justice served
A Shawnee man will spend the rest of his
life behind bars after he pleaded guilty to 12
felony charges in a child sexual abuse and
pornography case on March 2.
Reports state that the abuse occurred on
or between January 8, 2015, and January 10,
2017.
30-year-old David Daniel Shoopman initially
pleaded not guilty to the charges of sexual
abuse to a child under 12, manufacturing
child pornography, and possession of child
pornography, but he later changed his plea
to guilty.
The investigation into the man’s offenses
started on January 8, 2017, according to reports. Shoopman left a digital camera at a friend’s home. The friend was curious and looked through the man’s pictures on the camera, but was shocked
to find inappropriate photos and videos.
The friend contacted police, who immediately interviewed and arrested
Shoopman.
The man was booked into the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center,
where he remained locked up until his sentencing.
Although he was initially charged with 10 counts in January 2017, his case
was later amended in March 2017 to include 12 felony counts.
Shoopman was charged with five counts of sexual abuse to a child under
12, six counts of manufacturing of child pornography and possession of child
pornography. For the counts of sexual abuse to a child under 12, the man
received life sentences for each count, which will be served consecutively. For
the other charges, he received a 20-year sentence for each count that will be
served concurrently.

faith
By Christian Ryan
Life is a series of struggles and pain. The
way we deal with this pain is what defines
us, not the situation- the way that we react
to it.
I know in my personal walk, my life has
been nothing but a struggle. One of the biggest was when my mom was battling cancer.
It was 2009. We had only been in Oklahoma
for two years. We’d moved here from North
Carolina because of financial problems. We
had family In Cushing, OK, so they offered to help my mom get back
on her feet. She was divorced and a single mother struggling to raise
two kids: my sister Chloe and myself.
We got settled into a rent house my uncle owned. He’s agreed to
provide it rent free until my mom got a job. She soon got a job. She
was also going to nursing school. We never had much money, but we
did have enough to get by.
Right when things were beginning to get better, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I still remember the night she told me. I was so
afraid of losing my mom. After the tears, I decided I would be by her
side and help her through it. Things began to go gradually downhill at
first, but then quickly everything was falling apart.
We had no money so the hot water and electric was being turned
off regularly. On top of that, the only food we had to eat was donations
from the Salvation Army or the church. At this time, I was about 9 years
old and I was faced with a very big obstacle. I had no guidance, my
parents were divorced, and my dad was never in the picture. This left
me with a choice. I could either give up or press on.
I picked myself up and helped my mother through her treatment of
chemo and radiation. I would cook her meals and care for her when
she was sick in bed. My sister, on the other hand, was not involved and
she was living her teenage years being rebellious and irresponsible. It
was just my mom and I left to fend for ourselves.
Through this experience, one thing I held on to was that God was going to heal my sick mother. Through her losing her hair and becoming
bedridden, I had faith and never quit believing. By the grace of God,
the cancer was gone in 2013. She was, and today is still, a survivor.
This is just an example about an obstacle in life. There are many of
stories, just like mine, in the world, but something people don’t understand is these terrible obstacles in life are good because, from them,
we learn and grow as individuals.
I personally believe that God allows us to go through struggles to
keep us humble and to rely on Him because no matter how strong we
are no one can face the battle of life alone. No matter how difficult your
situation is, don’t give up, because for every obstacle in life, there is a
reward. But to receive it, you need to be strong and have faith.

have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help prevent child abuse
and neglect by making meaningful connections with children, youth and families in our communities.
Research shows that protective factors are present in healthy families. Promoting these factors is among the most effective ways to reduce the risk of
child abuse and neglect. They are:
• Nurturing and attachment
• Knowledge of parenting and of child and youth development
• Parental resilience
• Social connections
• Concrete supports for parents
• Social and emotional competence of children
April is a time to celebrate the important role that communities play in protecting children and strengthening families. Everyone’s participation is critical.
Focusing on ways to connect with families is the best thing our community
can do to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

