A man was arrested after throwing a brick into
the plexiglas window of a jewelry store...the brick
bounced back, hit him in the head and knocked
him cold until the police got there.
Police interrogated a suspect by placing a metal
colander on his head and connecting it with wires
to a photocopy machine. The message “He’s lying” was placed in the copier, and police pressed
the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn’t telling the truth. Believing the “lie detector” was working, the suspect confessed.
Burglars in Maryland tried to cut through a safe
using a Laser Tag gun.
When two service station attendants refused
to hand over the cash to an intoxicated robber,
the man threatened to call the police. They still
refused, so the robber called the police and was
arrested.
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a
robbery suspect who just couldn’t control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each
man in the lineup to repeat the words, “Give me
all your money or I’ll shoot,” the man shouted,
“That’s not what I said!”
In a small town of 1700, a student attempted to

An active warrant is still in effect for
a Stephens County woman accused of
torching a house in Duncan. Her accomplice, Jeramie Stevenson, 31, turned
himself in to authorities on March 13.
According to Oklahoma State Fire
Marshal Judah Sheppard’s report on
the fire, evidence shows Katie Pennington, 31, was one of two people who had
possibly caused a fire back in Jan. 24 at
314 W. Willow.
Witnesses told Sheppard they saw
Pennington and Stevenson at the house
loaded down with bags full of items,
and about 20 minutes after they left,
saw smoke and flames coming from the
house.
Sheppard discovered signs of forced
entry to the front door, locked cabinet
doors, and dresser drawers had been
ransacked through. He also discovered
someone may have been living there,
even though no utilities were connected
to the house and it did not have current insurance. Personal property such
as furniture, photographs and clothing
were also found inside.
In his affidavit, Sheppard said he believed the cause of the fire was the ignition of available fuel source
materials on the interior east central wall and west central wall of the
living room and the mattress springs located in the central hallway
between the north and south bedrooms.
Stevenson is being held in the Stephens County Jail on a $100,000
bond. If you know the whereabouts of Katie Pennington, aka Cox,
aka Allen, please call the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office at (580)
255-3131.

unsolved Cases
On March 6, agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau
of Investigation arrested a homicide suspect in a nearly
fi ve-year-old case from Beckman County. Armed
with a fi rst degree murder warrant, agents traveled to
Amarillo, Texas, and arrested Gordon Myson Splinter,
II, 35. Splinter is accused of killing 35-year-old Michael
Smith on April 29, 2008, outside Smith’s home at 400
East Plum in Erick.
The Beckham County Sheriff ’s Offi ce requested
OSBI assistance with the case. Agents worked with deputies for months
until it became cold. Approximately a year ago during an annual review of
the case, agents identifi ed new leads. Those leads helped establish probable
cause for an arrest.
The OSBI investigation revealed numerous people who identifi ed Splinter
as being in the area and running from the area where Smith was shot in the
chest. Smith died at the Sayre Memorial Hospital. The weapon used was a
270 caliber rifl e. A projectile from a 270 caliber rifl e was found at the crime
scene as well as inside Splinter’s home.
With the assistance of Texas Rangers, Splinter was arrested without
incident at his Amarillo home, 3706 S. Harrison that evening. He was booked
into the Randall County Jail and will be extradited to Beckham County to
face the murder charge.

Stephens County deputies were
forced to interrupt a secret mission
after the “undercover agent” assaulted another man reading his Bible.
Jimmie JD Jennings, 38, of Marlow, was charged Feb. 27 with felony
assault and battery upon a police officer. He was also arrested on a complaint of domestic assault and battery, but no charges have been filed
yet.
Deputy Josh Seely was called to a
home outside of Marlow. When he
arrived, a man, Jennings, came out
of the house in an aggressive manner. He yelled at Seely that he was an undercover agent and the
deputy was infringing on his property, according to the affidavit.
Just then, another man stepped out of the house and told the
deputy he needed help and wanted Jennings gone. Despite warnings from the deputy, Jennings kept getting closer and closer to
him, acting aggressive. Finally, Jennings got close enough to the
deputy to grab his shoulder, and it was on.
Seely pushed Jennings off him, but Jennings came back, so
Seely was forced to draw his taser. Again, he told Jennings to stay
back. The sight of the taser stopped Jennings, but then he stated
he was not going to jail and took off running. Seely gave chase. A
short distance away Jennings stopped running, turned around,
curled his fists, and stood in an aggressive stance. Seely deployed
his taser. Needless to say, Jennings did not move until backup arrived. He was then cuffed and taken to the Stephens County Jail.
Once Jennings was hauled away, the victim said he was in his
room reading his Bible when Jennings came in and started yelling
at him. An altercation then broke out between the two and Jennings assaulted him.

