An El Reno woman has been
charged with first degree murder in
the death of a toddler she had been
caring for.
Lesley Hendrix, 32, was denied
bond at her initial appearance on
January 27.
According to court records, Hendrix frantically called 911 back in
November, 2015 about an unresponsive toddler girl she was babysitting. When police and paramedic arrived, the child was rushed to
Mercy Hospital in El Reno, where
she later died.
Doctors told police the girl died of a brain bleed that only
could have happened while in Hendrix’s care.
The medical examiner reported the child’s death a homicide
as a result of a sub-dermal hematoma due to blunt force trauma.
Hendrix’s preliminary hearing is set for February 26, 2016, at
1:30 p.m.

February Is Teen Dating Violence
Awareness and Prevention Month
During this month, and at all times, parents need to be aware of
the issue of teen dating violence. For as much as domestic violence
among adults is an issue that is too often not discussed -- and too often kept a secret by the victim -- teen dating violence is even less discussed, and even less reported by victims. Nevertheless, in a recent
survey of over 4,000 9th through 12th graders, one in five reported
being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.
The sad fact is that two out of three teens in an abusive relationship
don’t ever tell anyone about the abuse. For girls, when they experience serious sexual abuse they only report it to an authority figure six
percent of the time. This makes it very difficult to know when your
teen has become a victim of dating violence.
Still, there are warning signs that every parent and teacher can and
should look for. Because teenage years are difficult (and secretive)
enough as it is, it’s important to be aware of these warning signs, and
to approach your teen in a way that will make them feel comfortable
talking with you.

convicted of murder and
sentenced to die in 2003 for
the 1997 beating death of
Albert Hale, 73. Authorities
said Coddington beat Hale
on the head with a hammer
because Hale wouldn’t give
him money to buy drugs.
The appeals court
overturned Coddington’s original death sentence, but a
diff erent jury imposed another death sentence in 2008.
The court’s opinion said jurors at Coddington’s second
sentencing trial found that Hales’ death was atrocious
and cruel and that Coddington posed a continuing threat
to society.
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the
death sentence.

Springwater
A 35-year-old Watonga woman was arrested January 29 after police caught her
driving a stolen vehicle around town.
According to the affidavit, a man contacted an officer at the Watonga Police
Department at approximately 12:55 p.m.
He said that his step-father’s truck was
stolen earlier that day.
The man located the vehicle leaving
Grand Prairie Apartments. He told the
officer he lost the truck near Karl’s Apple
Market. The truck was a white Chevy, but
the man said the tag on the vehicle wasn’t
the right tag.
About five minutes later, the officer saw a truck matching the description of the stolen vehicle leaving Dominoes Convenience Store.
He stopped the truck ½ mile south of Russworm on Clarence Nash
Blvd. The woman driving the truck said he didn’t have a driver’s
license, and she wasn’t sure if she had insurance verification. She
identified herself as Crystal Mason.
The officer checked the VIN number on the truck and was advised
it was definitely the stolen vehicle. The paperwork in the truck identified the victim as the owner.
Another officer on scene advised he believed the woman was telling them the wrong name – he identified her as Crystal Springwater.
When the officer asked the woman about the accusation, she started crying and admitted that her name was Springwater.
The officer then placed her under arrest and transported her to
jail. Springwater later told police that another man told her it was
OK to take the vehicle.
Springwater is being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle,
falsely personate another to create liability, driving with license suspended and removing proper or affixing improper license plate. Her
bond was set at $10,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on
February 10, 2016.

A 26-year-old Carnegie woman allegedly crashed a man’s vehicle during a drunken run to a local convenience store for beer
and pizza.
Haley Lynnae Harrison then fled the scene, leaving behind pizza
and a partially eaten chicken sandwich.
According to the affidavit, a state trooper responded to the scene
of the accident on SH 115 two miles north of Mountain View at
approximately 11:54 p.m. No occupants were in the car, but there
was a wallet that had Harrison’s driver’s license in it.
The car appeared to be totaled. It also appeared the driver was
hungry. There was white sauce on the door panel, a piece of pizza
in the front seat, and a partially eaten chicken sandwich on the
floor.
A firefighter on scene said he knew the owner of the vehicle. When contacted, he told the
trooper he woke up and saw that his car was gone, but he wasn’t sure where Harrison was.
Another officer located the woman at his residence. He advised she was being uncooperative and was clearly intoxicated. She also had grass stains on her knees and food on her
clothes.
The trooper went to the residence and met with a very drunk Harrison. She was unsteady
on her feet, smelled like alcohol and looked “very rough”, as if she had just been in an accident. The trooper showed her the wallet and driver’s license found at the scene – she admitted they were hers.
The trooper asked about the food on her shirt. She told him it was salsa that she ate earlier.
When he asked her who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, she told him she
didn’t know. She also said she hadn’t been drinking very much.
Sobriety tests suggested differently.
The officer placed the woman under arrest. She became emotional and blamed her boyfriend’s “crazy” ex-wife for framing her. She said she was on probation and her life would be
ruined.
At the jail, Harrison admitted she had been drinking vodka and went on a pizza and beer
run to a local store.
Harrison is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving scene of accident damaged fixture, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, failure to wear
seatbelt and failure to pay taxes due to state. She was released on a $3,038.50 bond and is
scheduled to appear in court on April 12, 2016.

