Shawnee High’s Assistant Athletic Director arrested for sex crimes against a child

SHAWNEE, Okla. — An Assistant Athletic Director for the Shawnee public school system has been accused of sexually inappropriate behavior with a former student.

An arrest warrant for 51-year-old Ronald Gene Arthur was filed on Aug. 11. The accusation consists of using the dating app Grindr to meet up and engage in oral sex with a former student who has since come forward (KFOR).

Only one person has spoken out against Arthur, but investigators believe more are out there.

Deputy Amber Soule from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office has asked for more victims to step forward.

Through Arthur’s 17-year career, Soule claims that Arthur has been reprimanded or suspended eight different times for “vulgar and sexual comments to students, allegations of sending inappropriate text messages to students, and having contact with students alone when he was ordered not to” (News 9).

Arthur and his attorney deny the allegations. They also claim that he has passed a polygraph test and hope the DA will not press charges.

Court records indicate that Arthur’s bond has been set at $100,000 (OSCN).