SMITH
A Duncan fugitive was taken into custody
after officers spotted him riding around in a
pickup truck with his friends.
Duncan Police Lt. John Webb spotted Zackary Smith, 27, while he was on routine patrol
on March 1. He knew Smith had an outstanding warrant, and that he had a tendency to run
from the law.
Webb activated his emergency lights and the
truck pulled over a short distance away. Webb
immediately went to the passenger side of the
truck, opened the door and told Smith he was under arrest. Smith
immediately tried to get away and reached for something in between
the seats. Webb was forced to tase him twice.
Even cuffed and in the patrol car, Smith struggled to free himself.
At the Stephens County Jail, staff had to restrain him against a wall
because of his combativeness.
A search of the vehicle revealed a .22 caliber Jennings pistol loaded
with six rounds. A witness said Smith had pulled the gun from his
person and stashed it between the seats.
Bond was set for Smith at $10,000. He was ordered back to court
April 12.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol
Remember that Clint Eastwood
movie where everyone is waiting
for the other person to move, and
it just keeps cutting from one
to the other, and it takes forever and finally someone starts the
action? Ever felt like that sitting at a four-way stop, waiting to see
who’s going to go, or if its your turn? Or maybe you know its not
your turn, but the other driver wants to wave you through, even
though if they would have went when they were supposed to, the
whole thing would have went so much smoother? I see this situation
play out almost every day, so I thought I would touch on the laws
that govern it.
Generally, the issue that holds everyone up at a four-way stop
intersection is the issue of right-of-way. This issue is covered in
Oklahoma State Statute Title 47:11-403. I’m going to try and sum
it up for you. Any driver who approaches an intersection shall stop
as required, and after having stopped, shall yield the right-of-way
to any vehicle which has entered the intersection from another
roadway. Now there is more to that statute, but it deals with traffic
approaching that does not have a stop sign, so we’ll stick with
this. Everyone knows they have to stop, but its who has the rightof-way after everyone has stopped that is the issue.
If you have stopped, and another vehicle has approached the
intersection at approximately the same time opposite you, coming
towards you, and does not have a signal on to turn left, then there
really isn’t an issue. Both vehicles can proceed on since they are
going on in opposite directions, and are not turning. If one of you are
turning left, then the vehicle turning left must yield, because of the
statute that governs left turns in front of oncoming traffic. This one
gets most of the confusion going, because it always seems like the
person who isn’t turning left wants to be the nice person and wave
the other through. This holds up traffic, and isn’t necessary! Right
turns in this situation aren’t an issue because you aren’t crossing
over the other person’s lane of travel.
The next issue is when two or more vehicles meet at approximately
the same time, but are coming from different roadways. In this
case, the vehicle on the right has the right-of-way. If you aren’t the
vehicle on the right, you must yield. This situation also gets a few
people trying to wave the other through, and again, is not necessary
and usually results in holding traffic up!
Four way stops can be frustrating. Hopefully, these tips will help
you in that instance. If you are one of the people waving everyone
through, please remember, the most courteous thing you can do is
to follow the law, yield when you should, and go when you have the
right-of-way!
Thanks for reading, buckle up, and be safe!