A woman is facing several charges after going on a
rampage at a Waffle House restaurant in Kennesaw,
Georgia, all while completely naked.
The incident happened January 8 around 10:30 p.m.
at the location on George Busbee Parkway.
According to police, the woman, identified as Jennifer
Nicholson, stripped off her clothes, punched a woman
in the face and then threw a plate at a window. She also
threw several platters at patrons of the restaurant.
When police tried to subdue Nicholson, she fought
back, scratching an officer.
The woman who was punched sustained a broken
nose in the attack.
Nicholson is facing several assault and public indecency charges.
She’s currently being held in the Cobb County Jail.

Weatherford man Conrad Ledig, 35, was arrested February
2 for trying to place a woman under citizen’s arrest. The plan
backfired and Ledig was the one who ended up in handcuffs.
According to the affidavit, a Weatherford officer was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Tom Stafford at approximately
8:57 a.m. because a man and woman were fighting in the front
yard. En route to the location, the officer saw a woman wearing a nightgown running in the 200 block of N. Sixth. She had
dirt, grass and scratches on her skin, and she was visibly upset. She told the officer she was sleeping when Ledig grabbed
her by her hair and pulled her out of bed. He then dragged her
out of the house into the front yard and held her down.
Ledig had a different account of events. He said the victim
stole some stuff from him, so he went to her house to place
her under citizen’s arrest. The woman took off running and he
chased her while trying to call the police.
When asked where the woman’s injuries came from, Ledig said she must have fallen down.
The officer asked the victim if anyone else was in the house when the alleged assault occurred.
The victim said Ledig’s grandmother, who lived at the residence, was present during the
incident.
The officer again asked Ledig to tell her what happened.
Ledig said after he filed a larceny report against the suspect, he noticed a $10,000 watch
was missing from his residence. He went to the victim’s home to confront her. He said when
he told her she was under arrest, she took off running and fell down in the yard. He denied
dragging her out of the house and holding her down.
The suspect’s grandmother told police she was sleeping when her grandson arrived at the
house. She wasn’t sure why he was there, but he came into her room and told her she needed to leave, because he was going to place the victim under arrest. She said the man then
dragged the victim into the yard, and she called 911.
The officer placed Ledig under arrest and transported him to jail.
Ledig is being charged with burglary in the first degree and assault and battery. His bond
was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 11, 2016.

Lanne Baldwin, 24, was arrested Dec. 10 for shooting and killing his estranged wife inside her Taloga
home.
On Wednesday, January 6th, Dewey County sheriff’s deputies found Cassandra Baldwin, 26, dead of
a gunshot wound inside her home at 417 N. Francis.
Lanne Baldwin had also been shot, but he was
alive. He was transported to OU Medical Center in
Oklahoma City.
OU Medical Center police officers arrested Baldwin on a first degree murder warrant and booked him
into the Oklahoma County jail. Dewey County sheriff
deputies will transport him back to that jurisdiction.

Tulsa man Ronnie Eugene Clabough, 46, was locked up
on January 25 for allegedly stealing two vehicles from the
Elk City Municipal Airport on January 13.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on January 14, an Elk City officer was advised that a car was stolen from the airport. Dispatch advised that the GPS locating device on the vehicle
indicated the car was at a wrecker yard in Canute.
The officer went to Canute and positively identified the
stolen car by its VIN number. The officer then went to the
airport and made contact with the reporting party, an airport employee. The man said someone who entered the
building knew the code to the door lock. Once the suspect
entered the building, he went through the man’s desk,
grabbed the vehicle keys and took a bag of potato chips.
A white car was parked on the south of the building with
its trunk wide open. The officer looked in the car and saw a red jacket, a white hat, and an
opened bag of chips – the same chips that were on the employee’s desk.
The employee told the officer the jacket and description of the suspect from witnesses
reminded him of a past DOC work center employee, identified as Clabough. He said Clabough had moved to Tulsa, but he saw him recently in an Elk City store.
On January 22, the employee told the officer he went to a car dealership to get another
key for the vehicle stolen from the airport. While there, a dealership employee told him
they also had a car stolen from the airport.
The man driving that vehicle? He was also identified as Clabough.
The officer was advised Clabough was recently arrested and scheduled to appear at the
courthouse on January 25. He went to the courthouse and saw the man walking outside.
The officer then advised the man he was under arrest.
Clabough later admitted to the officer that he went into the building and took both vehicles, but he insisted he had permission to do so. But, when asked who gave him permission, the alleged car burglar didn’t have an answer.
Clabough is being charged with burglary in the second degree and two counts of larceny
of automobile. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on
April 5, 2016.

We often receive calls asking if there is a price to keep
someone out of our publication. The short answer to that
question is NO! OK Jailbirds has never accepted money or
favor to not publish a photo.
We hear many times from people that the arresting
offi cer of someone at the jail told them all they have to do
is pay us money and we will not publish their photo. This
is NOT true. We feel that taking money in exchange for
not publishing an arrest photo is extortion and, as such,
should be a crime.
There are companies who do take money to remove a
person’s arrest information. OK Jailbirds never has and
never will. If an arrest doesn’t make our paper, it is only
because we didn’t receive it or we didn’t have a photo we
could match up.
