A Hugo man was taken into custody after police found drugs and paraphernalia in his possession during a traffic stop on July 18.
At approximately 5:07 p.m., a Hugo police officer was traveling south on
Fifth near Jefferson Street when he saw a vehicle traveling north on Fifth.
The driver wasn’t wearing his seatbelt; the officer pulled the vehicle over
near Duke Street, according to the affidavit. The driver, 24-year-old Travis
Paul Lindsey, did not have a valid security verification card, and the officer
noticed that his eyes were red.
Another officer arrived to assist, and he walked his K9 around Lindsey’s vehicle. The K9
officer asked Lindsey and his passenger to exit the vehicle. Lindsey squeezed at a bulge in
his front pocket as he exited the vehicle. The bulge turned out to be a small baggy containing
a white crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for meth. Police also found a baggy
containing a green leafy substance and another one containing a white substance.
The officer placed Lindsey under arrest, and police searched his vehicle. They found a
green glass smoking device.
The passenger told police that they were coming from Soper and were headed to the 200
block of Bluff Street. The passenger was released at the scene. Lindsey, however, wasn’t so
lucky. He was transported to the Choctaw County Jail.
Lindsey is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance,
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to carry insurance verification form.
He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2014.

A Red Oak man learned a very important lesson on July 20 after was
locked up because police found drugs in his home.
You should listen to your wife and do what she says, because the wife
is always right.
According to the affidavit, Latimer County deputies went to the
home of Jimmy Dearl Raynor, 53, for a “knock and talk.” He had been
arrested the week before for marijuana possession.
Raynor answered the door and agreed to let the deputies search his
residence.
In a southeast bedroom that Raynor said was his room, the deputies
found a baggy containing a green leafy substance, a glass marijuana
pipe, cigarette rolling papers, a roach clip and a small hand-rolled cigarette containing a
green leafy substance. The green leafy substance later field-tested positive for marijuana.
When a deputy asked Raynor why he had marijuana in his house after being arrested for
marijuana the week before, Raynor replied, “I don’t know. My wife told me to get rid of it.”
Should’ve listened to her!
The deputies placed Raynor under arrest and handcuffed him once they were outside so his
grandchildren wouldn’t see him in handcuffs. En route to the jail, Raynor told a deputy that
he has old back and shoulder injuries that often bother him.
Maybe next time, he will do as his wife says.
Raynor is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a personal recognizance bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on August 7, 2014.
The wife is always right

An Atoka man and Durant woman were arrested in Pushmataha County July 23 after their suspicious behavior led a deputy to believe they had
drugs or other illegal items in the vehicle.
He was right.
According to the affidavit, the deputy pulled over the vehicle on US 271
and SH3 because the vehicle crossed the center lane a couple of times.
When he made contact with the driver, Eric Lynn Long, 33, he told Long
that his tag had expired. Long became excited and told the deputy that his
vehicle wasn’t stolen and he had a bill of sale.
The change in Long’s demeanor seemed odd to the deputy, but he asked
Long to sit in his patrol car while he wrote him a ticket for the tag. He was
soon advised, however, that Long had a warrant for his arrest through
Pushmataha County and placed Long under arrest.
The deputy walked his K9 around the vehicle. The K9 alerted, and the
deputy asked the passenger, Barbara Diane Taylor, 27, to empty her pockets. She only had a pocket knife, but another officer found a baggy containing a white substance in Long’s pocket.
The deputy began searching the vehicle. In a purse, he found a baggy
containing a green leafy substance. He placed Taylor under arrest. She admitted that it was
her purse. The officer found a pill bottle in the purse containing a variety of pills.
In the vehicle, the deputy found a glass smoking device with a burnt residue, three bowls
with marijuana residue, rolling papers, four hand-rolled marijuana cigarettes, a straw and
vial with a white substance that tested positive for meth, and various other items of paraphernalia.
The deputy later discovered that Taylor had given him incorrect information about her
identity.
Long is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, displaying Oklahoma driver’s license after license canceled/suspended/revoked and failure to keep
right. No bond had been set at time of print, but Long is scheduled to appear in court on
August 27, 2014.
Taylor is being charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance,
falsely impersonate another to create liability, unlawful possession of controlled dangerous
substance without a prescription, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer. Her bond was set at $25,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on August
27, 2014.

