pedal to the metal
A Shawnee man accused of stealing a vehicle is in jail after allegedly leading police on
a high-speed pursuit that ended in a rollover
crash on February 8 between Perkins and
Tryon.
Reports state a person started their vehicle
in Shawnee to let it warm up around 6:35
a.m. The person left the car unlocked. When
the person came back outside, the vehicle
was nowhere to be found. The person contacted law enforcement and reported the vehicle as stolen.
An off-duty officer who was headed home
after getting off work saw the car and confirmed that it was the stolen vehicle. The officer tried to stop the car, but the driver, 24-year-old Harley Dustin LeFlore,
instead put the pedal to the metal.
The officer pursued the stolen vehicle, reaching speeds up to 125 mph
headed northbound on U.S. 177. The chase eventually came to a stop with a
rollover crash between Perkins and Tryon.
LeFlore and a female passenger were transported to the hospital to be
treated for their injuries.
Leflore was booked into jail for endangering others while eluding police,
running a roadblock, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property
and leaving the scene of an accident involving damage.

March is National Youth Violence
Prevention Month
The National Association of Students
Against Violence Everywhere is a nonprofit
aiming to provide safer environments for
our youth. Its mission is to decrease the
potential for violence in our schools and
communities by promoting meaningful student involvement, education and service
opportunities.
SAVE’s Vision: Schools and communities will be safer and more secure, free of
fear and conducive to learning as a result of
students being actively involved in meaningful violence prevention efforts.
How It Got Started: SAVE was started by students in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1989 after the tragic death of a classmate who was trying to break up a
fight at an off-campus party. A group of students who did not want this death
to be “just another statistic” took action and created a violence prevention
program.
Chapters: SAVE has evolved into a national association with chapters in
elementary, middle and high schools as well as at colleges and community organizations across the country. Today, there are more than 200,000 students
involved nationwide.
Activities: Student members take the lead in planning chapter activities by
using the three SAVE Essential Elements: conducting crime prevention activities, conducting conflict management activities and providing meaningful service through projects in schools and communities. SAVE chapters also plan
safety rallies and safety awareness campaigns, engage in peer mentoring to
younger students, and conduct fun and educational meetings.

Trio arrested in Seminole County shooting
Three suspects were locked up after one allegedly
shot at a man on January 21 during a dispute over
dogs.
According to the police report, a Seminole County
deputy was dispatched to an active shooter situation
west of Wewoka on Highway 270B. He was advised
that Wewoka man Dale Lamar Crawford, 55, was
shooting at the victim.
Before the deputy got to the location, witnesses saw
Crawford riding away from the scene in a black car.
The deputy spotted the suspect vehicle and made
contact with Crawford, Seminole man Chad Michael
Mullen, 26, and 27-year-old Ashley Marie Chesser of
Wewoka. There was also an 8-month-old baby in the
car.
The deputy searched the vehicle for a gun, but he
didn’t find anything. He did overhear Mullen tell Crawford that he had just driven Crawford home, then left
the scene after shots were fired.
Witnesses said they saw Crawford get out of Mullen’s vehicle, run into his house, grab a gun and start
shooting at the victim. The victim jumped into his truck
and left the scene. He later said he was scared he was
going to get shot.
A witness told police he followed the suspect vehicle
from the scene and saw someone throw a gun out
of the window near the intersection of Highway 270B
and NS 3650. A deputy went to the location and found
a sawed-off shotgun with one round in the chamber.
On the way to jail, Crawford told the officer that he,
Mullen and Chesser took his dog to see the veterinarian. The man said he was mad at the victim because
the victim’s dogs had attacked his dog, and he wanted
to “get even” with the victim.
After the deputy read him the Miranda Warning,
Crawford said he didn’t want to talk. But, he would
then tell the deputy things such as, “Do you want to know the truth?” He also
kept telling the deputy that he shot the gun into the air and not toward the
victim.
Chesser is being charged with unlawful possession of controlled drug with
intent to distribute, two counts of bringing contraband into jail/penal institution
and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Crawford and Mullen are being charged with conspiracy to commit a felony,
attempt to kill and possession of firearm after former felony conviction. Crawford’s bond was set at $25,000. Mullen’s bond was set at $50,000. They are
both scheduled to appear in court on February 21, 2019.

