Many burglars are known for their array of disguises.
One burglar in Slidell, La. apparently forgot his and improvised. Surveillance video shows the 23-year-old suspect used a bucket when he robbed his former employer,
Kenney’s Seafood. The bucket seemed to hinder him a
little. The suspect had to tilt up the bucket every so often
to catch a glimpse of his surroundings. It turns out his
disguise was a bad idea. Police were able to identify and
arrest the suspect at his home.
A teenage girl and her friend are accused of drugging
her parents so they could use the Internet past curfew
time. “[The parents] woke up about 1 a.m. They had
hangover-like symptoms, they felt really groggy, had a
headache, went back to sleep. They felt the same way the
next morning,” said Lt. Lon Milka with the Rocklin Police
Department. The parents picked up a drug test kit that
some parents buy to check on their children. But they
used it on themselves. They discovered the milkshakes
the two girls had given them were drugged with sleep
medicine. The girls gave chocolate to dad and vanilla to
mom. The parents’ rule was no Internet access after 10
p.m. But with the parents in dreamland, the girls had
free rein. The girls are underage, so they won’t be facing
prison time. The case is being handled through the juvenile courts.
No one can say San Bernardino’s police chief is afraid
to “tackle” crime in the city. Chief Rob Handy was in civilian clothes Wednesday when he was alerted to a suspicious man trying to sell power tools outside a restaurant.
When the man saw a patrol car nearby, he took off on
foot. The chief ran him down and tackled him. During
the pursuit, a gun fell out of the suspect’s waistband. The
suspect was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a handgun.
A bizarre brawl involving a clown and a Milwaukee
police offi cer was caught on tape. Cellphone video shot
by witness Mitch Cooper shows the clown attacking a police offi cer. “The clown was resisting so the cop needed to
do what he needed to do to make sure he was safe,” said
Cooper who happened to be driving by. “It was funny
to witness, probably not so fun for the clown, but as a
spectator it was pretty entertaining.” According to a report, police had received several complaints prior to the
brawl that the clown had been chasing cars with a squirt
gun. The clown is a well-known local activist who is often spotted protesting outside government buildings. He
was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Three Shawnee men were taken into
custody after Shawnee police officers
foiled their plans to kidnap a man.
Joseph George, 39, was charged Feb.
8 with felony kidnapping, assault and
battery with a dangerous weapon, and
feloniously pointing a firearm. Victor
Harjo Jr., 20, and Michael Daryl Greenwood, 18, were charged with kidnapping.
According to the police affidavit, officers were called to the 200 block of S.
Oklahoma in Shawnee about a disturbance involving a firearm. The trio’s
van was intercepted at the intersection
of Philadelphia and Farrall, but officers
were forced to chase George and Greenwood on foot into a residential neighborhood. Both were caught shortly after
the chase had begun.
The victim who lived at the residence
on Oklahoma Street told officers the
three men entered his room and pistolwhipped him before forcing him outside. He added he was forced into a van
when the first police officer arrived at
the scene.
The victim, who was bleeding from
his head, was treated at Saint Anthony
Shawnee Hospital and released.
George’s bond was set at $75,000 and
he was ordered to have no contact with
the victim. He is scheduled to appear in
court March 19 for his pre-preliminary
hearing.

An Shawnee man was arrested after
police were alerted by an anonymous
tip of his drug activities.
Joshwa Adams, 25, was charged
Feb. 19 with possession of CDS and
drug paraphernalia in Pottawatomie
County District Court.
According to the police affidavit,
Officers Cody Gibson and Jonathan
Webb were dispatched Feb. 4 to the
area of 7th and Woodland for possible drug activity. They then made
contact with two people who wished
to remain anonymous that said they
suspected a nearby apartment was involved in drug activity.
Gibson and Webb spoke with several people at the apartment.
They explained they were responding to a complaint of drug use
and asked if there were illegal drugs in the apartment.
One man, Adams, admitted he had a small amount of marijuana
in the bedroom and led them to the northeastern bedroom. He
then pointed out a small pile of green leaves next to a homemade
pipe.
Gibson asked the lady of the house for consent for officers to
search the apartment; she agreed.
On the night stand next to the bed in the northeastern bedroom,
Webb found a small black case containing two clear plastic tubes,
each containing white crystalline residue.
Adams said the black case and the contents belonged to him. A
field test revealed the green leaves were marijuana. Residue from
one of the plastic tubes tested positive for methamphetamine in a
field test kit.
Webb placed Adams under arrest and transported him to the
Pottawatomie County Safety Center.

