A Claremore man was arrested on September 10 after he allegedly stormed into
a house and threatened to kill a man and
his wife.
According to the police report, a Claremore officer was dispatched to a burglary
in progress at a residence in the 300 block
of N. Cherokee Avenue shortly after 9 p.m.
En route to the location, dispatch advised
that the suspect was still at the scene, and
he had threatened the reporting party with
a gun.
When officers found the man, they immediately noticed that he was very intoxicated.
The reporting party said 21-year-old David Wayne Denson, III, had kicked down the door of a residence and
started yelling that he was going to kill the former tenant, who had just
moved out. The man said he watched and listened as Denson walked
around the residence, breaking things and destroying the property.
When Denson finally exited the house, he threatened to kill the reporting
party and his wife.
The victim said Denson jumped back into his truck and tried to run over
him with the vehicle.
In the suspect’s vehicle, officers found a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana and an open, still cold, beer can.
Denson is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, burglary in the second degree, threaten to perform act of violence, possession of controlled dangerous substance and transporting opened container of beer. His bond was set at $15,775.25, and he was scheduled to
appear in court on September 26, 2016.

The following is a list of
early warning signs that
someone may be abusive.
This list was put together
by survivors of domestic
violence who reflected on
the early phases of the
battering relationship and
identified some of the early
warning signs of abusers.
Someone who:
• Wants to move too quickly into the relationship.
• Does not honor your boundaries.
• Is excessively jealous and accuses you of having affairs.
• Wants to know where you are all of the time and frequently calls, emails
and texts you throughout the day.
• Criticizes you or puts you down; most commonly tells you that you are
“crazy,” “stupid” and/or “fat,” or that no one would ever want or love you.
• Says one thing and does another.
• Takes no responsibility for their behavior and blames others.
• Has a history of battering.
• Blames the entire failure of previous relationships on their partner; for
example, “My ex was a total bitch.”
• Grew up in an abusive or violent home.
• Insists that you stop spending time with your friends or family.
• Seems “too good to be true.”
• Insists that you stop participating in leisure interests.
• Rages out of control and is impulsive.
Pay attention to the “red flags “and trust your instincts. Survivors of
domestic violence frequently report that their instincts told them that there
was something wrong early on but they disregarded the warning signs and
didn’t know that these signs were indicative of an abusive relationship.
Always take time to get to know a potential partner and watch for patterns
of behavior in a variety of settings. Keeping in touch with your support
system and participating in good self-care can lower your risk of being
involved in an abusive relationship.

Man arrested in Shawnee, Kansas, Wal-Mart attack
involving Good Samaritans
A suspect was arrested and charged September 13 in
the Sunday attack at a Shawnee Wal-Mart in which two
Good Samaritans intervened.
Shawnee police said 27-year-old Arthur Fred Wyatt III
of Overland Park was charged in Johnson County District
Court with attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated kidnapping and attempted aggravated robbery.
A 39-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman who had been
shopping at the Wal-Mart at Shawnee Mission Parkway
and Maurer Road was attacked in the parking lot about
1:30 p.m. September 11. Two men approached her while
she was putting her child in a safety seat, police said. She was struck in the head.
A Good Samaritan tried to intervene, and one of the attackers shot him. A second
Good Samaritan then shot one of the attackers, killing him.
The other attacker escaped on foot. A man who fit that person’s description was
detained but later released.
Wyatt was arrested September 13. Shawnee police spokesman Maj. Dan Tennis
said he could not discuss details of the arrest because the case was now in the hands
of the district attorney.
The Good Samaritan who was shot, a 33-year-old Kansas City man, remained in
serious condition in a hospital September 13. The woman who was attacked was
released from a hospital on September 12.
The attacker who was killed was identified Monday as 28-year-old John W. Simmons
III of Kansas City.
Ryan J: Everybody involved is from kansas city. Strange.
Jailbirds: Sorry... Shawnee, Kansas. It has been corrected in the story, but it was
in the headline.
Ryan J: Oh ok i was thinking shawnee oklahoma. Makes more since now.
Winter B: He did the right thing. What if no body was there to help her? What if
they wanted her dead and her child for sex trafficking. It could’ve been worse if he
wouldn’t have stepped in.
Jonathan B: Was the good samaritans actions justified? How is that even a question? They most likely saved that womans life from a couple of scum bags.
Derek O: We need more good ppl with guns thats the only thing that will stop the
bad guys
Stacie R: Hallelujah for the good Samaritan! Thugs deserve bad consequences
Michelle K: It is so wrong that a person teeing to be a good Samaritan and helping a defenseless woman with a child, gets charged!
Dagmar W: The Good Samaritans did the right thing!!!!!!!
Michael W: Such a crime he didn’t kill the other guym
Don L: But his mother said he was at home.