Two McAlester women were arrested July 17
when an officer found more than 400 needles and 50
spoons with drug residue in their vehicle.
According to the affidavit, a McAlester police office
was traveling south on Main Street around 2:30 a.m.
when he noticed a vehicle in front of him; the vehicle’s high center mounted brake light wasn’t working.
The officer pulled over the vehicle and made contact
with the driver, 23-year-old Shannon Ruth Leflore.
Both Leflore and her passenger, Alexandrea Hughey,
20, told the officer they didn’t have driver’s licenses.
The officer checked their information and was
advised that Leflore had a warrant through the city
of McAlester. He placed her under arrest. He then
walked to the passenger side of the vehicle and had
Hughey step out of the car.
He noticed a small bag that appeared to have methamphetamine in it sitting in plain sight. He also noticed a large quantity
of needles in the floorboard and backseat. He placed Hughey under arrest along with her friend.
In the backseat, the officer found more than 300 used needles, 100
needles in a bottle, a needle full of a liquid substance under Hughey’s
seat and a needle full of liquid in the center console. He also found approximately 50 used spoons that had residue on them.
Once they were at the jail, the officer asked Leflore if she had any kind
of narcotics in her possession before they went into the jail. She told
him, “I don’t have s---.”
That was a lie. The jailer found four oxycodone pills on Leflore’s person.
Hughey is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous
substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in
court on July 31, 2014.
Leflore is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance, bringing contraband into jail, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with license suspended. She was released on a
$15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2014.

It’s hard to believe that this is
the 37th installment of Tips From
a Trooper! The 4th of July holiday always makes me thankful for
our service men and women, who fight for the freedoms we enjoy
in the greatest country on Earth!. On that note, I thought I would
just give some thoughts about the people who are out there serving
the public.
First of all, please thank a veteran. If you see one, just go up,
shake their hand, and thank them for their service. Regardless of
politics, those men and women did and still do sacrifice a lot for
their country, and each and every one of us. They didn’t ask to be
sent to war, they didn’t get to pick or chose which war they were
sent to fight in, but they did their duty. They deserve our respect.
Next, lets move on to the men and women who are serving the
public on a daily basis. Emergency first responders are by and
large some of the finest men and women there are. None of us
got into our professions to get rich, we are here because it was a
calling. That calling may have been law enforcement, firefighter,
EMT, Paramedic, dispatcher, or any of the numerous medical
fields. All of these people are driven by the need to serve, to help,
to do their part in making the world a better place. In exchange
for the privilege to serve, we are rewarded with long days, call
outs in the middle of the night, a ton of interrupted meals, and
the real possibility of missing some of our family’s very important
events. This is not a gripe, this is reality for us. To be quite honest,
we wouldn’t have it any other way!
We also get lumped in with the bad apples when one of our
profession makes the media in a bad way. Please remember that the
media only runs the sensational news. “Trooper Changes Flat Tire
for Elderly Couple” or “Fire Department holds free Child Restraint
Inspections” are not ever going to make it into the news, although
it happens every day. I make no excuses for the men and women in
our profession who do make the news in a bad way, they made their
choices, and there are some bad apples in every profession. Please
remember that, and know that the 99% of us that are doing the
right thing every day, are just as upset about those headlines as you
are, and don’t want or deserve to be lumped in with them.
For my part, I would like to thank each and every one of the men
and women who I work with on crash scenes, DUI arrests, agency
assists, and all the other calls we go on every day. It is my privilege
to not only get to serve the public, but to work with each and every
one of you! Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

An Anadarko woman was arrested for hiding drugs where she probably thought
was a very good hiding spot.
Fortunately for police, she gave up the location early and didn’t make them play
hide and seek.
According to the affidavit, a Chickasha officer stopped a vehicle at 4:35 a.m. July
6 because the vehicle had a broken windshield and improper tag light. It was a
long time before the driver pulled over, and the officer suspected that the vehicle’s
occupants were hiding something.
The officer recognized the driver of the vehicle as a man currently on bond for
meth distribution charges. The passenger was 58-year-old Vicki Dale Plunk.
The officer asked Plunk why it took so long for them to pull over.
He was about to get an answer he didn’t want.
According to the affidavit, the officer could tell Plunk knew he was going to find
drugs on her. He was, but he probably wasn’t expecting them to be where they were.
Plunk told the officers she would just get the drugs so they didn’t have to search
for them.
After she told him she had methamphetamine stuffed up inside of her, the officers were probably extremely
grateful.
Plunk stepped out of the car and removed the items from her, ahem, lady parts.
Inside one of the baggies (yes, there were more than one…impressive, huh?), there was a white crystal-like
substance. Police also found a digital scale in the vehicle.
Thank God that wasn’t up there, too!
A warrant check revealed that Plunk had a valid warrant in Grady County. An officer transported Plunk to the
Grady County Jail.
Plunk is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 30, 2014.

