A Shawnee woman was arrested in March 6 for allegedly
using a coworker’s personal information to sign up for student loans.
An agent with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services was advised through documents, reports and statements from witnesses that 56-year-old Brenda Reene Mcalister was up to some illegal acts while employed at DHS as a
child welfare caseworker.
The illegal acts occurred while she was at work with
equipment provided to her to perform her job -- not to break the law and commit crimes.
According to the affidavit, Mcalister used her work computer to apply for a
fraudulent student loan with personal information she stole from a former coworker.
Mcalister signed the unsuspecting coworker up as the co-signer on the student
loan.
Apparently, she needed the coworker’s information to ensure that the student
loan would be approved. There was just one big problem -- The woman whose
information Mcalister used said she wasn’t aware of the application, and she
never gave Mcalister permission to use her information.
The amount of the loan the woman applied for was $5,000.
Mcalister was placed under arrest for the crime and taken to jail.
Mcalister is being charged with violation of computer crimes act and identify
theft use of personal information. She was released on a $10,000 bond.

theft of 1,121 head of Holstein/
Jersey cross steer calves from a
Braum’s dairy farm in Follett,
Texas.
Employees at Braum’s Farms
noticed the steer calves, weighing from 300 to 750 pounds, were missing after doing
their 2014 yearly inventory. The dairy farm is located on the border of Lipscomb County,
Texas and Ellis County, Okla.

A cash reward of $10,000 may be paid to individuals who can provide useful

On March 6, 1969, the first woman placed on
the FBI's Most Wanted list goes before an Oklahoma City judge after her true identity is discovered a day earlier by OSBI fingerprint specialists.
Ruth Eisemann-Schier was wanted for her
role in the kidnapping of Barbara Mackle from
an Atlanta, GA, motel December 17, 1968.
Schier was using an assumed name when
picked up at a Norman drive-in restaurant several months later where she worked as a car
hop. Schier was living under the name Donna
Willis when she applied for a job at the Central
State Hospital in Norman. As stated in an article printed by The Daily Oklahoman,
“As a routine procedure, she was fingerprinted and her fingerprints were sent
to the crime bureau for a check against criminal records. They were received
Tuesday night. Mrs. Jean Price, a fingerprint technician at the crime bureau two
years, noticed Wednesday morning that the prints matched those of Ruth Eisemann-Schier.”
FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover sent a letter of appreciation to the OSBI applauding the efficient work and cooperation with the FBI by OSBI Bureau Chief Carl
Tyler; Chief Agent Tom Puckett; Paul Boyd, head of the identification division;
and Mrs. Jean Price.

An Okemah woman didn’t have far to go
jail after she threatened courthouse employees with a knife and a metal pole.
Amber Johnson, 19, was charged March
19 with seven counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of public intoxication, and one count of unlawfully carrying
weapons, in Okfuskee County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit,
on March 12, Undersheriff Charles Starkey
was called to the County Clerk’s office on the 3rd floor about a person
armed with a knife and a metal pole. He made his way from the 1st
floor Sheriff’s office to the 3rd floor and saw Johnson holding a knife
and “some type of long, metallic pole.” He immediately drew his service
weapon and told Johnson to drop the items and lay on the floor.
Johnson allegedly took an offensive posture. Starkey said that he believed that if he had gotten closer, she would have stabbed him.
Starkey repeated his commands and added that if she didn’t drop the
weapons, he would shoot her. She then began to walk backwards into an
office. Fearing she would harm the secretaries in the office, he advanced
toward the office. He again warned her to drop the weapons.
Johnson wisely heeded the warning that time and dropped the knife
and pole. She then ran behind a counter. Starkey then holstered his
weapon and took Johnson into custody.
Johnson was escorted to the 5th floor jail and booked. She admitted
she was intoxicated on cocaine.
Bond was set at $25,000.

Seminole man Nathan Riley Winlock, 29, flipped
off a cop during a police chase in the early morning
hours of March 2. He then ended up in the backseat
of that cop’s car.
According to the police report, a Seminole police
officer was at the intersection of EW 1210 and NS
3570 when he saw a red SUV speeding down NS
3570 at approximately 1:35 a.m. The SUV then ran
a stop sign and continued speeding down the icy
roads on EW 1210.
The officer turned on his emergency lights and
pursued the vehicle, which continued to gain speed
as it crossed US 377. The suspect vehicle also ran
a couple more stop signs. The vehicle then came to a quick stop, and three
people jumped out and took off running.
The driver of the vehicle took off again, but he hit an icy patch and lost control, spinning to face the patrol unit. The driver, who the officer recognized as
Winlock, tried to drive away, but he became stuck in a ditch.
Winlock was on his cellphone and smoking a cigarette during the accident.
He also “gave [the officer] an obscene gesture with his left hand middle finger.”
The officer ordered him out of the vehicle at gunpoint. He then placed him
under arrest and took him to jail.
The man is being charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police officer. He was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled
to appear in court on April 2, 2015.

