A supposedly friendly game of chess in a Stephens County Jail
cell ended up with one inmate in the hospital and another, 21-yearold Mitchell Lee Phillips, of Duncan, in even more trouble than he
was originally in.
On July 18, a Stephens County deputy was dispatched to the jail
in reference to an assault that had occurred between two inmates.
According to the affidavit, when he arrived at the jail, an inmate
was in constraints because, he explained, he confronted another
inmate because he wouldn’t let the victim call the picket (the control center for the jail) for help the night before.
The victim’s jaw was swollen shut and he was unable to speak. He
handed the deputy a note that said: “They wouldn’t allow me to call
the picket…Mitchell said he wanted to see what if felt like to break someone’s jaw. He said he
picked me because I get Tylenol from the med cart and that makes me weak.”
Phillips agreed to talk to police and told a slightly different story. He said the victim and
another inmate had been playing chess when Mitchell “just stood up and hit him.”
Phillips said that the victim had been making him get extra Tylenol from the med cart and
he was tired of being told what to do. “I get mad sometimes and I just got mad and hit him,”
he told police.
Phillips is being charged with aggravated assault and battery. He is being held on a $5,000
bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 11, 2013.
How does it feel?

The answer to the above question is, of
course, no, but that didn’t stop 29-yearold Timothy Shane Blackerby of Comanche for trying to kiss the Mrs. goodbye
before he was locked up.
On Aug. 2, Stephens County deputies
went to a Comanche residence to serve
a warrant for Blackerby’s arrest. According to the affidavit, a woman holding a
small child exited the home as police approached the front door. She told them
that she didn’t want to get in trouble, but
that Blackerby was inside the home.
When police entered the home, they made contact with Blackerby’s wife, who told them that he was not at the residence.
Blackerby’s wife was apparently lying because police found the
man holed up in the attic. Blackerby refused to come out of the attic.
When police threatened to send a K-9 after him, he said he would
kill the dog.
Blackerby finally relented when police said they would give him a
cigarette if he came downstairs.
A deputy placed Blackerby’s hands behind his back and reached
for his handcuffs. Blackerby asked if he would kiss his wife and when
the deputy told him no, Blackerby jerked away from the deputy.
Blackerby knocked himself and the deputy to the floor. A scuffle ensued as Blackerby attempted to get away from police. He was swiftly
apprehended, but continued to resist arrest, until police threatened
to tase him.
He was taken to the Stephens County Jail without further incident.
The controversial Casanova is being charged with assault and battery on a police officer. His bond was set at $7,500 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16, 2013.
Can I kiss my wife
before I go to jail?

A Duncan man is in jail after he repeatedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the neck with a kitchen knife.
On July 12, Duncan police were dispatched to a residence in reference to a 911 call. According to the police report, dispatch told
police that a female had advised that her ex-boyfriend stabbed
her several times in the neck. The victim said she had locked herself in the house and the suspect was hiding in the garage.
When police arrived at the residence, the victim exited the
home; she was covered in blood and holding a towel to her neck.
She told police her ex-boyfriend had stabbed her with a metal
kitchen knife and that he was hiding in the garage.
While checking for exit doors outside the garage, police saw
the suspect, 30-year-old Benjamin Arnold Birchfield, lying flat
on his back on the roof. Police ordered him to put his hands in
the air and was held at gunpoint.
Police climbed onto the roof and placed Birchfield into handcuffs. He was transported to
the Duncan Police Department for questioning.
At the station, Birchfield reportedly asked if “that b---- was dead, she deserved it” and that
he “hoped she was dead so she could not repopulate the white race.”
The violent man was taken to the Stephens County Jail after questioning and asked an officer for a cigarette or dip of snuff because he was “going to jail for murder.”
Birchfield is being charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held
on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear on court on Sept. 11, 2013.

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma Department of Human Services to impact the huge
social problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services

Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they
have a chance at a productive life. Children have the right to get
support from both parents and do not lose this right when a
parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children,
taxpayers often pay the cost of raising children. When children
receive public assistance and their parents pay no child support,
all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

