Woman Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison for
Hoax Bomb Threat Against Claremore Schools
Chief Judge Gregory K. Frizzell sentenced
Stephanie Louise Montgomery, 49, of Claremore, to 10 months in Federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for
providing False Information about Bombs in
Schools.
As part of the plea agreement, Montgomery will pay restitution in the amount of
$6,391.78 to law enforcement agencies and
first responders, including the Claremore Police and Fire Departments, the Tulsa Police
Department, and the Oklahoma Highway
Patrol, for costs incurred when responding to
and investigating the false threats. The Court
also imposed a mandatory special monetary
assessment of $100.00.
On March 27, 2018, Montgomery made a
threatening phone call to the Claremore High School indicating there were
“five bombs in backpacks at the high school and ten more bombs located
at elementary schools.” Approximately 7,000 students, faculty, coaches, and
staff from all Claremore schools were evacuated or sheltered in place until being transported to alternate safe locations.
Multiple law enforcement personnel responded and performed sweeps of
the seven area schools but found no explosive devices. The threats followed
shortly after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in
Parkland, Florida.
“Hoax bomb threats are no joke, and this sentence reflects the seriousness
of the crime. The response by law enforcement and school officials in the
moments after receiving the threats was excellent. They mobilized quickly
and communicated effectively to protect our school children, teachers, and
administrators. Public safety is our highest priority. If you engage in hoax
bomb threats, we will find you and hold you accountable,” said United States
Attorney Trent Shores.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

As a female shopper exited a convenience store, a man grabbed her
purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately and the woman was
able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher, and police apprehended him within minutes. They put him in the cruiser and drove
back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to
stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, “Yes Officer, that’s her.
That’s the lady I stole the purse from.”
In Bent Forks, Ill., kidnapers of ice-cube magnate Worth Bohnke sent a
photograph of their captive to Bohnke’s family. Bohnke was seen holding
up a newspaper. It was not that day’s edition and, in fact, bore a prominent headline relating to Nixon’s trip to China. This was pointed out to
the kidnapers in a subsequent phone call. They responded by sending a
new photograph showing an up-to-date newspaper. Bohnke, however,
did not appear in the picture. When this, too, was refused, the kidnapers became peevish and insisted that a photograph be sent to them
showing all the people over at Bohnke’s house holding different issues of
Success Magazine. They provided a mailing address and were immediately apprehended. They later admitted to FBI agents they did not understand the principle involved in the photograph/newspaper concept. “We
thought it was just some kind of tradition,” said one.
After being arrested for stealing a car, the judge asked the man, “how
do you plead?” Instead of saying guilty or not guilty the man said: “Before
we go any further, judge, let me explain why I stole the car.” The judge
ruled in record time.
When two service station attendants refused to hand over the cash
to an intoxicated robber, the man threatened to call the police. They still
refused, so the robber called the police and was arrested.
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just
couldn’t control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each
man in the lineup to repeat the words, “Give me all your money or I’ll
shoot,” the man shouted, “That’s not what I said!”
In a small town of 1700, a student attempted to rob the local convenience store wearing his letterman’s jacket. He did not realize that he was
the only male named Dana in the whole town.
A company called “Guns For Hire” stages gunfights for Western movies, etc. One day, they received a call from a 47-year-old woman, who
wanted to have her husband killed. She got 4-1/2 years in jail.
Accused of selling drugs, Howard Jones’s attorney sought to lower
his client’s bail from $150,000 insisting that Jones would not think about
fleeing. At that very instant, Jones sprinted out of the front door of the
courtroom. He was caught fifty minutes later and his bail was raised to
$500,000.

AROUND THE NATION
A 21-year-old woman who was sought by
authorities in Las Vegas after allegedly skipping out on a $35 manicure and using a stolen car to run over and kill a manicurist has
been arrested in Arizona.
Krystal Whipple was taken into custody by
a team of Phoenix-area fugitive hunters involving local police, county investigators and
FBI agents, Las Vegas police said. The arrest
occurred in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale.
Las Vegas police Officer Jacinto Rivera
said he did not immediately have details of
the arrest. He said prosecutors will seek her
extradition from Arizona to Las Vegas where
Whipple was sought in a warrant issued Jan.
4 on murder and robbery charges in the killing of Ngoc Q. Nguyen, 51, of Garden Grove,
California.
The case sparked intense national interest after police released an internet
plea for help identifying Whipple that showed parking lot security video of a
woman leaving the nail salon Dec. 29. Homicide Lt. Ray Spencer said Whipple tried to pay for her manicure with a fraudulent credit card before telling
Nguyen that she was going to her car to get cash, then drove away.
Nguyen went to the front of the car and a man who Spencer identified as
Nguyen’s husband was seen in the security footage holding onto the vehicle
from behind as the car accelerates out of a parking lot.
Police say the car was a rental that had been stolen. It was later found
abandoned at an apartment complex.
Whipple has a criminal record in Las Vegas including a conviction in 2017
for attempted possession of a stolen vehicle. Clark County District Court records said she was sentenced to four months in jail for violating probation in
that case.
An attorney who represented Whipple at that time said he doesn’t represent her now.

