Owasso man Joshua Alexander Mayfield, 40, allegedly stole some
tools from a Tulsa residence on March 6.
An officer found the items when he went to question the man about a
reckless handling of a firearm incident.
According to the affidavit, a Rogers County deputy went to the man’s
residence in the 9400 block of 163rd E. Avenue on March 8. While speaking to the man, he saw several construction tools in the garage that were
consistent with tools stolen from Tulsa on March 6.
The deputy later returned to the residence after reviewing the theft report. The homeowner gave police permission to search the garage. Several items were positively identified as things taken from Tulsa.
The victims later arrived to claim their stuff. Some of the tools even
had the victims’ names on them.
Mayfield was arrested and transported to jail.
Several items that were stolen were not recovered from the garage, including a wallet containing
credit cards and a driver’s license.
One of the victims told the officer his neighbor saw two men in a light colored SUV outside his
residence the night of the burglary. Mayfield and his son were driving a light colored SUV the same
night. Mayfield’s son eventually confessed to the burglary. He told police the missing wallet was in his
father’s room.
The deputy went back to the residence and searched Mayfield’s bedroom. During the search, he
found a baggy containing a white powdery substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, some
marijuana, and a smoking device with residue.
Mayfield is being charged with knowingly concealing stolen property, two counts of possession of
controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at
$6,500, and he was scheduled to appear in court on March 23, 2013.

A few weeks ago, a Roselle, Illinois, police officer saw a car driving southbound on
Roselle Road with a 15-foot tree embedded
in the front grill of the car. After stopping
the driver, he also noticed the airbags had
been deployed (apparently from hitting the
tree). After an investigation, the Roselle officer arrested the driver for Driving Under
the Influence of Alcohol.

A Springdale, Arkansas, man was locked up in the
Mayes County Jail on March 1 after he tried to run
from police in a stolen vehicle.
35-year-old Robert Lee Stewart also had drugs in
the car and items belonging to other people.
According to the police report, a Mayes County
deputy was parked at Highway 412 and US 69 when
Stewart sped by at approximately 10:45 p.m. The radar showed Stewart was going 86 mph in a 70 mph
zone.
The deputy turned on his lights in an attempt to
stop the vehicle, but Stewart kept on going. During
the pursuit, Stewart reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.
When the deputy first spotted Stewart, he was traveling eastbound on 412.
When the deputy tried to stop him, he turned north onto 412b, then west on e550
Road. At the end of e550, he did a u-turn and went back to 412b and Highway 412.
The deputy was advised that the vehicle he was pursuing was stolen.
A Locust Grove officer put some spikes in the roadway on Highway 412, but
Stewart drove around them. His joy ride was about to come to an end, though.
The suspect drove through Locust Grove and turned north on Highway 82, where
he hit some spikes placed in the road by another Mayes County deputy.
Three officers had to pull the man out of the vehicle because he refused to get
out. He was immediately placed under arrest.
A Chouteau officer identified the man as Stewart and advised he had three warrants for his arrest in Arkansas.
While conducting an inventory of the stolen vehicle, an officer found a social
security card and a paycheck belonging to other men in Stewart’s wallet. The officer also found a credit card belonging to a woman and a bag containing a green
leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.
Stewart refused to speak to officers about the incident.
Stewart is being charged with possession of stolen vehicle, running a roadblock,
possession of controlled dangerous substance, eluding/attempting to elude police
officer and driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked. HIs bond was set at
$75,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 14, 2016.

someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.

Oklahoma Game Warden
Lt. Brek Henry (District 1 -
Rogers County) received a
call from the Nowata County Sheriff's Office on March
12 about suspects in a vehicle driving down a county
road firing multiple shots
from a vehicle.
As Lt. Henry was in
route, the suspects were
stopped by OHP Trooper
Seth Hudson. Trooper
Hudson discovered the suspects had four loaded rifles
and a spotlight, as well as an open container of an alcoholic
beverage. The suspects claimed to be attempting to shoot
feral hogs (from a public road AND where they didn't have
permission to hunt). The suspects also admitted to shooting
at rabbits.
Perhaps even more disturbing, the suspects admitted they
were indiscriminately shooting, not knowing what they were
shooting at or where the bullets might go!
Charges are pending in Nowata County District Court for
the following:
1. Hunting with the aid of motor vehicle.
2. Headlighting/Spotlighting.
3. Transporting a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.
4. Shooting from a public road/right of way.