OWENS
FOLSOM
Ever heard the saying, “The customer always
comes first?” Well, if you’re a drug dealer and you
don’t apply this motto, you could land yourself in jail.
Just ask Jeremy Owens and Shannon Folsom of
Savanna, Okla.
According to reports, Owens and Folsom lived at
the Knight’s Inn on Highway 69. Folsom managed
the motel. Apparently she and Owens were dealing
drugs out of their motel room and decided they were
going to stiff one of their meth customers.
On September 10, a woman tried to buy some
meth from Folsom. She paid her money for some
meth, but Folsom never gave it to her. Owens and
Folsom taunted the woman saying she “could always call the cops and tell them her dope money
was stolen.”
Well, the woman did just that. She notified authorities and the District 18 Drug and Violent Crime Task
Force was all over it.
Armed with a search warrant, the agents searched
Folsom and Owens’ room and found drugs and paraphernalia. They also found two small children present in the room.
Both Folsom and Owens were placed under arrest and taken to the
Pittsburg County jail.
Owens was charged with possession of CDS in the presence of a minor
or within 1000 feet of a park, endeavor/conspire to deliver/manufacture/
possess CDS, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was
set at $25,000.
Folsom was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nowata man Cody Douglas Gibson,
32, was locked up after officers found
drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop
on August 30.
According to the affidavit, a Nowata officer was on patrol in the area of Pecan
and Wettack when he saw Gibson driving
a vehicle headed westbound on Wettack
around noon. Knowing that the man had
a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding warrant out of Rogers County,
the officer stopped the man.
The officer asked Gibson when he had
fixed his license. Gibson replied that no
one told him his license had been taken.
The officer informed him that his license
was revoked and he had warrants out of
Rogers County. He told the man to step out of the vehicle.
After the officer placed Gibson in handcuffs, the suspect asked him to
close his car door. When he did, the officer heard the doors lock. Gibson
told him that the keys were in the car.
The officer asked how to get into the vehicle if the keys were locked
inside. Gibson said he didn’t know -- he told the officer the car only came
with one set of keys.
Other officers arrived to assist.
One officer searched the man and felt an unusual object in the front of
Gibson’s pants. Gibson told police it was just his penis.
When the officer told him he knew he was lying, Gibson admitted it was
some clean urine for taking a pee test. The keys to the man’s car were also
located in his pocket.
Due to rumors that Gibson was selling narcotics, a K-9 was dispatched to
the scene. As he walked around the vehicle, the dog indicated the presence
of drugs in the vehicle.
Officers searched the car and found a Xanax pill, a large bag containing a
crystal-like substance that tested positive for meth and a syringe.
When the officer returned to the police department, he was advised that
Gibson was not in compliance with his sexual offender registration.
Gibson is being charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, possession of
controlled dangerous substance without tax stamp affixed, failure to register
as a sex offender, acquire proceeds from drug activity, possession of controlled dangerous substance and driving with license suspended. His bond
was set at $500,000.

GRASS
Vinita man Travis Colin Grass, 47, allegedly threatened to kill one of his friends after she didn’t text him
back quickly enough on September 16.
According to the affidavit, a Delaware County deputy was dispatched to a residence on S. 605 Road
at approximately 7:48 p.m. The caller said Grass had
broken the window out of a woman’s car before fleeing the residence on his bike.
On the way to the call, the deputy was advised that
a trooper had stopped the man east of S. 590 Road
on E. 250 Road. When he arrived at the location, the
deputy asked the trooper if Grass had said anything.
The trooper said as soon as he stopped Grass, the man told him, “I didn’t
make death threats to anyone.”
The trooper also advised that the man was intoxicated.
The victim told the deputy that Grass was an old friend of hers. He texted
her asking if he could come over, but when she didn’t reply back quickly
enough, he became angry and started threatening her.
The deputy read the text conversation between the suspect and the victim. Grass allegedly told the victim, “You don’t want to see me. Then you
won’t see no one. This is how we go on my route. Be ready -- I’m gonna
send you to the resting place as I go.” He was also direct and told her, “I’m
gonna kill you.”
The victim said Grass rode up to her residence on his bicycle around 5:30
p.m. He called her dog to him and kept asking to the dog to speak to him.
She told the man to leave and she thought he did, but then she heard a
crack and looked outside to see that the car window was busted.
A couple minutes later, the man started throwing rocks at her house.
On the way to jail, Grass told the deputy, “That bitch is going to get me out
of jail and when she does, I’m going to break her neck.”
He also told her if he couldn’t see her then no one could, and she’s wasn’t
going to live to see Christmas.
Grass is being charged with planning an act of violence and threatening
an act of violence. His bond was set at $2,050, and he was scheduled to
appear in court on September 26, 2016.