Q&A: I am worried that my loved one is
driving while using drugs. What do I do?
If you share a vehicle, you should demand that your loved one see a physician before using the car again. This can
be very inconvenient for both of you, but
it is imperative that drug users not drive.
Your loved one’s life, yours, and others’ could be at risk.
In many cases, you may not be able to
control your loved one’s ability to drive.
You must tell him or her that the single most responsible thing to do is not
drive while using drugs (including abusing prescription medications). All drugs
can impair skills necessary for the safe operation of a vehicle, including motor skills, balance and coordination, perception, attention, reaction time, and
judgment. Even small amounts of some drugs can have a measurable effect
on driving ability.
Drugs also affect people’s ability to tell if they are impaired—so you might
have to make some difficult choices. If you believe your loved one is driving
and impaired, you should consider calling law enforcement. This can be a
difficult decision, but sometimes court intervention can actually help force a
loved one to seek help. For more see our DrugFacts on drugged driving.
If you are an employer and suspect an employee is using drugs, you should
immediately suspend any driving privileges while you get it sorted out. You
can contact this government helpline to find out more about workplace drug
testing: Drug-Free Workplace Helpline: 800-967-5752 (800-WORKPLACE) or

Is 10 days in the Noble County jail for raping a
14-year-old girl considered justice? According to the
Noble County Court, it is.
On January 11, Michael Harlan Williamson, Jr.,
28, of Covington, appeared before a Noble County
judge and pled no contest to felony lewd molestation
charges. The court accepted the plea and the sentence was handed down: 10 years DOC, serve 10
days in the Noble County jail and balance suspended.
He began his time that day and was out 10 days later.
He is now a free man to continue to do what he pleases- as long as he breaks no
laws and pays his court costs.
The girl, however, faces the rest of her life with what he did to her. According to
the affidavit, Williamson raped the girl after she told him no. He then told her not
to tell anyone or “they both would be in trouble”.
In addition, the girl told her stepmother, Nancy Wells, about explicit Snapchat
messages Williamson was sending her before the rape, but Wells told her to just
ignore them. According to the affidavit, Wells was apparently having an affair with
Williamson.
Wells was charged May 30, 2017, with child endangerment- permitting abuse.
She pled no contest to the charges on December 6 and was given a sentence of
5 years DOC deferred and community service.
As of now, Williamson is still not on the sex offender registration page.
According to online court records, Williamson’s attorney was Ronald Jones of
Enid, the District Attorney is Tom Lane, Sr., and the judge was Nikki Leach.
Note: We had so many comments on this post, we couldn’t possibly reprint
them all. To see the complete post with all the comments, go to our Facebook
Page and read many, many more!
______________________________________________________________
Jesse C: If it was my daughter the dude would be in the morgue.
Sherry F: I totally agree with you, what’s wrong with people these days
Cynthia M: He’ll do it again. That judge will have to look the next girl’s parents
in the face and answer for why he let this man do that to their baby. It WILL happen.
Londa J: If they judge cared at all the POS would of be punished the right way
already
Pati L: It seems nowdays all the poltical people need to be held accountable.
Start at the top and go all the way down...but it will never happen we the people
have no say!
Natalie M: Just read the judge was appointed my Mary Fallin in 2014.
Tarina B: That innocent child will NEVER forget what he did. The rest of her life
she’ll randomly think about it and cry. She’ll have nightmares. She’ll be scared to
let loved ones close to her.
She’s secretly going to judge any man who she sees getting too close to a child..
even his own. So, NO.. he deserves a life sentence to match the one he gave her.
Stefanie R: Isn’t he the same judge who gave the Perry elementary school
principal a slap on the wrist for her part of everything that happened there
Sherydee T: Yes, it is same judge.
Alicia N: So funny that judge made me sit there for 29 days before court for My
bond, over less than an 8th of pot… And a 50,000 dollar bond too.
Brady S: Seriously messed up. They will send a guy to prison for years for
drugs or robbery. But let a man rape a kid and basically slap his hand and say no
no?!? This POS needs to pay!
Kathy R: This is sickening! A felony violent crime against a minor should serve
at least half of his sentence day for day. I mean lesser misdemeanor drug offenses
like weed possession get at least 1 year! How is this possible!? WHO BOUGHT
THE JUDGE!?
Michelle K: Just like the guy that raped the girl at the church camp, no justice!
This type of “sentence”only tells the perpetrator they can get away with it and the
victim that they don’t matter!! This is exactly why a lot of victims don’t speak up,
its not worth the heartbreak and anguish you have to relive testifying. That judge
should be pulled from his position!
Wanda Y: I just do not understand these DA’s and judges...does it have to be
their baby girl before they act like real men and care? Are they that damn greedy
for the court money/ fines, court charges..ect..If this coward rapes again..I pray
to God above the family sues all involved in letting him walk..and I pray they sue
for enough that all those so called humans in that so called justice system, you
know the ones that are suppose to be protecting the victims, that they all end up
homeless
Melissa M: SMH!! This is one of the examples of the devil and his workers....
Pray for the victim!! Can you only imagine what type of soul this judge has.. and if
he’s married with children what type of souls they have... Whoever this judge is.. I
wouldn’t associate with anyone who associates with him period..
Rhonda H: It seems as these days you can LITERALLY commit murder and
not do time. It amazes me!!! every time someone is charged these days their record shows they should have already been in jail for previous crimes. This practice
of suspended sentences need to be stopped.
Brandon H: What??????? Ten days???? How in the hell do they think 10
days is enough for rape???? Our justice system is corrupt and broken... Remember something election times are coming up and we are going to make a major
change.
Ruby B: Rape doesn’t ever go away!!!!! its a nightmare that you have to learn
to live with for the rest of your life. Waking up in fear, not being able to trust full
heartedly, there will always be that wall between you and everyone else in fear that
it could happen again. I pray for this child and the long road ahead of her.
Amy S: With judge should be thrown off the bench that attorney should be
disbarred and the district attorney should be I don’t know what should be done to
dam for allowing this what the h*** is wrong with people
RN S: No, this was not justice. This is a slap in the face to the victim. 10 days
for rape and 5 years for child endangerment? Are you kidding me? No, this is bs!
He’ll get his in this life or the next.
Monica G: Criminal justice reform at its finest ! Call your legislators! Our tax
dollars are paying for this ! What about the victims ?
IS THIS JUSTICE?