Postelle is one of four men
charged with conspiracy and
four counts of fi rst-degree
murder in the May 30, 2005
deaths of James “Donnie”
Swindle Jr., Amy Wright,
James Alderson and Terry
Smith.
His brother David Bradford Postelle, 24, was convicted in
March 2008 and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Their father, Earl Bradford Postelle, 44, was ruled
incompetent to stand trial in 2006.
Randal Wade Byus, 43, pleaded guilty to reduced charges
in May 2008 and agreed to cooperate with authorities. He
testifi ed against Gilbert Postelle, whom he said did most of the
shooting on that fateful Memorial Day.
Postelle and his family blamed Swindle for causing a
February 2003 motorcycle wreck that left the elder Postelle
with brain damage and other injuries. They went to Swindle’s
trailer looking for revenge and vowing to kill anyone who got
in their way.

Under cover drug agents defuse a mini meth lab found inside a
porta-potty in the middle of a golf course in Purcell.
Staffers noticed strange sports drink bottles with chemicals inside
the porta-potty and called police.
Officers arrived and soon realized someone had been inside making
meth using the “shake and bake” method.
Three bottles were found, two of them exploded before detectives
arrived.
Agents were able to neutralize the third one without the harmful
chemicals erupting.
“If someone would have been in the porta-pot when it happened
they might have gotten hurt by the flying plastic and the chemicals,”
Purcell Dt. Cpl. Scott Stephens said.
Investigators said they have a lead on one suspect but said they believe others could be
involved.
The inside of the unit was damaged but agents were able to submit latent fingerprints to a
crime lab.

Phillip Porter little more than a year
ago in his Delaware County home.
January 12, 2012, Porter was
found dead inside his home at
24901 South 590 Road in Grove.
The medical examiner’s offi ce
determined the 56-year-old died of

Eight people were taken into custody Feb. 11 after they disrupted
operations at the TransCanada Pipeline site in Seminole County
and refused to leave.
Deputies arrested Stefan Warner, 25, of Harrah, on complaints
of criminal trespassing and for threats of acts of violence. He was
later formally charged with trespassing after being forbidden.
Also arrested for trespassing were Philip Strickland, 24, of Vermont; George Vest, 24, of Calfornia; Crysbel Tejada, 23, of New
York; Carter Walker, 23, of Vermont; Mark Manley, 61, of Tulsa;
and Benjamin Reynoso, 29, of California.
Another protester, Elizabeth Catlin, 23, of New York, who was
also charged with trespassing, had to be forcibly removed.
Deputy Terry Glouker said he was called to a rural area in Seminole County about trespassers on TransCanada Pipeline property. One man, Warner, had
chained himself to the equipment and was hanging in the air about 20 feet above the ground.
He also had his arms chained together, was encased in duct tape, and covered in a tar-like
substance meant to keep anyone from trying to remove him from the equipment. It didn’t
work.
The other protesters said they had heard about the protest and were there to support Warner.
No one was hurt in the incident.

On Feb. 15, OSBI
agents discovered the body of
32-year-old Nathan Dale Blankenship in Seminole County near
Bowlegs.
The Lindsay man
was reported missing out of Oklahoma City several weeks ago. The medical examiner will perform
an autopsy on the body to determine the cause and manner of
Blankenship’s death.
Overnight, agents arrested two women for Unauthorized
Removal of a Dead Body – a felony. Jessica Cornwell, 33, of
Oklahoma City, and Adena Beasley, 32, of Oklahoma City,
were booked into the Seminole County Jail. The women were
acquaintances of Blankenship’s.
The OSBI is now investigating this case as a homicide.

