JUSSIE SMOLLETT, STAR OF ‘EMPIRE’ SENTENCED TO 150 DAYS IN JAIL

CHICAGO, Ill.- Jussie Smollett, a former actor on the hit show Empire received his sentence Thursday night after falsely reporting being a victim of a hate crime attack in 2019. 

Smollett had reported that he was attacked, and believed it to be a hate crime. 

After police investigated, they found that the men who attacked Smollett were actually brothers the actor knew from working on the show Empire. Smollett hired and paid them to perform the attack. (CNN). 

“Smollett was found guilty on five counts of” felony disorderly conduct back in December. (NBCnews). 

He has been sentenced to 150 days in jail, as well as 30 months of felony probation. Smollett also has over $120,00 to pay in restitution and an additional $25,00 for making the false report. (5Chicago).
