Stillwater man Rodney Lee Swindell, 37, allegedly
pointed a 9 mm Ruger pistol at a friend’s ex-boyfriend
and hit the man in the head with the gun on August 30.
According to reports, a Cushing police officer arrested
Swindell at a home in the 1300 block of E. Maple Street
at approximately 8:30 p.m.
He was sent to the location after someone called in an
assault report to dispatch. Dispatch could hear people
talking about a gun.
When the officer arrived at the location, he told everyone to exit the house. He placed Swindell in investigative
detention.
Swindell told the officer he was just there to see his
friend. The victim had a large swollen right eye. He told
the officer that Swindell attacked and pistol-whipped him. He explained that Swindell
pointed the gun at him, and he begged for his life.
A woman told the officer she and the victim had dated about a month ago, but they
weren’t together. She said she woke up that morning to him raping her. She called
Swindell and told him what happened.
The woman told Swindell she was OK, but she said he and another man entered the
home without permission and started banging on her ex-boyfriend’s bedroom door.
Swindell and the ex started fighting.
At one point, the woman said her ex went unconscious when Swindell put him in a
chokehold. When he came to, he went back to his room and closed the door. Swindell
broke the door down.
The officer located the gun under some clothes. The officer showed the firearm to
Swindell, who asked the officer where he found it. He insisted that the gun was inside
his truck, which was parked in the alley behind the home. He told police that he came
to the residence to check on the woman and the ex was asked to leave.
Swindell denied hitting anyone with a gun or getting into a physical altercation with
the victim.
The gun had a round chambered and a total of 10 bullets.
Swindell is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. His
bond was set at $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 20,
2021.

OKLAHOMA CITY MAN ARRESTED ON CHARGE OF
AGGRAVATED POSSESSION OF OBSCENE MATERIALS
Theodore Grinie, 51, was arrested earlier this month
after an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation (OSBI) Internet Crimes Against Children
(ICAC) Unit. On August 6, 2021, officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department located Grinie and arrested him on a felony warrant. Grinie was booked into
the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a charge of
Aggravated Possession of Obscene Materials Involve
the Participation of Minors Under the Age of Eighteen
(18).
The case originated in April of 2020 when the National Center for Missing
and Exploited Children (NCMEC) forwarded a cyber tip they received from an
electronic service provider to the OSBI. An investigation was opened by the
OSBI ICAC Unit and based on the investigation a felony arrest warrant was
issued for Grinie. The investigation revealed NCMEC associated a total of 18
cybertips containing hundreds of child pornographic images to Grinies.
If you suspect a child is being sexually exploited, contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST or www.cybertipline.com.

OSBI INVESTIGATING DOUBLE HOMICIDE IN
LEEDEY
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation
(OSBI) is investigating a double homicide that occurred early September 13 in Leedey. The Dewey
County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance after
they responded to the Leedey Ambulance Barn and
located Angel Boyd, 44, and Stacy Boyd, 31, deceased from gunshot wounds. Angel Boyd was an
EMT for Leedey and Stacy was Angel’s sister-in-law.
Angel’s husband, Mitchell Boyd, told investigators that his sister Stacy’s live-in boyfriend wanted
to come talk to him. Mitchell arranged for Tye Sechrist and Stacy to come to his and Angel’s home in
Leedey early this morning to talk. When they didn’t arrive, he tried calling both
Angel and Stacy. When neither answered, he went to the ambulance barn and
found them both deceased. The sheriff’s office received a 9-1-1 call at 3:10
a.m. reporting the double homicide.
Sechrist was taken into custody at the home he and Stacy shared at 7:18
a.m., after calling authorities to turn himself in. He was booked into the Dewey
County Jail this afternoon. He is facing two counts of Murder in the First Degree.

MOUNDS MAN FOUND GUILTY OF FIRST
DEGREE MURDER IN INDIAN COUNTRY
A jury convicted a 31-year-old Mounds man on September 22 for shooting and killing an acquaintance the
day the two rekindled an old friendship.
“A federal jury evaluated compelling evidence presented by federal prosecutors and found Kyle Sago
guilty of murdering Daniel Morgan. I am thankful for exemplary performance by Assistant U.S Attorneys Ross
Lenhardt and Aaron Jolly during the three-day trial,”
said Acting U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
Kyle Quentin Sago, 31, was found guilty of first degree murder in Indian Country, two counts of felon in
possession of ammunition; and causing death by using
and discharging a firearm in the commission of first degree murder.
On July 25, 2020, Officers from the Tulsa Police Department were notified of
a shooting that occurred within the Muscogee Nation reservation. A witness,
victim Daniel Morgan’s girlfriend, identified Kyle Sago as having fired the shots
that killed the victim.
At trial, Morgan’s girlfriend explained that she woke up at about 3:30 pm
the day of the crime and saw Sago visiting with the victim. Morgan introduced
Sago as a good friend. She noticed burns on Sago’s arms. Morgan explained
that he had saved Sago years ago from a fire at a meth lab. She said the two
continued to exchange stories and visited.
After Sago left, the victim lay down for a nap because he had been working
the night prior. Morgan’s girlfriend then heard multiple Facebook Messenger
calls to the victim’s phone while he was asleep. She noted that Kyle Sago
initiated the calls.
The witness stated that Sago soon returned to the residence in a white
sedan when she stepped outside, he demanded to speak with Morgan about
“business” and she should wake him.
When Morgan walked outside, the witness stated that she heard multiple
gunshots. She moved to the door and witnessed Sago shoot at Morgan
approximately four more times from the white sedan as the victim retreated
around to the side of the house.
Other witnesses called 911 and ran to assist. Morgan’s girlfriend also assisted and called the victim’s mother. She further cooperated with authorities in identifying Sago as the shooter. Daniel Morgan sustained four gunshot
wounds and died at the scene.
Several witnesses who saw the crime occur confirmed the suspect shot
from the same white sedan and continued to drive and fire at the victim as he
ran for cover.
Law enforcement testified that during their investigation, they recovered
three spent 9mm shell cases from the street near where Sago was located
when he shot Morgan. Officers later discovered two spent 9mm shell cases
inside Sago’s white sedan and located nine spent 9mm shell cases in the
backyard of Sago’s home. The Tulsa Police Department’s crime lab verified the
cases found in the victim’s car and at his home matched the three shell cases
found at the scene of the crime.
The jury deliberated for two hours then returned guilty verdicts on all counts.