There are times in our life when
others hurt or anger us. We sometimes
feel a strong desire to settle the score.
Proverbs 20:22 says Do not say, ‘I’ll
pay you back for this wrong!’ Wait for
the Lord and he will deliver you.”
The feelings that drive us to revenge
are powerful and strong, their
destructive nature can consume us.
The Bible responds with a “Do not...”
statement, not just a word of teaching
or advice but this verse is worded with
the strength of a command.
We would be better off to stifle the
thoughts of revenge early and quickly;
we should not even speak about it. When thoughts of revenge come we should
redirect them to thoughts of waiting on the Lord.
There are many reasons why we need to wait for the Lord to act. To wait without
giving in or compromise is a statement of faith. To wait is a testimony that we
believe in the promises of God and his commitment to us.
We are to wait, not for time to heal all wounds, or wait for an opportunity, or
wait for the sake of waiting, we are to wait for The Lord. We wait on purpose
for the one who created all things and has power to change all things, he is the
one who rules the universe and will judge the hearts of all men. We wait and we
should focus on the Lord and not our anger.
This verse ends with a conditional promise. The condition of course is not to
act on our desire to get revenge but to wait for the Lord instead. The promise is
that he will deliver. It suggest that the Lord will make things right, but it is not
specific; will the Lord deliver us from our enemies, or the situation or maybe
more importantly from ourselves and our bitterness?
As much as we need to be delivered from our own enemies we also need to be
delivered from our desire for revenge. It may be that even though God is a just
God he is more interested in changing our natures than balancing justice. He
allows circumstances in our lives to give us the challenges we need to grow. He
may sometimes deliver us not from our oppressors but from ourselves.

A Calvin man was taken into custody after he and his fiancé got
into a fight and he used his truck as a weapon.
Dennis Harden, 41, was charged Valentine’s Day with assault and
battery with a dangerous weapon- automobile, and domestic assault and battery.
According to the police affidavit, the Hughes County Sheriffs Department received a call Feb. 13 from a crying woman saying she
had just been assaulted by her husband-to-be, Harden. She said
he beat her up, and when she tried to leave, rammed her car and
severely damaged it. The woman added she was at a friend’s house,
so the Deputy Kenny Snyder went there to speak with her.
The woman told Snyder she arrived at their home earlier and
Harden immediately accused her of cheating on him. He then hit her. As she was trying to
escape him in her car, he plowed into hers with his truck several times. She said as she was
leaving, she hit the side door of his truck.
Snyder noticed as he was talking to the woman, she had a swollen lip and her little finger
was bleeding. He also noticed her car was in complete shambles.
Deputy Nolan joined Snyder to place Harden under arrest. At the house, they found
Harden’s truck. It had a guard on the front so it had little damage except for a dent in the
side passenger door. Pieces of the the victim’s car and tire tracks were all over the front
yard. Parts were also found in the road near the house where they fell off as she was leaving.
Bond was set at $5000 and he was ordered to reappear in court March 5 for his
status conference.

In this installment of Tips From
a Trooper, I’m going to talk about
a violation that we see every day. It
is something I am sure most of my
readers have done, many times, without giving it another thought. I
doubt if most have even considered it to be unsafe, much less illegal, but
it is. The violation is passing on the shoulder, and it happens all the time.
The car ahead of you is stopped in the lane of traffic, and you see the
left turn signal on. Its not turning because of oncoming traffic, which
it must yield to before turning, so you just slide your vehicle over to the
right, onto the shoulder, or maybe even just the widened part of the road
where the intersection is, and pass right by them. Maybe you slowed
down a little, just to be safe, or maybe not. You are in a hurry, and don’t
want to slow down to wait for traffic to clear. Doesn’t seem like a big
deal does it? Well, passing on the shoulder is illegal, and can be a very
dangerous situation!
The Statute governing this scenario is actually in the section that states
when passing on the right is permitted...it gives a few examples, one of
which is when a vehicle is preparing to make a left hand turn. Sounds
like its covered and should be legal, right? The last sentence of this Statute is where you find the restriction for passing on the shoulder.
It states:
The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass another vehicle upon
the right only under conditions permitting such movement in safety. In
no event shall such movement be made by driving off the pavement or
main traveled portion of the roadway.
Statute also defines roadway for us: That portion of highway improved,
designed or ordinarily used for vehicular travel, exclusive of the shoulder.
The reason for this Statute is simple, and for this exact scenario...not
only is the vehicle in front of you turning left, but the oncoming vehicle
is also going to turn left, and visibility of your vehicle is blocked by the
stopped one, which makes a blind spot, and the potential for the oncoming vehicle to turn left in front of you, just as you are passing the other
vehicle! We work accidents where this is the causation all the time, and
they can all be prevented by obeying this law, and practicing some patience! How much time do you think you actually save when doing this,
anyway? Next time you see someone do it, watch and see if you don’t
catch them at the next traffic light...they really didn’t save anything, and
a couple of seconds aren’t worth risking an accident and a life.