OK Jailbirds is cooperating with the efforts of Oklahoma
Department of Human Services to impact the huge social
problem of irresponsible parents who are not paying the
child supports ordered by our courts.
If these biological-only parents won’t honor the courts
order, perhaps public shame will get their attention.
If you know how to reach any of the Deadbeat Parents found on this page, please call the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
Child Support HotLine at 1-800-522-8014
It’s ALL about the KIDS!
Importance of Child Support
Children are our future and child support helps make sure they have a chance at a
productive life. Children have the right to get support from both parents and do not
lose this right when a parent leaves the home.
When children do not receive child support, they can:
Suffer both Emotionally and Physically
Live within a Reduced Standard of Living
Have their Basic Needs Unmet
Become Non-Supportive when they become Parents.
When one or both parents do not support their children, taxpayers often pay the cost
of raising children. When children receive public assistance and their parents pay no
child support, all taxpayers bear the cost of supporting the children.

A former McLoud teacher who admitted to taking sexually
inappropriate photos of young girls, some her own students, wants a
judge to consider probation.
In a written letter submitted to the court, Kimberly Crain blamed
depression, menopause, a persuasive online love interest, an
emotionally absent husband and even hypnosis for her crime.
The former elementary school teacher detailed a timeline of events
that prompted her to plead guilty to manufacturing and distributing
child pornography and to lewd molestation. Crain makes an attempt
to reason with the court as to why she took sexually explicit snapshots
of girls in her class and then emailed or Skyped them to her online
love, Gary Doby, a professor living in Pennsylvania.
“I found myself giving in to all he wanted,” Crain said. “...I wanted to continue to keep him
happy.”
Crain eventually invited several girls to help her decorate her classroom before the 2011-12
school year. The students were invited to her house to eat pizza, and they were taped as they
changed clothes.
“I took some candid snapshots as they played and ate,” Crain wrote. She emailed those photos
to Doby.
SERIOUSLY? SHE BLAMES MENOPAUSE?

DUI/ ELUDING POLICE OFFICER
A vigilant Chickasha police officer
used his experience to catch an Anadarko woman who was hiding drugs in her
privates March 4.
Just after 12:20 a.m. that day, officer David Harper- Head was patrolling
northbound on the 900 block of North
9th Street, when he saw a gray Silverado fail to give proper notice before
making a turn. He pulled the car over
and confronted Robert Pyle, who had
two female passengers with him.
The first one, who wasn’t arrested,
said she didn’t have an ID with her. A check of the second woman, Stephanie Eldridge, 31,
revealed she is on parole for a methamphetamine conviction. Pyle was on parole for multiple
drug convictions, Harper-Head said.
Pyle denied having anything illegal with him, but he did admit to being on parole for convictions from Oklahoma and Comanche counties. He gave the officer consent to search the
vehicle.
When Harper-Head started looking, he found two small plastic bags with methamphetamine inside of them. He confronted Eldridge and Pyle with the evidence, but both denied
ownership of the drug. He then went back to the vehicle and found a hypodermic needle with
liquid inside.
At that point, Eldridge said there was contraband inside her, but that it belonged to Pyle.
He gave it to her just prior to their trip, she said. Eldridge also admitted she and Pyle shot up
meth and got high right before their drive.
Soon after, Eldridge pulled the contraband out of her crotch area. While this happened,
Harper-Head found a large bag of drugs and a spiral notepad detailing drug deals. The notepad had Pyle’s name written on it, according to the affidavit.
A search of the pair’s phones showed they made arrangements to see each other that day.
The pill bottle, which Eldridge had hidden in her private parts, had seven small plastic bags
of methamphetamine inside. Pyle denied telling Eldridge to hide the drugs there.
Pyle remains in custody on a $100,000 bond, but Eldridge is free on a $10,000 bond. Pyle
will appear in court at 1:30 p.m. April 10, and Eldridge has court set for 1:30 p.m. March 21.