Grove man Billy Joe Lopez, 23, allegedly threw
rocks at cars while walking in the middle of Highway
59 on March 22. He told police he didn’t like how
closely the cars were driving to him.
According to the police report, a Grand River Dam
Authority officer was dispatched south of County
Road East 340 on Highway 59 around 11 p.m. Another officer had Lopez in custody. The officer said
Lopez had thrown a rock at his patrol car. He said he
saw Lopez walking northbound in the northbound
lane of traffic. As the officer drove past Lopez, the
man threw a rock at his windshield.
A prisoner riding in the patrol vehicle confirmed the story.
The officer wasn’t the only victim of Lopez’s rock throwing. Multiple people
told the officer they were driving down the road and saw Lopez on the side of the
highway. As soon as they saw him, they heard objects hit their vehicles.
The officer asked Lopez why he threw rocks at vehicles. Lopez replied, “Because
I didn’t like how close the cars were driving to me.”
The officer told Lopez witnesses said he was walking in the roadway. Lopez
said, “Yeah I was.”
When the officer pointed out Lopez could have seriously injured someone, the
unremorseful man replied, “They shouldn’t have been driving so close to me.”
Lopez is being charged with four counts of throwing rock at moving vehicle.
His bond was set at $8,000.

A Delaware, Ohio, man was caught by a state trooper in Craig County with some marijuana and a pipe on
March 3.
51-year-old Christopher Curtin later admitted his
guilt for the possession of the items, and he received a
deferred sentence.
According to the police report, the trooper stopped
the man at approximately 1:30 p.m. when he failed to
signal a lane change while driving on the Will Rogers
Turnpike.
The trooper gave the man a warning and told him he
was free to go. He then asked for consent to search the vehicle – you know, just
in case.
Curtis wasn’t cool with that. He told the trooper no – he said he wanted to get
back on the road.
The trooper wouldn’t take no for an answer. He detained the man, and called
for an officer with a drug-sniffin’ dog.
When the officer arrived with K9 in tow, he took the dog for a walk around
Curtin’s car. The dog alerted to the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle, and they found some marijuana in two coolers on the
passenger floorboard and a marijuana pipe in the center console.
Curtin was placed under arrest and transported to jail.
Curtin was released on a $1,100 bond, and he pled guilty to the charges of with
possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia. He was sentenced with a year of probation ending March 9, 2017.

Vinita man Andrew Neil Lyons, 25, was arrested
in Miami on March 20 after he was caught messing
around in a vehicle that wasn’t his.
According to the affidavit, a Miami officer was dispatched to Walmart in the 2400 block of North Main
due to a possible fight in progress. He made contact
with Lyons, who said he was sitting in someone else’s
car, and the owner had forced him out.
The owner told the officer he came out of the store
and saw Lyons sitting in his car wearing his sweatshirt and sunglasses, trying to remove the stereo
from the dash. The man was still wearing the items.
The officer told him to put the sweatshirt, sunglasses, and any other items that
belonged to the victim on the ground. He then asked Lyons if he had taken anything else out of the car. Lyons said he put an air horn in the back of another
truck. The officer asked him why he would do that. Lyons explained that the air
horn wasn’t his.
A witness told the officer she walked out of Walmart to find the victim yelling
at Lyons. She said the victim told Lyons to get out of his car. The two men started
fighting, and the victim was eventually able to get the suspect out of his vehicle.
Lyons then took off running.
While searching the man prior to arrest, the officer found a tube in Lyons’s
pocket. The tube contained a white rock and some white powder -- it tested positive for methamphetamine.
Lyons was then placed under arrest and transported to jail.
The officer was later advised that a man contacted police and said he found an
air horn in the back of his truck that didn’t belong to him.
Lyons is being charged with burglary of automobile, possession of stolen
property and possession of controlled dangerous substance. His bond was set at
$13,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 28, 2016.