Johnson arrested after manhunt
A Seminole man is in jail after he escaped from police and caused a two-day
manhunt earlier this month.
According to reports, 38-year-old David Wayne Johnson slipped away from
police custody sometime on March 6 in
Seminole County. A manhunt immediately ensued in the area of Wrangler and
Boren Boulevard.
Officers weren’t able to immediately
locate the man, whom they considered
“known to be violent.” They believed that
he had left the Seminole area and was
possibly headed toward Harrah-Newalla.
The Seminole Police Department
posted on their Facebook page and warned people that anyone who
helped the fugitive would be charged with felony charges.
On March 8, officers were advised that an unknown vehicle was on
someone’s property in the area of Hardesty Road and Patterson Road
in Bethel. A man, who was later identified as Johnson, was seen near
the vehicle. Several law enforcement agencies went to the area and
worked together to find the man, who was placed back into police
custody at 4:48 p.m.
The vehicle he was seen near was confirmed stolen out of Seminole
County.
Johnson’s bond was set at $102,100, and he was scheduled to appear in court on March 15, 2018.

Miller found guilty of enticement of
a minor
An Ada man has been found guilty of
enticement of a minor in federal court.
Floyd Preston Miller III, 38, was found
guilty by a federal jury of Enticement Of A
Minor Using The Internet. The jury trial began with testimony on Tuesday, February
20, 2018 and concluded on Wednesday,
February 21, 2018 with the guilty verdict.
Evidence at trial proved that from in or
about November 2015, the exact date being unknown to the Grand Jury, until on or
about February 8, 2016, Miller used the Internet to attempt to knowingly persuade,
induce, and entice an individual whom he believed was 15 years
old, to engage in sexual activity for which a person can be criminally
charged under Oklahoma State law.
The verdict obtained was the result of an investigation by the
Las Vegas Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the
North Las Vegas Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester said, “Preying upon children, whether in person or via the internet, is not only illegal, it is
despicable. Sometimes perpetrators gain an advantage over law
enforcement agents because the internet allows there to be distance from victims which span geographic and jurisdictional boundaries. But in this case the ICAC Task Force in Las Vegas, the North
Las Vegas Police, the FBI, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office worked
together to overcome the challenges that are inherent in Internet
Enticement cases to achieve justice for the victim.”
“Speaking more generally, I want parents to be aware that predators do exist and they can enter your children’s rooms without ever
stepping foot in the same state. Stay informed of the latest trends
in chat rooms, social media, and the various phone apps that make
it easy for strangers to seek out and communicate with children.
Be aware of their phone activity and internet history. Just because
a child is “safely” at home no longer means that predators have no
access to them. Predators are using the internet, are very savvy
with it, and are very much aware of how to lure children.”
A federal judge in Muskogee presided over the trial and ordered
the completion of a presentence report. Sentencing will be scheduled following its completion. Miller will remain in custody pending
sentencing.
