Child remains located in Grady County amid search for Athena Brownfield

GRADY COUNTY, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has released a statement that authorities have recovered human remains just outside of Rush Springs.

OSBI cannot confirm if the remains are that of missing 4-year-old Athena Brownfield until the Medical Examiner’s Office in OKC releases its findings.

Alysia Adams, described as a relative and caretaker of Athena, confessed to authorities that on Christmas night she witnessed Ivon beating Athena to death at their home on West Nebraska Street.

After the gruesome assault, Ivon allegedly buried Athena in Rush Springs and placed a branch over her grave. (NBC News

According to reports, Athena and her 5-year-old sister were in Ivon and Alysia’s care for up to two years; however, the two girls were never enrolled in school or taken to the doctor during that period of time.