Most wanted What you’re saying
about this on...
Krysta R: Why do people like this get
a second chance? Isn’t one time getting
caught forcing kids to live in filth enough?
Dustin H: Poor babies
Beulah M: Not with any relatives don’t
sound like they know to clean or take care of
kids, this includes granny!
Moonbaby D: Omg. Whats wrong with
people!!
Carmen R: Apparently not in
Oklahoma..... you can get by with anything
even murder. RIDICULOUS
Jo Ann D: Poor kids
Cheryl T: 2nd time?? Smh
Tonya R: Really sad that most of these
jailbirds post are abused children....Get it
together people!
Carmen R: And why wasn’t the great
state of Oklahoma and its DHS checking up
on them? Utter ignorance.
Courtney O: They were checking on
them, says in the caption that they found
them while they were there on a “welfare
check”. There is nothing wrong with OK
DHS, they were doing their job.
Lea C: And why do these people keep
bringing more innocent children into that
life. Speechless
BekanMike S: Let’s pray the kids get
taken away for good.. to loving family who
will bless them with decent home an love
Sara M: I get paranoid letting my
daughter play in mud
Brittney M: So lets NOT give them back
to them a third time. Come on DHS, get
your sh*t together!!!
Sharon G: Its not just oklahoma its the
dhs workers they need to do their dang job
an look in to stuff like that
Rich L: On a recent Tulsa TV news thread
a family member of contestant #3, (the
older lady most recently arrested), defended
the couple and decided to call everyone who
stated the obvious about the couple “stupid”,
“uniformed” and my favorite “examples of
the public school system in Tulsa”. Gotta
love people sometimes!
Sara M: I also get paranoid when grass
gets on my child. Im paranoid shes gonna
get chiggers or step in poop. Yes im a very
paranoid mother. But I dont let it control me
lol but still I get anxious when my daughter
only pees a little in her diaper. If she still
smells like a poopy or diaper I have to give
her a bath. If there is a smidgen of trash on
the floor I freak out.
David A: wow i hope the kids are going
to be ok! fine parents we have.some people
should not have kids...
Emmy B: There’s a difference in a kid
that’s dirty from playing outside and lives
in a cluttered (but sanitary) home and a
child that is left to live in filth...it’s healthy
for kids to play outdoors and indoors but its
unhealthy for children to be brought up in
the conditions that were reported. My God
feces on the floor!!! it’s only teaching those
kids that it’s acceptable to live like that as an
adult. There’s no excuse for adults that are
too lazy to clean.
Nikole T: No one wants to work for
DHS bc it’s SUPER low pay, terrible hours,
and you see horrific things every day. No,
they shouldn’t have been returned to the
home, but my goodness....stop being so
judgmental. Be the change you wish to see
in the world!!! I dare any of you to go work
for DHS and fix it.
KID S FOUND IN FILTH TA KEN AWAY
FOR SECOND TIME
Prosecutors have filed
charges against three
people after Tulsa Police
found three children
living in filth.
Matthew Prior and
Angela Prior each face
one count of child neglect.
Police went to their
home in the 1200 block of
North 76th East Avenue
on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 on a welfare check.
According to a Tulsa Police report, officers found the couple’s three children in a
filthy home, with cockroaches, rotting food and feces on the floor.
Prosecutors also charged the children’s grandmother with child neglect. According
to investigators, Janet Marie Friend, 57, is the primary caregiver of three children
-- ages 5, 3 and 2.
The children were removed in February because of the filth but were returned in
May.
All three are in the Tulsa County jail with bonds of more than $150,000 each. The
children are in DHS custody.

Pets seldom catch much press as
it relates to vehicles, but we have
our pets in our vehicles all the
time. To many, they are a part of the family, and go with us on
trips, to run errands around town, or just out for a ride. Just as we
treat them as part of the family, we have a responsibility to them,
including doing everything we can to keep them safe while in our
vehicles.
This summer, we have been very fortunate in the temperature
department! Only a few days so far have hit triple digits, we’ve had
pretty good rain, and it has been nice. With the temperatures lower
than they have been in the last few years at this time...it could be
easy to forget that as long as the sun is shining, the temperature
inside a parked car can still rise to dangerous levels. Leaving a pet
in the vehicle for as little as 15 minutes can end up having tragic
consequences. Even when the outside temps are in the 70’s, the
temperatures in a closed up vehicle can reach the 90’s or higher. The
best solution is to leave your pet at home. If that is just not possible,
or you choose not to, make sure that your pet has water, and leave
the vehicle running with the air conditioning on. Make sure you
don’t leave your pet for long, because the AC could go out, and then
your pet is stuck in a vehicle that is hot, and is also blowing hot air!
Many people let their dogs ride in the bed of their pickup. We’ve
all seen those dogs with their face into the wind, riding in the back
of the pickup. Please remember that the bed of those pickups are
metal, and even if they are covered by a bed liner or similar product,
the temperature can heat up the bed so hot as to be extremely
painful to your pet’s paws! Again, best solution is to leave the pet at
home, but if take them with
you, use a kennel or crate. This keeps the pet up off the hot bed
of the pickup, and also eliminates the possibility of the pet jumping
out, or even the potential of biting someone who gets too close to
the truck!
Speaking of crates, they aren’t a bad idea for inside the cab either.
Ever see a dog in the lap of a driver? Obviously this is not safe, the
pet can distract the driver, or even interfere with the safe operation
of the vehicle. This puts everyone at risk, so if you are going to
travel with your pet, make sure they don’t contribute to an accident,
and keep them out of the driver’s area!
This a just a few tips. The internet has plenty more, so please
educate yourself if traveling with pets. Thanks for reading, buckle
up, and be safe!