Lesson one when dealing with
Chickasha police officers: don’t ask
them to check out your junk.
At 7:35 p.m. March 1, officer Brandon Sparks was dispatched to the
600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue
after receiving a disturbance report.
He arrived and spoke to a woman on
the scene, who said Jimmy Robertson, 27, was exposing himself to her.
She wanted him out of the house, so
she called police, she said.
When Sparks found Robertson,
he had his pants down, privates exposed. The officer asked Robertson to pull up his pants, but Robertson started shaking himself and said, “Look at my tiny white
penis.” Sparks again asked Robertson to pull up his pants, but
when he tried, Robertson fell to the floor. At that point, Sparks
realized Robertson was drunk, particularly when he came close
and smelled alcohol all over him.
Robertson, for his part, said he was so drunk because it was his
birthday. Two other officers came to the scene and helped Sparks
arrest Robertson for indecent exposure. The night wouldn’t end
so quietly, however.
Upon taking Robertson to the police cruiser, Robertson kicked
another officer in the groin. Two officers took Robertson to the
ground, which caused him to get a small cut on his forehead.
Once medical personnel cleared him, Robertson was booked on
an additional complaint of assault on a police officer.
Robertson has two convictions for concealing stolen property
from 2007, which earned him a five-year deferred prison sentence, according to his rap sheet.
Robertson is free on a $50,000 bond. He has court set for 1:30
p.m. April 10.

A Ninnekah man had some problems “letting go” on March 7, police
say.
In December, Roy Lee Fulton Jr.,
43, convinced a woman to come to
his home but would not let her leave,
Grady County Sheriff Jim Weir said
on the county’s Facebook page. Fulton kept the woman overnight and
held her at gunpoint, firing multiple
shots in the house to scare her, but let
her go the next day, Weir said.
“She goes out and gets in her car
and he takes away her cell phone,
throws it down and shoots it,” he said. “Then he shoots a hole in her
tire as she’s pulling away.”
Later, the woman obtained a protective order against Fulton.
When police tried to serve Fulton with the order, he refused initially,
but eventually he invited them into his home, where he admitted
shooting off rounds in the house, according to court records. Sheriff’s deputies found a bullet hole in the mattress, Weir said. He also
admitted shooting the cell phone.
A check of Fulton’s criminal history shows he is a party in 13 protective order cases, multiple times as the plaintiff and defendant. He
also has five divorce records and a conviction from the 1990s where
he and a friend unlawfully distributed marijuana to two women. In
that case, he pleaded guilty and received a two-year deferred sentence.
Fulton appeared in court March 8, where he received charges of
kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody on a $250,000 bond.
Fulton has a court date set for 9 a.m. March 29 and a preliminary
hearing conference set for 1:30 p.m. April 10.

John 10:10: “The thief cometh not,
but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they might have
light, and that they might have it more
abundantly.”
The thief Jesus is referring to in
this scripture is Satan himself. The
Lord contrasts the work of the devil as
stealing, killing, and destroying, while
the work of the Lord is to bring abundant
life to His people. Notice that the thief
doesn’t stop at one sin of stealing, but
rather progresses on to kill and destroy.
Many people do not realize that what
they think as just taking seemingly little
things can lead to taking bigger things
and ultimately one becomes a thief. The
“little fox” of stealing towels from the
motel, shoplifting small items, keeping
things that do not belong to them, can
lead to a dangerous pattern which could
eventually lead to one being imprisoned for theft.
Shoplifting alone costs our businesses enormous amounts of money which
causes to have to pay higher prices for goods. When a nation stoops to thievery
in any form, it hurts all the people.
in recent news articles, we have seen how thievery on the national level has
jeopardized the safety of our whole country because of people stealing our
national secrets and selling them to our potential enemies. We pray for this
element of sin in our society to be removed.
We, as Christians, know this can only happen through the Lord changing men’s
hearts and giving them power over sin in their lives. We pray for revival in our
nation so that honor and honesty will prevail in our national life.
We must also check our own lives to see if we are failing God by yielding to
stealing and cheating.

