, Distribution of a Controlled
Dangerous Substance, and Possession of Stolen Property. Additional charges
are expected as the investigation progresses.
District Attorney Erik Johnson expressed his appreciation for the Ada Police
Department’s vital assistance and collaborative efforts in this case, stating, “This
successful operation highlights the critical importance of teamwork between
agencies in addressing drug and violent crime issues. Our collective efforts ensure that justice is served and our community remains safer.”

THAT'S METHED UP!
In today’s episode of “Methed Up” we discuss
once again that if you do meth and run from the
law you will end up exactly like this!! Apparently,
David Helms didn’t get the memo though so he
“Methed Up” and learned pretty quick what happens when you have drugs on you and try to run from Deputies in Brevard
County (Florida)!!
Helms, who by the way could play John Goodman’s stunt double in the movie
“John Goodman Goes Back To High School,” fell asleep at the wheel of his truck
while sitting at the gas pumps at the Merritt Island 7-11 for about an hour, so the
store clerk called to report the suspicious activity!!
After the store clerk called the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies Alec Brannon and
Matthew McCarley arrived on scene and made contact with Helms who exited
the vehicle and took off running on foot!! While I’m pretty sure even “Junny”
could have ran him down, Deputies Brannon and McCarly ran him down themselves and tackled him for fleeing from the traffic stop!! Of course, the real reason Helms was running was because he had a bag of meth and a glass pipe in
his pocket and knew that he was just seconds away from taking the ride to jail!!
My favorite part of this story though is that once he was in cuffs, Helm started
screaming and whining like a little baby and continued to be non-compliant, so
he got handcuffed to the stretcher and transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital
where he was medically cleared for priority check-in at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge,
aka jail!!
Helms subsequently got booked into the Brevard County Jail on a total bond
of $4,000 for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting Arrest Without Violence. Of
course Helms also got a free “I Messed Around
And Found Out In Brevard County” T-Shirt so he
can show all his friends that he “Methed Up!!”