Brandon Tyricas Morton, 34, is in jail
after police found marijuana and evidence that he was selling the drug during
a traffic stop on July 28 in Alex.
According to the affidavit, an officer
with the Alex Police Department observed
a car going 62 mph in a 50 mph zone. The
officer made contact with the female driver and noticed an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After writing
the woman a ticket for speeding, the officer asked her to exit the car.
He then asked if there were any drugs in
the car; she told him not that she knew of.
The officer asked the passenger, later identified as Morton, to exit
the vehicle and asked him if there were any drugs in the car or on his
person. Morton told the police no and agreed to a pat down.
The officer found a bag of a green, leafy substance, (later found to be
marijuana), and a small bag containing pills (that Morton said were
valiums) in Morton’s shorts.
The officer placed Morton under arrest and asked the driver if he
could search the vehicle. She consented and the officer found a bag in
the front floor board that contained two sets of scales, two large bags
of a green leafy substance, a box of sandwich bags, a cutter, and a price
sheet.
Morton told the officer that the driver knew nothing about the drugs
and they were all his.
The driver was released and her drug-toting passenger was transported to the Grady County Jail.
Morton is being charged with unlawful possession of controlled
dangerous substances with intent to distribute and he is being held on
a $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 4, 2013.

Shana Suggs, a 25-year-old Haileyville woman, has been
jailed after she allegedly poured gasoline on her daughter’s
head to treat a head lice problem - and ended up setting the
little girl on fire instead.
According to police, Suggs was attempting to treat her
5-year-old daughter’s head lice problem when she brought
the little girl into a bathroom and began pouring gasoline
over her head.
Investigators say a nearby water heater ignited on the gasoline fumes, which set both Suggs and the little girl on fire.
Sugg’s boyfriend reportedly heard screams coming from
the bathroom and used a jacket to smother out the flames -
but not before the little girl was severely burned.
Prosecutors say the child suffered second and third-degree
burns to more than 60 percent of her body. Although the
incident occurred in January, the girl continues to receive burn treatments at a Tulsa
burn center and a Texas Shriner Hospital.
After a long investigation, Suggs was booked into the Pittsburg County Jail and charged
with child abuse by injury. Her case is expected to go to trial in January.

Being banned from Walmart is definitely not an achievement that one should be proud of. If one is banned, they
should probably maintain their distance from the ubiquitous
retailer, not assist with a larceny.
On July 22, a Chickasha police officer was dispatched to
the store in reference to a larceny in progress. According to
the affidavit, the officer was advised that two male suspects
had pushed out a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise,
including meat, beer and clothes.
The officer was also told that the suspects had driven away
from Walmart and were in the parking lot of a local hotel.
The officer arrived in the area and saw a vehicle that
matched the description of the suspects’ car. He looked inside the vehicle and saw
multiple packages of meat.
The officer ran the car’s license plate through dispatch and found that the vehicle belonged to 23-year-old Alice Marie Roughface of Anadarko. Police did not immediately
locate the suspects and the officer parked in a nearby parking lot to watch the vehicle.
A little bit later, a suspect walked up to the vehicle and entered it on the passenger
side. The officer drove up behind the vehicle and ordered a female subject, identified
as Roughface, out of the vehicle.
She agreed to speak to the office; when asked about the meat, she told the officer she
had been at Walmart picking up her WIC items.
She said the two guys she was with had committed the thefts, but refused to tell the
officer their names.
Roughface said the car belonged to her and admitted that she knew the items inside
were stolen. An inventory of the vehicle was conducted and approximately 99 items,
totaling an approximate $773 were recovered.
Roughface was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
Later, a Walmart manager told the officer that Roughface had been banned from all
Walmart locations due to a larceny she had committed in 2009.
Roughface is being charged with receiving stolen property and is being held on a
$2,500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 4, 2013.