Chips, soda, candy bars…and a
woman with no underwear flashing
people.
Customers and employees got a
little more than they bargained for at
a Eufaula Love’s on July 10.
Del City woman Misty Lynn Redden, 33, was arrested for acting crazy
at the convenience store. According
to the affidavit, a Eufaula officer was
dispatched to a convenience store in
the 1600 block of Birkes Road because Redden was causing a disturbance after she had been asked to
leave earlier. Even though employees
had told her not to come back, Redden rebelled and returned.
When the officer arrived, he saw Redden leaving the store. She was
wearing a long shirt with no underwear on and flip flops. The officer
thought she appeared to be under the influence of some kind of drug.
His suspicious were reinforced when she told him that her head had
been blown off three times and she came back. She also told him
she was the devil and she was having conversations with invisible
people. Redden added that there were invisible people watching her
and it was real.
The manager told the officer Redden had come back into the store
after employees told her to leave earlier and was “causing a disturbance again.”
He said she was lifting up her shirt exposing herself to customers.
She was also approaching customers and, according to the manager,
“scaring a lot of people in the store.”
Redden is being charged with trespassing after being forbidden
and outraging public decency. She was released on a $1,000 bond
and is scheduled to appear in court on September 26, 2014.

A concerned citizen of Six Mile, South Carolina, contacted police after spotting Tracy Nadine Ellenburg erratically drunk-riding a stolen stallion down the middle
of Main Street (the citizen’s ability to distinguish between
drunken and sober horseback riding should have been
immediately commended). Ellenburg had parked her
horse before police arrived, but the officer on scene was
able to locate it anyway, because it was the only horse
tied to a bench outside a convenience store. The officer
confronted Ellenburg, who stank of alcohol, swayed and
slurred her defiant insistence that she was sober, which
you may recognize as a level of drunkenness so spectacular that people mimic it when they are pretending to
be drunk. Regardless, not only did Ellenburg deny any
wrongdoing, she actually blamed the horse, which, if you
remember from before, was stolen. She declared that the
horse was drunk, not her, and therefore the horse was at
fault for the erratic riding. The police, not appreciating
having witnessed one of the seven wonders of the drunken excuse world, cited Ellenburg for disorderly conduct.
A woman in St. Paul, Minnesota, was tucking her children into bed when she heard a noise somewhere in her
house. Going downstairs to investigate, she spotted a
man and a woman running full-tilt out the back door.
The woman chased after the intruders and found them
loading bags of her stuff onto their bicycles. They were
thwarted hilariously when a neighbor blocked them in
with his car and called the police. The thieves, Charles
and Pernella Bull, had attempted to make off with a laptop, a desktop computer, a toolbox, the woman’s purse
and a few other odds and ends. On their bicycles. We cannot stress this enough. When questioned, Mrs. Bull said
that a friend had told her that the address was listed as a
“free house” on Craigslist, which meant that the owners
were moving out in a hurry, so anyone was free to just
show up and take whatever they wanted. Mrs. Bull said
she had called out to ask if anyone was there when she
walked into the house (you know, the house with all the
lights on and a purse sitting on the counter), but when
no one answered, she figured it was vacant and starting
loading up the bicycles. The police weren’t able to find
the alleged “free house” listing on Craigslist, most likely
because at no point in the course of human history had it
ever existed, so the Bulls were arrested.
As Lee Solarski was tooling along one day, he crashed
his car into both a mailbox and a pickup truck, as one
does. Being a responsible citizen, he immediately drove
away, not realizing that a witness had written down
his license plate number. When the police tracked him
down, Solarski explained that he’d crashed because his
passenger had a tarantula in the car with them. The tarantula had gotten loose and was biting Solarski, causing
him to lose control of the car during the attack. To his
credit, we admit a rampaging tarantula would be enough
of a reason to crash anything. The police searched the
car but didn’t find the offending spider, which we figure
came as a relief to whichever officer drew search-the-carfor-a-secret-tarantula duty. After a similarly thorough
search of Solarski failed to produce any spider bites, he
was arrested.

Police arrested a Stigler man on July 14,
after the man allegedly assaulted his wife
while in the presence of their daughter.
According to the affidavit, a Haskell
County deputy was dispatched to CR 4415
around 8 p.m.
When he arrived, a woman told him
that her husband, Eric Christopher Keith,
30, had assaulted her while she was holding their daughter. She appeared to be
very upset and had a hard time telling the
deputy what happened without crying.
She said that this wasn’t the first domestic incident. She told the deputy that a few weeks prior, Keith held a
gun to her chest and years ago, he beat her up when she discovered
he was using drugs.
Around 9:30 p.m., the deputy received a call that Keith was at a
residence on N CR 4415. When he arrived, a woman told him her
dad had told Keith to leave, and he took off walking southbound on
CR 4415.
When the officer located him, Keith immediately started acting
erratically. He dropped everything in his arms and cleared out his
pockets. He was sweating profusely and seemed to be panicking. He
kept telling the deputy, “I didn’t hit her,” and “she’s lying to you.”
Keith was carrying a plastic bag of fireworks that he said he was
taking to his daughter.
The deputy placed him under arrest and transported him to jail.
En route to the Haskell County Jail, Keith told the deputy that
he was currently serving a deferred sentence for a prior domestic
between him and his wife.
Keith is being charged with domestic assault and battery in presence of minor and threaten to perform an act of violence. He was
released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on
July 29, 2014.