how movies are made
A Red Oak, Texas, man found himself behind bars in Pontotoc County after he led police on a high-speed pursuit on January 16,
involving a stolen vehicle, drugs and more
than $400K in cash. Sounds familiar, right?
According to reports, Durant police officers
located a white Mercedes around 7:30 p.m.
that had been reported stolen from a Dallas
car dealership. They chased after the vehicle,
but lost it during the pursuit.
The car dealership used GPS that was on
the car to locate it in Tishomingo.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Johnston
County deputies joined in on the search, but
they were still unable to track down the car.
A trooper waiting in Pontotoc County eventually located the suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Jacob Thomas
Decker, on State Highway 1 near Roff. The trooper and a Pontotoc deputy
pursued the man, reaching speeds of 125 mph, as he sped through Ada,
putting other motorists and bystanders in danger.
The trooper deployed a maneuver, stopping Decker on Arlington Street
near Wolfe Lane. The man was placed under arrest.
While searching the stolen vehicle, officers found $424,100 in cash.
During the pursuit, Decker had thrown several items out of the window, but
police were only able to locate a bag containing 30 grams of meth.
Reports state Decker also had three active warrants for his arrest out of
Texas for drug trafficking, identity fraud, and burglary.
Decker is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, eluding/attempting
to elude police officer, possession of stolen vehicle and acquire proceeds
from drug activity. His bond was set at $500,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 20, 2019.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty PONTOTOC COUNTY 19 | MARCH 2019
A man in Florida stole some medication out of his roommate’s lockbox. They
were labelled Hydrocodone. But, they weren’t. They weren’t opioids. They were
laxatives. And yes, he did find out the hard way. His roommate called the cops
when the pills went missing. He admitted he stole them and then threw the rest
out. So, not only did he get a horrible stomach ache, he was publicly humiliated... and arrested.
Also in Florida, a guy was with his wife. She was upset over an issue she was
having with a family member. She wanted to talk about it with him, but he went
into Taco Bell and got himself lunch instead. When he got back, he tried to give
his wife a burrito. But he was dangling it in front of her, making fun of her for
being so upset. That wasn’t a smart move... she grabbed it and threw it on the
floor. Apparently, that’s a fighting act. He picked up the burrito and shoved it in
her face and up her nose. He was arrested for battery... by a burrito.
In Kansas, a family was playing Monopoly and wound up getting into a fight.
It escalated and as two cousins were arguing, one guy’s girlfriend hit the other
cousin and shoved him into a mirror. Then she took off running. The guy went
to the hospital for stitches but they are still looking for the girlfriend who is now
wanted on assault charges. And you know, when they catch her, she will have
to go directly to jail... without passing go... and without collecting her 200 dollars.
A guy was pulled over in Florida for having a light out. But, he was on probation and driving with a suspended license so he decided to make a run for
it. He ditched his car and tried to hide from police under a tree in a field. And it
may have worked if it weren’t for some crime fighting horses. There were three
horses that apparently didn’t like him in their field and started chasing him. He
hopped a fence, where he was promptly taken into custody.
A man was caught on surveillance footage sitting in front of a porterhouse
steak, a lobster tail and a 20-ounce beer in a California restaurant before pocketing the hunk of meat and walking out.
“What type of person will take a steak and watch the juice drip off and then
wrap it in a linen napkin?” said House of Beef lead server Denise Loya. “It’s just
highly unusual.”
Loya said the man dressed in a suit came into the Oakdale restaurant and
asked for a table for four. She said he looked like a villain from an ‘80s movie.
“Definitely a used car salesman or bad real estate agent. Slimeball,” she told
KTXL.
His actions were just as animated. The video shows his eyes shifting constantly as he looks up at the surveillance camera and over his shoulder.
“Just keep your eyes on this person ‘cause his eyes, you can see him, you
know, he’s watching,” said the restaurant’s owner, Steve Medlen.
One last look into the camera and the man picks up the slab of meat then
folds it into the napkin lifted from the bread basket. He’s unethical,” Medlen
said. “He’s out to commit a crime.”
Medlen said he decided to post the video on social media to catch the steak
smuggler.
“The monetary part is not part of the equation,” he told KTXL. “The part that
we want to do is take this person off the street.”
In the final moments, the man picks up his haul and walks away, all while a
little girl watches in his direction.
“Be great if he would come in and pay his bill and apologize but I highly doubt
that’s gonna happen,” Loya said.
The staff said if he had truly been starving they would have helped.
“We always help people,” Loya said. “When they come in off the streets, we
will buy them a bowl of soup or a sandwich.”
The staff says that was a $56 meal. The owner did file a police report with the
Oakdale Police Department but no arrests had been made.
