DAMAGE DONE
An Earlsboro man who was found guilty of child
sexual crimes was sentenced to 30 years in prison
and ordered to pay $12,000 in restitution to his victims.
Alexander William Santiago, 26, of Earlsboro, has
been sentenced to serve 30 years in federal prison
for sexual exploitation of a child and possession of
child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Robert
J. Troester.
On March 9, 2023, a federal grand jury returned a
Superseding Indictment against Santiago, charging him with sexual exploitation of a
child and possession of child pornography.
In April 2023, Santiago was tried by a federal jury and found guilty on both counts.
Evidence presented at trial indicated that in July 2021, authorities with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office became aware of Santiago sexually abusing a minor.
Following Santiago’s arrest, agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)
executed a federal search warrant of his cell phone and discovered thousands of
images and videos depicting child pornography, including images that Mr. Santiago
produced using the minor he had sexually abused.
“The stiff punishment cannot undo the damage done to the innocent child victims,
but it will certainly keep this defendant from harming other children,” said U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester. “This sentence should also serve as a warning to those who
seek to sexually exploit children that such despicable behavior will not be tolerated in
a civilized society. I commend law enforcement and the prosecutors who work these
difficult and challenging cases.”
“This sentence is proof that this defendant’s deviant behavior of victimizing children will not go unpunished,“ said Robert Melton, Assistant Special Agent in Charge,
HSI Dallas - Oklahoma, and Texas Panhandle Division. “Thanks to the assistance of
the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, this predator is behind bars, preventing
him from ever abusing a child ever again.”
At the sentencing hearing on January 26, 2024, U.S. District Judge Patrick R.
Wyrick sentenced Santiago to serve 30 years in federal prison, followed by supervised release for life, and $12,000 in restitution. Judge Wyrick also ordered Santiago
to pay $16,700.00 in special assessments to funds that assist victims of sexual
exploitation. In announcing his sentence, Judge Wyrick noted the “vile, horrifying”
images found on Santiago’s phone, adding that “our most vulnerable members of
society were taken advantage of” as a result of Santiago’s actions.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money
or favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting officer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
Thank you and God Bless

FROM THE SHERIFF
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office continues
to be proactive. Going after drug traffickers bringing illegal narcotics into our County or through
our County to other locations here in Oklahoma,
Texas and beyond. I have continued to invest in
my Deputies, making sure they have the best advanced training in criminal Interdiction and more. One of the weakness points of
any criminal organization is when they are in transit. Fostering an aggressive and
proactive atmosphere in going after criminals and protecting our good citizens is
something we will never apologize for.
In a world where law enforcement has been demoralized and vilified, we enjoy
overwhelming support from our wonderful citizens here in Johnston County. Our
Citizens want law and order, they don’t adhere to the new political soft on crime
agenda. Our Citizens want safe neighborhoods and communities where drugs
dealers and users haven’t taken over and crime runs rampant. Methamphetamine, Cocaine, black market marijuana, fentanyl, felons with guns, you name
it, we’re finding it. We continue to remain relentless in our pursuit to protect our
Citizens, Johnston County, Oklahoma and beyond.
I am also very proud to have written an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
creating the Texoma Sheriff’s Task Force. Sheriff Cumberledge at the Love County Sheriff’s Office has already signed on!!! The Marshall and Bryan County Sheriff’s are reviewing the MOU and will hopefully sign on very soon. This Task Force
focuses on the Texoma area Sheriff’s sharing resources and personnel. Activity
going after criminals throughout Southern Oklahoma, seamlessly responding to
calls, operations within our different counties and combining forces to make
Texoma and Southern Oklahoma a safer place for us all.