THE TOWN OF SOUTH COFFEYVILLE WOULD LIKE TO KEEP YOU OUT OF JAIL!
If you have a warrant with the Town of South Coffeyville, Okla., and would like to get rid of
that warrant once and for all, you can contact the Court Clerk at 1-918-255-6045, option 1.
When a warrant is issued, the amount is sent to a collection agency. At that time, the collection agency will have an additional fee of 25% of the amount of the warrant added onto the
amount due. The town is offering two options at this time. If you would like a pay order, you
will need to pay 35% down of the amount due and sign a pay order. After 35% is paid and
a pay order is signed, the warrant will be recalled and the collection agency will be paid. If
you want to pay the warrant and collection fee, a discount on the warrant will be given for a
total that is over $500. No discounts will be given for pay orders. This will not apply to new
arrests. (Partial list, more to come)

Being able to tell the difference between healthy, unhealthy and abusive
relationships can be more difficult than you would think. No two relationships
are the same, so what’s unhealthy in one relationship may be abusive in another. Although there are many signs to pay attention to in a relationship, look

JAGGED LITTLE PILLEY
35-year-old Colcord man Dennis Earl Pilley
was locked up January 2 after officers found
evidence that he was in possession of a stolen
vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a Kansas officer
was dispatched to a metal shop building in
the 100 block of E. Vaughan around 9:36 p.m.
to investigate some suspicious behavior. He
spoke to Pilley, who said he was the only one
there.
Since the building belonged to the Pilley family, officers left the scene.
The actual owner was identified as Pilley’s
sister, and she was not happy that her brother was there. She arrived
shortly and started yelling at Pilley to open the door.
An officer noticed a white truck with Arkansas plates inside the shop.
The plates were registered to a couple in Gentry, Arkansas. Pilley said his
friend, who was from the Gentry area, had dropped the vehicle off.
The officer walked inside the building to look at the truck. The suspect’s
sister said her brother told her the vehicle was stolen, and that’s all she
knew.
After checking the VIN number, the officer learned the vehicle had actually been reported stolen out of Tulsa, and it had the incorrect tags on it. It
should have had Oklahoma license plates.
The officer placed Pilley under arrest. Pilley said he didn’t know the vehicle was stolen.
The officer then asked him why he told his sister that the truck was stolen. Pilley said he just thought it might be, because he had heard his friend
was stealing vehicles.
A woman at the scene said Pilley told her that the shop and the stuff
inside belonged to him. At some point, they heard a knock on the door,
and Pilley started freaking out. She said he called his sister and told her
that the truck was stolen. The woman also said Pilley said he was going to
go to jail for the vehicle.
The man’s sister showed officers a text message she had seen on her
brother’s phone that he had sent to someone. It said, “I got a ride I need to
get rid of if you know what I mean got anyone who would want it.”
Pilley is being charged with possession of a stolen vehicle after former
conviction of two or more felonies. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is
scheduled to appear in court on February 8, 2019.

Nothing runs like a Deere
Two men were taken into custody after the
driver of a car police were pursuing rammed into
a patrol vehicle.
The Wichita Police Department reportedly arrested 39-year-old Darrel Deere of Wichita and
19-year-old Jamie Daily of Bentley, KS. Deere
was arrested on charges of aggravated assault
of a law enforcement officer, evade and elude,
aggravated weapons violation, traffic charges
and outstanding warrants. Daily was arrested on
charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and
outstanding warrants.
At approximately 12:00 a.m. on January 4, Officers attempted to stop a 2000 Maroon Saturn in
the area of Savanah and Seneca for traffic violations. Deere accelerated, refused to stop and fled
from Officers. A vehicle pursuit ensued to Glenn
and Irving where the vehicle stopped. Deere
then put the Saturn in reverse and intentionally
rammed the patrol vehicle in a continued attempt
to escape. Deere then wrecked into a fence and
fled from the vehicle on foot.
Officers took Deere into custody after a short
foot pursuit. Officers arrested Daily in the Saturn
without further incident. Both were booked into jail.
No officers were injured in this incident.

A 45-year-old Miami woman told law enforcement
she has a gambling problem after she was caught
embezzling money from a local college in August
2018.
According to the affidavit, an Ottawa County deputy was spoke to some employees at the Northeast
Technical College on August 24 regarding a possible
embezzlement case. The employees said a longtime
employee, identified as Tina Renee Pitcher, had been
writing herself checks from the Activity Account, an
account that she was responsible for.
An employee explained that the account needed
two signatures from cardholders who were on the
account. The college’s bank had first alerted them that an employee had
been writing herself checks.
When the employee confronted Pitcher about the money, she admitted to
forging the checks so she could spend the cash at local casinos. The woman
told him she had a gambling problem. The employee said they estimated
nearly $150,000 was missing due to the checks Pitcher made to herself.
The deputy spoke to Pitcher regarding the allegations on September 3.
She told him she had been writing herself checks from the Activity Account.
She admitted to forging one of the two signatures on the checks with her
co-worker’s signature. She also admitted to writing checks to her husband
from the account, but she denied that he was involved or even knew what
she was doing.
During the investigation, employees discovered that some cash was also
missing from deposits made by various departments into the Activity Account. Pitcher admitted to taking some of the cash. She said she would take
the cash from the deposit, give the original receipt back to the department supervisor, then create a new receipt to submit to the bank after she had taken
some of the money for herself. The money missing from the forged checks
and stolen cash totaled $221,908.51.
A warrant was issued for Pitcher’s arrest for embezzlement of public funds
on January 14, 2019. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 28, 2019.