TALKING TO OUR KIDS ABOUT
FITTING IN
Do your kids ever fret over the
fact that they “don’t fit in”? We all
feel this way at some point in our
lives. Being alone in a room full of
people is a scary thing. We all want
to belong; to fit in. It’s beyond
instinctive, it gives us the feeling
of safety and security–no matter
what our age. So, when our kids tell us that they don’t fit in, what
they could be saying is, “I’m scared because I don’t feel safe”.
Some kids really have a tough time fitting in for a variety of
reasons. Some kids are socially awkward, and don’t know how
to start a conversation with a peer. If your child struggles with a
physical or learning disability, chances are he/she feels isolated
from the rest of the class anyway. Whatever the reason is, simply
telling them that they really DO fit in, is not as helpful as you’d
expect.
Using God’s Word to Encourage Our Children
Being a Christian parent doesn’t make dealing with these tough
situations easier. But we DO have a resource to back up what we
tell our kids, and that’s God’s Word. When we actively listen to
the pain of our children feeling like they don’t belong or fit in, we
can do more than coach them in social skills (which may be a very
important tool). We can use God’s Word to encourage them even
in these struggles.
Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul
knows it very well.
I’ve found the world’s solutions to the many painful aspects of
not fitting in, being teased, or feeling isolated, are superficial at
best and not helpful at all. I mean, sticks and stones may definitely
break my bones–but words really CAN and DO hurt me!
Instead we must remind our children that God, who created
them and therefore knows every nuance of them, has a specific
plan and purpose for their lives. That HE thinks they are wonderful
and worthy of love AND friendship.
The Bible says:
Fitting in

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has
completed a preliminary report on the 2012 Index Crime
Trends. This report looks at
seven crimes the FBI considers serious. The FBI defines
“serious” as ones that would
occur regardless of geographical location, likely reported to
law enforcement, would affront the moral sensitivities of
our society’s rational being, and would occur with sufficient frequency so that counting it would be worthwhile statistically.
The preliminary report tracks murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault as violent crimes. It also studies burglary, larceny, and
auto theft as non-violent crimes. In 2012, as compared to statistics
from the previous year, reported rapes have shown a significant increase. Reported rapes increased nearly 15% from 2011. Aggravated
assault increased by nearly 4%, whereas the number of murders remained steady at 219, and robberies decreased. In the non-violent
crime category, auto theft increased by 4.8%, larceny increased by
2.9%, and the number of burglaries in the state decreased by more
than 2%.
More than 300 sheriff’s offices and police departments across
the state participated in this state-mandated program. This crime
report is helpful to law enforcement to track trends and, therefore,
assign more manpower to areas showing increases. It also aids departments applying for grants and other funding sources to combat
increases in specific areas of crime.
The full 2012 Oklahoma Uniform Crime Report is not complete. It
should be ready for publication in the next few months. OSBI UCR
Unit employees are busy verifying information before publication. Previous years’ reports can be found on the OSBI website at
www.ok.gov/osbi under publications.

A Colorado man was arrested after he
shot a gun outside of a Chickasha bar.
A deputy with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the bar on
July 22 in reference to a fight in progress
involving a gun. On the way to the bar, he
was advised that the subject had left the
scene.
The deputy saw a vehicle that matched
the description of the suspect’s truck.
According to the affidavit, the truck was
swerving and traveling down the middle
of the road. The deputy activated his emergency lights, but the truck kept going. The
driver finally stopped after the deputy activated his emergency siren.
The deputy ordered the driver, James Robert Pastorious, 30, to exit
the vehicle with his hands in the air.
Another officer arrived to assist and Pastorious was placed into
handcuffs. He told police, “It was self-defense, I wasn’t going to shoot
anybody.”
The deputy could smell alcohol on Pastorious’s breath, the man’s
speech was thick and slurred, and he was having trouble standing.
He admitted to drinking “a lot of beer,” but insisted he wasn’t
drunk.
The deputy determined that Pastorious was indeed intoxicated and
informed the man that he was under arrest for suspicion of driving
under the influence.
The officer found a loaded handgun in the backseat of Pastorious’s
truck.
Witnesses told police that they had been worried Pastorious was
going to cause trouble. The bartender said that Pastorious had told
her that he was going to kill someone and she had taken him outside
to talk.
When another man stepped outside, Pastorious reportedly took a
step back, chambered one round, which caused the live round that
was already in the chamber to fall to the ground, and said, “I’ll kill
every m----- f----- in here.”
Pastorious later agreed to speak to the deputy.
The deputy asked if he had taken the gun inside the bar and Pastorious replied, “Hell yeah, I use it for protection.” When the officer
asked if he had a concealed carry permit, the man replied, “F---you,
all I need is a bill of sale.”
Pastorious continued to insist that he had pulled the gun in selfdefense.
Pastorious is being charged with feloniously pointing a firearm,
discharging firearm into dwelling, carrying weapon where alcohol is
served and driving under the influence. His bond was set at $10,000
and he is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 4, 2013.