A Holdenville man was sentenced last month
for stabbing a man repeatedly while the man was
sleeping.
Michael David Patton, 31, of Holdenville, was
sentenced to 210 months in prison for one count
of Murder in Indian Country—Second Degree.
The charges arose from investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
the Seminole Lighthorse Police Department, and the Seminole County Sheriff’s
Office.
On February 22, 2023, Patton pleaded guilty to Murder in Indian Country—
Second Degree.
According to investigators, on October 19, 2022, Patton entered a Wewoka
residence by force, and stabbed the sleeping victim over ten times. EMS responders transported the victim to an area hospital where he later died of his
injuries.
The crime occurred in Seminole County, within the boundaries of the Seminole
Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
“The diligence and fairness of the legal process has guaranteed Michael Patton will be held accountable for this senseless act of violence,” said FBI Oklahoma City Special Agent in Charge Edward J. Gray. “I hope this well-deserved
prison sentence will bring some measure of closure to the victim’s family. The FBI
and our law enforcement partners will never stop working to ensure those who
cause harm in our communities are brought to justice.”
“I commend the coordinated investigative efforts of local, tribal, and federal law enforcement in this case,” said United States Attorney Christopher J.
Wilson. “Due to their efforts, federal prosecutors were able to pursue criminal
charges against Michael Patton and he now faces the just consequences of his
heinous act.”
Patton will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to
a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable
sentence of incarceration.
AROUND THE NATION
Colorado burglar busted after using Uber as getaway car for $8K plumbing tool heist
A Colorado crook carrying thousands of dollars
of stolen merchandise walked right into the police’s hands after he was caught trying to use an Uber as a getaway car, cops
said.
The bungling burglar was ransacking a plumbing store in the Denver suburbs
last week when he called the rideshare driver to pick him up.
The store owner had called 911 after noticing a hole cut in the business’ fencing and caught surveillance footage of the thief inside.
When the local Wheat Ridge police arrived on the scene, they discovered the
Uber driver waiting nearby.
He told cops his passenger “Jose” was headed right toward the car.“Are you
looking for an Uber?” an officer can be heard asking the suspect in bodycam
footage shared by the department.
The man — wearing the hood of his black sweatshirt up and a pulled-down
balaclava — shoots his gaze sideways and hides his hands inside his pockets.“Uh — no,” he stammers. He then gives the officers the fake name “Raul” as
he takes several steps backward and away from the cops.
He was immediately grabbed by officers, but assures them he is not trying to
make a break for it.Jose doubles down on his innocence and claims he is simply
on his way to his mother’s house.
When told he matches the description of the thief, he maintains he is not the
man they are looking for, despite not carrying identification to prove he is “Raul.”
The contents of his backpack, however, exposed the thin charade.“This backpack is full of Milwaukee tools,” one officer can be heard saying while rifling
through the loot.
Inside, cops found more than $8,600 worth of electric tools.
He was taken into custody, where fingerprint scanners confirmed his real identity.“It may not be the best idea to have an Uber pick you up AT the crime scene,”
Wheat Ridge Police said on social media.
A 26-year-old man by the name of Jose was booked the following day on a
plethora of charges, including theft of more than $2,000, criminal trespassing
and false reporting to authorities, court records show.

JUSTICE IS FINALLY
SERVED
Justice for the murder of East Central University
student Rachel Woodall has finally been permanently served.
Her killer, Tyler Jay Mullins, 45, of Ada, was sentenced to concurrent life sentences in prison for one
count of Murder in Indian Country—First Degree, and one count of Causing the
Death of a Person in the Course of a Violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(c).
The charges arose from investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of
the State of Oklahoma, and the Ada Police Department.
On June 30, 2022, Mullins was found guilty by a federal jury of one count of Murder in Indian Country—First Degree, and one count of using a firearm to commit
that murder. Evidence presented at trial established that in the early morning hours
of April 20, 2002, Mullins attacked and beat the victim, transported the victim to
another location, then shot the victim three times and buried the body. Oklahoma
State Bureau of Investigation agents found the victim’s blood in Mullins’ trunk and
on his shoe, leading to Mullins’ eventual confession and disclosure of the location of
the victim’s body.
The crimes occurred in Pontotoc and Seminole Counties, within the boundaries
of the Chickasaw Nation Reservation and the Seminole Nation Reservation, in the
Eastern District of Oklahoma. Mullins originally entered a guilty plea to a state district
court charge of First Degree Murder in Pontotoc County District Court in December
2002. That conviction was vacated in March 2021 based on the United States Supreme Court decision in McGirt v. Oklahoma, handed down in July 2020.
“Although the pursuit of justice for the victim’s family was interrupted by a change
in jurisdiction, the cooperative work of state and federal law enforcement allowed the
United States Attorney’s Office to successfully prosecute the case after more than
twenty years,” said United States Attorney Christopher J. Wilson. “The sentences
imposed in federal prison now ensure the defendant will spend the rest of his life
answering for his heinous crimes.”
Mullins will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to
a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable
sentence of incarceration.

MORE TROUBLE IN
WEWOKA
On January 17, 2024, the Wewoka Police Department requested the Oklahoma State Bureau
of Investigation to assist with a homicide.
Just before 6:00 p.m. that evening, Wewoka
police officers responded to a residence near South Hitchite Avenue and
West Ninth Street in Wewoka. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered 21-year-old Andrew Faulkner, who had suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. Faulkner was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
This is still an ongoing investigation at this time. Upon conclusion, OSBI
special agents will provide their comprehensive report to the Seminole County District Attorney’s Office for review.

''THE JUST
CONSEQUENCES OF
HIS HEINOUS ACT""