With this most recent ice and snow storm that
gripped Oklahoma, there obviously were some
significant obstacles to safe driving. One that
I have noticed, that doesn’t really get a lot of attention, is the visibility that is
obstructed by iced over windshields and windows on vehicles. I’m going to touch
on some of that, to try to raise some awareness about it, and give some tips to
help us stay safe.
We’ve all seen it...a vehicle coming down the road with just a small hole
scraped in the windshield so the driver could see the road. Every time I see it, I
cringe! The law that governs this is Oklahoma State Statute 47:12-404.C, which
states: “No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, other nontransparent material, or debris, including but not limited to snow, ice, or frost
upon the front windshield or the side wings, or side or rear windows......which
obstructs, obscures, or impairs the driver’s clear view of the highway ahead or
to either side or of any intersecting highway.” What this means to the everyday
driver is that the little hole you scraped to drive by, just won’t cut it! While
compliance is the goal, the reason is safety! Obviously the chances of an accident
drastically increase as visibility decreases...so why limit our vision to just a small
hole out the front windshield?
There are several ways to clear those windshields, both mechanically and
chemically. A simple ice scraper has been the preferred method for as long as
most people can remember. They are inexpensive, and easy to find. Another
method is simply to go out 10 minutes before you leave, start your car up,
and get the defroster going! When the windows are clear, you are good to go.
Still another way is to obtain any number of chemical de-icing sprays that are
available at most stores. Don’t pour hot water on your windows, as the change in
temperatures can cause your window to crack or break!
While we are talking about it, lets not forget about those side and rear widows. A
significant percentage of accidents happen while backing, so it stands to reason
that we need to be able to see out our back glass as well as the front. Side windows
are no different, no one wants to be struck by a vehicle they couldn’t see when
they pull into an intersection. After you finish with those side windows, go ahead
and hit those side mirrors as well!
All of these suggestions simply take a little extra time, and sometimes money,
but the time and money pale in comparison to the impact on time and money
that an accident will have on you, or others. As a safe, courteous driver, you owe

Overnight on March 3, the Sallisaw Police Department requested
OSBI agents assist with a homicide case.
Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to a call of a woman
deceased in her car in the area of 800 Ruth Street. Officers found
Karen Gregg, 56, dead inside her vehicle with what appeared to be a
gunshot wound to the head.
A witness driving by the area saw a man standing outside the
vehicle and then heard a loud pop the witness believed was a gunshot. That witness was able to give officers a description of the man.
Agents and officers recovered several items of evidence at the
crime scene which linked back to Gregg’s son, Jessie Mosby, 35, as
did the eyewitness description. Investigators located Mosby at the home he shared with his
mother for the past several months.
Evidence located in the room where he was found relate back to the murder weapon. The
possible murder weapon was found that morning in a yard on Druery Lane.
Mosby was arrested for the first degree murder of his mother and booked into the Sequoyah County jail.

Two Okemah men were taken to jail March 11 after a Wetumka officer caught them suspiciously hanging around a bank
shortly after 9 p.m.
According to the affidavit, the officer was patrolling west on
East Highway 9 when he saw a dark colored vehicle parked in
the parking lot of a bank. A man was standing near the driver’s
side window.
The officer went to see what was going on. The driver of the
dark colored car exited the vehicle and identified himself as
Donald Dewayne Smith, 39. The man standing by the car was
identified as Wes Albert Smith, 47.
The officer checked their information, and dispatch advised
Donald Smith had warrants out of Okfuskee County.
Wes Smith told the officer the vehicle was his. While speaking to the man, the officer saw something fall from his right hand that looked like a piece of
white plastic.
Donald Smith asked the officer if he could get a cigarette out of the car. The officer asked
to see the cigarette pack -- he saw a small plastic bag in the bottom of the pack. The bag
contained a large rock crystalline substance that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The officer detained the men and placed them in handcuffs.
Donald Smith told him there was a light bulb under the passenger seat that belonged to
him. During an inventory of the vehicle, the officer also found a spoon with a white substance
that tested positive for meth.
The two men were transported to jail. At the jail, Wes Smith became combative with officers, and he bit an officer on the arm.
Donald Smith is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $7,500.

possession of drug paraphernalia and assault and battery upon a police officer. His bond was
set at $10,000. They are both scheduled to appear in court on March 24, 2015.

A 26-year old Cushing resident who flagged down police is probably wishing he hadn’t.
Thomas Plummer flagged down two Cushing police
officers as they made their rounds near 2nd and Steele
Street early March 15th morning.
The officers ran Plummer’s name and found that he
had four outstanding warrants in Payne County.
When they tried to arrest him, police say Plummer
raised his hands above his head as he backed away and
told them, “I gotta show you something.”
The officers grabbed Plummer’s arms and secured
them.
When asked what he wanted to show them, Plummer told the officers that he
had a gun in his jacket pocket.
A search revealed a loaded revolver containing three live 9mm rounds, a folding
knife with brass knuckles, and a homemade glass smoking pipe that contained a
chalky residue. The residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
The entire incident happened less than 500 feet from a park.
Plummer was arrested and taken to the Cushing Police Department, where he
was held on a complaint of possession of a controlled dangerous substance within
1000 feet of a park, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm
while in the commission of a felony, possession of metal knuckles, along with the
four outstanding Payne County warrants.

Ada woman April Lynn Landreth, 34, called police March
16 and told them that her brother had hit her. She was later
arrested after it was determined she was lying -- she was
supposed to be staying the heck away from her bro. Police
orders.
According to the affidavit, Landreth called the Pontotoc
County Sheriff’s Department multiple times and said her
brother hit her. With each call, there was a lot of screaming
and Landreth would hang up.
On the way to Landreth’s location on CR 1510, a deputy was advised deputies
had told Landreth to stay away from the residence or she would be arrested for
trespassing.
Landreth was placed under arrest almost immediately after deputies arrived.
Prior to her arrest, she was “very rude and aggressive” toward police.
The victims said Landreth kicked down their front door and broke a window.
They said they told her to stay away, but she just kept coming back, threatening
and cussing them.
A deputy noticed a concrete block next to the broken window. Landreth also
allegedly wrote “Bitches” and “F--- you” on the victims’ garage door.
The woman’s car was in the victims’ detached garage, and the victims advised
they wanted the vehicle removed. Inside the car, the victim saw his daughter’s
bluetooth sound bar that had recently gone missing.
Landreth is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property and
breaking and entering with unlawful intent. Her bond was set at $5,000, and she
is scheduled to appear in court on April 15, 2015.