John 10:10: “The thief cometh not, but
for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I
am come that they might have light, and
that they might have it more abundantly.”
The thief Jesus is referring to in this
scripture is Satan himself. The Lord
contrasts the work of the devil as stealing,
killing, and destroying, while the work
of the Lord is to bring abundant life to
His people. Notice that the thief doesn’t
stop at one sin of stealing, but rather
progresses on to kill and destroy.
Many people do not realize that what
they think as just taking seemingly little things can lead to taking bigger
things and ultimately one becomes a thief. The “little fox” of stealing
towels from the motel, shoplifting small items, keeping things that do not
belong to them, can lead to a dangerous pattern which could eventually
lead to one being imprisoned for theft.
Shoplifting alone costs our businesses enormous amounts of money
which causes to have to pay higher prices for goods. When a nation stoops
to thievery in any form, it hurts all the people.
in recent news articles, we have seen how thievery on the national level
has jeopardized the safety of our whole country because of people stealing
our national secrets and selling them to our potential enemies. We pray
for this element of sin in our society to be removed.
We, as Christians, know this can only happen through the Lord changing
men’s hearts and giving them power over sin in their lives. We pray for
revival in our nation so that honor and honesty will prevail in our national
life.
We must also check our own lives to see if we are failing God by yielding
to stealing and cheating.

Not Broken Bow man Joseph Eric Rowan, 26. He was arrested on July 13 after he
admitted to stabbing a man with a kitchen
knife because he was tired of being home
alone.
According to the affidavit, a McCurtain
County deputy was dispatched to a cabin
in Hochatown in reference to a man being
stabbed. When he arrived at the scene, he
saw Rowan sitting outside the cabin with
blood all over his face and clothes.
Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to the hospital.
Rowan, at first, told the deputy that he hit the victim with a rock because he called him a faggot. He said he didn’t know the victim, but it
just made him mad that the guy used a “racial comment” toward him.
The deputy took Rowan to jail.
The deputy then went to the hospital to question the victim. He
said he had been drinking all night and went to sit in the hot tub. He
said he was hit over the head twice and it felt like he was stabbed in
the head. He said he asked the suspect, “Why are you doing this?”
He said he then ran into the back door of the cabin, and one of his
friends was able to tackle Rowan and hold him until police arrived.
The deputy had found a bloody kitchen knife near the hot tub.
Police spoke to Rowan later that day, and he told them he had been
drinking and hanging out with friends earlier that day. He said he
went to a friend’s house, but she fell asleep, so he started calling other
people to come over and visit. When no one would come over, he said
he became angry and grabbed a knife out of the kitchen. He told police he left the house driving in his gator with the intention of hurting
someone. He saw a guy sitting in a hot tub, and he said he walked up
behind him and struck him twice in the head with the knife.
Rowan is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon. He was released on a $15,000 and is scheduled to appear in
court on August 14, 2014.

A Coalgate officer and a state trooper arrested two people for
drugs and paraphernalia on July 19 during a driver’s license check.
According to the affidavit, Purcell woman Jaci Linn Bateman,
20, and Rodney Young, 22, were taken into custody after police
smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside their vehicle.
Young admitted that he and the other passengers had been smoking. He gave police a small bag containing a green leafy substance
that field-tested positive for marijuana.
Young told police he had smoked the marijuana from a pipe and
it was in the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, an officer found a tube with a white
powder residue in Bateman’s purse. She told him she had found it
in the floorboard of the vehicle and put it in her purse. At first, she
told the officer she didn’t know what the residue was, but she later
admitted that it was methamphetamine.
Bateman smelled like alcohol, but she insisted she hadn’t drank
anything although she was seated next to 6 full cans of a 12-pack
of beer.
Both subjects were taken to jail, and as the officer walked Bateman into jail, he told her that if she had anything illegal on her
person, it would be a separate charge if she didn’t tell him.
She said she had a “small ball” and pointed at her groin area.
When asked what she meant, she said it was inside of her. When
a dispatcher asked her where, she told them it was in her vagina.
During a strip search, a small cylindrical container was found.
Inside, there was a small piece of cotton ball that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Young is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $ 2,523 bond and was scheduled to
appear in court on July 21, 2014.
Bateman is being charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a $11,500 bond and is scheduled to
appear in court on August 7, 2014.