Legislation approved unanimously by the
Oklahoma House of Representatives would
aid in the recovery of missing children and
could help with law enforcement efforts to
curb sex trafficking, according to the bill’s author.
House Bill 2227, by state Rep. Joe Dorman,
would create a statewide runaway child alert
system to be activated on behalf of a missing or runaway child. The legislation was approved by a vote of 94-0 and now advances to
the state Senate.
“Although we have an Amber Alert system, that system has many restrictions and does not
address some instances when a child has gone missing,” said Dorman, D-Rush Springs. “According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, we see over 800,000 kids
annually reported missing nationwide, with about 200,000 of those proven to be abductions
by a family member and almost 58,000 abductions done by a person with no relation to the
child. This legislation will help with efforts to further curb sex trafficking and to locate missing children who are not covered by the existing Amber Alert system.”
State Rep. Harold Wright, a co-author, offered a successful amendment to the legislation,
renaming it after JaRay Wilson, a missing teenage girl who police believe was the victim of
human trafficking. The legislation will now be known as the JaRay Wilson Runaway Child
Alert System Act.
The legislation specifies that the system would be used when a law enforcement entity receives notice of a missing or runaway child age 17 or younger and verifies the accuracy of
the report. The bill encourages family members provide a photograph of the child, if one is
available, and that runaway child alerts be reported to the national crime information center
immediately. Alerts would be terminated as soon as the child is located or after the notification period ends, as determined by rules promulgated by the Oklahoma Department of Public
Safety.
“Families have contacted me to help them with out-of-state agencies regarding runaways,”
said Dorman. “I feel we have developed a program that could be a model for other states so
that we can get information distributed from state to state as quickly as possible in order
to get a child home before something harmful happens. Time is the most critical factor in
helping to locate and return a child to safety before they become a victim of sex trafficking or
murder.”
House Approves Bill to Aid Recovery
of Missing Children/Sex Trafficking

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize
that we each can play a part in promoting the social and emotional wellbeing of children and families in communities.
Parenting is one of the toughest and
most important jobs in America, and
we all have a stake in ensuring that
parents have access to the resources
and support they need to be successful. Entire communities play a role in helping families find the
strength they need to raise safe, healthy, and productive children.
Here are some things you can do:
Get to know your neighbors. Problems seem less overwhelming when support is nearby.
Help a family under stress. Offer to babysit, help with chores
and errands, or suggest resources in the community that can help.
Reach out to children in your community. A smile or a
word of encouragement can mean a lot, whether it comes from a
parent or a passing stranger.
Be an active community member. Lend a hand at local
schools, community or faith-based organizations, children’s hospitals, social service agencies, or other places where families and children are supported.
Keep your neighborhood safe. Start a Neighborhood Watch
or plan a local “National Night Out” community event. You will get
to know your neighbors while helping to keep your neighborhood
and children safe.
Learn how to recognize and report signs of child abuse
and neglect. Reporting your concerns may protect a child and get
help for a family who needs it.

On July 28, 1999, Paul Howell was fatally
shot in the driveway of his parents’ Edmond
home. Howell, his sister, and Howell’s two
young daughters had just returned from a
shopping trip in Howell’s Chevrolet Suburban.
Howell pulled into the driveway and turned
the engine off . As Howell’s sister exited the
front passenger side, she heard a gunshot. She
turned to see her brother slumped over the
driver’s seat, and a young black male, wearing
a white T-shirt, a stocking cap on his head, and bandana over
his face, demanding the keys to the vehicle. She then rushed to
get herself and Howell’s daughters out of the Suburban. As she
escorted the girls through the carport, she heard someone yelling
at her to stop, and then another gunshot. She got the girls inside
and called for help. Howell’s parents ran outside to fi nd their son
lying on the driveway. His vehicle was gone. Howell died a few
hours later from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Two days after the shooting, Oklahoma City police found
Howell’s Suburban parked near a convenience store on the
south side of town. The investigation led police to Jones’ parents’
Oklahoma City home.
After obtaining a warrant, police found a .25-caliber handgun,
wrapped in a red bandana, secreted in the attic through a hole
in a bedroom ceiling and found papers addressed to Jones in
the bedroom. Police also found a loaded, .25-caliber magazine,
hidden inside a wall-mounted door-chime housing. Further
investigation revealed that the bullet removed from Howell’s
head, and a bullet shot into the dashboard of the Suburban, were
fi red from the handgun found in the attic of the Jones home.
In 2002, a jury found Jones guilty of Howell’s murder and
recommended death. At his sentencing, the judge sentenced
Jones in accordance with the jury’s verdicts.