When police in Vancouver, Canada, asked to search
Jason Pauchay’s apartment
for drugs, he was not a suspect—in fact, they were looking for someone else. That all
changed when they got a look
at how his name was listed on
his cell phone: “Jason Pauchay Drug Dealer.”
When Stephan Crane broke into the Ravelli Republic
(Montana) newsroom, he used the computers to watch
porn and check Facebook. Then Crane doused the office with a fire extinguisher, took some candy, and left. It
wasn’t difficult to find him, however; the police just followed the trail of stolen M&Ms that led to his sister’s place
across the way.
As two men waited on line at the coffee shop to pay
their bill, a third cut in front of them. He threw a drink at
the clerk, and demanded all the money from the till. Temporarily surprised, the men quickly recovered and handcuffed the crook. Apparently in his rush the criminal didn’t
notice they were police officers—in full uniform.
In Mesa, Arizona, a home break-in was foiled when
the burglar jumped through the bedroom window—and
got trapped in a clothes hamper. Cops took it from there.
(That definitely wasn’t the kind of clean getaway he had
planned.)
Recently, a woman in Fresno, California, was stopped
at a DUI checkpoint for being soused. Ever helpful, she
offered up this info: “My husband’s right behind me, and
he’s even drunker than I am.”
A German bank robber sent mocking emails to local
police, ridiculing their efforts to arrest him. First he let them
know they had his age, build, and accent wrong. Then he
corrected their announcement that he’d escaped on foot;
no, he had a getaway car! The cops got the last word
in, though, when they arrested the guy a few hours later.
They used his email to trace him.
A woman in Somerset, Massachusetts, was arrested
for breaking and entering. But she was quickly caught
thanks to her ankle bracelet … the one fitted with a GPS
system … that she had gotten from the police … for being
on probation from an earlier breaking-and-entering case.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
PLUMBER
An observant OHP trooper discovered an alleged drug trafficker after he pulled over a vehicle on I-44 for an improper lane change.
Ronna Plumber, 19, of Houston, Texas, was
charged September 7 with trafficking in illegal
drugs- cocaine, in Craig County District Court.
Two other people in the vehicle, including the
driver, were charged with possession of paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause affidavit, an
OHP trooper was east-bound on I-44 near mile
marker 285 at the Mainline Toll Plaza when he
notice a Chevy Equinox that failed to signal a
lane change. The trooper pulled the vehicle over
and asked the driver to come to his patrol unit
to issue a warning.
While the trooper was writing the warning, he noticed some very unusual
activity going on inside the Equinox. He finished his warning and decided to
call on his K-9 partner Ivo to check the outside of the car. Sure enough, Ivo
gave a positive indication of something illegal inside the vehicle.
During the search, the trooper found a marijuana grinder with marijuana
residue in a brown purse inside the Equinox. He then noticed that the windshield cowling cover had been tampered with. When he removed it, he
found four black tape-wrapped packages in the cowling. He cut into the
packages and found a white powder substance. It later field-tested positive
for cocaine.
All three were taken into custody and booked into the Craig County jail.
Bond was set at $50,000 for Plumber and she was ordered back to court
on September 30 at 9 am.

HAMPEN
Alcohol and religion are probably two things you don’t
want to mix, especially if you’re drinking with Christine
Faith Hampen.
The 36-year-old Miami woman was arrested on September 20 after she allegedly hit a man with a vodka
bottle and called him a demon after an argument about
religion.
According to the police report, a Miami officer was dispatched to a residence on H Street NE at approximately
12:42 a.m. for an unknown 911 hang up call. Dispatch advised a man
called 911 and only said “I’m at…” before the call was lost.
Dispatch tried to call the number back, but no one answered.
When the officer arrived at the residence, a man who was covered in
baby powder and bleeding from his head was standing in the front yard.
The man told the officer his girlfriend, identified as Hampen, hit him in the
head with a bottle. He said he was lying in bed when Hampen walked in
the room, hit him in the head with something, and threw baby powder on
him. He said they had been arguing about religion and Hampen called him
a demon before hitting him.
The officer knocked on the front door of the house and found a naked
Hampen crying and wrapped up in a blanket. He told the obviously intoxicated woman to put some clothes on.
When the officer asked her what happened, she said the victim came at
her. She told the officer the victim hit her in the stomach, so she hit him in
the head with a bottle.
There were no visible injuries to the woman’s abdomen.
Hampen said they were fighting because she wanted the victim to
leave, but he wouldn’t. She showed the officer the vodka bottle she used
to attack the man. Hampen also said she threw the baby powder at her
boyfriend before hitting him with the vodka bottle.
The officer found a large amount of baby powder and some blood all
over a bedroom floor. The officer placed Hampen under arrest. As he escorted her to the patrol car, she started cussing and screaming at officers.
Hampen is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon and interfering with a 911 emergency telephone call. She is
scheduled to appear in court on October 5, 2016.