OCTOBER IS NATIONAL
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
The following is a list of early warning
signs that someone may be abusive.
This list was put together by survivors of
domestic violence who reflected on the
early phases of the battering relationship
and identified some of the early warning
signs of abusers.
Someone who:
• Wants to move too quickly into the relationship.
• Does not honor your boundaries.
• Is excessively jealous and accuses you of having affairs.
• Wants to know where you are all of the time and frequently calls, emails
and texts you throughout the day.
• Criticizes you or puts you down; most commonly tells you that you are
“crazy,” “stupid” and/or “fat,” or that no one would ever want or love you.
• Says one thing and does another.
• Takes no responsibility for their behavior and blames others.
• Has a history of battering.
• Blames the entire failure of previous relationships on their partner; for example, “My ex was a total bitch.”
• Grew up in an abusive or violent home.
• Insists that you stop spending time with your friends or family.
• Seems “too good to be true.”
• Insists that you stop participating in leisure interests.
• Rages out of control and is impulsive.
Pay attention to the “red flags “and trust your instincts. Survivors of domestic violence frequently report that their instincts told them that there was
something wrong early on but they disregarded the warning signs and didn’t
know that these signs were indicative of an abusive relationship. Always take
time to get to know a potential partner and watch for patterns of behavior in
a variety of settings. Keeping in touch with your support system and participating in good self-care can lower your risk of being involved in an abusive
relationship.

MACHETE MAN
A 33-year-old Chandler man allegedly swung a machete at another man after being told to leave a gettogether on September 8.
According to reports, Chandler officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of S. Iowa
shortly after 6 p.m. to investigate an assault with a
dangerous weapon. The victim told police that a man,
later identified as Brandon Lee Burns, started freaking out while inside his house.
The victim told the man to leave. They both walked
into the front yard, where Burns swung a machete at
the man and his dog.
Officers started searching the area, but they didn’t
immediately find Burns.
While conducting a traffic stop at approximately
7:52 a.m. near 10th and Bennett, an officer saw Burns walking west in the 700
block of East 10th Street. The officer noticed that the man was swinging something around. When he approached the man, he saw that Burns was swinging
around a machete. He told the man to drop the weapon and asked the man what
was going on.
Burns said he had just left a woman’s home and he was headed to a different
house.
After the officer told him what was going on, Burns admitted he had been at the
victim’s home, but he denied swinging the machete at him.
The officer placed the man in handcuffs and asked Burns if he had anything on
his person he needed to know about.
Burns started crying and asked the officer not to do this to him. He finally admitted that he had some marijuana in his pants pocket.
The officer started feeling the pocket, but Burns twisted away and said he had
something else in his pocket. When the officer asked if it was a syringe, Burns
said yes – he had one in each pocket.
The officer located two used syringes with a clear liquid substance. He also
found some marijuana in the man’s watch pocket.
Burns is being charged with assault, battery, or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after the former conviction of a felony and unlawful possession of
marijuana. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court
on October 7, 2021.

PEAS IN A POD
Three suspects were placed under arrest after
police found drugs in the stolen vehicle they were
driving on September 19.
According to the affidavit, a Crescent officer
was advised of a possible stolen vehicle located
at 2151 North Highway 74 by the Oklahoma City
Police Department. An Oklahoma City officer
said the vehicle was stolen two hours prior, and
he had tracked it to a gas station at the above
address.
The officer went to the address and saw the
car at a gas pump. He, along with another officer and a Logan County deputy, approached the
vehicle and made contact with the occupants,
identified as Michael David Deliere, 38, Matthew
Edward Robinson, 43, and 34-year-old Karra
Deliere.
An officer noticed Robinson kept putting his
hands down and messing with something near
the driver’s side door. He found a syringe and
needle with a clear substance and some blood.
The officer identified the substance as meth.
He also found a spoon with a burnt substance
on it.
When officers searched Michael Deliere, they
found a piece of aluminum containing a brown
substance, and three needles with syringes. The
brown substance was identified as heroin.
While searching the vehicle, officers found a tin
container under where Karra Deliere had been
sitting. Inside the container was a bag containing
a crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamine, glass pipes, several syringes and
needles, a teaspoon, antiseptic wipes, and cotton.
Several large bags in the vehicle contained
personal documents that belonged to Michael
and Karra Deliere.
The suspects told police they didn’t know the vehicle was stolen.
At one point, Karra begged Matthew to take the blame for the vehicle –
he said he didn’t know it was stolen either.
All three suspects are being charged with possession of a stolen vehicle,
unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and unlawful
possession of drug paraphernalia. Their bonds were set at $20,000, and
they are scheduled to appear in court on October 28, 2021.
